I'm so glad they took over the old coffee shop space - their lattes are absolutely fantastic, and I love their sandwiches and pastries. The lox sandwich was so delicious. Perfect chive cream cheese, everything bagel, smoky salty lox, capers, cucumber and spinach. A perfect breakfast sandwich. The staff is very friendly, they're pretty quick and so conveniently located in the Guardian. I definitely recommend stopping in!

Quick and convenient. The building was stunning and the owner was very sweet. It was a great quick stop before starting my day.

We visited Hudson Café while spending a beautiful day exploring downtown Detroit, and it was an…read moreexcellent experience. The city was bustling with people, and I was pleasantly surprised by how gorgeous the downtown area was. The café had a vibrant, energetic atmosphere that perfectly matched the excitement of the city. Our server was absolutely amazing and made excellent recommendations. The portions were generous, and the food was delicious. Based on the recommendation, I ordered the corned beef hash with the cinnamon pancakes, and both were fantastic. Next time, I definitely want to try the red velvet pancakes! My friend ordered the Triple Triple Omelette with the original buttermilk pancakes, and we both chose the cheesy grits. The cheesy grits were very creamy, though I would recommend adding a little more butter to enhance the flavor. That was really my only critique. The restaurant was busy, but after dining there, I completely understand why. Despite the crowd, we were greeted immediately, and the service was prompt throughout our visit. Overall, Hudson Café delivered great food, outstanding service, generous portions, and a fun atmosphere. I will most certainly be back the next time I'm in downtown Detroit!

It was a rainy morning and we chose not to go anywhere else, and waited our 20 minutes to be seated. This restaurant is bustling, and you can tell it is well liked. My fiancé had the omelette, and I had the Berry waffle. My waffle had fresh strawberries and blueberries on top along with compote. It was not quite what I was expecting, it seemed to be more like stewed fruit juice, but I enjoyed it. My fiancé enjoyed his omelette as well. I ordered a side of bacon, and it came with four very large slices of bacon. It's definitely not a cheap place to breakfast, as my waffle with bacon on the side was nearly $22. But if you want a green breakfast place the various breakfast options, including multiple types of waffles, grapes, eggs, pancakes, benedetc., then this is the place.

From the art, to the books, from the stage, to the coffee ... it's like a concert venue/gallery and coffee shop all in one that provides some reading solace. The menu is minimal but mighty. I felt genuinely nourished after a vanilla bean latte, parfait, biscuit (Red Lobster-esque cheddar biscuits) / egg sandwich, and greens salad. The eggs were expertly fluffed how I like them. My friend had the lentil soup along with a tofu scramble on focaccia. We ate it all! The espresso was strong, you get real silverware and clayware/bowls. Wow! I was taken aback. And for what you're getting, the prices aren't all too bad. They could definitely be higher (don't make them higher ) I encourage any coffee shop loiterer, vegan/vegetarian, or city dweller, student, etc -- to try this spot. There are a wide variety of books in the room connected to the dining area, with book shelves filled with zines and art pieces. Also a stage? What goes on in here!? Keep up the amazing work, this is a great addition to my favorites!

It was so good and had such a unique flavor compared to other coffee drinks I've tried. I tried a vegan Fudge Brownie cookie from here as well from the brand HAYAH, which I've seen come up on my social media. I love that they use clean ingredients, so I can enjoy a sweet treat without feeling guilty, and it tastes great too! I love supporting a family-owned business like this. Highly recommend stopping in if you're in Midtown Detroit! I'll definitely be back for the cookie and hope to try another flavor next time.

Especially with all those people inside. To make matters worse, they only have ONE bathroom and for all genders to share! The only cool thing is they have a dedicated prayer room. I have never seen that before. The coffee was good but I felt they didn't fill the cup up all the way (my husband got the drinks while I went to the restroom or I would have said something). They had a brownie on display and when I got it to go, it was placed in a Zingerman bag do I guess they get their pastries from there!

We tried the spicy chicken caesar and the reuben angelo (made it the angelina by swapping turkey for the corned beef). The spicy chicken caesar was very tasty but I loved the angelina. So much flavor and texture in one sandwich. My only minor complaint was that the thousand island dressing needed to be better spread out, but who cares when the sandwich is this good? I would definitely eat both sandwiches again and go back to try the rest of their menu. We ordered online and it was ready when we came to pick it up. The staff was friendly and they have plenty of people working (one at the register and 3 making sandwiches). They have a few tables (the space isn't that large) as well as a single bathroom.

The combination of the sandwich was amazing. But one thing held this back... the focaccia was dry and fell apart. Wash bite I took, small pieces fell off (no not crumbs haha). This took away from the enjoyment of such a great sandwich. The bread is so important. And dry bread can ruin it. Alas I will still try this place again when I am in town. Because everything else was great. Hoping I got them on a bad day.
