A group of us had our White Elephant Christmas party here and had a wonderful experience. Our group was fairly large (20 people) so we had several servers taking care of us. They paced everything out so we could enjoy our conversations and exchange gifts all while being attentive to our needs. Appetizers were abundant and some shared. Calamari is excellent here. Salads are big for dinner salad size and come with most meals. I had the gnocchi all'Aldo. It's tossed in a creamy palmina sauce and fontina cheese. Simple and delicious. Their gnocchi is handmade. My girlfriend had the fettuccine Alfredo with seared scallops and shrimp and topped with a good size lobster tail. A few folks got lamb chops and commented on how tasty they were. After drinks, appetizers, bread service and a main course everyone was pretty stuffed and had no room for dessert. Located in the Renaissance Center I've dined at this location several times and you can't beat the views of the Detroit River. Though this particular visit was during the frigid temperatures they have outside seating during the warmer months. Being from NJ, I didn't have high expectations for Italian food in Detroit. But I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised! One of the best parts of this restaurant is the view. It's located right on the river with a birds eye view of Canada. We were so close to the border, my phone thought we were in Canada. The food and service were both excellent. We started with the friend calamari. Mixed into the dish were fried banana peppers. This was the perfect tangy accompaniment to the fried calamari. For my main, I had salmon and it was superb!!! Andiamos doesn't disappoint in the customer service area nor their food. Having been a chef for decades I'm often very critical when I go out to eat. But the ribeye steak was cooked perfectly to temperature and the vegetables were well cooked and very flavorful. As you can see the chicken Alfredo is well seasoned, and the portions are generous. We had dinner here before going to see The Lion King, and I must say it was a wonderful experience. This is one of those places that you dream about after you leave. This was the BEST chicken Alfredo I have had in a very long time! The starter bread was good, salad was good and I even got carrot cake for dessert! Located in the renaissance hotel so convenient if you're staying there. This place is everything I remember and I had such a great time with a new friend I met at the conference. Zuber, our server, was so kind and very helpful with suggestions. I was happy to see some favorites on the menu but I was interested to see so many dressed down guests at this place. I guess the dress code is way more lax than I remember it to be. I asked for medium and they brought back well done and the worst part was that their zip sauce was about 100 percent butter. You couldn't taste the meat all you can taste was butter. Our party of 4 arrived for our father's day reservation and saw that the restaurant was quite crowded. We ordered our dinners pretty quickly. I got the soup with mine and he got the salad. Both were delicious. I actually considered ordering another cup of the soup, but wanted to save room for the meal. The gnocchi was delicious. The portion size was perfect for me to share a bit with my son as well. Hubby had the tortellini and had leftovers. It was huge! We also opted for dessert. We got 3 different ones so that we could share and taste them all. Hubby preferred the tiramisu. My favorite was the cheesecake. We parked in the Marriott self parking garage. Andiamo offers validation for a different lot, so pay attention to where that is and you can save a bit. Once we arrived, we noticed there were tables set up in the atrium of the GM Building, little did I know they were seating guests in this area. Even though we had a reservation for weeks, and we were only a party of two, yet we were seated in the atrium under fake palm trees. We overhead a waiter tell her table that a large party came in, and instead of seating them out "here" they gave them a significant part of the restaurant and that the manager wasn't going to turn them away. That said, I was disappointed with our experience. Now...the food and wine were delicious. Our waitress, Heather, was fantastic, she was knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Okay, so this is fancy and gives a great view of Ontario, Canada! We came as a large group and the wait staff were incredible. I was able to enjoy one of the specials: pasta trio. It did not disappoint. I wish they added a little more salt to the pasta water and seasoning to the seafood but it was still very much delicious. They have a great assortment of desserts but this one... with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is like giving yourself an internal hug. The dining experience was top notch all the way around. This was a birthday dinner so expectations were pretty high. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile and shown directly to our table. The view of the river from the table was excellent. Shortly after being seated, our server Talesha arrived. She was a pro. Her smile lit up the room. After introducing herself, she took our drink order and left us so we could peruse the menu. The made to perfection martinis arrived promptly and Lori and I placed our food order. We ordered the calamari and burrata as apps. Both were excellent. I was pleasantly surprised at the addition of peperoncini in the calamari. It added a very nice kick to the dish. For our entrees, I ordered the ribeye and my wife ordered the fettuccini limone e granchio. Both entrees work cooked to perfection and the presentation was lovely. During the meal, Mike Nowinski (Operating Partner) stopped by the table to see how we were enjoying the meal. After telling him how pleasant the experience was, we visited for a while about the history of the restaurant and the other restaurants under his management. He is a professional and operates an extremely well run business. I'm giving the restaurant a 5 star rating. The service was superb, the food was excellent, the pricing was inline for a restaurant of this caliber, and the entire experience was memorable.
