Went to Dime Store for breakfast and was very happy my first meal in Detroit was soo so good. We had the Duck Bop Hash and the Corn beef Hash. They were so good. If you know me for real you know that I hardly ever eat all my food. I ate the whole thing with the exception of the English muffin. It was absolutely delicious. Loved my visit to the Dime Store! I got a special - the Braised Beef Benny and it was so good. The sauce on the beef worked beautifully with the hollandaise. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and I loved the buttery puff pastry. I would order this again in a heartbeat. I wasn't as thrilled by the accompanying potatoes. They didn't have much flavor and they were lukewarm. I think I'll order fruit next time. My husband got the Reuben Omelette, and he really liked it. Great Downtown Brunch/Brekkie spot. They were slammed with regulars and travelers like us. Visiting from CO, stopped in and ordered the Veggie Benny, Veggie and Enchilada Omelettes. Veggie Benny was so money that it didn't even know it! Perfectly poached eggs drizzled with hollandaise sauce, fresh veggies on a stellar toasted English muffin. We were in town for weekend and stopped in here for a meal before the Detroit Auto Show. This place is awesome. The staff was friendly, and our waitress was an absolute vibe, a national treasure, and overall amazing at her job! This is a small restaurant, but they make really efficient use of their space. I didn't get pics of all the food. I started with a chai latte, and it was really really realllllllly good. Like I'm going to be dreaming of this chai latte for a while! Met a friend en route to Canada; great proximity to the tunnel and the expressway, and nice downtown location. Didn't have to wait for a table this morning, which was great. Waitress was promptly at the table, taking drink orders, then back to answer qs and get orders taken. I asked her if she'd rec the sausage and gravy bowl or the corned beef hash--she said corned beef hash was her favorite. Corned beef hash: they use Sy Ginsburg corned beef (made locally), which has a great flavor. Only wish the corned beef was hotter, it was served room temp-ish. The horseradish cream sauce was also very good, but wish it were on the corned beef instead of the eggs. Scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly, as were potatoes in the hash (also seasoning on potatoes was chef's kiss!) However, the Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes were undercooked and crunchy; wish they not only steamed sprouts, but also seared to get a nice crust and sweeter flavor. English muffin was undercooked and chewy instead of toasted and crisp. Coffee was forgettable, I'd just get water next time. Husband had the enchiladas omelette which he said was tasty, and our friend got the biscuit & gravy bowl, which he also liked. Why 5 stars? Because the pre-game breakfast hit the spot. --- --- --- Staying downtown for a Lions game, I couldn't think of a better place to visit than this. We were sure to get there right at 8am to avoid having to wait, and we ended up being the 2nd or 3rd table sat. I ordered a salmon benedict and it hit the spot very solidly. But the star of the show for me was the french toast, which was equal parts delicious, without being too heavy at the same time. I usually avoid french toast at restaurants just because it can put me straight in a food coma, but this was light and fresh. Didn't get any photos this time, but stopped in on Labor Day! The café is connected to a large city building (I think apartments are above), which made it a little tricky to find if you are not paying attention to the window sign. We came in around 8:25 and were told we'd have a 15-20 minute wait. We got sat at 8:50. I ordered a dirty chai tea latte - super tasty, though for nearly $10 I expected it to come in something larger than a small mug. The Belgian waffle was solid, and the corned beef hash was delicious with lots of veggies mixed in. It had a fresh twist that I really enjoyed. I also tried the biscuits and gravy, which came with a sausage/bacon style gravy. That combo was a little odd for us and not really a hit. I must admit, I was a bit disappointed that they didn't offer a "basic" breakfast option like Eggs & Toast, which is a staple for me. So, I decided to venture out and try something different. I opted for homemade granola and Greek yogurt, accompanied by a side of potatoes. I was thoroughly pleased with the results! The seasoning they use on the potatoes is quite good and unique. The best part for me was undoubtedly the drinks. They had incredible coffee, and the chai they made my wife looked picture perfect. Another plus was that we were in a bit of a hurry, and despite being quite crowded, the service was fast and friendly. The front entrance is in the building and you can't enter directly from the street. There is a discount on parking in the Kennedy center parking. There is metered street parking around the building. We went early on a week day so there was plenty of seating available however on a weekend there can be a wait. It is t a huge location but there is efficient use of space for seating. There is lots of natural light. The menu focuses on bennys, hashes and some sweet treats like French toast. The service was efficient. I got 2 over easy eggs, chicken sausage and potatoes. The chicken sausage was really good. The potatoes had a little too much paprika for me but the hollandaise sauce was really good and helped balance the paprika. We went for a late lunch on a weekday and were greeted by the friendly staff and seated quickly. I was glad the waitstaff suggested getting the corn chowder as it's arguably the best I've ever had. This was my first time coming here, overall service and food were amazing. I had a veggie omelette with sausage added 10/10, it came with a biscuit that was perfect and so soft! I also had the brioche French toast which I give 4/10 because it was fairly dry. They have a drink menu, I had an espresso martini 8/10. Our server was super nice and efficient, the only downsize was the 40 minute wait for seating. And the tables are tiny, not much room to sit a purse on the table or behind the chair ( there is a picture with a couple tables put together, seating for two is one of those). Located in the old Dime building, Dime Store is a fun breakfast/brunch place to visit if you're in the Downtown Detroit area. Heck, even if you're in midtown, just hop on the Q Line and go try it! We started with boozy coffees--they have both hot and cold brew options--which were delicious and not skimpy with the liquor. Choosing our entrees was honestly the hardest part! My friend opted for the street corn hash, adding avocado and fiesta chicken, and I tried the pork belly and grits special, adding an egg at the suggestion of our waitress. Folks working at Dime Store are focused on delivering a good meal quickly and without a lot of fanfare. We ordered alcohol, and my companion raved about the Cold Brew Irish Coffee. He enjoyed the Sausage Hash while i tried the Soup du jour: a bowl of hot Corn Chowder. It was delicious! Went surprising well with my Josh Cabernet Sauvignon. Was visiting Detroit and got taken to Dime Store. What a lovely surprise! A small lovely little (almost whole in the wall) type restaurant. It's in a great location downtown. There's a large very pretty Waiting area to sit in. And then a pretty good amount of seats once you get inside. The staff was nice even though they were busy the day I visited. Our waitress was super nice and very quick. We never waited for anything. The food was delicious! I got the brioche french toast topped with fresh fruit. Along with a vanilla latte. I visited on 9/28/25 after a coworker recommended it for our last morning in Detroit. They were very busy on a Friday morning, but for a table of two we were seated quickly by the windows with a lovely view. The cold smoked salmon benedict with capers was delicious, and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. It was probably one of the best eggs benedict dishes I have ever had, though I am partial to anything with salmon. I would caution against the orange juice if you prefer fresh squeezed, as it tasted like standard Minute Maid. If I had more room, I would have loved to try the waffles and pancakes. Just had brunch there with my boyfriend and I couldn't be more disappointed. I have been wanting to try this place for years. I'm not sure why people like it and I have heard so many good things about it. I had the chorizo hash, which was so salty I could barely eat it until I mixed it all together and the egg and avocado toned down the salt. I am a salt lover too, so this is really saying something. The chorizo wasn't even chorizo. It tasted like just plain old sausage with some seasoning in it. Also for this price I should not be eating frozen, deep fried potatoes. My boyfriend had the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was essentially flavorless, super greasy and looked like a bowl of mush. The biscuits were gummy and doughy. The coffee was cheap tasting and our mimosas were barely cold. The service was very good. All the staff were really sweet and the food came out quickly and was hot. The restaurant is very cute, but it was so hot in there it was not an enjoyable experience at all. Definitely will not be back. read more

We went there before our musical, there is convenient parking nearby. There was a 45 min wait, so be prepared. However, the app is very convenient way to keep track of your spot in line. We started with some bacon, parm, and truffle fries. They were very good. My friends tried on the specials and I had a hash. They were both delicious. Okay! Okay! Okay! This restaurant was established in 2014. When I tell you this dining experience has been on my to-do list or should I say to-try list for almost a decade. They did not disappoint! The food was outstanding! I loved the Brioche French Toast topped with fresh fruit. I opted to move my fruit to a side plate so as not to cover it with syrup. My besties loved their breakfast selections too. The restaurant was packed for a Saturday morning. Our wait was not long at all. The Chrysler House building where this is located has comfy seating in the lobby while you wait. Note: You entire dining party must be present before you are seated. Dining Downtown Detroit is a wonderful experience. The Dime Store also validates one hour of parking in the parking structure located behind Chrysler House. Bravo to The Founders! It's been quite a while since my last visit to the Dime Store, but the memories I have of it are still fresh in my mind, because the food was pretty spectacular. The service was great-even during busy times, and the atmosphere itself was cozy and clean. The only issue I had was with the fact that it feels like they were trying to fit as many people in the restaurant as possible, which makes it fairly cramped and somewhat difficult to navigate when busy.
