    Mexican Street Corn Hash
    Samantha B.

Came here to eat on Saturday while we were in the area and we enjoyed it so much we came back another day for takeout. The first experience would have warranted 5 stars but our second experience here wasn't as good. First time we came we sat at a table and had a wonderful server by the name of Paul. He was attentive and friendly. I ordered the Mexican Street Corn Hash and my bf ordered the cold-smoked salmon benny with the hollandaise sauce on the side. We both enjoyed our meals. On Monday morning we were hungry and decided to get take out from here. I ordered the spicy Cuban rice bowl. This dish sounded great but it was actually bland. The rice was also clumped up a lot. Regardless of the dish, the hostess this time around was extremely rude. Gave us nasty attitude for no reason.

Love this Arrival Spot, The vibe the Consistent GOOD service and the Food. I have never had the same thing because, there is always something new to try It's New York in Downtown Detroit. Business people Visitors and Detroit dwellers that know where to go

Went to Dime Store for breakfast and was very happy my first meal in Detroit was soo so good. We had the Duck Bop Hash and the Corn beef Hash. They were so good. If you know me for real you know that I hardly ever eat all my food. I ate the whole thing with the exception of the English muffin. It was absolutely delicious. My server Nicki was really nice and friendly she told me the Duck was the most popular so I went with that. The caramel chai latte was also very good not too sweet. 10/10 recommend.

This place has such good reviews...I was excited to check it out when visiting Detroit. There were two seats at the bar when we got there on Sunday morning so we were able to be seated right away, which was nice. There was a huge line by the time we left so I am very thankful we got in when we did! With the great reviews and the large line, I honestly expected to be wowed a bit more. Maybe I built it up too much, but my friend and I both thought the food was just average and not really worth all the hype. We each ordered an omelet which came with the house breakfast potatoes and choice of bread (rye for her and an English muffin for me). They made my omelet wrong the first time and seemed a bit annoyed at having to remake it (I promise I was super nice about it!). We both thought the potatoes had a good spice but they were quite dry and my English muffin was dry as well. The omelet itself was good but just a normal omelet. Nothing bad, but nothing amazing. Maybe we just got the wrong things? All in all not a bad experience at all, just not as good as expected.

The dime store located in downtown Detroit in the Chrysler building. Features scratch made breakfast options, cocktails, with a lively atmosphere. They have all of your favorite breakfast classics plus some new and unique options as well. I got an order of the Chesapeake Benny and the strawberry and cream waffle. This is a great breakfast/brunch spot to enjoy in Detroit.

We were in town for weekend and stopped in here for a meal before the Detroit Auto Show. This place is awesome. The staff was friendly, and our waitress was an absolute vibe, a national treasure, and overall amazing at her job! This is a small restaurant, but they make really efficient use of their space. I didn't get pics of all the food. I started with a chai latte, and it was really really realllllllly good. Like I'm going to be dreaming of this chai latte for a while! The got the braised beef Benny. It was great. Their hollandaise is divine. My son got the corned beef hash, and it was great! We also got the French toast topped with fruit. The icing on the cake was their homemade strawberry jam. This was a wonderful meal with even better service!

Met a friend en route to Canada; great proximity to the tunnel and the expressway, and nice downtown location. Didn't have to wait for a table this morning, which was great. Waitress was promptly at the table, taking drink orders, then back to answer qs and get orders taken. I asked her if she'd rec the sausage and gravy bowl or the corned beef hash--she said corned beef hash was her favorite. Corned beef hash: they use Sy Ginsburg corned beef (made locally), which has a great flavor. Only wish the corned beef was hotter, it was served room temp-ish. The horseradish cream sauce was also very good, but wish it were on the corned beef instead of the eggs. Scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly, as were potatoes in the hash (also seasoning on potatoes was chef's kiss!) However, the Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes were undercooked and crunchy; wish they not only steamed sprouts, but also seared to get a nice crust and sweeter flavor. English muffin was undercooked and chewy instead of toasted and crisp. Coffee was forgettable, I'd just get water next time. Husband had the enchiladas omelette which he said was tasty, and our friend got the biscuit & gravy bowl, which he also liked. Great service; food on the table in 5-7 minutes; appreciate that their menu features lots of made in Michigan items from around the state (back of menu gives deets).

Great Downtown Brunch/Brekkie spot. They were slammed with regulars and travelers like us. Visiting from CO, stopped in and ordered the Veggie Benny, Veggie and Enchilada Omelettes. Veggie Benny was so money that it didn't even know it! Perfectly poached eggs drizzled with hollandaise sauce, fresh veggies on a stellar toasted English muffin. The omelettes were tasty, but the clear crème of the crop choice was the Benny! Great menu and full bar, they even will validate your parking.

Was able to be seated right away. Place had a cool vibe! There was a table that was next to us that had a 4" gap. First guys decided to leave because they would not put them in another spot. Minutes later they put two girls next to us, but they left as another two person table opened up! Decided on the cheesesteak Bennie. It was super good. The potatoes were seasoned well but have to agree with other Yelpers that they were lukewarm.

Why 5 stars? Because the pre-game breakfast hit the spot. --- --- --- Staying downtown for a Lions game, I couldn't think of a better place to visit than this. We were sure to get there right at 8am to avoid having to wait, and we ended up being the 2nd or 3rd table sat. I ordered a salmon benedict and it hit the spot very solidly. But the star of the show for me was the french toast, which was equal parts delicious, without being too heavy at the same time. I usually avoid french toast at restaurants just because it can put me straight in a food coma, but this was light and fresh. I see why Dime Store's reviews are so strong and I'd happily return again.

Didn't get any photos this time, but stopped in on Labor Day! The café is connected to a large city building (I think apartments are above), which made it a little tricky to find if you are not paying attention to the window sign. We came in around 8:25 and were told we'd have a 15-20 minute wait. We got sat at 8:50. I ordered a dirty chai tea latte - super tasty, though for nearly $10 I expected it to come in something larger than a small mug. The Belgian waffle was solid, and the corned beef hash was delicious with lots of veggies mixed in. It had a fresh twist that I really enjoyed. I also tried the biscuits and gravy, which came with a sausage/bacon style gravy. That combo was a little odd for us and not really a hit. Overall, good food and worth a try, but will try something different next time I'm in town!

Delicious duck leg confit hash! Fantastic.

Update feom precious five star review. Today returned for an amazing duck confit hash. And the bartender provided excellent service with efficiency and laughter.

Can this business accommodate a party of 10 for brunch on the weekend?

No, I’m sorry, we are a very small restaurant with limited seating options for large parties and can only accommodate parties of up to 8 people.

    Do they have bottomless mimosas?

Hi Natalie! No, I'm sorry, we don't offer bottomless mimosas. (They're actually illegal in Michigan.) However, we do have one of the largest mimosas you'll find around town at 12 oz., as well as a mimosa pitcher option.

    Do they take reservations?

No it's first come first serve

What is the average wait time for a party of 5?

Best time to go is within 20-30 mins of opening as you will not have to wait. Wait time steadily increases from that point and peaks at about 1.5 hours. I always go shortly after opening and have never had to wait.

Lauren took great care of us and encouraged us to order whatever we were craving. Dangerous advice, but we happily accepted . Warning - the ratings are real. They're not a mistake. We started with our usual cocktail, the Instant Karma (5/5). It is the perfect balance of citrus and salt with a light cucumber note. Clean, refreshing, and it pairs well with everything. The roasted sweet potato (6/5) is one of the best vegetable dishes in the city. The caramelized exterior gives way to a soft interior, and the crispy quinoa adds a subtle light crunch that plays against the creamy texture. The salsa macha brings a smoky, nutty depth without the heat, and the crema ties it all together. I had to physically stop myself from scraping the plate (actually they had to take it away ). The tagliatelle (5/5) with beef bolognese and parmesan was flawless. The pasta has that ideal handmade chew, and the bolognese is rich without being heavy. The parmesan blends perfectly into the sauce and stands out in every bite. The potato pierogi (10/5) were the star of the night. Soft potato-filled pillows with horseradish crema, apple, and crispy shallot pieces create this perfect sweet, tangy, creamy, and crunchy bite. Each forkful felt intentional and balanced. I felt guilty, because in my head, I didn't want to share with my wife, but I did anyways . The cruelty of having to split an odd number of pierogis...well played...we should have just ordered another one. We also ordered the smoked potatoes and the pan roasted half chicken with sauce au poivre (always 5/5 for both) The smoked potatoes, with raclette, and crème fraîche, are always a must. These winter variation was just as good! The chicken remains one of the most consistently well-executed mains in the city. I have tried recreating it at home with the cold pan method and it never comes close. Every time we dine here, it feels like four or five different dinner experiences in one evening. Selden Standard continues to set the bar for us in Detroit. We love the staff, the food, and the memories tied to this place. Cheers to many more amazing years to come!

My husband surprised me with a birthday dinner here, and I'm glad that we got to experience it. We arrived in advance of our reservation and grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender brought us a glass of wine while we waited. It took about a half hour, but we were shown to our table for the night and promptly greeted by our server. All of the food looked amazing, both on the menu and with what people were ordering at other tables. We chose a variety of dishes - cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, squid ink orecchiette, octopus, mushrooms, and scallops. I would recommend all of them, but the standouts for me were the Brussels sprouts and the scallops. Flavors were unique and textures were especially on point with those dishes. Service was good, but we both felt like it was slow. There was a slight glitch in the beginning of the night where the host stand didn't mark that we had checked in when we actually had, which probably contributed to the half hour wait at the bar. Aside from those points, it was an impeccable night!

The Brussels were heavenly and the octopus was flavorful and tender (very nicely prepared). Aside from the Steelhead entrée, my wife and son both had the Ribeye Cap w/ yaji, peanut, & kiwi. They couldn't stop raving about it. The pairing of kiwi with steak was delicious and creative! First, the restaurant is up two flights of steps and there is no elevator. I injured my knee and walked up the stairs. Second, when I was seated and shown the menu, I was shocked at the very limited options. They only offer white- meat chicken, no rice or plain sides. I was going to try the greens but the server said they put vinegar on them which I don't care for. The Brussels sprouts with corn is a hard pass. I had no other choice but ordered something that I would never put together as a meal: fried catfish, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts with corn. The fish was fried hard and needed seasoning and the sprouts were forgettable. They brought out hot sauce on the side assuming all people want hot/ spicy food. I wanted tartar sauce and they didn't have a traditional sauce- they had a " Cajun- style sauce." My friend had a crab cake for $25. When I called about parking, the hostess mentioned the cash lot behind the restaurant and.a parking structure across the street. She didn't mention that it was extremely expensive, I paid $24.49 for 1 hour and 6 minutes in the structure. Oh, I almost forgot that they added a 20% gratuity automatically for a party of 2! So, overall, my catfish dinner, 1 crab cake appetizer, and $2 up charge for the Brussels brought my bill to $74. Plus, the $24.49 for parking was a $100 night with no liquor only to have to leave and go eat elsewhere as what I wasted money on left me hungry and unsatisfied for sure.

The service was attentive and our server was both personable and knowledgeable, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Everything we ordered was well-seasoned and well prepared. The standout dish was easily the lamb shoulder appetizer, extremely tender and perfectly paired with the creamy hummus. Hands down, the best lamb shoulder I've had to date. The half chicken was also very good, tasting fresh off the grill, and paired nicely with the light, fluffy rice and grilled asparagus. The ambiance deserves a mention as well. The space feels modern and classy with romantic undertones, while still being warm and inviting. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

I like that the booths are kind of private with the party you are with. For starters we had the pulled lamb shoulder hummus. The lamb was well seasoned and so tender the hummus was great but the combination was amazing. The mini gyros were really good too. They should make them as an entree with a bigger portion. They were so much flavor in the two bites I had since we split them in half. The branzino was good I have had better and the sides that it came with were a little on the small side it was Swiss chard and there was suppose to be romesco in it but I didn't see any and just a few pieces of fingerling potatoes. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and came sliced already the sides were plentiful and flavorful. The lamb chops were very small and not a lot of pieces and didn't really come with any sides. For dessert we split the Citrus Cheesecake and Trilece Cake. The cheesecake was very creamy and light the citrus taste was very pronounced and so fresh there wasn't any kind of artificial taste to it at all. The cake was delicious the cream on top was light and fluffy, cake was soft and moist, the sauce at the bottom gave it that extra touch that made it one of the best things I ate that night.

We happened to be going someplace nearby, and decided to finally try this spot. (I sort of wished we just went to Mexican Town to eat). All 3 if us were first timers, we luckily came in before a Pre Tigers game rush. Our server, Bobby, was efficient but lacked personality. It was like he rushed us through our order, I guess that's great to turn tables and get ppl to the game on time. We wanted to try a bunch of sliders. We got the double cheeseburger, Philly cheesesteak, fried chicken, Cuban, pork belly and fried chicken Caesar. We also got Cajun fries, Poutine , chili cheese fries and Mac and cheese. The double cheeseburger was typical and good. Fried chicken Caesar was good, We liked the dressing Pork belly was disappointing and bland Cheesesteak was just ok Fried chicken was good The Cuban was one of the better ones For the sides, we liked the thin fries, with Cajun and poutine being our favorites. I didn't care for the venison chili cheese fries, but the others liked it. The Mac and cheese was so bland, even some salt and pepper would have made it better, but it wasnt on the table and our server wasn't around to ask for it. One thing that annoyed me was that our food came out gradually, our fries came out way before our food, 12 minutes to be exact (looked at the time on my photos). We also ordered some cocktails, I was in the mood for a margarita, so I ordered a spicy margarita, it waa pretty good, not spicy at all, no salt, but the flavor was decent. My sister ordered a New fashioned, she said is wasn't anything special. We also got summer soda (vodka, basil, lemon, cucumber and soda) it had a strange flavor, I'm not sure from what, as it should be pretty simple and straight forward. I'm not sure of the name of the other cocktails, it may have been gin promise, it was pretty good. Overall, we all said we wouldn't go out of our way to eat here again. We all agreed that it didn't live up to the hype we've heard all of these years. I did like the old school vibe inside, dark with horse stable themed decor. Interesting place, some things were better than others. I could see this being a good place to grab a pretty quick drink and bite to eat before a game. Surely, better than eating at the ballpark, etc..
