Was in Detroit for quick trip over the weekend and wanted a breakfast place. My search led me here and decided to give it a try. I asked the waitress what she recommended and the duck hash wa what stuck out to me. I was pleasantly surprised. Everything about this meal was amazing. My only regret was noy having enough room to try other thibgs like the peach cobbler waffle. The next time I am in town I plan to come back. My meal was exceptional!
Great breakfast and brunch spot! Got lucky in that it was close enough to our hotel to walk to while in town for a show. Perfect spot! Hostess and serving staff were really friendly. Food was great. Loved my eggs benny and fruit! The toast my Mr got was crazy good - thick slice of a really high quality bread. I might have chosen something else that came with toast if I'd known! One point deducted for how tight the tables are packed in. Makes it feel a bit like you're sardines. Also the cappuccino machine wasn't working so that wasn't great.

In all my years working in Detroit I finally got downtown to try this lovely spot. It's a cozy, nice diner vibe that's not a a grungy, divey place yet small like one. The staff was very friendly and warm when greeting guests. Their personable nature made the visit that much more worth the walk in the heat. Since the place was pretty busy we took bar stools to avoid waiting for a table and it was a good view of the smaller kitchen area. I was pleasantly surprised at the efficiency we saw from the busy crowd and the food not taking 10 years. The food was tasty. I truly enjoyed my Korean spicy fries. Spicy in name not truly spicy to cause a burn if that makes sense. I was craving a traditional breakfast plate but the staff and my friends who are local insisted that I needed to try the Korean fries so I did both. Was it greedy of me? Absolutely. Did I care? No. The locally sourced sausage was also very tasty. I must try to find it to cook at home. My friends ordered their regular go-to meals so it was great according to them. The burger and the duck hash. I think I'll go back and try the duck hash next time for sure. And another thing, there's a particular parking garage they validate a couple hours for. So parking is not an issue in this downtown office building.
I finally made it here. I've been told to try Dine Store by a few friends and I just haven't made it until this week. Tucked in the Chrysler building is the Dime Store restaurant, this is a small establishment with about 20-ish tables and bar seating. Entrance is through the Chrysler building. I must mention there is ample street or structure parking in the area. Dine Store is casual feels with BIG flavors! Plus the Staff were friendly and welcoming. At our table, we started with Chai Lattes. They offer milk alternatives-Yaay! The Chai was good sprinkled with cinnamon and steaming hot. It could have used a bit more chai, which I'm sure they would have supplied but it was good that I sipped away. To note, they do offer cocktails and beers, as not all brunch places do. We tried the Mushroom and Goat cheese Omelette and a Build your Own omelette. Our table was pleased as the omelettes may appear 'small' but don't let that fool you, they were packed with flavor. Also, the dishes were made to order. The cubed potatoes were delicious along with the Zingerman's Toast with strawberry jam. Oh yes, we also got a side of the chicken sausage and no disappointments. Everything was cooked to perfection. I must point out that the ingredients were fresh, we could taste the difference with the farm to table ingredients and the potatoes and omelettes were not greasy at all! Can't wait to visit again-recommended!
My experience here was about the same as the last time. It was packed and very loud, and the food was decent, but not much more special than typical diner food. Our service was great and very fast though!
Love this Arrival Spot, The vibe the Consistent GOOD service and the Food. I have never had the same thing because, there is always something new to try It's New York in Downtown Detroit. Business people Visitors and Detroit dwellers that know where to go
Went to Dime Store for breakfast and was very happy my first meal in Detroit was soo so good. We had the Duck Bop Hash and the Corn beef Hash. They were so good. If you know me for real you know that I hardly ever eat all my food. I ate the whole thing with the exception of the English muffin. It was absolutely delicious. My server Nicki was really nice and friendly she told me the Duck was the most popular so I went with that. The caramel chai latte was also very good not too sweet. 10/10 recommend.
While visiting Detroit my godmom took my mom and me to Dime Store and I think it should be called Sublime Store:) The food was delicious, everyone on staff was lovely. Special shout out to the hostess Gigi. She went above and beyond to help us figure out parking and she was such a pleasant first person to see at the door! Thank you Gigi! Will be back. Best veggie omelet ever!

On Monday morning we were hungry and decided to get take out from here. I ordered the spicy Cuban rice bowl. This dish sounded great but it was actually bland. The rice was also clumped up a lot. Regardless of the dish, the hostess this time around was extremely rude. Gave us nasty attitude for no reason.

Our server was really nice and so were the host. It is a cute, small, restaurant connected to another building. We parked in the parking garage across the street. If I were ever back in the area, I would go back!

We came around 8:30am on a weekday and got seated right away. My veggie benny was the perfect start to the day. I appreciate that it has veggies, protein and carbs all in one. Everything was very yummy. The potatoes were sliced thinly so they had the max surface area for the Cajun seasoning. Service was friendly and helpful. When we walked by couple hours later, there was line out the door. Would definitely come back and sample other items on their menu. read more

Came for breakfast on a holiday and we're seated right away. They got packed later in the day so coming early was clutch. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I ordered off the specials menu since it was our first time. I enjoyed the Red, White and Blue waffle (minus the sprinkles). It was super fluffy and a nice combination of flavors. Went on a breakfast date with my husband here, on a weekday morning. It was rather empty, but the food took a while to come out. The service was great no complaints, our server anticipating any of our needs and was great. I had the French toast with a side of scrambled eggs with bacon. The eggs were fantastic, the French toast was blah I don't really care to add syrup to my French toast but it was needed this time. My husband did a build your own omelette and loved it. read more

One of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time! I ordered the corned beef hash, while my wife went with the cheesesteak eggs Benedict. Both dishes were excellent - fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I stopped by Dime Store around noon and was lucky enough to get a seat at the counter without any wait. The place was packed and buzzing with energy, which gave it a really vibrant atmosphere. My server was warm and welcoming. I ordered the Reuben omelette with bread and fries, along with a coffee. Everything was delicious, and the portion size was just right--I left feeling completely satisfied. I really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and overall vibe, and I'd happily visit again! read more
We were in town for weekend and stopped in here for a meal before the Detroit Auto Show. This place is awesome. The staff was friendly, and our waitress was an absolute vibe, a national treasure, and overall amazing at her job! This is a small restaurant, but they make really efficient use of their space. I didn't get pics of all the food. I started with a chai latte, and it was really really realllllllly good. Like I'm going to be dreaming of this chai latte for a while! The got the braised beef Benny. It was great. Their hollandaise is divine. My son got the corned beef hash, and it was great! We also got the French toast topped with fruit. The icing on the cake was their homemade strawberry jam. This was a wonderful meal with even better service! read more
Met a friend en route to Canada; great proximity to the tunnel and the expressway, and nice downtown location. Didn't have to wait for a table this morning, which was great. Waitress was promptly at the table, taking drink orders, then back to answer qs and get orders taken. I asked her if she'd rec the sausage and gravy bowl or the corned beef hash--she said corned beef hash was her favorite. Corned beef hash: they use Sy Ginsburg corned beef (made locally), which has a great flavor. Only wish the corned beef was hotter, it was served room temp-ish. The horseradish cream sauce was also very good, but wish it were on the corned beef instead of the eggs. Scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly, as were potatoes in the hash (also seasoning on potatoes was chef's kiss!) However, the Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes were undercooked and crunchy; wish they not only steamed sprouts, but also seared to get a nice crust and sweeter flavor. English muffin was undercooked and chewy instead of toasted and crisp. Coffee was forgettable, I'd just get water next time. Husband had the enchiladas omelette which he said was tasty, and our friend got the biscuit & gravy bowl, which he also liked. Great service; food on the table in 5-7 minutes; appreciate that their menu features lots of made in Michigan items from around the state (back of menu gives deets). read more
Why 5 stars? Because the pre-game breakfast hit the spot. --- --- --- Staying downtown for a Lions game, I couldn't think of a better place to visit than this. We were sure to get there right at 8am to avoid having to wait, and we ended up being the 2nd or 3rd table sat. I ordered a salmon benedict and it hit the spot very solidly. But the star of the show for me was the french toast, which was equal parts delicious, without being too heavy at the same time. I usually avoid french toast at restaurants just because it can put me straight in a food coma, but this was light and fresh. I see why Dime Store's reviews are so strong and I'd happily return again. read more

Didn't get any photos this time, but stopped in on Labor Day! The café is connected to a large city building (I think apartments are above), which made it a little tricky to find if you are not paying attention to the window sign. We came in around 8:25 and were told we'd have a 15-20 minute wait. We got sat at 8:50. I ordered a dirty chai tea latte - super tasty, though for nearly $10 I expected it to come in something larger than a small mug. The Belgian waffle was solid, and the corned beef hash was delicious with lots of veggies mixed in. It had a fresh twist that I really enjoyed. I also tried the biscuits and gravy, which came with a sausage/bacon style gravy. That combo was a little odd for us and not really a hit. Overall, good food and worth a try, but will try something different next time I'm in town! read more

This place has such good reviews...I was excited to check it out when visiting Detroit. There were two seats at the bar when we got there on Sunday morning so we were able to be seated right away, which was nice. There was a huge line by the time we left so I am very thankful we got in when we did! With the great reviews and the large line, I honestly expected to be wowed a bit more. Maybe I built it up too much, but my friend and I both thought the food was just average and not really worth all the hype. We each ordered an omelet which came with the house breakfast potatoes and choice of bread (rye for her and an English muffin for me). They made my omelet wrong the first time and seemed a bit annoyed at having to remake it (I promise I was super nice about it!). We both thought the potatoes had a good spice but they were quite dry and my English muffin was dry as well. The omelet itself was good but just a normal omelet. Nothing bad, but nothing amazing. Maybe we just got the wrong things? All in all not a bad experience at all, just not as good as expected. read more

Great Downtown Brunch/Brekkie spot. They were slammed with regulars and travelers like us. Visiting from CO, stopped in and ordered the Veggie Benny, Veggie and Enchilada Omelettes. Veggie Benny was so money that it didn't even know it! Perfectly poached eggs drizzled with hollandaise sauce, fresh veggies on a stellar toasted English muffin. The omelettes were tasty, but the clear crème of the crop choice was the Benny! Great menu and full bar, they even will validate your parking. read more
Was able to be seated right away. Place had a cool vibe! There was a table that was next to us that had a 4" gap. First guys decided to leave because they would not put them in another spot. Minutes later they put two girls next to us, but they left as another two person table opened up! Decided on the cheesesteak Bennie. It was super good. The potatoes were seasoned well but have to agree with other Yelpers that they were lukewarm. read more

Dime Store is an establishment that serves breakfast / brunch / lunch. There are 2 locations and the one visited is in Detroit, Michigan. Dime Store is the 1st of this review series that I am writing on places that was visited during a recent trip to Michigan. This was definitely a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend! Thank you to Dime Store for having us start this trip off the right way w/ great food, cool ambiance & lovely service. From the moment we walked in, the tantalizing aromas of the various Breakfast / Brunch dishes was heavenly! We could not wait to view the menu & order - lol. Dime Store was buzzing w/ good energy of happy customers. We were seated immediately. Nadia was fantastic, attentive & was so patient w/ us as we had several questions regarding menu items. Nadia proceeded to provide service w/ a smile and we were appreciative. We ordered the following food & cocktails - 1.) Malted Belgian Waffle w/ Fresh Fruit (Strawberries & Bananas) 2.) Brioche French Toast w/ Fresh Fruit (Strawberries & Bananas) 3.) Bacon - Delightfully Crispy 4.) Scrambled Eggs w/ Spinach & Cheddar Cheese. 5.) Peach Mimosas - bronconess peach bubbly, w/ orange juice. 6.) Lafayette Lemonade Cocktail - vodka, housemate Lemonade, w/ fresh mint. 7.) Orange Creamsicle Cocktail - vodka, vanilla cream, orange juice, w/ mayo orange pop. When I say everything was absolutely delicious, I mean it. Everything we ate was fabulous. Special Thanks to Dime Store Manager Jeff & to Server Nadia for being so kind, hospitable, & for providing excellent customer service. Thanks to all of the hardworking Dime Store Staff! No, I’m sorry, we are a very small restaurant with limited seating options for large parties and can only accommodate parties of up to 8 people.
Do they have bottomless mimosas?
Hi Natalie! No, I'm sorry, we don't offer bottomless mimosas. (They're actually illegal in Michigan.) However, we do have one of the largest mimosas you'll find around town at 12 oz., as well as a mimosa pitcher option.
What is the average wait time for a party of 5?
Best time to go is within 20-30 mins of opening as you will not have to wait. Wait time steadily increases from that point and peaks at about 1.5 hours. I always go shortly after opening and have never had to wait.
Any good veggie options?
