Six of us arrived right at opening time with a reservation and were met with amazing hospitality right away. The host was so nice and accommodating to give us just the right table that suited one of us who uses a cane to get around. Zoey soon appeared to provide exceptional service. We ordered grits, the seasonal Shrimp Poboy, Burnt Ends, Kale salads, fried chicken and cocktails. Everything was AMAZING. Kale is really nothing to get excited about, but this salad was fire! So, so good just like a Neil Diamond song. The grits were very tasty as well. The vibe is very positive here with a charming ambiance. The experience was so great that my sister enjoyed a solo lunch the next day here. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Detroit!

Perfect place to walk to after a DSO show. Went for lunch after morning show. Had reservations although probably didn't need and was seated immediately. The service was great and fast. Introduced entire menu to us. The hush puppies were outstanding. The sauce they serve with was so good, I asked for some with my chicken. I would go back for this dish alone. Fried chicken is good. Green beans were okay.

Quick find close to our hotel in heart of Detroit. So glad this meal was everything a very hungry gal needed! The chicken sandwich with and order of fries was handed over freshly made, hot! The piece of chicken was plump, juicy, crunchy and bursting with such seasoned flavor! I typically need more spread on a sandwich but ther was more than enough spicy mayo with the slaw that meshed well. The slaw wasn't no ordinary topping either.. spice no tang! Oh and those garlic herbed doused fries with aioli ... hand- dipping crazy delight!

How many reviews will I end up giving this very Welcoming Restaurant..... We are beginning to know the staff. First A friend of ours is Moving and a few of us "ladies" wanted a " gonna miss You " dinner. Actually girls night out....Eagles was the ONLY Restaurant in Downtown Detroit that was willing to offer private seating and... ( this is HUGE) give individual checks. That worth 10 s alone. The way staff was Welcoming, Travis and personally steps in to let Yiu know You are important. Travis leads a Good Team....our group was kinda "askie" yet Shira our Waitress went past anything expected to make everyone feel special Because there were 11 of us she confirmed everyones order. The Bar tender the Staff that cleared the table did everything " just so" My only fear in posting this review is that everyone will go,and I won't be able to get back in... Oh the food Well see the photos You can't go wrong, GO

I'm a sit a the bar girl so great interaction with the bar tender so love the service from Govan.. Ambiance very nice booths and plenty of seats to enjoy the people watching on Woodward.

Holy moly this food is incredible. We ordered 1/4 chicken-dark meat, spoon bread, collards, and shrimp and grits. Where do I start-the chicken was so well seasoned and when hot honey is added it is out of this world. The shrimp and grits were savory and spicy and a bite of collards cuts through the richness and adds freshness to the spread. The spoon bread was absolutely incredible as well. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We will absolutely be back.

Stopped in here last night and had heard such great things about it. We had a reservation and were sat quickly. Unfortunately, our drinks took about 20 minutes (2 lemonades) to get to our table and our appetizers came out at different times. The hush puppies were fresh and hot. Once we got our entrees, one of the appetizers came out with it but majority of the food was cold. I got the chicken sandwich, which was probably the best meal out of everyone's. For the sides: -Mac and cheese lacked flavor -The biscuits were thick, which was nice -The fries were cold Our server was nice, which helped the other issues. Overall, it was an okay experience but I wasn't fairly impressed.

The service was good but I can't say I loved the food. The place is conveniently located on Woodward so you can grab a bite to eat before you head out to any event going on downtown. They are a sister restaurant to Bakersfield's, which is located across the street just down one block. I inhaled my food only because I was starving. The chicken is chicken and the Mac and cheese is plain noodles with a cheese sauce spread ontop with some bread crumbs. I came here during happy hour. It was empty so I easily grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and helpful. It's a spacious place with plenty of seating and TVs to catch any game you'd like to watch. I paid my bill and left my drink on the counter. Would I come back? Nah! One star for the service and another one for the cleanliness of the restaurant.

The Eagle. To start this review of this pure, elegant and masterpiece-deserved establishment, we have to direct the downright awful hypocritical Karens and "Michaels". You foos. That's why you don't stay in them streets too long so you don't inhale what the streets are smoking because apparently they be messing you up in the head. Our waiter, the sweetheart she is, was one of the most kind and loving waiters I have ever experienced. She really added to the vibe of Southern antics and culture. AND THE FOOD. After not eating for 8 hours and stopping here was an experience. The chicken, the lemonade, the HOT HONEY, even the pickles were perfect. AND PLEASE BUY THE HUSH PUPPIES. Our whole party tried these first and it all brought us to tears. Please go even if you have plans to enter an establishment such as HopCat or McDonalds. You are disgusting. The Eagle truly exemplifies what built our country and really what we as Americans are built on diversity and the greatest food known to man.

The Eagle Detroit located on Woodward Ave Downtown Detroit, MI Food: My group ordered two (2) chopped Cobb salads and the Spicy Chicken Dip. The dip was delicious, I wish they had larger portions nevertheless delicious! The Chopped Salad was delicious also full of all kinds of veggies and a great dressing. Service: Great service, friendly and accommodating. Ambiance: I loved the wooden accent throughout this establishment. Large bar area and plenty table seating.

You expect the food not to be lukewarm if you're the only patrons! Manager didn't supply the happy hour menu and it was 3:45, happy hour starts at 4. Ambiance was cozy and walking distance from LCA

Was reached out by the restaurant after my first experience didn't go that well and they generously comped my friend's and I's meal! We ordered SO much: fried chicken BLT, fried chicken, southern chopped salad, spoonbread, collard greens, fries, and homemade biscuits. Our main favorites were the southern chopped salad, fried chicken BLT, and the biscuits. Never thought a salad would be so good but man, it was delicious and fresh! The fried chicken was crispy and so tender. And the jam paired with the biscuits? It was perfection! The service was amazing and I appreciated how they cared to ensure I had a great experience!

Stopped in however didn't have reservations. We were able to get a seat but they asked that we keep it short. We were willing to do so since there was reservations for the table in an hour. The wait staff was polite and helpful. The food was great. Not sure you can get bad food here. The spicy honey sauce was amazing. The Mac n cheese is creamy. It was all good. Not a huge place but felt like it was the perfect size. They do have a large bar as well. Great stop! Get reservations on the weekend.

From the second you walk in, it's obvious this place isn't just another bar -- it's a neighborhood hangout with serious personality. The rustic-brick interior and laid-back energy set the tone perfectly for a night out with friends or a chill stop before hitting other downtown spots. The menu is packed with attention-grabbing comfort bar food that goes way beyond typical pub grub -- think flavorful sandwiches, crispy fries, and dishes that pair insanely well with a cold drink. One of the best parts? Wednesday night trivia. It's the kind of event that turns a midweek night into a destination night. Trivia kicks off in the evening and runs until the fun's done, complete with drink specials (like discounted pitchers and fun cocktails) and a crowd that's all about playing hard and laughing harder. Whether you're a regular trivia team or just looking to make new friends, it's a blast and a perfect reason to mark your calendar every week. The drinks lineup here is solid too -- from craft beers on tap to creative cocktails -- and the bartenders know what they're doing whether you're asking for something classic or bold. This was our first visit after hearing many great things so I was very excited to be surprised here for dinner! We had a reservation for our dinner date before seeing a show at LCA (which is only a short 5 minute walking distance), and Grey Ghost certainly delivered a meal of culinary excellence in a modern, yet simplistic atmosphere. The muted lighting gave the restaurant a relaxed, intimate setting which made the experience so much more enjoyable. Every staff member from greeting us at the door to the food runners to our wonderful server, Jenna, showed such passion and guest service. Jenna was personable, attentive, and gave helpful recommendations with the menu. We started with the brussels sprouts and mussels. It was evident in the flavors and the way the food is presented that there is a high level of attention to detail. The mussels were extremely fresh and the Thai basil cashew sauce was the perfect, savory-salty balance. The Brussels, however, blew us out of the water with the lime garlic glaze. For such a simple dish, enjoyed every crunch! Delicious! Given the special night out, we decided to splurge on the hanger steak and the filet, both medium rare and cooked perfectly. Sometimes I am reluctant to order filet due to price point and the hesitation of a small portion or having it cooked wrong- I am beyond glad I ordered their filet and I HIGHLY recommend. The generous cut was about 12oz, cooked to complete PERFECTION, and completely melted in our mouthes. The cheesy parsnip lasagna pairing was chef's kiss! While the hanger steak was less tender than the filet (hard to compare the two, really!) it was well-flavored and did not disappoint! The miso glaze that was on the hanger steak was absolute decadence, and will make you want to scrape every last bit off your plate. While the overall food and service experience is five-star, my only issue is with the dining layout. Besides a few stand-alone tables and one half-circle booth, much of the seating consists of the banquette and chair style (a bench on one side, chairs on the other). The placement of these tables felt crammed, making it difficult to get in and out of the seat without bumping or having to ask the neighboring table to scoot in. It's a slight detail, but giving guests a bit more privacy while dining and would elevate the comfort level considerably.

Lauren took great care of us and encouraged us to order whatever we were craving. Dangerous advice, but we happily accepted . Warning - the ratings are real. They're not a mistake. We started with our usual cocktail, the Instant Karma (5/5). It is the perfect balance of citrus and salt with a light cucumber note. Clean, refreshing, and it pairs well with everything. The roasted sweet potato (6/5) is one of the best vegetable dishes in the city. The caramelized exterior gives way to a soft interior, and the crispy quinoa adds a subtle light crunch that plays against the creamy texture. The salsa macha brings a smoky, nutty depth without the heat, and the crema ties it all together. I had to physically stop myself from scraping the plate (actually they had to take it away ). The tagliatelle (5/5) with beef bolognese and parmesan was flawless. The pasta has that ideal handmade chew, and the bolognese is rich without being heavy. The parmesan blends perfectly into the sauce and stands out in every bite. The potato pierogi (10/5) were the star of the night. Soft potato-filled pillows with horseradish crema, apple, and crispy shallot pieces create this perfect sweet, tangy, creamy, and crunchy bite. Each forkful felt intentional and balanced. I felt guilty, because in my head, I didn't want to share with my wife, but I did anyways . The cruelty of having to split an odd number of pierogis...well played...we should have just ordered another one. We also ordered the smoked potatoes and the pan roasted half chicken with sauce au poivre (always 5/5 for both) The smoked potatoes, with raclette, and crème fraîche, are always a must. These winter variation was just as good! The chicken remains one of the most consistently well-executed mains in the city. I have tried recreating it at home with the cold pan method and it never comes close. Every time we dine here, it feels like four or five different dinner experiences in one evening. Selden Standard continues to set the bar for us in Detroit. We love the staff, the food, and the memories tied to this place. Cheers to many more amazing years to come!

All of the food looked amazing, both on the menu and with what people were ordering at other tables. We chose a variety of dishes - cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, squid ink orecchiette, octopus, mushrooms, and scallops. I would recommend all of them, but the standouts for me were the Brussels sprouts and the scallops. Flavors were unique and textures were especially on point with those dishes. Service was good, but we both felt like it was slow. I'm not sure if you can make it out from the picture but it had plenty of everything on here. The bacon tasted great. Tots - they came out really hot and super crispy and actually gave you a heck of a lot of them too so that definitely helped but these are really good and you didn't even need ketchup.

We were in town for the weekend and trying to check out some iconic Detroit items. Per my research…read morethis was a good place to try a Boston Cooler (vanilla ice cream and vernor's ginger ale). We were nearby after brunch and walked the few minutes down to Mercury Bar's corner. Given the weather outside, we would have taken any place that had four walls and basic heating but the aesthetic of MB was fun, kinda like a retro diner. We took a seat at the bar. Since the Boston cooler was already decided, we just needed to pick out a beverage. I briefly considered trying one of their draught beers but then remembered that would not be good for the bladder and we were a ways from the hotel. They have creative cocktails so that made it easy. We ordered both the (and this is from memory because they savagely don't have a cocktail menu online) cherry poppins (cherry whiskey, neither of us remember what else was in it other than the chardonnay float which was very interesting) and a basil ?italian margarita with blackberry. Both were very strongly flavored, not for child-like palates. The Boston cooler, btw, was BETTER THAN SEX. Good thing that shit isn't anywhere near where I live that could be dangerous. We didn't try any of the food but it looked delicious especially the pile of fries I saw on some plates as they were coming out for other patrons. Good spot I'm glad we parked here for some of our afternoon.

Fantastic! Enthusiastic staff and perfect food. Cornbread can be hit or miss in general. This…read morecornbread is perfection. Crispy, soft, sweet, buttery. The lamb chops were top tier (that's what I ate) but the fried chicken that my wife had was mind blowing. I'm not generally given to hyperbole. Seriously: try this chicken. Also, this may be the best bread pudding I have ever had (though I think I had to order the ice cream separately).

I purchased gift cards during Covid to help support local restaurants during shut down, and I was pleasantly surprised that we could still use them in 2026! We had tried to use them in 2022, but were told the restaurant was small and could not accommodate our party of 8, even early on a Sunday. Fast forward 4 years! We made a reservation for a party of 4. It would've been nice to know the restaurant was on the second floor with no elevator, but perhaps that is my lack of inquiry. We were warmly greeted. Our server was absolutely fantastic! She made wonderful recommendations, and our meal was delicious! We had the crab dip, cornbread muffins, fried chicken and catfish entrees with yams and collard greens. Our family is from the South (KY, NC, TN, VA, MS, & AL) and we cook southern food on a regular basis. The yams were perfectly cooked and sweetened. The collard greens had just enough density, not runny or too salty. YUM!!! The chicken was tasty and moist. Catfish was seasoned and prepared perfectly and absolutely delicious also. Served with Frank's! We finished it off with the skillet cookie dessert, shared by all. A great way to end a really wonderful meal. The restaurant wasn't busy, so food service could've been a little faster, but we enjoyed a leisurely early dinner. My only other comment is that with glass top tables, you almost have to use Windex when tables turn over. The water streaks on all the glass top just make it look more like a greasy spoon or diner and does not do justice to the great service or the quality of the food. I don't usually do catfish at home, so we will be back for more!
