Unfortunately, I decided not to order anything because of the way we were treated. When we arrived, the restaurant was moderately busy and understaffed. We stood in line waiting but the employee never acknowledged us, greeted us or explained who was being served. We waited a while and then asked if we could place an order. He went off about being understaffed and contacted the owners let them know. When we tried to understand what was going on, he responded with an unnecessarily slick and dismissive attitude, saying, "I've got this person, I've got that person, I've got this." We had just walked in, we had no way of knowing who he was helping or how the line was being handled because he had not communicated anything to us. I understand that working alone can be stressful but customers should still be acknowledged and spoken to respectfully. Super cool dive bar near Wayne State University. It was a beautiful say and they had all the windows/shutters open. It was later in the afternoon so not many patrons. We ordered drinks and the Goup, a dip of cream cheese and anchovy paste among other ingredients. Do not let the anchovy paste scare you away. It is delicious. The vibe at Dirty Shake is immaculate. High top, bar, and lounge seating mean are available, good music plays, sports are on TVs with closed captioning. You order at the bar and a server brings you your food and drink where you're seated. The menu is limited pretty much to wings or burgers, so luckily they are delicious. What a fabulous bar! We chose it because we wanted a beer and a patio. Sadly the rain kept us inside, but our.window seats overlooking the patio were comfortable. Service was quick - order at the bar and they bring it to you. We ordered the Coronarita. Fun concept - similar to a margarita, but with Corona. I ordered it with Mezcal and my sister tried it with tequila. I liked the tasted at first but as the beer combined slowly with the other liquers it took on a funky taste we did not like. The cauliflower was excellent - the florets are dusted in rice flour and flash fried then topped with pepper jam. Just the right crispy texture and the pepper jam was the perfect compliment. Drink options are solid except for the wine, which all appears to come in cans and is frankly just not very good. Other options are better. Food was a bit hit-or-miss. The burger was good, but the very hyped up smoked chicken wings were frankly a bit bland and could've used some more seasoning. Their hot sauces are delicious and saved the day, but I'd probably not order the wings again. Someone at a bar recommended I come and try "Dirty Shake" it's a burger joint, like no other. When you come, it's a restaurant surrounded by an outdoor patio, pretty cool. There's plenty of outdoor seating for when the weather gets warm. The also have a garage door that goes up as well. Inside feels more like a lounge than a bar, it has sofa's tall boys and bar seating, the staff were amazing. They took our order and enjoyed helping, once the food came, I could tell they really like what they do. The French fries were crunchy and delicious. The burger with its double patties and cheddar cheese worked as well. I was happy with my entire meal. I'm so happy they're open until midnight during the week - it's so hard to get decent food after 10. The kitchen closes at 11:15, so we made it just in the nick of time yesterday, and everything was awesome - wings, chicharrones, regular burger and feta (vegetarian) burger with fries. And we couldn't skip the strong island. Friendly service, even though we were the last ones there, and fresh delicious food. They do really close at midnight, though - lights on, chairs stacked. Stumbled upon this place while in town, and returned a few times. Both the indoor and outdoor space are casually comfortable. Employees were friendly, there was a wide spectrum of music playing, great selection of beverages and a solid reasonably priced food menu. The grilled kolbassy with kraut and homemade pickles paired perfectly with our drinks. They are not lying their strong island is not for the faint of heart. Two will do. Despite the name, there's nothing dirty about Dirty Shake. Even the drinks are crystal clear, thoughtful, and well-crafted. I wish I had a picture of my Freezer Door Martini because it was so beautiful: perfectly chilled and crystal clear with a variety of additions (no vermouth!) that really highlighted the botanicals in the Beefeater Gin. Alas, sometimes I struggle with being "that person" who is taking pictures of everything vs being a good Yelper :-/ I did get a snap of the Strong Island Ice Tea which is, as the name implies, very strong but also sweet with the use of honey liqueur as the main sweetener. I like the coke float deal on top and the combination of high quality liquors such as Planteray Rum, Barenjager, etc. They also have food and we were impressed with the happy meal options and the fact you can still come in and get a $4 beer too as well as a variety of NA drinks. Luckily my friend grabbed us seats at the bar because as the night rolled on it was a packed house. The bartenders were fantastic and so helpful walking us through the menu. We both did a shot of tequila and ordered a cocktail from the unique list of boozy options. The overall theme here is a twist on the classics and over the top creations. We both had the Strong Long Island (limit 2) and the Dirty XAI. For food we ordered the Cauliflower which was absolutely amazing...pepper jam and topped with cilantro and scallions!!!! My friend ordered the House Burger and his face told the story! lol He said it was one of the best burgers he's ever had! I of course had to try it. It was our first time trying this place last week. We ordered 2 entrees and a 2 drinks and left a tab open just in case. As soon as we sit down we notice we are charged the full amount which we thought was weird for a tab that was supposed to be open? Anyways, we go to close the check and the server Shane gives us our total as 95.. keep in mind we had already been charged for our plates even though we hadn't closed the check. Its also worth noting that our plates weren't that expensive(a burger, wings, cauliflower, fries and two drinks)the math wasnt adding up so at this point im confused and I tell him that this total isn't right. He then realizes that he charged us 25 DOLLARS extra for 2 martinis that WERENT OURS. He then questions us and says "yes this is your check its under your name and this is correct for an order of 4 drinks" he then proceeds to question if we ordered martinis, we tell him we havent. Shane then proceeds to go through and charge us that amount and then says that he will void it so keep in mind we have 2 charges at this point. He gives us the receipt for the "voided" amount and THEN proceeds to redo the transaction and charge us the original 69 amount but keep in mind we had ALREADY been charged that amount. He explains that the previous 2 charges should be fully gone and voided so we agree and pay a THIRD time because he says it should be voided within the next hour at most. We also do ask if we could just get a refund, and he explained that he couldn't and needed to charge us for the whole meal because thats "how the system works". So at the end of the night we are out over 100 dollars due to their mistake that could have been avoided had they not put extra drinks on our tab. I will add that the night we went wasnt busy at all so I wasnt sure how this happened. Update: it's day 5 and we still have not gotten a refund. The charge is still pending. Keep this in mind we did go in person to find another way to possibly resolve this & their customer service was HORRIBLE. The manager laughed it off and told us "sorry next time we'll make sure to put the right drinks on the right tab". He didnt seem remorseful and had no intention of making the situation right. Its been almost a week since that day and we managed to get the charge for our check finalized but not the mischarged tab off of our account. read more
