OMG. Great food, service and wonderful music! Really really fun place. Free parking, A/C, what more could I want?
We were in town for the weekend and trying to check out some iconic Detroit items. Per my research this was a good place to try a Boston Cooler (vanilla ice cream and vernor's ginger ale). We were nearby after brunch and walked the few minutes down to Mercury Bar's corner. Given the weather outside, we would have taken any place that had four walls and basic heating but the aesthetic of MB was fun, kinda like a retro diner. We took a seat at the bar. Since the Boston cooler was already decided, we just needed to pick out a beverage. I briefly considered trying one of their draught beers but then remembered that would not be good for the bladder and we were a ways from the hotel. They have creative cocktails so that made it easy. We ordered both the (and this is from memory because they savagely don't have a cocktail menu online) cherry poppins (cherry whiskey, neither of us remember what else was in it other than the chardonnay float which was very interesting) and a basil ?italian margarita with blackberry. Both were very strongly flavored, not for child-like palates. The Boston cooler, btw, was BETTER THAN SEX. Good thing that shit isn't anywhere near where I live that could be dangerous. We didn't try any of the food but it looked delicious especially the pile of fries I saw on some plates as they were coming out for other patrons. Good spot I'm glad we parked here for some of our afternoon.
I know this is a burger bar but I just had one of the best fried bologna sandwiches I've had in a while. The person I was with enjoyed the burger and of course it was delicious. But I had to try the bologna once. I'm glad I did. It was stacked high with nice crispy edges, a good dijonaise and cheese. Hey server was I'm fast and efficient nothing outstanding but generally good service. If you haven't been to this place decor will keep your eyes busy for a while. The vibe is definitely City, and the food is good. May I suggest that you go during the week because on the weekends it can get packed.
This was probably about our 3rd time here but it had been probably almost 10 years since we here last. I'm happy to say the food - burgers and fries were just as good as I remembered. Service was excellent too. I got the bacon and cheddar burger, medium-well and it was cooked perfectly. They get such a great crust/sear on the outside while keeping it juicy. It's a great spot to stop by if you're visiting Michigan Central Station. It's like a diner meets a bar, so lots of fun vibes and great food and service.
Our server was nice, and the food looked good, but it was awful. Our burgers weren't cooked thoroughly and we didn't feel well after eating. I won't be back.
Tried this place out before a show at the Fisher Theatre. Has a cool old-school diner feel. They do have outdoor seating in the back for when the weather gets nicer. Our waiter was nice, but the service could have been better. My friend said that the best part of her meal was the milkshake. They have a lot of milkshake options - specialty and classic flavors. The French onion burger was alright, but nothing special. I upgraded my side to fried pickles, but they were mostly batter. The tater tot poutine and fried pickles were both very salty; I would not get them again.
We absolutely love this burger place! It's the perfect spot to eat outside on a nice day--the patio is awesome and very dog-friendly. The service is always super friendly, the atmosphere is great, and most of all, the food is incredible. I highly recommend grabbing a malt to go with your meal!
I came back and and got the California turkey. Everything from my last review still stand, that I love the vibes and the service. But this burger was a bit dry and I think it just needed another sauce to add some more depth to it.
Ordered takeout - portion for one order of fries was sufficient for two people with the order of two burgers. Rodeo Burger (not pictured - sorry), delicious! Ingredients-The Cowboy Candy is caramelized jalapeños, also includes bacon, cheese sauce, bbq sauce and onion rings. Pictured - Truffle Burger, medium done also delicious and juicy. Cooked to temperature and it did not disappoint! Service was excellent, prompt and fast. Receptionist remembered who we were once we picked up the order, as she had recognized our voice. Take-out containers are also compostable!
Had to hit this spot before I left Detroit and it was awesome food was good and Boston cooler was exactly wat it should be definitely a must in Detroit burger was fire fire fire. Place is nice and clean and service was great. Decorations are Awesome.
After my tour of Michigan Central, stopped by Mercury Burger Bar for lunch. We were greeted immediately upon entering and offered the option to dine inside or outside. It was a little too warm so we opted to eat in the dining area. Restaurant was clean and there was a TV with the Detroit Tigers game on. Our waitress was very attentive and made menu recommendations. The food was hot and fresh! Very tasty. I'd dine here again.
I had a cucumber gin-based drink that was refreshingly delicious but definitely strong. I ordered the truffle burger.. it was lightly seasoned, but the extra aioli gave it the flavor I was looking for. Overall, I wasn't impressed enough to go back.
Food is fresh, tasty, and delicious!! Our service has always been terrific. This place takes you back in time. Clean and great music playing all the time. The best Hummers in town!! Enjoy Parking behind and street parking as well. Booths and bar seating.
So this is kind of like an upscale dive bar if you thought about a '60s type of style to it. If that makes any sense. We have a lot of retro vibe going on, but it has a little hint of modernness though with the history. You'll come in and and you'll hear music playing in the background and it's a little bit aged, but it's a really chill vibe and it's not going to be the party kind of music you're looking for. Which is okay if that's not what you want! I have no issue with the service and everybody was pretty cool. The waitress was super friendly, especially when I couldn't make up my mind because there are so many options lol. It's tree pockets so you have to park on Michigan Ave but there is plenty of it. Depending on what kind of day or night it is though. But just be aware you have to pay for parking. Seasoned fries - the fries come very seasoned and super crispy. You get a ton of them as well. You may not even need ketchup actually. French onion - this burger was good. Came with some onion rings kinda on the side. It was cooked medium and they got it pretty right with the temp. The cheese was melted well and it was seasoned pretty good also. Blt - this was a good BLT and it was very stacked. I'm not sure if you can make it out from the picture but it had plenty of everything on here. The bacon tasted great. Tots - they came out really hot and super crispy and actually gave you a heck of a lot of them too so that definitely helped but these are really good and you didn't even need ketchup. read more

We came here on a super snowy frigid Sunday for a bite to eat before the Pistons game. This place isn't that big and most of the tables were occupied, but the bar had plenty of seating available so that's where we sat. My honey had been RAVING about their fried bologna sandwich. I am not a bologna person at all but he made me want to try it. He was absolutely correct, the sandwich was delicious. I had them hold the onions but other than that got everything it came with, along with fries and a s'more milkshake. The also offered boozy shakes and had a s'mores option for that but the liquor in it was either bourbon or whiskey and I wasn't in the mood for either. My honey got one also with onion rings. Our food came super quick and everything was piping hot. The sandwich was amazing, the djionaise on it really set the flavor off along with the toasted Texas toast bread. It came with smashed up better made plain chips on it but honestly it didn't need them. The sandwich was enormous, I had to cut it in half to tackle it. It also came with a cup of pickle slices, very tasty and tangy. My toes were abundant, hot, salty and crispy. The milkshake was huge and soooo good! Very creamy and decadent and the toasted marshmallow on top was the perfect touch, so gooey! My mother loves fried bologna sandwiches and I said I'm definitely coming back to bring her to try this one! read more
I love the Mercury. I just do. Old school diner feel with tasty, feel good juicy burgers, decadent milkshakes, and a full bar. Beer taps feature Michigan made beers that come from Lake Michigan to the Detroit River and everywhere in between. I'm in love with their tots--get them with poutine or chili cheese. There's even a s'mores milkshake that--are you sitting down?--comes with a fire-toasted marshmallow! Seriously, you cannot lose at the Merc. read more
My nephew & niece took my sister & me to the Mercury Burger Bar for an early Mothers Day. It's one of their favorite places. I liked the kind of new bar feel of the place, and the aroma of the burgers was amazing. I got the juicy burger, after my niece had described it. It seemed small, but it turned out that I could only eat half -- perhaps because of all the cheese! My sister & I also shared an order of poutine, which I'd had only once before. This was good, but we both agreed that it still needed a bit of ketchup for contrast. I would definitely go back if I was in the area. read more
I don't eat burgers very often these days, so when I do, I want it to be worth it and this place definitely is. I used to come here fairly regularly when I worked nearby, so I'm kind of surprised I had never written a review. We visited on a beautiful summer day, so we wanted to sit outside on the spacious patio. It's nothing fancy, but it was perfect for our needs. At first, there was some confusion over which server was covering our table, but after that was resolved, we were well taken care of by Hannah. I went for the French Onion burger, which is exactly what it sounds like and was quite delicious. My wife is an olive lover, so she went for their Flint burger. As you can see in the photo, there was no shortage of olives! We also enjoyed an order of onion rings. Definitely a spot to check out when you're spending time in Corktown! read more
We finally made it to try this place out. I ordered the French onion burger and it was cooked exactly how I like. Unfortunately, my seasoned fries were cold and really not much flavor. I didn't see any spices or seasoning on them either. After a couple of drinks and the other half of my burger packed up to go, we thanked Katie for her friendly and kind service then left. Decent but not epic read more

We had a fried bologna sandwich, well made and with yummy flavors! Sat at the dog-friendly cool and ample covered patio, breeze coming through so it was not hot. Paid parking lot right at the back, in for lunch on a Monday, so not busy at all. Service was great and ambience was chill! read more
Loved this place! Stopped in for lunch after working up an appetite at the Detroit Auto Show. Plenty of seating at the bar and at booths and the basement has additional seating and looked super cute. We sat at the bar and service was prompt and friendly. Food was delicious, we all loved our burgers (good amount of pickles is always a plus). Fries were well seasoned and fresh. Would come back for sure! read more

I've wanted to hit this place up for years. I found out about their grilled bologna sandwich. Order the sandwich with no sides but I did add Mayo. When it was served I honestly was underwhelmed. It looked small and sparse. I didn't Oder any sides or add ons. WOW! So delicious and satisfying. the thin slices of bologna are crisp like bacon. The pickles and crushed Better Made chips set it off. I probably didn't need the Mayo too much Mayo. Next time I will order the cowboy candy. Friendly service and a fun, chill environment. Looking forward to trying a burger. read more

I was craving a burger and was near Corktown, so I headed to Mercury to try their food, somehow for the first time ever (I've stopped in before for drinks). The Bleu Apple hit the spot. It was well-seasoned and cooked, and was juicy on every bite. The bacon was just right -- crispy but not burnt. 5/5 on the burger itself. The tater tots, however, tasted dry (maybe a bit over cooked?), which was a bummer. Drinks were good. Service was prompt, but they seemed stressed out about a big group walking in, so it wasn't particularly chatty or friendly (which is fine by me). read more

We finally hit the Mercury Bar for my hangover. Located in Corktown. We sat in a huge booth. Plenty of room. It was the perfect lunch. The service was prompt & friendly. We loved our poutine with fresh cut fries- so yummy. The tots were cooked to perfection - nice and crunchy. The burgers were delicious & oversized. I wish I had room for more! I was full for hours. We will definitely be back. read more

Is there a kids menu? UPDATE: we visited 12/20/2018 and there IS NOT A KIDS MENU! Be advised! No big…
Yes! I would suggest patio area. Kids can move around and not bother people.
Anybody know where to find the nutrition info for this restaurant?
Honestly, I wouldn't bother. Just put it aside &!enjoy the moments. Then, get back on track, tomorrow.
