This is an update to my previous review of HopCat Detroit. I still love the food and the lively, energetic ambiance here. The fresh, flavorful meals and the downtown vibe make it one of my favorite spots to grab a bite or hang out with friends. That said, I want to elaborate on my not-so-great dine-in experience from before. One night I decided to eat in, and while my waitress was genuinely nice and attentive, the experience took a weird turn when my meal was brought out. The guy delivering it just walked past me, dropped the plate on the table with a loud clank, and didn't greet me or even acknowledge me at all. It was jarring -- not only did it feel careless, but it completely broke the warm, fun vibe I'd come in expecting. On top of that, I had the app downloaded to earn rewards points, but my waitress never added them, which was frustrating enough that I ended up deleting the app. That one visit definitely stood out as an exception in an otherwise positive history with this location. Since then, I've had better experiences with staff, and the food and overall energy of the place continue to shine. Despite that one odd incident, I still highly recommend HopCat for the atmosphere, creative menu, and fresh food. Overall reaction... great beer selection, food wasn't bad. I didn't really LOVE the pickle back chicken sandwich. It was incredible bland for something that it says is pickle brined with dilly sauce. It really just tasted like bun and chicken. The cosmic fries are not bad, but they came out a bit overly salty this time. The service was decent, wasn't particularly fast but it was friendly. We stopped in yesterday for lunch and I saw the Tropicola Dirty Soda on the menu. I LOVE a Dirty Dr. Pepper, but this one was wayyy too heavy on the lime. I would not order it again. However, the Bacon Jam Session burger was DELICIOUS. It had bacon, pepperjack and peanut butter. Perfect! Our server was also one step ahead and knew we would need that cheese sauce for our Cosmik Fries. Definitely a must when you visit. read more

We had an event here and rented out the entire top floor. It was a fun, casual vibe with a buffet and open bar. The food was tasty. I didn't have any of the appetizers, but the salad, Mac n cheese, onion rings, and veggie burgers were good. So were all the desserts. We loved our first visit to HopCat! We loved each and every dish that we tried, including what we ordered on the kids menu! Our server did seem newer but that didn't stop her from giving us top notch service! We ordered a side caesar salad, the supper club wrap which my bestie LOVED! A side of the Mac & cheese which had great flavor and texture so I'm super thrilled to go back and try one of their loaded Mac options! We came for brunch on Sunday and there were 4 of us total. We ordered food at about 11:45am and we didn't receive our food until 1pm. Shout out to HopCat Detroit for taking out reservation of 20 people before a Tiger's game for a delicious brunch, when another establishment canceled our reservation 3 days before and no other place in the entire city would take a reservation on a game day! Got sat right away and our server was attentive but unfortunately once we ordered our food took over 45 minutes. Our server kept coming by and apologizing but I believe they were short staffed and did have a couple large parties. Unfortunately my friends food was cold but we were running out of time so we just continue eating. We got the Hottie Hash, Sausage Biscuit Sammy & the Avocado Smash Toast. BUG IN MY FOOD check your food here !!!!! This place is horrible me and my son went here to get lunch they have new management. We ordered a hop kitten burger and lemonade for my son and a beyond burger and fries and beer for me . My order came and I picked up a fry and started eating when a bug came crawling out the the pile of fries and I was soooo disgusted I calmly waved to my waitress who came over saw the bug in my food and said "oh my god I'm so sorry" Then proceeded to take my plate and ask if I wanted anything else instead I stated no then she left and the manager approached my table and said she has ate out at place s and there was bugs in her food that this was normal for eating out it happens I thought that sounded soooo disgusting and not true because me and my son eat out all the time. The fact she was the manager of Hopcat and that's what she came to my table to say was gross to me. She was rude and proceeded to tell me how she would take my meal of the bill but I would have to pay for my son meal and beer was also gross to me. But I did pay with no problem and left the establishment immediately. This place would get a negative 10 stars if I could it. Some places should just not be in business and the manager made the situation soooooo much worst if this is the management they have I can only imagine the kind of things they allow in that kitchen I will NEVER eat here again. Low/high/booth and bar seating. Two full bars upstairs and down. Outdoor rooftop area but a little simple with plastic chairs and tables. Wifi. Relatively clean. Rear lot or street metered parking. Well man did that cat hop in my mouth. The workers greeted us with a warm welcome. The wall art was amazing, there was a massive mural of a sea environment that was very cool. There was also a few chalk board arts of happy hour, we did not show up in time. The seats were really comfortable especially the higher ones, I'm sure the green booths were also very comfortable. The green color was really nice. The tables were smooth and extra clean. When I walked in the bar caught my eye immediately. The bottle cap bar decore was awesome. And the bar taps came in different shapes and sizes and colors. I got the signature double burger it was awesome. I knew it was a good choice as soon as I bit into it. The bathrooms were nice but the tile on the walls of green and orange really matched the dark wood as an accent color of just tile. The sink in the bathroom was black and white marble that was very nice. The faucet was gold and was really nice the handle was very slim and I liked that. The lighting was unique and used quite a few different kinds of lights and the green boards on the side area was really nice. And very spacious. read more
