Overall reaction... great beer selection, food wasn't bad. I didn't really LOVE the pickle back chicken sandwich. It was incredible bland for something that it says is pickle brined with dilly sauce. I placed my order waited 20 minutes went to pick up my food. Got my food. They're missing some things and they gave me the completely wrong wings. I call on the phone. They say 20 minutes. I come back 20 minutes later. They haven't even made my food. They said what's the problem. The manager was absolutely so rude to me. Did not apologize. Absolutely terrible customer service. The hostess was apologizing. She was very, very nice and the waitresses were taking care of me. They asked me if I needed some water. The manager did nothing absolutely atrocious. I will never ever recommend hopcat in Detroit. She mumbled said she was gonna cut my food. I made sure that I got her recording saying that she is going to compensate me for the wings after waiting for two hours for my food. read more

This is an update to my previous review of HopCat Detroit. I still love the food and the lively, energetic ambiance here. The fresh, flavorful meals and the downtown vibe make it one of my favorite spots to grab a bite or hang out with friends. That said, I want to elaborate on my not-so-great dine-in experience from before. One night I decided to eat in, and while my waitress was genuinely nice and attentive, the experience took a weird turn when my meal was brought out. The guy delivering it just walked past me, dropped the plate on the table with a loud clank, and didn't greet me or even acknowledge me at all. It was jarring -- not only did it feel careless, but it completely broke the warm, fun vibe I'd come in expecting. On top of that, I had the app downloaded to earn rewards points, but my waitress never added them, which was frustrating enough that I ended up deleting the app. That one visit definitely stood out as an exception in an otherwise positive history with this location. Since then, I've had better experiences with staff, and the food and overall energy of the place continue to shine. Despite that one odd incident, I still highly recommend HopCat for the atmosphere, creative menu, and fresh food. I'll continue coming back and will share more updates (and pics) along the way. read more

Pretty good menu and beer selection. Decent but not amazing service. The fish and chips were lightly battered and the battered and seasoned fries didn't disappoint. However, the coleslaw was dry and had a sour taste to it. We did not eat it. The quinoa citrus salad was great but while I expected a bed of quinoa at first I thought there was very little of it. As I continued to eat it I realized there was actually none at all. I had said something to our server but she seemed bewildered and didn't seem to be familiar with the menu item in question. We stopped in yesterday for lunch and I saw the Tropicola Dirty Soda on the menu. I LOVE a Dirty Dr. Pepper, but this one was wayyy too heavy on the lime. I would not order it again. However, the Bacon Jam Session burger was DELICIOUS. It had bacon, pepperjack and peanut butter. Perfect! My burger was utterly tasteless - no seasoning whatsoever. Sad pre-shredded lettuce that was completely wilted. Our server did seem newer but that didn't stop her from giving us top notch service! We ordered a side caesar salad, the supper club wrap which my bestie LOVED! A side of the Mac & cheese which had great flavor and texture so I'm super thrilled to go back and try one of their loaded Mac options! Well man did that cat hop in my mouth. The workers greeted us with a warm welcome. The wall art was amazing, there was a massive mural of a sea environment that was very cool. There was also a few chalk board arts of happy hour, we did not show up in time. The seats were really comfortable especially the higher ones, I'm sure the green booths were also very comfortable. The green color was really nice. The tables were smooth and extra clean. When I walked in the bar caught my eye immediately. The bottle cap bar decore was awesome. And the bar taps came in different shapes and sizes and colors. I got the signature double burger it was awesome. I knew it was a good choice as soon as I bit into it. The bathrooms were nice but the tile on the walls of green and orange really matched the dark wood as an accent color of just tile. The sink in the bathroom was black and white marble that was very nice. The faucet was gold and was really nice the handle was very slim and I liked that. The atmosphere is perfect for watching sports, hanging out, and having great food/drinks. Shout out to HopCat Detroit for taking out reservation of 20 people before a Tiger's game for a delicious brunch, when another establishment canceled our reservation 3 days before and no other place in the entire city would take a reservation on a game day! We came for brunch on Sunday and there were 4 of us total. We ordered food at about 11:45am and we didn't receive our food until 1pm.
