We ordered the Caesar salad, small Margherita pizza, small White Cheesy pizza (half chicken, half bacon), Wagyu beef sliders with fries, and the Bangin' Brass shrimp tacos. Everything came out hot and flavorful, and hit the spot after a long night out. If it's a busy night, expect a bit of a wait and slower service -- but the staff are really friendly and clearly doing their best. The atmosphere is lively, casual, and perfect for grabbing a bite after a concert or game. Overall, Brass Rail is a solid go-to for late-night eats in Detroit. Brass Rail Pizza Bar is a go-to spot for us when we're in Detroit for concerts and sporting events since it's close to Little Caesars Arena and the stadiums. They also usually take reservations via OpenTable, which is really helpful when you have a large group or want to make sure you can get a table before an event. Recently we stopped in before the Incubus show at LCA and grabbed a bite to eat. Our group of four was seated right away and we chose to sit on the patio which is out front on the sidewalk. The menu has pizza, salads, burgers, and tons of beer on tap. Nate got a personal sized build your own pizza, which we shared. The pizza was tasty and a great size for a light dinner. The personal size (9") pizza starts at $12 which isn't bad. Our food was pretty quick to come out and the only issue was being asked for money while sitting out on the sidewalk patio. Not a huge deal but I know some people might be put off by that. Sidenote, once we came here before a Red Wings game and sat at a table near Flavor Flav! This place is the Detroit icon, definitely some place that you need to stop in before you hit any of the sports events or if you need a pizza afterwards. The staff was friendly, however we went in very early in the day and it wasn't very busy and either was the staff. Which meant they all gathered back in the corner chatting. I understand that the bar wasn't full but then again it didn't look like it was opened when we came in and there was no one to welcome us it took a little bit for us to get our first drink. I believe that the place has just been overhauled and remodeled, it has definitely lost some of its character from the olden days, let's hope that it can maintain the business it needs to stay open. read more

Very busy so it took a moment for someone to help us but once we had a server it went smoothly. Brussel sprouts were great! Crispy and flavorful - maple flavor with cheese on top. Onion rings were crispy and the onion didn't come out when you took a bite! I enjoyed my black bean burger with a side salad. Many TVs on the walls so everyone will have a good view of a screen. There's signs saying the place is under construction so maybe that's why it felt a little dirty? The door on one of the bathrooms stalls didn't close or lock and it just didn't feel very clean. I know Brass Rail is highly regarded but I was greatly disappointed. I had a personal pizza made as a calzone. It seemed to me I got crust and grease, couldn't finish it, left hungry. The service was very good, we had two servers (I assume the one was being trained) and they were on top of everything but to be fair, we were one of two tables. I hope they stay successful as it is downtown and we are new to having a downtown dining scene but I won't be back. read more

I came here with family during the NFL Draft and had a great experience. I was downtown again for a concert so decided to stop in and get a beer before my show started. I thought there was a car outside blasting music; the entire bar was being rattled by bass. After several minutes I realized it wasn't from a car, but rather a club. Whether the club is next door, upstairs, I couldn't tell. The bartender tried to tell me but it was so loud I couldn't hear her. Totally ruined the experience. I don't mind loud music; I was going to see Meshuggah, but bass rattling the bar with no other music isn't pleasant. I finished my beer quickly and left. For my pre-carbohydrate load for the Detroit International Half Marathon, I ordered from Brass Rail Pizza Bar via Yelp with Grubhub delivery. At the time, Brass Rail Pizza Bar was one of the few restaurants within a radius of my hotel that offered delivery with a reasonable fee and no minimum ordering fee. Via Yelp, it was ranked number 11 within a radius of my hotel and noted for some of its vegan options. As a vegetarian, the only item on the menu that had my interest was the Vegetarian Pizza which was what I ordered. I would have considered the Vegetarian Calzone, but there were no images shared of it that would have helped gain my interest, so I did not bother. It took forty-nine minutes from the time my order was acknowledged by Grubhub to the arrival of it at my hotel. The deliverer who delivered my food contacted me from a Chicago area code which resulted in a friendly exchanged greeting and smile once encountered in the hotel lobby. The size of the Vegetarian Pizza was surely satisfying for me. And it was only a 9" pizza. I could only imagine what the other sizes look like if that was a 9". I enjoyed it entirely; it was neatly presented, fresh, topped with an ample number of vegetables, and delicious! I assure you that all of it was eaten the next day. It was last night's dinner turned into the next day's lunch post completion of me running the Detroit International Half Marathon. All in all, I had a pleasant ordering experience with Brass Rail Pizza Bar. The mozzarella sticks were bomb. Perfectly crispy and extra cheesy, just like they should be. The marinara sauce that accompanied them was delicious. We tried the margherita pizza and it was amazing. The small size was perfect for two people after an appetizer- two pieces each. My only annoyance was that one slice had an enormous tomato and barely any cheese. The hostess was hustling hard, I was impressed. Our server seemed like she had too many tables so wasn't as attentive as she could have been but that's not her fault. All In all, a tasty joint. I enjoyed my visit here very much. I was attending a concert at the Fillmore, and wanted some thing good for dinner where I could be in and out in a relatively short period of time. When I arrived I was pleased to find that I was able to make my way straight to the bar where I received attentive and prompt service. The beer list is a mile long and included a selection of sours which I was happy for. I ordered their cordon bleu pizza I was delighted at how fresh everything was and the finish on the crust. This is a wonderful item that I will definitely get again when I come back. I noted that they have some pinball and video games that looked interesting, but didn't have a chance to check them out. Came here before a tigers game last week and my lasting impression was, "meh". I appreciate their unique pizza flavors but the supreme was soggy amd the cordon bleu was very oily/greasy. The service ambience was loud and the service was lacking. Part way through, my brother joined us and I watched out server walk into our section 3x and glance over our table before he went to the bar for a drink. Every time i got up I was treated to a hot bare light bulb in my face [im 6' tall] because the tables were set up so the bulbs were in the aisles between tables. The drinks were so expensive, each one cost as much as a whole bottle [and we werent ordering craft cocktails, just bourbon on the rocks]. The proximity to the ballpark was the best thing. But there are plenty of other places to try so ill probably go somewhere else next time read more

After searching too long for parking to get to or original destination we decided we just didn't have time to get there. So we just went to the closest restaurant we could see because we were all hungry and the area has changed SO much since the last time I was there before the pandemic. So in comes the Brass Rail Pizza Bar. The server was great. But the pizza was a bit... over saucy for my taste. My son ordered the kids chicken tenders and barely touched them. It might just have been him being picky. But if they are good, it was an excellent value for the price. My one complaint was that for the middle of a weekday and being next to empty the place was a little sticky. It just could have been cleaner. This was prime time to get that done. But when the servers weren't serving they were in the back on their phones. I mean, I guess that's standard now though. I will say, if you check in there is a discount. I didn't realize this until after we paid. I frequently forget to check in. But thankfully they gave us a military discount and it ended up being the same. So that was nice. I think if they work on the over saucing and cleaning I would definitely give it another star. But I don't think this will be my first choice the next time I go into the city. read more

Came into town to see my Cincinnati Reds beat up on the Tigers. Went here my first night in town to watch the remainder of game 1 of the series. Being that the Reds won and I'm feeling good, that might have something to do with this review;). All jokes aside, very good food here and I would recommend all Detroiters or those just visiting. The bartender was ultra cool and not pushy, but very patient and cordial. I ordered the sliders for my meal there and an entire meat lovers pizza for my next day since I would be working all day. Admittedly I was a little weird sitting at a bar and drinking my diet Coke, but we all don't drink alcohol, contrary to what tv would make you think. Service was slow. Very slow. 2 of 4 in our party ordered Chicken Caesar wraps receive just salad a took 30 more minutes to get it corrected. Caesar wrap were dripping in dressing. We missed the opening show at Fillmore; it should take taken 40 minutes was 1.5 hours. Everyone else's food was good. Bar service very slow as well. I attend a couple lions games every season with my friend who is a season ticket holder. He loves to stop by the brass rail before and after the game for drinks and a bite to eat. Last month we popped in before the game and I ordered a Caesar salad and my friend ordered tenders and fries! I've worked the bar industry on and off for over 26 years and I've seen this before from lazy cooks. They'll make fries in advance and when a customers order a meal with fries they attempt to "deep fry" then again which all that does is leave them greased soaked and wimpy looking fries! The garden salad had ham in it even though it didn't say it on the menu. I had ordered a medium cheese pizza and it came very late, a long time after the rest of my party got their food. I also saw at least two more parties that got their food before I got my pizza. We asked for the staff to turn on the TV, but they ignored us; we asked two times before giving up.
