This place is amazing! There's a ton of food options nearby but FB stands out. We stopped in after visiting another restaurant unsatisfied. The burgers and atmosphere drew us in. We went with a basic (honestly anything but) burger with bacon, sweet chili mayo and shoestring fries on top. It was one of the best things I ate all weekend. With a limited time in Detroit I even considered going back for a second time. We also tried their mini churros which may be the cities best cheap it. $1 per mini churro which honestly aren't even that mini is a screaming deal that everyone should know about. They were hot, flavorful and the hint of orange was a lovely addition. Had we not been stuffed I would've ordered more, do not skip on this. If you haven't been to Frita Batidos yet and you're wondering if it's worth it I highly recommend checking it out. I've been to the location in Ann Arbor and have wanted to come to this location for some time now. Since I was already downtown for an event, I drove a few miles to get here and it was worth it. It's obviously just like the Ann Arbor location but substantially less busy (thank goodness.) I walked in and it's a smaller version of what I'm used to. Menu is up on the wall and the two gentleman at the counter were friendly and helped me place my order. I went with a burger with muenster cheese with an egg on top along with their coleslaw instead of fries. The coleslaw was actually really good! (not all coleslaws created equal. Let me tell you about it!) My food did take a while to come out but it was quite delicious. I forgot they have water jugs at the table and I could've gone without the sprite, but it was a throwback bottle in the glass bottles and I couldn't resist. I know they have the benches to encourage community and getting to know other people outside of your party, but sitting there makes my butt and back sore after a while. Place is clean and well organized which I loved, and it's in the district so you're a stones throw from the ballpark. It wasn't too bad... it had been about 25 minutes and I inquired about the fries. Well, I was informed that the large party that took my order of fries. It didn't help that whoever brought the food out just brought it to the large group/table and did call out the order. The young man that was at the counter, was able to get me some fries however they were old and really greasy. As I waited for the fries they offered plantains, I said why not.... Well I will just make them at home-- they didn't drain the grease. They were just four big plantains that I dabbed with paper towel. Fun place within walking distance of Fox Theater, Comerica Park, and Ford Field in Detroit. Great location with a fun cobblestone street out front that's closed to traffic. Went with a group and ordered a variety to try everything. The fritas ranged from "meh" to "good." Everyone ranted and raved about the fish and the chicken. Nobody could eat the chorizo - not because it was spicy (we love spicy) but because it was mushy and the flavor was an odd combination of sweet and salty - which sounds good, but wasn't. The beef was very, very well done - we are more of a medium rare / medium group so the beef one wasn't finished etiher. The pork frita bowl was probably my favorite bite of the day - everything else was a bit too heavy on the shoestring fries and too light on the meat and fresh ingredients. We liked the fried plantains. The batidos were okay. For the size and flavor, I don't know that we'd get them again. They gave away a couple fried churros (maybe as a marketing promotion?) and I would definitely order those if I came back. Servers were nice and the food came out promptly. The chorizo burger, loco style add jalapeños was really delicious, though it was too loaded and saucy to effectively eat in hand. Definitely needed the utensils! The garlic cilantro fries were super crisp and well-seasoned, and the conch fritters tasted amazing and had great texture! The coconut cream and passionfruit batidos are sweet and delicious, but the hibiscus lemonade was a tad too strong/sour and needed to be cut with some water. The churros with chocolate sauce are insanely massive and absolutely scrumptious. "Best churro I ever ate" -- my dining group. Now to the one star deduction- the cleanliness of the tables, floor, and especially the bathrooms were seriously lacking. Frita Batidos Detroit is an okay post game meal or snack. There is no parking since it's on a walkable street. The theme is very minimalistic. It works great for big groups with the long style benches and line ordering. The customer service was attentive and helpful. The staff did a great job at explaining the food. My group ended up getting the Pick Your Frita where shoestring fries are included in the burger and toppings were a la carte. My Chicken Frita was good even if I had to eat it with a fork and knife cause it was so loaded and messy. The chicken was well seasoned. However, the fries on my sandwich were a bit soggy. They're about the size of a baby lizard. They had entirely too much sugar/cinnamon coating and it was definitely a surprise when I open my bag to see what I had. As it was still happy hour, I ordered the $4 daiquiri (think it's usually $10-$12). This was straight lime. Borderline undrinkable. Last time, it was much better. If you love citrus, this would be perfect. I could only have a couple sips because it was simply too much. Onto the star; the frita. Last time I went with the Cuban which was very underwhelming. This time I went with the double beef frita and added muenster and bacon. The patties were smallish but thick which made eating the burger a little difficult (just pressed it down like crazy). They were very well seasoned though and had good flavor. The buns were fine, but got progressively soggier and lost all internal integrity by the last 1/4 of the burger. The thick cut bacon was pork belly. A well cooked pork belly was delicious. This was more fat than actual meat. The frita comes with fries on it and those were well salted and had a nice texture and overall a good flavor profile. Come here. Get a frita. Skip the bacon. Very solid burger. read more

Frita Batidos hosted my fiance's birthday party and I can't say enough good things. The staff were attentive and welcoming and I loved working with the events manager, Jessica, who was bubbly, responsive, and accommodating. They gave us full access to the restaurant several hours before our guests arrived so we had plenty of time to decorate and they even cut and served the birthday cake that we brought. Delicious! The burger with the red sauce from the table was so saucy and greasy and good! I loved every bite of the delicious chorizo burger with cheese and egg added on top. The Ann Arbor location is far better than this one. First of all there were no trash cans in this place which is just odd unless they want people to just leave the scraps out. I've been to the Ann Arbor location once and I loved it so much, so I decided to stop at this place, get takeout and head home as I was downtown. The person taking my order was awkward and didn't say a word to me. I ordered my Frita and said "with everything on it" as in like what comes with it. I got home and there's a whole bunch of things in it and there was an egg with the yolk melting and oozing into my food which immediately was disappointing bc It's not my personal taste. I think this person who took my order took it to the extreme literal sense and put ALL toppings in the entire restaurant onto my frita bc that's how soggy and packed it was. It's partially my fault for saying "everything on it" but again he didn't speak a word to me -just stood there like a robot, this confusion could have been avoided if it was better customer service. As avid fans of Frita's, we've frequented the Ann Arbor location numerous times. However, our recent visit to the Detroit branch was our first. The service was prompt, and the ambiance was delightful. We particularly appreciated the framed Frita Detroit shirt on the wall. The star of the show, though, was undoubtedly the Hibiscus batido. We also ordered burger and garlic cilantro fries. Each bite was a mouthwatering, and full of flavor. We opted for the beef burger paired with the garlic cilantro fries, and plantains. All the items exceeded our expectations, leaving us eagerly anticipating our next Frita's experience. The only reason I gave this takeout experience a four stars and not five stars is because they honestly got our order incorrect, and we didn't realize it until we left the place. Frita Batidos is a fun casual dining spot by the Fox Theatre. It's hard to find that amongst all of the fancy restaurants in this neighborhood. Sometimes it's nice to dine out with friends downtown without the pretentiousness or having to break the bank. I recommend ordering the very filling Frita burger and making it Loco. I also like the Batido which are tropical shakes made with fruit and Guernsey Dairy vanilla bean ice cream. I was not a fan of the Tropical Salad. For $12, the Tropical Salad was mostly lettuce topped with 5-6 slivers of mango. I added organic tofu for $2 and expected a lot more pieces. For a healthier meal, I suggest the Frita Bowl. read more

The cilantro-garlic fries were uber-garlicky (my favorite) and were the cherry on top. I visited on a Saturday so it was understandably packed with people!
