    Chicken Frita

First time eating here. Went after a movie on a Sunday. You eat at shared picnic tables, ordering your food at the counter. It's then delivered to you. We tried a chicken Frita, the chorizo, Frita, and one of the beef Fritas. They all come with fries on top. We also added the tropical slaw. The coconut batido and the chocolate batido were delicious. Very fresh and tasty food. The service was friendly and quick. Great casual eatery. Give some Cuban street food a try!

(Kari's Rating 8.5/10) I stopped in with a large group of about 15 last Friday on a snowboarding trip, there was a line out the door, so I knew this place was already very popular as it was negative degrees outside. I haven't been to many Cuban places, but I actually was very impressed by the burger. I've been to many burger places in Chicago but none that come with plantains. I would say the burger was relatively average overall. I got mine with bacon which was so thick it almost was like pork belly! Something that was different about this burger was the bun was a little bit sweet, which was a nice change up from the savory patty. Let me also preference. I'm not someone who likes fries on their burgers so I definitely gave those to my friend. The thing that took the cake for me were the plantain chips. Almost everyone in my group ordered a pack so I was like maybe this is too much overkill, I couldn't have been more wrong. I needed an entire pack of those. They were sweet. They were salty, they came with us delicious avocado garlic guac. I think they were a little expensive for what they are, but I would've happily paid six dollars. What surprise me the most was the drink. It was negative degrees outside and everyone in our group ordered a Batido. I got the coconut one and it was perfect. Perfectly creamy, perfectly sweet, icy, but not chunky. I would drive all the way from Chicago to Michigan to get this batido again. We ended up getting the cinnamon sugar plantains for dessert, and I didn't care for the texture as they were relatively heavy. I think the denseness took away from the light texture I was expecting. Overall relatively good place but now I know what to get!

I cannot count the number of people that recommended Frita Batidos while I was visiting Ann Arbor for a few days! Multiple people said this was their favorite restaurant in town, so I had to give it a try! I'm not quite sure what I expected, but it's a Cuban burger restaurant and bar. You walk up and order and then can eat there for a full service meal, but I took my food to go. I ordered a chorizo burger with Muenster, avocado, and cilantro lime salsa. I thought it was really good and incredibly filling. It was served with shoe string fries on the burger so it was definitely a heavy meal. I dipped it in some siracha sauce for some extra spice but personally didn't think it was spicy enough. Overall the burger was delicious, but I wish they had a spicy chorizo or something with a little bit more of a kick. I didn't try any of the drinks but they looked delicious. I'd love to come back and eat at the restaurant and order some of their drinks. Overall, I see the hype around Frita Batidos and think it was one of my favorite restaurants I tried in Ann Arbor

Wow-One of my favorite Ann Arbor eateries!

Frita-Frita- Frita Hip-Hip- Hooray!!! Best All Around Eating Establishments EVER! Normally I wouldn't take the time to review over and over and over again because generally a place isn't consistently great. You can't say that about Frita's. It is consistently great it's even consistently fabulous!!!! Tonight I capped it off by trying the Chorizo Frida which is the only regular Frita that I had not tried. It will be one of my favorites and I will definitely order it again! I have never had chorizo that wasn't greasy and this was not the least little bit and was spiced to perfection. Need I remind you that Frita is a real person.... who brought real traditional recipes to her very real Cuban establishment here in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor. She has brought in her menu and now offers bowls which are lettuce-based and on the healthy side. You make your way to the counter and then place your order. When your order is ready, your name is called out and a server locates you and brings you your order I've never had anything that didn't taste exceptionally good. The service has also been very good. It's packed, but it's definitely worth a wait!!!! If you're in Ann Arbor, we highly recommend you give Frita Batidos a try-we always make it in once or twice when we are in town.

Nice spot right in the middle of the college crowd. The vibe here is upbeat and lively, but finding a seat on weekends can be tough, the place stays packed. We tried the Chicken Frita burger, and it was excellent and full of that Cuban-inspired twist. The Coconut Batido was easily the star of the meal, creamy and refreshing -- definitely a must-try. The Chocolate Batido was good too. The only letdown was the Cilantro Fries -- they came out soggy and didn't really hit the mark. Service was good, you will have to wait for your order sometimes but friendly despite the crowd, and the space has a fun tropical feel with the bar area setup. Overall, it's a cool hangout if you're in Ann Arbor and want something unique.

We were in Ann Arbor for a wedding and this place was recommended to me by one of my coworkers who previously lived in the area for ~10 years and it did not disappoint! We went here for lunch on a Saturday and the service was efficient. You order at a counter, take a number and grab a seat indoors or outdoors. We sat outside. We ordered the fish frita with cheese, beef frita, garlic fries and the passion fruit batido. The portions were quite large for the price and everything was so tasty! The fries were a bit oily by the end but the flavor was so good and the aioli that it comes with was very delicious as well. Don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.

Stellar burger with fries on top! Get it loco. The Cuban sandwich is also delicious and worth getting. Be sure to try the coconut batido - I like adding lime to mine. Plenty of seating inside, but it can get busy quick! Online ordering system is easy to navigate and makes for convenient takeout.

Frita Batidos is the classic Cuban burger spot that you HAVE to visit at least once if you live on campus. This is your classic late-night spot that sells fishbowls, burgers, and other great menu items. Their Batidos are all delicious and sweet. The fishbowls are huge, but if you're not into tart drinks, they might not be for you. You HAVE to get their garlic cilantro fries! Their plantain chips are good too. Don't forget about the rice bowls!!! I only recently discovered them and they're one of my favorite things to order. The pulled pork is super savory and there's a slight sweet taste that matches well with the seasoned rice. For fritas, I always get chorizo and make it loco. It's a little pricey, but the toppings are worth it. I used to get beef, but when they're really busy, sometimes the meat comes out practically raw. For that, I'm taking off one star. PLEASE Be careful when ordering beef. Their black bean burger is good too. Very rare con, but the seasonal items today were kinda flops. The Mexican city corn was just corn from a can that was mixed with seasoning. It came out hot, but it was average. The cubano was not great. The coffee was sour and the sugar at the bottom didn't melt, so it didn't help with the flavor. While other seasonal menu items have been good, today's was not worth. Overall, Frita Batidos is consistent with their classics. Definitely worth going with friends! But be careful ordering certain items during rush hour.

WOW! I was shook when my friend brought me here. Literally so good. We got it Loco style (I think that's what it's called) with fries on the side. The flavors were melting all over my tongue Must try when you visit Ann Arbor! It definitely gives the vibe you're on a beach or resort having lunch even when it's -10 degrees outside!

Phenomenal Cuban burger, first I've had and honestly don't think it could be beat. The Frita Mojito fishbowl was enough to grease the wheels of 3. The menu has so much to offer. Frita's was very busy but the turnaround of the food and drinks to table was impressive. Great environment with positive vibes.

Maybe this is not my jam. The reviews were great so had to try it. i had the chorizo with slaw. it may have been the messiest thing i have ever eaten. i think i used 200 napkins. the texture was just weird. i give it like a 6 out of 10. Also had a margarita. It was meh. $50 meal for 2 people. Didn't even have any sides. way too expensive in my opinion. The staff was very nice. The seating was picnic table style. Not really my thing but it was pretty busy in there so maybe it's just me.

Frita Batidos has the best burgers! This Cuban-inspired burger & shake joint serves delicious Fritas, burgers on soft egg buns, and topped with fries! They have black bean burgers for vegetarians, fish for pescatarians, and more. Their milkshakes are delicious and pair so well with the fritas! This is a great casual hangout spot, and you'll notice that it gets even busier at night time! The staff are so friendly and have great energy. My husband and I are addicted!

So happy tonight have found this place! Cutest place ever, fast as well and amazingly delicious! Staff was very friendly, we told him this was our first time and if he had any recommendations. We tried the chorizo, fish and chicken burgers, Garlic cilantro fries, Cuban sandwiche and a passion fruit batito. Everything was amazing! So delicious and flavorful. I added slaw to my fish sandwich and it was perfect! Will definitely come back and would definitely recommend! 10/10

Coming with a larger party, how does reservation work (out of towner here with kids who get cranky if waiting too long🤣)?

It's cafeteria style seating, so first you order at the counter and then you find a seat at the long tables and they bring your food out to you when it's ready. To my knowledge they don't do reservations.

Can you order a plain batido with only the crushed ice and vanilla bean ice cream (for my kids)?

    Certainly!

I stopped in with a group on a weeknight recently, and even on a cold December night, we found that there was a small crowd inside, with groups of all sizes grabbing drinks and catching up. The inside of the establishment is a mix of super high ceilings and surpisingly limited seats. There are a fair amount of tables and bar seating as well, but just less than you'd expect by looking at it from the outside! There are a ton of TVs inside, so I could imagine this would be a good place to watch sports -- while we were there, they were playing a Lord of the Rings movie and we heard from the bartender that they often have movies of such high caliber playing! Now onto the important part - the cocktails! We tried a couple of cocktails from their menu and found that though they tasted good, they felt somewhat lacking in alcohol... either the bartender did an amazing job with the mix, or they were light pours. I will say I got an old fashioned after that, and the old fashioned was excellent! Handmade, not pre-mixed, and both the flavor and presentation were excellent. Overall, I'd say we had a pretty solid experience - I'll be back to try out some more drinks for sure (both cocktails and coffee!)

The Black Pearl Roll unfortunately, is not worth the pricing. $25 for a roll with mostly cucumber. It's also not very consistent in sizing. Once it was so large I could barely fit it in my mouth and the other times very small. If you plan to charge $25 for a Sushi Roll it should contain a good amount of Sushi. I can go across the street and get amazing Tuna Tartare for under $15 with plenty of Tuna.

We stumbled across this pub on our way to the ice cream place, and we decided to give it a try!…read moreOverall, we were impressed-- super cozy indoor/outdoor space, fast service, and an amazing list of draft beer options! They don't serve any food though, so might not be a good choice if you're hungry. - Dogfish Head Grateful Dead IPA: 10000/10 (an amazing, refreshing IPA that isn't too strong! Medium-bodied, pretty fruit-forward with notes of pineapple and mango. Honestly one of the best IPAs I've had in a whileee) - Kasteel Wit: 9/10 (light-body wheat beer that's also super refreshing and flavorful!) - Hacker Pschor Oktoberfest: 10/10 (great marzen) - Rhineheist Cheetah lager: 8/10 (decent lager) - Guinness: 6/10 (the Guinness was wayyyyy too watery!!!) - Ferndale Project Apple Pie: 9/10 (actually tastes like apple pie and vanilla! It's def on the sweeter side though, so you might not like it if you're not into sweet beer) Overall, I definitely want to come back and sit outside when the weather is nicer!

However, I made a grave mistake of ordering on the QR code/Toast rather than at the bar. I say grave because fellow bourbon whisky enthusiasts will cringe -- I was pretty stoked to see that they had Basil Hayden Toasted. So, I ordered it but also selected "add water" with the anticipation that it would be like a dropper of water. Nope, they made a cocktail out of my 2oz pour of Basil Hayden. Whiskey water. At that point, it could've been Makers Mark or Jack and I wouldn't have known the difference. User error though so I did make sure I still tipped accordingly and NOW I know. I'll be back though.
