The Habitat is the cozy bar inside of Weber's Restaurant formal dining room that's inside the Weber's Boutique Hotel. (Whew! That was a mouthful!) The most important thing to know is that everything Webers is awesome, fantastic, top-drawer, and always dependable. What I like about The Habitat is its relaxed atmosphere versus the quieter dining experience of Weber's Restaurant, its stage for live evening performances, its signature drink menu (check out the Aviation), and its sophisticated energy. You can order most (maybe all) the same food that's on the Weber's Restaurant menu. The table service at The Habitat is equally as good as the staff at Weber's Restaurant, so don't feel like you're missing out. This little bar is located inside the Weber's Hotel. We did arrive just before closing, but they were able to serve us for last call. Their hours were a bit confusing and we wish they stayed open later. This would be nice to finish out the evening and just relax, sit back and enjoy. We did not try the food here only the wine, which tasted great. The only thing we would change in their hours for the hotel guests. We would return again. read more

They have a great happy hour from 4-6 with discounted drinks and appetizers, including a dinner-sized London broil with spinach and mashed potatoes, although you might need to fight for a spot at the bar. If you don't see the cocktail you're looking for on the menu, friendly bartender Yvette can probably whip it up. The dinner menu is similar to that of the adjacent Weber's restaurant, but the prices are a few bucks cheaper and the vibe is more casual. Habitat is our weekend go-to date night in the A2 area. It's a bit further for us coming from Ypsi but worth it to see consistently great live jazz from Rob Crozier and his rotating band members and vocalists. All master musicians that add the perfect tone to a cozy space. Drinks are great and the food is high quality at great prices. Don't change a thing! We particularly love the first Friday of every month wheb they bring in a guest vocalist. The service, the drinks, and the food are all amazing. We love the atmosphere, as well. The Habitat has been a local favorite for decades. Part of the Webers Hotel and Restaurant venture on the west side. They seriously have one of the best Happy Hour menus. I personally recommend the London Broil. The crab cakes. I also enjoy the bread basket with salmon pate. The other reason I love the Habitat is.... Yvette. She is by far the best bartender. She not only remembers us each time but she knows that I arrive late and will keep a tea held back at the bar or sent up to the room. I arrived Thursday night and got to my room at 1 am to find a lovely note and iced tea in my refrigerator. Last night I didn't get finished with my meeting and back to the hotel until after 10. The kitchen was closed, but Yvette once again did what she does best. Not only had my tea but she put together some crackers/salmon pate. Yvette is not alone. The wait staff is just as committed and friendly. It has changed however since Covid and on that issue, I am torn. The live music has definitely changed. In fact the music Friday night was mediocre. I miss the music venues of the pre covid days. However, I don't miss the packed house. I also miss the later night hours. Management should really consider staying open until midnight on Friday and Saturday night. My fear, having been in the hotel industry for more than 30 years and managed some of the finest hotels all over the world is STAYING RELEVANT. I see caution signs and I hope they are paying attention. For an example last night I sat next to a African American woman at the bar. She mentioned that she had not been there post covid but she was very disappointed. It is not the place it was pre covid. And thats okay. She missed the music and the whole atmosphere had changed. And she is 100% correct. She is not the first person I have heard this from. We invited friends from town to join us for dinner during our last couple stays. And elderly local couple who would typically jump at the chance. Instead they have recommended a local steak house just about half a mile away. It also has a long history here in Ann Arbor. Which is my point about keeping things new and fresh. Webers has a focus on fine wines, however, people today are drinking less wine. In fact the wine industry is down 20 to 30 percent. Another point, no Texas wines. Texas Vineyards are producing some serious stuff and California has taken notice. Numerous California wineries have started vineyards in Texas. Adega Vinho, Kilasi Cellars, Ferris & Fletch are just three family vineyards that I recently tried and I was very impressed. Again, staying fresh. Offering something new and something that the other area hotels are not doing. I recently attended an event at a boutique hotel and had a representative from one of the Vineyards pour during dinner at the hotel restaurant. Garrison Brothers Distillery has their products on the shelves of several bars including several hotel bars. I was shocked that the Sheraton in Ann Arbor even had Garrison Brothers on the shelf and it was priced higher than Johnny Walker or Makers Mark. And I ordered it. You have GOT TO STAY RELEVANT. That begins and ends with your entertainment. Keeping it the best local entertainment that you can. Friday, was not your best. If it was, I have serious concerns for the future of the business. Just not the caliber of entertainment I have experienced in the past. Again, I would argue that you won't get better steaks and seafood than Webers and especiallyat their price point. But competition is fearless and Ann Arbor is no exception. My parents and grandparents dined here. They absolutely loved Webers. There is a term in the industry called FLAT PALETTE. It is when you don't get out and taste what other wine makers/executive chefs are doing. Your palette becomes flat. As my generation or baby boomers age, what are you doing to bring in your new loyal followers? Who are you targeting? Perhaps that is who is missing at the head of the ship. Great department leaders but no captain? The hotel has done much better at staying fresh with the USB mirrors, and spa like showers, and a wonderful loyalty program. Again, you must always walk the property and keep up with your competitors. A suggestion, the hotel needs to remove the tacky vending machines and add a fresh market pantry. I suggest they walk the Sheraton Ann Arbor or the even the Airport Marriott Detroit. The space where the business center is can easily be converted into a fresh market pantry and also be a revenue stream with much better options. It is stars like Yvette, John (Night Audit), and the hotel director that are the face of the business. They are who keep loyal consumers returning. Rather you are visiting the Habitat, Webers Restaurant, or the hotel, you won't be disappointed. And I give the property 5 STARS because they deserve it. read more

So my fiance and I were staying at the Weber's boutique hotel so we decided to come down and see the jazz band over a few drinks. We had already had dinner before since the band didn't start until 9 pm. So, we initially ordered a dirty Shirley with Tito's, an aviation, chocolate cake, shrimp cocktail, and oysters. Everything was so good that we ordered one more shrimp cocktail and an espresso martini. The jazz band was so awesome and the live music was such a vibe. I love Weber's! This small boutique hotel is the perfect couples get away. You check in and can be completely entertained until you check out. The bar (Habitat) is seductively lit. The drinks are strong and Happy hour is more than Happy! It's fantastic. They have live bands that play in the evening! Now let's get into this food! Exquisite is being humble. The quality far exceeds the price. We ordered nachos to share. Perfection. I ordered the seafood linguine for dinner. It was full of seafood (shrimp, scallops and salmon) it also packed tons of veggies! The contrast of the textures were orgasmic! The sauce was not too rich to over power the fresh seafood. read more
