This Irish bar, located across from the law quad, has been around a good half century and for good reason. Between it's two floors, two large patios, and many rooms, it can host a ton of people. On my fall visits the only place to hang is outside. The back/enclosed-but-open patio is spacious, with approximately 10 large picnic tables that can easily hold a dozen people each. Some are covered by the balcony-patio on the second floor some are in the open space of the main courtyard, so be prepared to be sunburned if it's daytime! On this Saturday afternoon, post football game, it was packed, essentially standing room only but we managed to snag one picnic table to squeeze our group into. Food is standard bar-fare and good but plan on a solid 30 minute wait after ordering (not bad for a hundred+ patrons scattered throughout). Drink prices are reasonable with pitchers ruling the day. Pro Tips: There are lots of parking meters all around. Despite this packed day on campus, at 4:30p there were still several meters within a block so do a "drive-by" before giving up and heading to a parking garage. Also, everyone uses the couple of bathrooms on the main floor so there's often a short line but(!) there are two bathrooms up the narrow staircase on the second level that are rarely booked. read more

Looks like the cool place to be if you're a Michigan student. This spot is right by the Law School and I came here right after school-wide commencement. Sangria was bomb. Highly recommend! Food was pretty good too. I ordered a meatball sandwich and it was 10/10 delicious. Sandwich was small and didn't come with any sides (thought it would with the price!) Felt more like a snack than a meal. Their outdoor seating area is cool and you can wait on their covered patio or in the sun while you wait for food. I think there's some indoor seating, but it seems a bit limited. Overall very satisfied with the experience and will try to hit up when I'm in town again. read more

Being rushed while ordering from an overwhelming menu written in chalk across three walls and then waiting to hear your name screamed across an old, crinkly speaker: 1/10. The set up is not my favorite, and the service could be improved. We have been several times because it's considered an Ann Arbor staple, but half the time we come we wonder why. Shaded seats on the back patio are coveted, especially since they keep the far back portion (full shade) closed until there are enough people sitting in the sun. None of it makes sense. A classic Ann Arbor spot. This place when I went to college was one of the best bars to go to for a chill evening or to daydrink. The sangria is what they're known for. I came with a friend during the daytime. There was a new drink - called the constant buzz so decided to order that and try it out. The drink was definitely on the sweeter side but with a hint of strawberry. It was huge though so definitely recommend sharing. I really liked that they were super nice about the drinks because the first constant buzz we ordered a wasp flew into the drink and we we barely two cups into the drink. The kitchen was super nice and made us a new one so we can enjoy the full portion. Classic spot and fun! read more

Was in the area and wanted to go somewhere authentic and locally owned. We were blown away by the time walls which were filled with Olympic information and other random fun bits of knowledge. There are a few different places inside the restaurant to enjoy your meal at as well. The menu is large and you will see it written all over the restaurant in colorful writing to take in. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan sandwich with Mac and Cheese Bites as an appetizer, and my taste buds took a journey that carried me through the day. The service was extremely personable and they took time to tell us about their origins and what else there is to do in the city. This place is great. The backyard seating feels very European, the food is good, but you certainly for the drinks. The sangria and Constant Buzz are absolutely delicious and are what they are known for. Some may dislike that Dom's doesn't have a website and no real social media presence. Sometimes, they're closed, and you'd only know by walking by. I think that's all part of their charm. Dom's is an AA staple, and is one of the few that seems to always be on top of their game! Only thing is they can improve their ordering system. Doms is THE place to be-- delicious sangria and beautiful patio space. However, since my own college days, they seemed to be a lot more lax with the IDs. I watched a teenager show her flimsy fake ID from Hawaii (LOL) to the bouncer who stared at it and let her go in. More funny than anything. The bouncer heard me laughing and said "she's the one breaking the law, not me". Ok dude! Been here a ton of times, first review. Get the sangria. If you find fault with it, get over it and try to enjoy yourself, because it's good enough and you'll be drunk before you know it. Food is not great. A lot of it is straight from frozen and a little doctored up. My favorite selections are the bowl of olives, bruschetta, and some kind of caprese thing, which seem like fresh menu selections. Anything else and you may be rolling the dice on quality and you'll definitely pay too much. Make sure you leave before 10pm or risk being deafened by the terrifying sirens they deploy to drive everyone out. You've been warned. That said, there's a reason this place is usually packed. It's a fun place to be with friends and get lit, and that's why it earns 4 stars. read more

I frequent Dominick's in the spring/summer/fall (well, when they're open, that is) and you can't beat the atmosphere on the back patio. You know that spring is finally here when Dom's opens up for the season and it's finally warm enough to sit outside and enjoy some sangria with friends. However, I can't overlook the negatives. The sangria, although strong, is expensive. A half gallon is $32, and probably enough for 4 people to have 2 glasses each. As a college student, my friends and I usually drink a lot more than 2 glasses each so I leave feeling like I spent too much money. But the worst thing by far was last summer, I came here with some of my family as a fun outing after dinner. We ordered pitchers and sat down only to realize that they closed in 30 minutes. We couldn't forget it either, because they were announcing over the loudspeaker every 10 minutes that they were closing soon. Waitstaff kept coming over to ask if they could clear our glasses and, I kid you not, at 10:00pm on the dot they started playing loud siren noises over the speakers. I was embarrassed that I had brought my parents, aunt, uncle, and cousins to what I thought was a classier place than this. We chugged the rest of our sangria and left, and could STILL hear the siren noises 2 blocks away. Imagine living next door to that place!! I don't know if this happens frequently because I've never been there til close before, but dang! How rude. I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of 1 because their sangria is good and so is the constant buzz (another drink you can get a pitcher of). There's also nothing like the atmosphere of this place Ann Arbor. The memories with my friends on the patio are something I'm going to look back on fondly someday. Dom's is a classic hang out spot in Ann Arbor during the summer. This outdoor beer garden has ample seating outside next to plants and a water fountain as well as covered outdoor seating on its first and second floor. The biggest draw here are definitely the drinks - Constant Buzz and sangria. The Constant Buzz is an alcoholic smoothie. The sangria is super strong and juicy. You can get a gallon to share with friends or just get a pint/half pint for yourself. They also have food here - sandwiches, burgers, tenders, fries, etc. Dom's also takes free reservations! I made one here for an event I hosted a few weeks ago for a large party. When I arrived, there was clear signage and weighted party hats reserving our seats. I also forgot to check the weather that day and it had unfortunately started to rain just as I arrived. The owner graciously had everything set up under the covered outdoor patio so we could still have our event. Great hang out, would defs recommend Dom's! read more

Dom's is a great spot close the law quad and the Ford school. There's plenty of seating outside, upstairs, or on the back patio. They check IDs at the door before you go in and order. Once you're in, you order at the window. They have pasta, appetizers, and other munchies if you want. I almost always order either the sangria or constant buzz. Both are good. If you order one of the larger mason jars, they'll give you smaller jars to pour into/split. They'll announce over the PA system when your food is ready. Dom's closes for the winter months, but then reopens the Monday after spring break. I always love stopping here and getting a drink with friends! read more

It's on campus in Ann Arbor. You can roll the dice with street parking, but honestly after a constant buzz, I wouldn't recommend driving. My order: - Chips and guac. They are nacho chips. Guac is solid. Not spicey. - Chicken Parmesan sandwich: Doesnt come with any sides. I wish the chicken was breaded, but it was homemade and very good. - Diet coke: Very sad. Wanted to drink. Service was very good! Of course, this was the middle of the day. This place is sometimes crawling with students and other events, and I was one of the only people there. Of course I'll be back. This is one of my favorite watering holes. The pizza is always excellent, and it's a great casual place to hang out with friends. (Make sure you're all 21, sometimes they card at the door) Dont expect anything fancy, this is a classic and casual Ann Arbor establishment. There's no AC so it got a little toasty. We used to go here a lot when I was in law school, but that was a long time ago so I will review it the way it is now. Located directly across a side street from the nice looking law quad. Parking is a few street meters and difficult. It is styled to look like a Villa, covered front porch table area, inside some seating room but mostly a main ordering of booze and food area and a sometimes open cash bar area. Large area out back, and upstairs some more rooms that are open at times. A variety of pub type food, leaning towards Italy inspired, small craft brew selection, and mainly the mainstay drinks of sangria and frozen drinks. Decent prices, designed for mostly groups. Good mix of undergrads who are old enough, professional/grad students, and old timers. Plan to be here a while sipping alcohol and eating slowly, in a group. read more

Come for the patio, stay for the strawberry alcohol smoothie goodness. I recommend getting there earlier in the evening and snagging a table on the back patio. Get a pitcher of the signature smoothie alcohol drink (I don't remember what it's called, but you'll know!). You have to order at the bar before you sit down and pick up your food when it's ready, but it adds a nice casual ambiance to the place. We ordered the pizza and it was good - not the best I've ever had but pretty good. Sangria was also nice, and I'm impressed by their tap list. 4 stars, because it's really their patio and their location that make them shine. Great atmosphere, good drinks, and pretty reasonable prices. This place is deceptive from the outside. It looks smaller than it is, but it has a large outside porch in the back with huge tables for big groups to enjoy. It also has a great location, right near the law quad and the business building on campus. Now I can't really speak to the food because I haven't had much of it other than some pizza, but the sangria and their constant buzz are both really good. I am not sure what is in the constant buzz, but it achieves its purpose. It is strong, flavorful and a large portion for the prize you are paying. I've been enjoying this place since Autumn of 1961, when the Italian Sub was 75 cents, and Dominick His Own Self was running the place. His son is the current maitre'd and the food and drinks are just as good (or funky, truth to tell) as they were in the olden times. Mason jars for booze? Of course! Best to go between 2 and 5 pm to avoid long lines and long waits for your food to be prepared. And by all means, add a tip when the write-up person takes your order. And order the sangria with 'light on the ice'. And if you're wearing a tie...take it off and relax and enjoy the unique experience! read more

This is one of those rare times where this place does have a few detractors, but the place itself is just so wonderful that I can't give it less than five stars. Beware that they basically open for the season whenever they deem it to be warm enough, and close whenever they feel like it's getting too cold. Dominick's is downright magical on a beautiful summer day. Really any of the spaces are great- the front deck, upstairs balcony, or backyard. If you and at least one other person agree on it, order the constant buzz. It only comes in a big ass jar, but it's delicious. If you're on your own ordering-wise, get the sangria. It's delicious and comes in many different sizes. The food at Dominick's is fine. It's really overpriced for what it is, but it gets the job done. Dominicks, I have been going here for years and I love this place But its not for everyone. There seems to be alot of disinformation on this site so let me clear up some facts. ---yes dominicks is seasonal they open the first week of March and close the last home football game. ( usually sometime in November .) --Dominicks is a little pricey but what would you expect from an ann arbor resterant. ( I don't know if you noticed but ann arbor is a pricey town.) Alot cheaper than zingermanns and other resterants though. --There is no waitstaff. Its a self serve place. and sometimes you have to wait in line. personaly I don't mind. The most I've ever waited on a busy day was 15 minutes. --Alot of people say the food here is gross. Maybe they had the wrong thing or something was made differently then they expected but they have hands down the best subs in town. The best pizza ( entirley made from scratch ) quesadillas and tomatoe brushetta are also good along with the ravioli pastas and salads. --yes, Dominicks can get very noisey but its all part of the experience. There is a P.A. system in the place calling out orders and when its packed its noisey . does nt bother me. --Dominicks does have a siren they blast at 10 p.m. because thats when they close. Its the most effective way to get drunk people out of there. In all honesty if you hear the siren you should have been gone 10 minutes ago. The joys of drinking outside... So this place is a really nice place to go to on a hot day. When the sun is out, the Sangria will start flowing. They really have 2 kinds of Sangria, the good stuff (pricy) or the bad stuff (cheap). I would recommend the good stuff, but have a friend buy a gallon jug of it. This way you get the best of both worlds, Good Sangria at the cheap price (free). The pleasant surprise is the workers here. They all look like some kind of murderers, this adds that charm to the place. Maybe not if your a lady. Do not go here when its raining. Rainy days are no fun here. read more
