Cupcake was very dry and tasteless. Parking is difficult to find. They have a huge variety of sweets for sale. The selection of ice cream flavors is extensive. read more

Still cute. Service is always friendly. But the ice cream is not special anymore. Rays is not a good brand. One bite and the flavor disappears. What happens to Alinosi's ice cream? Did the family stop making it? read more

This sweet spot delivers reliable quality and top-notch service. From premium chocolates to a variety of confections, it offers more than meets the eye beyond its ice cream shop appearance. They also cater, create custom cakes, and take special dessert orders - services I haven't tried yet, but look forward to exploring. read more

Service is seriously lacking. Staff is not knowledgeable and really don't care about the customer or quality of what they're serving. Seems they're just riding on the Alinosi name these days. We see you! read more

It's an overpriced ice cream place that claims to be a "bar". I'm not really sure why it's 'hyped' up on Yelp. There's the standard ice cream toppings and that's nothing extraordinary. I got a rootbeer float that could have used WAY more ice cream than the small glob they let slip halfway into the glass. I was also given a spoon with an edge that cut my lip because it had clearly been dropped in a blender and turned on. I wouldn't come here again. We stopped only for my kiddos. And I did take photos, but my kids are in them, so I'm going to leave those out. They serve Guernsey ice cream just like everyone else. read more

You have to call your order ahead before you can pick up the order. They have the door locked and will bring out the order to you. We ordered a large strawberry milkshake with no whip cream. The large milkshake is a 20 ounce cup. I also ordered a mint chip small milkshake, which is a 16 ounce less whipped cream. We also ordered a hot caramel sundae with vanilla ice cream and whip cream. I also ordered a double raspberry Italian ice in a cup. Since everything has to go the ice cream's are better in cups, than melting in a cone. The strawberry was a winner as was the mint chip milkshake. The caramel sundae was also tasty for mom. My Italian ice was different, not what I was expecting, but not bad. read more

Located in the Greater Mack corridor of Grosse Pointe Woods, we found Chocolate Bar Cafe served some of the BEST Michigan-based ice cream and sundaes that we've ever had! This cafe is one of the original Louis Alinosi ice cream parlors having begun over 100 years ago. Alinosi's Spumoni is a well-known local favorite. I ordered a scoop and was served a VERY generous portion of goodness. So flavorful were the chocolate selections that my companion nearly asked for a second sundae! Seating is located within, and there are tables outside along Mack Ave. The young servers were friendly, patient and give you free tastes to help with deciding your flavor of the day. Prices are reasonable. Check out the juke box too! read more

I have been coming here for years! Now I bring my kids here. I must mention a update so your aware as of my most recent time in here they have new restrictions up. When you walk up there is a sign on the door saying you need to call in your order and they will bring it to the door for you. They have the menu up on the window. But this just isn't the same as being able to go in there and smell the fresh chocolate and candy fill the air. They have over 20 flavors of ice cream and dairy free ice. My favorite is their originals. They have the old school soda fountain and original bar stools and decorations from the 50s and yes this is the one from Detroit originally. If you ask for a water they will give it to you in the original paper cups and chrome holder. I hope the inside opens back up soon. Nothing beats playing the jukebox eating ice cream!!! read more

This place is a sweet tooth heaven. My friend and I had the opportunity to pay this place a visit and we were not disappointed. They offer everything from sundae's, shakes, pastries, chocolates, coffee/latte's, and so much more. I had the s'mores latte with a chocolate croissant and my friend got a Boston cooler (ice cream mixed with vernors ginger ale). Everything was delicious. The pricing was a little high, but not too bad. Our service was great and quick and very accommodating to any changes we made in our order. There's not much space to sit inside so I would recommend taking it to go if going with a large crowd. read more

Updated sign says they are now serving Guernsey Ice cream, don't know if Alinosi is totally out or not?!? Always love this place! read more

This is a great spot. They have cupcakes, ice cream, candies, etc. I got a hot fudge sundae, regular size, and it was huge. They have tons of specialty sundaes too. My daughter had a cupcake and they had lots of unique choices. The place is clean and staff friendly. The decor is old school ice cream parlor with an updated twist. We will definitely be back. read more

If you need a sheet cake for a special occasion order it from the Chocolate Bar Cafe. Their frosting is delicious ... and I normally scrape the frosting off the cake and push it aside. I have ordered cakes from them for my kid's high school graduation parties. Everyone always raves about the cakes!! They are delicious. A friend of mine recently told me I need to go there to get a pistachio cupcake. She said they are practically to die for! I will be trying it soon, I don't doubt her at all. read more

Definitely try their banana pudding and oreo pudding. House made, whipped to perfection, and less calories then youd think. You can also get a fine selection of chocolates, candies, and milkshakes. read more

The desserts are good but the staff is so inattentive. This is my fourth time going here and every time I've left uncomfortable with the total lack of customer service. Since I'm finally leaving a review it's safe to say I'm not going back. read more

They made a really cute cake and smash cake for us. I'm picky about frosting, and they have the good frosting. The cake was good and not at all dry. We will get all our birthday cakes there from now on! read more

Love this quaint dessert destination. Highly recommend trying the "bumpy cake" cupcakes

I love Chocolate Bar Cafe! Stepping inside is like stepping back in time to a simpler time. This past month we had two big occasions to celebrate my babies Confirmation and my eldest daughter's 16th birthday. I love their cake and their frosting. Thank you Chocolate Bar Cafe for being a big part of our family celebrations much like Hagelstein's of Royal Oak was to my family growing up on the west side. Another plus is that they carry Alinosi fine chocolates without which no Christmas stocking or Easter basket would be complete. I you! read more

I love the cherry chip cupcakes!! Always effortless to call and order ahead, as well as easy pickup.

This place is just amazing. The girls are always really nice and super helpful. Every time I visit Michigan (GP area) I make sure to at least make 1 trip to the Chocolate Bar, even if I have to walk! The location is great and the shop is always clean. My favorite is the banana split with chocolate, strawberry and cookies and cream ice cream! I'll skip the pineapple sauce though.. read more

This place is a memorable place and holds so many memories. Besides the obvious great ice cream their cupcakes are ridiculously delicious!

Fantastic old school ice cream shop. Everything there is delicious and sweet. Service is fantastic. A must stop shop on Mack

When I suggest Alinois's after dinner my family thought I was crazy to want Ice cream when the temperature outside was below freezing. It really didn't take much persuading... We drove to the Chocolate Bar Cafe and to our surprise when we arrived they were busy. Fortunately we did secure a seat to enjoy of Ice Cream treat! BEST Ever! During the warmer weather this is one of my favorites for a evening treat especially on the motorcycle. read more

The Chocolate Bar cafe catered my wedding cake o 5/25/13 and let me tell you Lisa was awesome! I had a faux cake so only the top layer was real and we had a sheet cake in the back. It was beautiful and so many of my guests told me how delicious the air was. Some told me that is was the best they ever had The cake was affordable and delicious-- so you can't go wrong with that. My sister is getting married on 12/23/17 and I am recommending this bakery for her dream day. read more

My family has been with the Chocolate Bar Café since the owner baked cakes out of her home. Over 20 years. They have NEVER disappointed. We don't get cakes or cupcakes from anywhere else. Quite literally any request you have, the can fulfill it. The ice cream here is phenomenal too! And I love the 1950s retro feel of the place. A longtime favorite that is near and dear to many hearts. read more

In Love with the service from this facility, The staff has wonderful Attitudes

This is such a cute place to bring the family after dinner. It has an old setting which makes the place fun to sit in for some goodies. After dinner Friday we stopped in for some delicious cupcakes. They have ice-cream, cakes, candy, cupcakes and other treats. We came for the cupcakes!!! They offer different varieties to pick from and they usually have one or two of each unless it's the daily special. The have plenty. My daughter and I fought for the carrot cake; usually my favorite. I talked her into the cherry one with the cherry on top. They were delicious as usual. I like their cupcakes because they are not overly sweet; they are just right. They are reasonably priced and the customer service is always great!!! If you are looking for some after dinner treats or just some sweets this is the place. They also make cakes for different occasions. The kids will love it!! read more

Good food, owner is nice, but his wife is always crabby. I can't get on board with that.

Featuring Detrioits Finest Alinosi's ice cream! Eclectic and Original. This sweet shop is definitely one to good to miss. You know its great, even when its 20 degrees outside they are slammed! read more

Really 2,5, but the staff was very nice, so earned them an up star. I had the cupcake of the day: pumpkin. Hubby had hot fudge cream puff. Now, my cupcake was moist and very good. Unfortunately, the frosting tasted like lard. Very oily. I removed it. The hot fudge cream puff was neither hot, nor fudge. The topping was actually milk chocolate, and it was just above room temperature,- not hot. The cream puff was just OK. Cute place, but doubt I'll be back. Very nice girls working there, though. Hate to say it, but hubby said we should have gone across the street to Big Boys for their Hot Fudge Cake. read more

Very diverse and cute cafe. With juke box and cute tables, they have icecream, sundays, icee, cupcakes, chocolate, cakes, custom cakes (they are fun and amazing- saw one for a 7year old with purse, lipstick, fun icing, was a great cake!) Lots of kids in and out with their parents. I had a great time here. read more

My husbands company has cupcakes brought in from here. He loved them so much that he took us there. I have to say I see why they do so well. There cupcakes are absolutely delicious! I love the chocolate peanut butter and the banana cupcake with peanut butter. There lemon cupcake with lemon on top is also amazing. I don't think they have a bad cupcake. Coffee is great there as is the ice cream. Thank God I don't live closer! read more

When you enter it is like stepping back in time to a real soda fountain. Perfect ice cream parlor with a pretty great history. Most of the staff are local high schoolers. They must treat their employees well because everyone is always very polite and appear happy to be there. They make their own ice cream and have classic items along with some unique combinations as well. Best cream puff ever! Alinosi also makes fine chocolates. Awesome spumoni. The current owner is a baker and she makes great cakes and cupcakes. They have something like 30 different flavors. I know there are a lot of specialty cupcake places nowadays, but this place has very good cupcakes for a fair price. Check out their cupcake of the day. read more
