Blake's is the Disneyland of cider mills. I appreciate all that Blake's has to offer throughout the year but its events are overpriced. I attended this year's Sunflower Festival and could not believe a ticket just to get in was $14 and did not include sunflowers! The $14 fee is to walk through several rows of vendors selling things you get to see for free at plenty of local farmers' markets and fall festivals. You need to pay extra to pick sunflowers. I didn't buy it but I think the slushie with whipped cream topped with a donut was around $12, which is absolutely nuts. None of the drinks here are that large. Some years ago I went to the haunted house. I remember that the haunted house didn't take too long to walk through. It's always fun to go to pretty much any cider mill in the state in the fall, Blake's is no exception. My point is that there are many other more authentic less commercialized cider mills in the area that are worth visiting and where you get more bang for your buck. read more

I visited Blake's Orchard with my family in early September, and it was such a fun, wholesome day! The kids couldn't get enough of picking apples right off the trees, watching fresh cider being made, and exploring the cheerful sunflower garden. We even grabbed a homemade pie to take home, which was the perfect way to wrap up the afternoon. Of course, we couldn't resist having cider and donuts on-site. There's plenty of outdoor seating, so it was an ideal place to enjoy the sunshine and take in the farm views. Everything tasted amazing, including the crisp, juicy apples we brought home. What really surprised me were the beautiful vegetable patches near the orchards. You can pick your own produce straight from the field. Entry is just $1 per car for a bag, and the prices are super reasonable: $40 for a full bag of apples and $30 for veggies. Honestly, it felt like a steal for fresh, organic produce. I walked away with bags full of farm-fresh goodness for less than what I'd spend at the grocery store. The produce I bought were cauliflower, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and eggplants. We had such a great time that I'm already planning our next trip back next year! read more

Congrats to Blakes on all the years of servicing this community and becoming one of the nations biggest hard cider producers. Blakes has kept their roots in Apples but has massively expanded to agra-tourism with festivals and events throughout the year. They also grow much more than Apples and all can be found in their shops and prepared foods. As of recent, there are now liquors made with ingredients from Blakes, but I don't think the liquor is made there. Donuts are made fresh daily and apple pies are to die for! read more

The good part about eating here was the food. It was the Lavender Festival so they had a Lavender menu. I had a Lavender Chicken Sandwich and truffle fries. Both were excellent. The also had a Lavender Sangria drink that was light and refreshing for sure! We walked in and waited at the hostess bar. It wasn't crowded. They said a 30 minute wait. She was acting bored and rude. No offer of a seat at the bar which was not full. We asked if we could sit at the bar and her comment was "I don't care..whatever". Wow. We sat at the bar..which is not very big and not one person acknowledged us. We finally had to ask one person...who was filling a glass with ice literally right in front of us...if we could get some service. Almost an eye roll and he said "someone will around soon". Beyond personally disappointed in this venue, no one cared any one was there and rude on top of the lack of attentiveness. We actually told a few folks on our travels, that said they are always like that it was not you. That should speak volumes that you need a customer service refresh. Couple of however points same people say they give generously to the community and so they should as they are a mega massive money grab, their festivities must be gigantic as there is lots of field parking and if service is bad on a slow day, prayers for those coming on a crazy day. They are NOT dog friendly. They are good ciders which I will continue to sip, this summers key lime was a fail in my taste buds opinion with all others a good choice. They have the ciders on tap, that was nice to have bubbly ice cold on tap cider flights. Found a few flavors we don't have in our area and bought some 6 packs at a good price vs back home prices. We drove hundreds of miles and we love cider venues, distillery spots and wineries... this one holds the bottom spot and maybe I was just so excited it set up this fail, but rude can crush the apple. read more

So 9 of us met and were greeted by the best staff, the best donuts and cookies, the best apple cider, the tractor ride with Donnie ant a fun area for our 3-kids to play at. I would like to recognize Zoe at the activity area, Sarah,Tammy & Mellisa. Nathan making the delicious donuts & Nino making the Cider and there was another man working the donut & cider area!!! The staff helped make this the best day for all. Blakes is a wonderful place to visit. We make a trip about twice a year. While we enjoy doing the u-pick, it is quite pricy. They do some great events, we have attended the lavender fest, sunflower fest, dinosaurs event and the Halloween events, all have been nicely done. Being gluten free , I personally appreciate that they carry donuts from Gluten Free specialities that are seal in 2 packs. The tap has a huge assortment of hard ciders and wines, a great way to try them and see what you like before buying a 6 pack or case! read more

I've grown up always going to Blakes. This past time I went for the pickle fest and they ran out of pickles. This place is way too overpopulated. They do have great cider and awesome events but the place just isn't big enough for how many people visit. They need to add onto it and make new things because it hasn't changed in so long. I also went for fireworks this Fourth of July but it wasn't anything special. I feel like they need more areas for adults as well and more seating. read more

First experience here was the weekend of the strawberry festival. The place was extremely crowded and quiet honestly overwhelming. My husband and i both were disappointed in the lack of strawberry themed drinks/food available to munch on through the orchard. The only place we saw any strawberry themed foods were in the tasting room on their specials, and general themed items for purchase in their general store. The other spots you can buy food had all regular finger food items- pretzel bites, hot dogs, nachos etc. I also saw no non alcoholic beverages listed at the outside bar listed, which was a bummer for me. But hubby did get a beer. Funland looked and sounded interesting and we think that will be great once our little one arrives. We'd like to return here on a normal day not during an event and see if have a better time. read more

Had an absolute BLAST at Blake's Orchard & Cider Mill! Came here prior to the fall/pumpkin season and it was still packed, but there happened to be an event going on that weekend for beer so that was mainly why. My family was only interested in experiencing the farm and getting their famous apple cider donuts so thank God we didn't have to deal with the long line of people waiting to get into the event! We ended up eating at Blake's Tasting Room and enjoyed our experience there. My husband and I shared the nachos and my husband got a flight of their different flavored ciders. I think he tried four different ciders and really only liked one or two of them. The Apple Pie and I think Caramel apple were his faves. The nachos were a great choice to keep us satisfied until later. The farm was such a fun time for us all. We got to feed the pets they had in the barn. A mix of horses, llamas, rabbits, pigs etc. just be careful when feeding them, they will try to steal your entire cup of food! We also got to race around little tractors and my sister, her husband and his cousin ended up getting lost in the corn maze for an hour. Beware if you go into there that it may take a while to find your way out and you will get mud all over your shoes and clothing! My husband and I decided not to go into the corn maze (thank god!) and explored around the farm for a bit. It's quite large so there's a lot of walking involved. We also took the tractor ride that goes around the entire property and talks about Blake's history. They offer u-pick for a bunch of different fruits, vegetables and even plants! It was very interesting the vast majority of what they have to offer. We ended the day in their general store. Of course we had to get their famous apple cider donuts and fresh apple cider! Very delicious and the donuts were warm and soft. They have a bunch of other items for purchase like bakery items, jams, apparel, and even their cider! We came here during the strawberry festival, this place is very cute however it is pricey. The slushy in the picture was $12 which was the only thing we bought after that. If you have anxiety around big crowds i don't think it's a good idea to go there festivals however in the fall i believe it would be a better time! Super cute scenery for pictures. I always stop at at least one Cidermill. Food - the donuts and the cider were delicious. I had a frozen apple cider which I believe came in a 12 ounce cup for eight dollars. Had an awesome time! We took a family trip here on Saturday afternoon. I must say it was very busy, but we enjoyed the hayride and walking around eating the warm donuts and the cider is amazing! They have lots of activities for kids and some really nice cider beers and wine tasting in the back for the adults. It's really a great place to spend a few hours during the fall weather. That's when we enjoyed it listening from Georgia. It was really nice to visit this place in the cooler months. I recommend going earlier in the day because it appears to get even busier in the evenings. We decided to return next fall and spend a little bit more time and try different events. Amazing place to visit! We didn't realize there were multiple locations for Blake's all within a couple mile radius... do your research as they all offer something a little different! We went to the orchard and cider mill and it was great! There are lots of different buildings that all have something different. We managed to get our hands on some of the hard ciders and they did not disappoint. It was $8 for a glass which I thought was well worth it. There are many different places to sit from picnic tables to chairs and a white tent to enjoy as well. They have a restaurant but the wait was over 2 hours so we skipped this time around. We managed to get our hands on some of their hotdogs and they were very tasty! I highly recommend to anyone wanting to get away for the day with family. If I could give the actors/characters at the haunted attractions a 5 I would. They did amazing and were scary but kind. My two stars is because of the experience. We got there around 6:45pm. Purchased the haunted barn and hayride. I was advised to go to the hayride first. We did. Waited over an hour to get on the hayride. Headed over to the barn and thought the line didn't look too long. That was a complete mistake. We waited in line for 3 hours. There is no haunted house on the planet that is worth 3 hours. You don't even go to Disney and wait in line for 3 hours. It took way too long to get through this line. If my kids didn't have their hearts set on going into their first haunted house I would have left hours earlier. In addition, as you stand there for hours upon hours, people just continue to cut in line and get in with people that are apparently in their groups. So what looks like 100 people in front of you is actually 150. The line saving needs to end. I will never come back here. There needs to be timed tickets. I should not have spent 5 hours in lines tonight. Didn't even get a chance to get any food, drinks or enjoy spooky land which we paid for. Never again. read more

Out on a trip to Michigan to see great friends we stopped here for lunch and drinks. Very nice area walked around then went and had lunch in the tasting room. We ordered a 6flights cider tasting and all were good. BLUE RASPBERRY, SALTED CARAMEL, SIR LUSHINGTON, MANGOLADA and a few more, they were all delicious. The food was great the Salmon and Rice Pilaf great, The truffle fries were good a lil oily but still good, the classic burger was good along with the sweet potato fries and my buddy lady had the tostada salad.( looked waaaay better than el pollo loco) It was all delicious. I cannot remember our server name (sorry been drinking since I got off plane-bday week) but he took his time with our order told us about the ciders along with the property, Thank you. Rule number one, before making the crazy drive out to Blakes check the hours!! We did not and it hurt that we couldn't hit the orchard because they close at 5pm. Blake's has tons of options, soo many family friendly activities and building for things not food trucks or tents. This is key because weather was not pretty when we came out so having shelter was awesome. The cider was amazing (as always) the cinnamon sugar donuts are killer. 2/18/2023 Chili Cook Off 1-4pm - Complete waste of time and money, $27 for "all you can eat chili tasting" + Blakes pint glass + drink ticket for 1 pint of beer or cider. Blakes didn't put any thought into organizing the crowds, let alone managing the chaotic lines to make sure paying customers at least get a sample of chili. Staff nowhere to be found except at the check-in tent collecting money. This was just a big money grab. We arrived at 2 pm to find long lines at various tents or buildings where you're suppose to taste the chili and get your free one pint beer or cider. No signs indicating what was where. You can follow a paper map provided at check-in or just follow the lines which is what most people did, only to realize they were in the wrong line or it overlapped into another long line. Zero crowd control, and no direction by any Blakes staff. Very limited seating unless you don't mind sitting outside in the cold. There were people even using the covered trash cans as tables. This is not all you can eat as advertised. You would be lucky to get a free small ketchup cup size sample after waiting an 1 hr in line. To try multiple samples you would have had to bring your own tray to carry them with you to sample. Veterans of this event brought their own trays or muffin tins to hold the chili. For newcomers who don't know this, we were left trying to hold as many ketchup cup size samples as we could in our hands. This was definitely not worth $27/person. read more

Oh Blake's Blakes Blake's. There's really so much to say about this Orchard and Cider Mill. I've been coming here for years and it's still great. Now being all the way up in Armada, it is quite a hike for me, but always worth it. With as big as Blake's is, it seems like the Disneyland of Cider mills when you compare it to smaller Cider mills like Yates for example. The first thing you'll notice your is what seems like a just crowds of people everywhere. I'm sure when they first open for the day it's not so crowded but give it a little tons of people will show up. There's so many things you can do here from Apple, pumpkin and cherry picking. They're are small rides for kids, beer tasting rooms, shops with lots to buy like clothing, wine, cider and donuts and many many more. Blake's orchards has three locations in the Armada area. This is the largest location and they have a large variety of apples to pick in the fall as well as you pick fruits and veggies. We also enjoy picking the strawberries, cherries and raspberries in early summer. They tend to get very busy on the weekends so we usually go there on a weekday to avoid the large crowds. They have the best cider and donuts and many other treats and baked goods available. I'm lucky this location is very close to where I live so I stop there often. Blake's is also very good to locals offering free cider and donuts several times throughout the season as a thank you for Armada residents. read more

We got ripped off. We used our own bag and were told 62 apples is a full bag for $34.95. Upon check out, the employee says that it looks like 2 half bags for $50. I said, we called and spoke with an employee in the store and 62 apples is supposed to be $34.95. we have 62 apples. Then she weighed them at $1.99/pound at it was $41. I started counting the apples and took 12 apples out when she said leave those out and it will be $34.95 Sure glad I didn't pay $50. I am now sorry I paid $34.95 because I was over charged. It's a really nice experience as long as you get there early enough! The past few times we've been here, it's gotten significantly better as they continue to add more things and emphasis/add onto their other locations nearby. The taproom has great food and ciders to choose from, and they have some outdoor food places as well accompanied by their ciders of course. The things to do are sectioned off to make sure that the kids have their activities to do and the adults have their activities to do. Live music on most days really adds to the enjoyment of the day outside in the courtyard area. A recent addition, which is really nice, is that they have an outdoor area to buy donuts, cider and other items to take home, rather than packing inside the building where they make the cider and donuts and waiting in an incredibly long line. I had to go to a different lane with my receipt to ask for my doughnuts. The next guy shorts me half a dozen and I had to, for a third time, get back in line.
