Two bags filled to the brim with honeycrisp!
    Amanda L.

First time back at Blake's Big Apple in 3 years and it is just as delightful as I remember! We came at the end of September and that was the tail end of their honeycrisp apple picking availability so I'd strongly recommend that you come no later than end of September. When we pulled up to buy our bags ($1 each) for the u-pick and told them that we were here for honeycrisp, the attendant wasn't sure if there were going to be any honeycrisp left given that she thought they had been picked clean. Thankfully, they had 3 rows of honeycrisp trees available for picking and while the first 10-15 trees were slim picking, the further into the rows you went, the more bounty you could find and we were able to fill up 2 full bag/bushels with honeycrisp and honeycrisp only! If memory serves, I believe that Blake's Big Apple location is the only one with honeycrisp trees? So you won't be able to go apple picking for honeycrisp at their main orchard a few miles away. So if you're looking particularly for honeycrisp, go straight to Big Apple - they also offer a ton of other apple varieties too, along with pears, veggies, etc. We came here on a Saturday around 10 am and there were barely any people here, which was delightful so definitely come sooner rather than later if you can in the day! We stopped at the front building first to snag cider and donuts -- Blake's cider is A+, so I got a gallon and a cup to sip on while we headed into the u-pick area, but I can't stand their donuts - massive, dry, and cold, doesn't feel freshly made and way too dense. One donut was more than enough for me! It was also great weather (almost too great, going up into the high 70s - I'm looking for that crisp weather for apple picking my honeycrisp haha!) and the vibes were immaculate! There is nothing like picking your own apples at the apple orchard to really get you in the fall spirit!

    U-Pick Strawberries!

It's always fun here! I love taking my kids and picking apples in the fall, going to funland, and picking strawberries in early summer! Today we picked strawberries! 3.99/pound. Everyone here is pretty friendly. Check the website to see what you can currently pick. You can either drive your car out to the fields or take a wagon ride! They leave their Halloween stuff up in funland all year round. You can also feed animals there. Also, their other location is great for hard ciders on tap. This location has a few but not many

Blake's Big Apple, what can I say..... This place is... interesting to say the least. First of all, if you're reading this prior to going, here's two tips. Actually, three. Tip #1, be sure that you go to Blakes Big Apple, and not the cider mill. There are two locations, and nobody lets you know so here I am to help you out. Tip #2, if you're going to go, realize your time is worth more than $25.00. Pay the extra money and get the fast pass. Seriously. It will make your trip MUCH more enjoyable. You already sit in rush hour for a chunk of your life, why wait in a line for 3 hours just for a 17 year old in makeup to scream at you or your kids in the middle of a corn field, make it make sense. Tip #3, wear correct clothing. Boots if it's wet, jacket if it's cold, gloves whatever else, be comfortable. The food there was carnival style, good and cheap. Drinks were delicious along with the cider and donuts they hand out during the haunted hayride. The best attraction was the three story haunted barn but again, don't wait in the line, buy the fast pass for your own sanity. My girlfriend and I walked out with smiles on our faces and an October activity checked off our bucket list. Highly recommend! The only reason I knock off a star was because I want the owner to see this and put lights in the out houses!!! If I'm gonna use an out house, I'd like to at least see where I'm urinating lol. Otherwise dope place highly recommend. Thanks Blakes!

Ok I will do it once a year for my kids... Go to the Apple Orchard, pick out apples, pumpkin, do the hay ride pet the farm animals... Get chased my the angry population of Blakes Bees... add... 2.00 per animal feed cup x4 another 8 bucks... I come here over Westview because it is more cost effective... let me rephrase that... nothing is cost effective when your coming here lol but here is my advice... come super early! Plan on wearing a mask. Bringing your wallet and a jacket. A half gallon of cider will run you 5.95. Entrance to the petting zoo and kids attractions are 11.95 a person. Then your going to get hungry so a combo was 11.95 and a hotdogs was 3.00... hotdog was reasonable I suppose... 40.00 for 2 bags of doughnuts, a cider slush and more cider... Then your kids are going to want to pick pumpkins they start at 4.00 for pie pumpkins and go up from there... 1.5 hours later you got your yearly orchard fix and everyone is happy happy. And your broke.... See you next year!!!

For the haunted fest; it was a great time! Haunted hayride was great for kids! The host was engaging and made us laugh! The haunts were good for families! I love that you can walk around all the pumpkins and also you can buy cider and caramel apples!

There is nothing fancy about Brookwood. This is just a really great farm along a quiet country road that has belonged to the same family for over a century. Come here if you are looking for a peaceful day spent picking fruit or for a short stop to buy delicious donuts, apples, and cider. An oversized Homer Simpson doll welcomes you as you enter the store. A very kind young woman was working there the day I visited and she told me that the orchards were opened. Other than the orchards there is only the small store. Again, nothing fancy, but what matters is the quality of the products which I thought was excellent. There isn't hot apple cider but there is cold apple cider in the fridge and a slushie machine where you can fill your own slushie cup for $2. The cup provided was twice as large as the slushie I bought at Franklin Cider Mill for a whopping $4. I could tell that there are no preservatives added to Brookwood's cider. The cider was excellent and perhaps some of the best I have tasted, and I've been to a lot of cider mills this season. I will definitely return to Brookwood and continue to support this family business.

I stopped here too, today Tuesday August 15th…read more My main purchase was sweet corn. Now this location was $0.25 cheaper = $4.75 a dozen. This farm business had more white corn to choose from and the bi-color + also yellow. I bought 6 White and 6 Bi-Color to make my dozen. After parking, are large wagons carts already sorted with colored corn to bag up faster. Then pay inside and/or shop also for vegetables and FRUIT. Everything is arranged very nicely, labeled properly with signs to read prices. I bought 3 nectarines the size of a softball at $1.29# I will try and if they're juicy and sweet, then I'll come back for more. There are some summer help "students" working along with 2 old time sisters.. Owner Virginia is 84 and sister Marianne is 82. Both of them work here to keep busy with their "senior peppy energy" since it's their family business! I did not get their names, shame on me, but I will have to go back and buy some more delicious corn. I had one of each color for dinner today and it was perfect and did not need any salt because it was sweet enough. The history of this farm goes back many years since 1926 , see my photo with the sign to prove. Also do the math it's 92 years old. Its a very well-kept farm with competitive pricing and fresh produce. I have in the past bought 2 or 3 beautiful, full size hanging baskets with 6 different plants in pot at lower prices than English Gardens, or Weigands. Shhhh Again I look foward also at the end of July and the month of August to buy from this location. Clap your hands, Thumbs up for these Farmers, that are still working hard over many years, down the line carrying on the growing farm tradition and their family business name. Let's support your neighbor, the farmers that I've been here way before any other residents in this crazy busy city of Macomb Township. I am happy to drive up, stop and shop to support them! ;)

The playground was cute for them, I liked the basketball hoop and the underground tubes they could crawl through. They had a chance to feed the animals, but I did not get much time over there this time. They loved the very large slide. There is a hay bale for the kids to jump around, but the images online look like it might be several tiers, but on this day it was only two and the kids told me there were a lot of hole. The tractor ride was fun. Since it is summer, I did not see anything to pick yet, but it looked like they will have a bunch for fruits and vegetables in the fall. There is a large area for the kids to have lunch, some of it was covered. I did not have a chance to check out the store, wine section, or anything outside the kid area. I did not try any cider, but we had cinnamon sugar donuts. I only had one bite and gave the rest to my child, but it was very delicious and fairly large. It tasted nice and fresh. I wonder if the donuts are this large in the fall. There was an outdoor concession stand. They sold drinks and treats, the turnovers looked delicious. My child got a cider/ blue raspberry slush, it was a very hot day so it was good they sold them. I liked that they had real bathrooms with running water. But I wish they had a better water filling station for the kids. They were getting very hot and the only places to fill their water was the bathroom sink or next to the animals and they were not excited about either of those options. Plus, the kids were very little, so they did not have money from home to buy cold waters. The people working here seemed nice and seemed to have experience with fieldtrips with little kids. I am not sure if I will come back and bring the rest of my family, but if I do, it would be on a weekend in the Fall to check out the rest of their offerings.
