Not at all what I expected. Sub-par quality of meat. The roasted cauliflower with meat sauce and mozarella didn't have any good flavor, couldn't taste any cheese or meat on it. Also smelt weird, which ruined the whole experience. Had to leave it after a couple of bites. Definitely would not recommend. 1/2 tri tip half and half medium done, felt ok, but DO NOT get the non bbq sauce flavour, it was not good. Maybe will try different items on the menu next time, if there's one. $50 for two people seems wasted when you can't eat the entree and had to leave almost all of it. This place is to die for!!! There hasn't been anything on the menu I haven't liked. In my opinion, their pasta and garlic bread are their best winners!! Try the tomesto pasta--it's a split bowl, half is covered with their tomato sauce and the other half is mixed with their pesto sauce. The best of both worlds! It's a order at the counter and they'll bring the food to you type of restaurant. If it's busy, they'll have a host to guide you to your table, but otherwise you get to pick your own seats as well. Randomly stopped here on the way home and i was pleasantly delighted! After the line to order and get our number everything looked up. Picked up our drinks and they have an amazing brewed tropical iced tea!! My favorite!! The runner brought out our grilled cauliflower with tahini that ended up being delicious! Wasnt sure what to expect but I found a new love for cauliflower. Next our garlic bread and pizza came, both tastey! Finally our INCREDIBLE garlic mashed potatoes arrived...if you like both garlic and potatoes like myself, you'll be in potato heaven. They will provide you with 2 servers (additional fee) depending on how big your party is and they will set up a beautiful buffet table for you. Disposable plates, utensils, and napkins are included, as well as to-go boxes if you need them. From set up to clean up, they will take care of everything within the time allotted and would even pack up your leftovers for you. Linens are provided but everything else you will have to take care of such as tables and chairs for buffet and dining. Having a casual event? No problem. You can choose to order food for pick up or have it delivered for a minimal fee. Our recent event went very smoothly, thanks to STONEFIRE Grill's competent staff. Deciding on the menu was not hard due to their flexibility to change items and because they offer dishes that cater to anyone with special dietary needs. We went with the CHICKEN & TRI TIP COMBO which already came with their "irresistible" BREADSTICKS (I swear by them), plus 2 sides (salad, sides, hot pasta). BBQ CHOPPED SALAD was not an option but for an additional .79 cents per person, we made it happen. That's money well spent, folks because if you don't know yet, aside from the breadsticks, this salad is quite the stud. Why not when it has corn, tomatoes, onions, beans, and man those tortilla strips sure make this a crunchy salad to devour. HOT PESTO PASTA has got to be your other side dish. I promise you it will be a big hit at your party. As for the mains, you can't go wrong with their flavorful grilled TRI TIP that's tender and juicy -- add a dollop of their signature bbq sauce and it'll have you say mmhhmm! Stonefire Grill is my family's favorite restaurant. The most surprising item on their menu to me is their Cobb Salad. It's standard in that it has hard boiled egg, blue cheese and bacon, but their dressing is a zesty olive oil vinaigrette instead of a standard ranch. We usually order it with tri tip and a side of ranch. Their vinaigrette dressing makes the whole salad. In every single bite you get equal parts of bacon, lettuce, egg, blue cheese and meat and to top it off, you taste the acidic and salty dressing. Besides the Cobb, everything else is great. Their Tomesto for the kids is super saucy and the pasta is perfectly al dente. Some other faves are their tri tip and lemon garlic chicken breast. All are tender and juicy and perfectly cooked each and every time. The one thing that I can do without are their bread sticks. It looks like it would be cheesy and flavorful, but for whatever reason, the coating/powder is pretty bland. There's always plenty of seating and parking and the entire staff is always friendly. First timer here. This was bad. I mean, really bad. Got charged 40$ for flat soda, overcooked ribs, bland tri tip and boring chicken. Impossible to find greens that were not salad. Staff looked like they were working at a morgue. Breadsticks deserve their own paragraph. They tasted like old cereal that had been discarded and then overcooked. They were awful! I don't ever eat leftovers from a restaurant or ever have a feeling wanting to come back for more always, but Stonefire Grill is simply amazing. I can't get enough of their pesto pasta, their entrees and their super delicious breadsticks. The staff is always so kind and accommodating. Placed a to go order. When I went to pick it up I asked for extra ranch for my salad. I was given the extra ranch and also charged $4 more for extra dressing. Unbelievable!! You're a freaking restaurant and you're charging for extra dressing!??!! And if you're going to charge for the extra salad dressing at least fill up the container to the top and not halfway. After all you are charging me for it. Oh and I also was not given utensils for my food when I specifically asked for it there at the counter. It's small things like this that leave a bad taste in your customers mouth. Honestly it's not about the $4 but it just seems so petty to charge a paying customer who bought food from you for extra salad dressing. It's been 2 years and another job since first trying SG and when they said we were having this catered I had misgivings but this time the food was surprisingly very good. The salad and breadsticks were so-so but everything else was cooked perfectly and great, which is not easy when you're catering food for like 50 people. This place has really good food but is very difficult to navigate when it gets busy. The system they have for seating doesn't work at peak hours as it's easy to get bypassed waiting to place your order by people who don't put there names in and cut ahead. If it's lunch or dinner time it's better to use door dash and let someone else deal with it. read more

We moved back to Irvine and decided to try the restaurant again. It seems it went downhill from what is used to be. I had the TriTip and it was hardly edible. Apparently whoever sliced it doesn't know it must be sliced against the grain and not with the grain. The result was the meat was tough and chewy. The garlic mashed potatoes were plentiful but cold and too salty. The baby back ribs were ok but the ends were inedible because they were overdone and almost burned. This used to be a very nice restaurant but now it's a total disappointment considering the food quality and high prices. read more

Wow the customer service is horrible! I called to place a to go order and the representative I talked to was nice like always but when I arrived and parked at the curbside to go parking I was met by Melinda shaking her head saying no i don't think she wanted to me to park there i don't know what was going on in her head but then I told her I have a to go order and she gave me a dirty look like fine I'll help you. Her demeanor was definitely not friendly. After she went to get my ticket and I handed her my card as she was walking away she yelled at me and said are you going to give a tip and I usually do but I was so pissed off at the way she was being that I said no. When she came back to give me my card and receipt she didn't even say thank you or have a great day she just handed it to me and walked away. I have gone to Stonefire in fountain valley for the last 7 years and have never experienced anything but pleasant workers. This is my first time visiting this location since I was close by and didn't want to drive to Fountain Valley since I was coming from Silverado Canyon. As you can see most of the reviews I usually write are good ones and I haven't written a review in a very long time but this definitely called for one. If your going to have someone outside greeting customers I would highly recommend someone who actually loves there job and has a smile on their face who makes you feel inviting and easy not someone who makes you rethink if you should have even ordered here. This restaurant is fast casual where you order at the counter and your food is brought out to you. Service is always friendly and attentive. I also like the fact that several employees come check back on your table after your food is served to see if you are enjoying your meal or need anything. The are tables and booths throughout the restaurant and they can accommodate large parties if needed. On my last visit here, there were about 10 policemen and 5 firemen eating in the restaurant which proves hearty, good food is served here. It hurts me to write this updated review, if only because if you look at the last review I wrote for SFG a few years back - you could see I was an obvious fan. Not only did I rave about them to all my friends/family, but also ensured that most of my office parties were catered with food from SFG. In any case, met up with a friend to have dinner here a week or so ago. He ordered a pizza thing and I ordered the Boneless Chicken Breast/Tritip Meal that came with a Caesar Salad and breadsticks. While my salad was great - perfectly seasoned and marinated - the breadsticks were hard and tough. Not chewy, flavorful or even buttery from the ones I remember I used to drool over. I actually had to let the breadsticks sit in the tritip sauce in an attempt to soften them up but gave up eating them after awhile since it lacked flavor. The chicken was cold. It was cooked, but it was probably between cold and warm. And really salty. I ordered the chicken with the lemon garlic flavor but I definitely did not taste any of the garlic from the sauce. It was forgettable and I only ate half of my chicken portion. The tritip on the other hand was great - but considering how bad the rest of my meal was - to say I was disappointed would be a understatement. What's worse was that my friend had never been to SFG before and had suggested to go elsewhere, but going off my multiple experiences with them over the years, I insisted that we went here for dinner. He took half of his pizza home and I couldn't tell if it was because he didn't like it or he was full. Could've been an off-night for them - it was a Tuesday evening and the place was only partially full. But I don't imagine I'll be going out of my way to return here anytime soon. read more

Nosh on! OK, so this is a review for the Pick Up service, not the Restaurant experience so much. We'd spent aWHILE shopping at CostCo around the corner (Yes, I know, it's always aWHILE shopping at CostCo....) and needed a good dinner. We needed Salad! Phone the order in while we were still at CostCo and it was all ready for us when we go there. No problem getting extra dressing. The servings are HUGE. I always order my salads "wet" because, indeed, I like a lot of dressing. Unlike my pookie who is a drier salad man. Super fast and great service. Will definitely be back. My family loved Stonefire Grill and I tried to ordered Family Meal. We are all disappointed with the outcome of their meat. Tritip was dried and lack of butter, Chicken breast with lemon garlic was so dried too and lack of lemon garlic. And the most awaited breadsticks were so hard and their dough was not fully fluffy and so hard to chew. I even gave a very generous gratuity for them. I hope they need to improve their cooking like the same as before. They are so in a hurry and they forgot the quality of their food..sorry i have to rate you below zero..very very unhappy read more

Oh, I am becoming a fan for Stonefire Grill in Irvine. Entwined under the warm summer sun and the ocean breeze, a little American BBQ sounded appetizing for dinner, and an excellent beginning to transition into a new month. We were actually deciding on Lucille's, then realized the long wait for the weekend was not nearly worth it for a well known chain, so my friend suggested Stonefire Grill that was close to his house. Upon entrance I was dazed that ordering was upon the front instead of being waited. If you have dined at Shakey's pizza parlour, expect Stonefire Grill to be just the same. We ordered half baby back ribs, and tri-tips, and a plate of BBQ chicken which both comes with your choice of salad starter. We both chose the cartwheel based on recommendation by one of the workers. To my surprise however, the cartwheel salad was phenomenal,and full of bursting flavour! I appreciated the abundance of beets, radishes, garbanzo beans, and tortilla strips mixed with the salad making it a hearty start. This was a definite favourite that I like to ask for to-go on quick lunch runs. The baby back ribs were sooo tender; for someone who rarely consumes meat, I was a fan of this meal! The meat practically falls right off the bone; I can tell this was cooked just right. The tri-tip was flawlessly medium rare along with soft texture. I've actually ate at Stonefire Grill a couple of years ago and the restaurant was super crowded and popping like popcorn! Still today, the restaurant continues to be POPPING like its hot! *Note: Stonefire Grill has 7 other locations in Southern California if this location is not close by to you. Service (3.5 star): There's only counter service here, but the staff are pretty friendly and welcoming. The worker who was taking our order helped us decide between two different kinds of pizza. *Note: There is an option of doing half and half for the pizza! (WOOT WOOT!) Decor (3.5 star): The decor of Stonefire Grill is very casual with tables and booths throughout the restaurant. There is a patio area for anyone who would like to dine outside and to enjoy a beautiful day. Food: So, my buddies and I shared a 16 inch pizza for dinner which comes in 8 slices. For one half of the pizza we ordered Mesquite BBQ chicken (4 star) and the other half Stonefire's Favorite (5 star). The Mesquite BBQ chicken had Gouda cheese, cilantro, and red onions which tasted very yummy. The cheese was super duper cheesy and it strings down as you take each bite of the pizza. For the Stonefire's Favorite pizza it had homemade pesto, avocado, red onions, mozzarella, leta cheese, and fresh basil. This pizza was delicious and unique!
