Parker Thompkinson helped me with a take out order on Sunday, February 11th. I came in and made modifications to my order, and not only did he greet me and recognize me as a former employee, but he checked our order and quickly realized there were a couple of items forgotten. He took the leadership to ask another employee to help him grab the food. I saw them fist bump one another, and he just seemed to have a really enthusiastic, can do, positive attitude, which made my trip that much better. I drove all the way from L.A county to pick up a semi large to-go order but of course was running late. The staff (especially Christina) and managers (George and Coyotl) were so kind enough to let me pick up my food past closing time. I felt horrible because they absolutely did not have to wait since I agreed to pick up at a certain time. It was my responsibility to arrive on time. I've also eaten there once (upon a time) and the food was delicious and everyone was so friendly. I'm just sorry it took this long for me to finally write a review. The food at Stonefire is awesome. Their stimulus package is an affordable way to feed a small party. Yet I recently had a negative experience with their takeout. The young lady at the front takeout desk was doing a phenomenal job. But she was completely overworked. She was answering phone calls, taking orders at the front, getting orders to guests who piled up at the door, and walking to the kitchen to ask the staff for marinara sauce and things that were missing from orders. For some reason, it took them 22 minutes to give me a small packet of marinara sauce. The girl at the front was working her butt off while two, what looked to be managers, surveyed the restaurant and did nothing to help with the dinner rush. I really don't want to do takeout again here after this experience. The food was great, but in a night when I was in a rush, the restaurant failed to put their employees in a position to succeed. I felt like the guy from bar rescue who could easily notice that there was something wrong with the management and organization of the staff. Improve the customer experience and this place is easily a 4 or 4.5 star. read more

Stonefire Grill.... Two words.. Tri-tip and Carrot Cake... I attend Concordia University in Irvine, the university that is hidden in the "holy hills" and that no one knows about. Anyways, sitting in class and my professor says, "OH MY GOSH~ Everyone in this class needs to go to Stonefire Grill." So being a good student I find myself sitting at a table with the number 81 assigned to me, don't I feel like i'm at the DMV, and here comes a young man with my salad...then another person comes along and there it was... the mouth wateringly amazingly ridiculous i don't even want to spell correctly jakdfljsk good tri-tip...so i sit there staring at this plate of meat poking at it. What am I supposed to do with it? It just looks too good to eat. So I take a bite and... the angels fell down and joined me for dinner. To top off the meal a little birdie swooshed by my table and dropped off a package of carrot cake... one word can describe that cake... decadent.... anywhos, 5 stars, the whole team there runs a great restaurant, managers are good people, and the food for its price is unbeatable. If you go, may I suggest, the Stimulus Package, 1 pizza, half tri-tip, salad, and breadsticks...for a WHOPPING $20. Enough to feed 3 hungry people or 4 people people...haha... Its been 5 years since the last time I ate here and the food is just as good as I remember it. The service is pretty good too. Paola took my order and explained the plate sizes to me. If you haven't been here before, you place your order first at the front and pay. After that, they give you a tracker which you place wherever you decide to sit. Then highly skilled, GPS powered food runners bring your food wherever you are and also offer to grab anything you might need like extra forks, napkins, etc. The drink station is self-service. I ended up ordering a small BBQ Tri-Tip Salad. Don't let the size mislead you, though. A small feeds 1-2 people or me when I am starving. In other words, hide your children if I am not at Stonefire! :-) Ambiance and dress as casual. Rock music plays on the overhead speakers. Right now, I hear My Cherona. Tried this location during a weekday lunch. I'm a fan of their Ceasar Salad. It was busy but I had a few choices of seating after I ordered at the counter. I ordered a Quarter Chicken/Tri Tip Combo that comes with a choice of salad and two yummy bread sticks. Guess which salad I choose! The Chicken had lemon seasoning and the Tri-Tip herb butter. The Salad was huge for one person, but I ate it all and just had a little of bit of chicken and meat. Took home the rest and 1 1/2 bread sticks (for my son). The salad was delivered first and maybe 10 mins later out came the hot food. The chicken was juicy and the tri tip was med. rare. Everything was good. The only thing I don't like is having to remember to get a plate, utensils, napkins a togo box. I had to get up too many times and weave my way through the seating area. This location is smaller than the Fountain Valley one. I like the food, just not the set up of the self service drink/plate station. read more

It came with mashed potatoes which honestly were super dry, a salad, we chose a Cesar and bread sticks. We also ordered a large pizza called The Works for an additional $17.99 (pepperoni, sausage, red onions, green peppers and mushrooms) don't waste your money on this pizza as it extremely similar to the Costco Combo Pizza! read more

great convenient place. the restaurant has a lot of seating and is spaced out enough to where you do not feel like you are not listening to your neighbor's conversation. even though this is pseudo-self-service place, the servers are very helpful with anything you ask. the only thing i order here is the stimulus package. i go and think that i will order something different, but it is honestly the best deal and the best variety. it includes, a choice of tri-tip, chicken, or rib, a choice of salad, a whole pizza, and breadsticks. my order is usually the tri-tip (half bbq half gorgonzola butter), caesar salad, breadsticks, and pineapple with canadian bacon (i personally enjoy chicken and avocado). the tri-tip is usually pretty good. even though they ask you how you want it cooked, it ends up being medium to medium-well. i prefer medium-rare, but the flavor is good enough for me. i've read in other reviews that the meat is tough and chewy. it is hit/miss with this place because they crank out a bunch of these orders. the caesar salad has A LOT of garlic, which i love, but i can see not being so great to other people. it has a spicy zip to it that will tickle your nose. but the portion is large and usually can't be finished between 2 people. the breaksticks are covered in garlic and parmesan, it's like poetry. the pizza is cooked in a "stonefire grill" so it has a rustic taste to it but it is mostly crust. they have a selection of wines which i tried once. it was a nice compliment to the tri-tip and to the rest of the meal. i love places where you can refill your own drinks. i wish more restaurant were setup like this so that the little things that you need and hate always asking for are available for you to get when you want them. i feel that this place is best for families and couples. my girlfriend and i go often and we eat our meal then save the leftovers for lunch at work the next day. $20 covers 2 meals for 2 people, i can't complain. if you get the chance, try other things on the menu. i hear a lot of good things about their pastas, but i don't really know personally. read more

this place is really goood! i've lived in irvine for almost 3 years now and this was the first time ever going here :O you order carl's jr style where you order at a cash register beforehand and they give you a number and bring your food to your table wherever you sit, pretty casual! the meat is pretty damn deliciouss, we got the ribs, chicken, and tri tip combo and all three were very satisfying. each of the meats were amazing and the breadsticks were also pretty bomb. overall the food is very filling and delicious, i would recommend either the chicken or tri tip. look to spend 12~20$$ depending on what you order read more

I came here for the first time for dinner and I did not feel this was 4 star worthy food. Our chicken on our pizza was totally dried out and out pizza had almost no sauce on it. Our bread sticks were stale and lacked flavor. When we pointed out to the server the bread stick was clearly old and stale she took them away but never came back to offer to refund our card. After 10 minutes I went up myself and asked. The girl seemed confused and said "she didn't know how to handle the situation." Since I only had 1/2 of a bread stick I went to the manager and finally got my refund. I was all around not impressed and won't be returning. read more

I highly recommend Stonefire Grill for takeout or catering. The quality of the food and the taste are unbeatable. The price is also very reasonable. I ordered 'The Works' from their Crowd Pleaser menu for my son's highs school graduation dinner. We had 20 guests and ended up with a lot of left overs. The tri tip was cooked to perfection, juicy and delicious. The roasted chicken with savory herb and garlic seasoning was amazing. All the sides from mashed potatoes to Cesar salad, baked beans, and especially the quinoa salad were big hits. I also ordered two slabs of baby back ribs... All gone. All of our guests were impressed with the food and are now fans of Stonefire Grill. I will definitely order again. read more

I've only had a couple things to eat here. I've had the truth-tip, which is tender enough and flavorful. I had the garlic chicken breadth, which is pretty good, though a bit dry. I've also had the ribs, which are not very good. The breadsticks and the salads are amazing and the pizzas look pretty good. I would and do eat here regularly. read more

My family and i came here for the first time and have had a miserable time. They were out of many menu items and had terrible service. We were there well before closing but the employees were cleaning and making us feel rushed. While filling up our fountain drinks there was an employee trying to service the machine. The Dr Pepper was out of syrup and my brother notified the employee, and he just said "ok cool." The breadsticks had no flavor, the salad had an odd milky ranch dressing, and the rigatoni with the meat sauce had no flavor as well, other than the sour taste of the large chunks of parsley on top. We ordered three chicken breasts amongst other items, and the chicken was completely forgotten about and didn't get brought out until after we complained, but we were told they weren't brought out because they needed to defrost. Frozen chicken at a grill?? Embarrassing. Still, though, only two breasts were brought out, and only two sides. And then, one of the chicken breasts was not fully cooked. After complaining we had our meal refunded, which was excellent and very appreciated. Hopefully this was simply an off day for the restaurant. read more

Went there for the first time today. The breadsticks were cold and slightly hard (wth) and the chicken tortilla soup has one piece of meat in it. ONE PEICE. It wouldn't be a big deal if I hadn't inquired about if the soup was good and the guy said "oh yea it's so much protein and so chunky" so that is what I was expecting. I probably would have skipped this review if there were two pieces lol. I have yet to taste the carrot cake, but hopefully I don't come back and change this to a one star after I take a bite. read more

Went to stone fire grill yesterday. I had an eye opening experience. Not only was the environment refreshing and embracing, but also the food was absolutely to die for!! I swear I can shove 12 breadsticks in my mouth at the same time (it's true!) and do no get me started on the tri-tip. Wow. Just wow. Along with the amazing food, the guest service was impeccable!! Went to dinner at Stonefire Grills in Irvine, CA on 12/40/16. Ordered two combination dinners, the coleslaw that came with the combination was extremely salty. We asked for the manager who said it could be the salt from the peanut included in the coleslaw (???). Why used salted peanut if you knew it was going to spoil the coleslaw to begin with? We only took a bite from one of the two bowls of coleslaw, and let the manager knew she could taste the one we didnt touch to see how salty it was. The manager was nice when she offered to replace the coleslaw but we were too full. read more
