Solid Thai/Laotian restaurant with a great selection of favorites. This has been my go-to place whenever I am craving Thai food. Although it was good upon my first try here, I feel like the food has gotten much more consistent and continues to impress. My favorites are the Spicy Chicken Pad See Ew, BBQ Meat Platter, Chicken Garlic Noodles, and their Fried Rice. Although the price seems a bit more expensive than neighboring Thai restaurants, they do give you a lot for your order. I have been impressed by all their drinks, from their Iced Coffees, Iced Teas, Virgin Drinks, and their Cocktails. This is a very welcomed addition to the eateries in Concord. I'm still kind of upset at my SO and I for not going to this place sooner. Sure, we've both scrolled past it many a time on Yelp, but we only started going in January 2022 at the newer Monument location. We liked the previous tenants OK Cafe quite a bit, but the flavors of Stix are unparralled in the area. You know those dishes that you talk about in every day but don't eat everyday(perhaps because you don't want to actually look like drunken noodle). It is indeed the drunken noodles and tofu grob for us. Yeah, like others have mentioned, both a little oily, but I eat out as a break from the quitiedien, kinda healthy meals, so both of these tasty, basil-icious dished just hit the spot. I ALWAYS LOVE THIS PLACE. I work down the street so I love coming here for lunch breaks. Their food taste authentic and always full of flavor. I've never had a bad meal from here. Their presentation is always plated nicely. I think it is family owned. The women working are always friendly and want to make sure you enjoy your meal. Best Thai food in the area. First thing we did after moving into Walnut Creek was eat at every Thai/Laos joint in the area, focusing on identifying the best papaya salad. After trying 4 or 5 Thai restaurants in the area, this is it. The actual restaurant is very modest and is in a working class area. Don't judge it by its looks or surroundings because the flavors pack a punch. My only complaint is sticky rice for $3 is insane, I wished the papaya salad came with a portion like other Thai restaurants. So it's about time I leave a review for this place since I've tried it a couple times. The first time I came here they had just opened up. Lots of seating inside and they greet you right at the door. They also sell beer here as well. But the first time trying this place I got the hawaiian fried rice which was full of flavor and the Tom Yum soup. A lot of places for Thai food are somewhat stingy with their servings but not this place. Stix was so good the first time trying it I had to try it out again. This time I tried the garlic fried rice which they put a bunch of fried garlic on top so if you're a garlic lover this is one to try. I got the chicken wings on a stick which comes with 6 with full of flavor and again the Tom Yum soup all to go. Not one of the entries were a small portion. OMG, one of my favorite places. They relocated, but have been in business for years. The food is super traditional, heavier on the fish sauce, and heavy on the flavor profile. I have had a wide array of different dishes and have been happy with everything here. If you haven't been to this location, it has a bit smaller dine-in, so it could be hard to get a table, but they do EXCELLENT takeout with good packaging. read more

The food is decent. Really good... if you actually get it. Just picked up order.. said it felt , was reassured that everything was there, drove 20 minutes home to discover.. no rice. This is NOT the first time this has happened.. we used to door dash them every week..but after 2 different short orders, we started getting them ourselves.. now again they screwed up. Making rice while our food gets cold..not happy. Called and asked and was told it could have been the dasher ...me. After I said I was the dasher.lee just ordered online...then she said if you don't specify, the "yellow curry with rice" doesnt come with rice ... .?? we have ordered the same dishes each time.. admit you are wrong. This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the area - it's the go-to restaurant for many of my co-workers. The food is excellent and the staff is friendly. The owner is amazing and even recognizes my voice when I call in an order. I have always had consistently delicious meals here. Some of my favorites include Panang Curry, Thai BBQ Pork and Chicken, Angel Wings, Koong Sarong, Cucumber Salad, and Pad Se-Ew. Opened a few weeks ago, STIX became the third Southeast Asian restaurant to open in the Park N' Shop shopping center (the other two are pho joints). It took over the space used to be occupied by McDonald's. My Yelp buddies Richard and Judy K. tried this place recently and had great things to say about them. So earlier this evening, my brother and I met Richard and Judy here for dinner. We walked in just after 6:00pm and Richard and Judy had already arrived. I was a bit surprised to see that we were the only patrons. The interior had gone through a complete transformation. Walls are now teal blue and decorated with paintings and some stick-like objects. Where the old cash register used to be is now a food prep area. I spotted two TVs mounted on the walls. Overall, I found the environment to be clean and pleasant. Richard and Judy had already ordered a couple appetizers prior to our arrival. After checking out their menu, we added a few items to our order. Below is what we got: - Fried Calamari ($10) - Laotian Sausages ($6, two skewers) - Chicken Wings ($6, three skewers) - Crispy Coconut Rice Salad ($14) - Red Curry Beef ($12) - Yellow Curry Chicken ($12) - Chicken Pad See Ew ($12) The Laotian sausages and chicken wings were first to arrive. Both had a strong lemongrass flavor. The homemade pork sausages were juicy and had a great meat to fat ratio. Chicken wings were grilled just right. They were moist and flavorful. Calamari were cut into long strips, lightly battered, and fried to golden perfection. Prior to service, they were dusted with a bit of salt and pepper and served with a sweet chili sauce. They were crispy and not rubbery at all. The crispy coconut rice salad was sublime! The salad was made with lettuce, aromatics, fermented pork, and crispy rice. It was tossed with a lime dressing and topped with some chopped peanuts. The greens were very fresh. Along with the crispy rice, they gave the dish some nice crunch. The fermented pork added a bit of richness, much like adding bacon to an American salad. The lime dressing was bright and refreshing but not overwhelming. The entire thing had great textural and taste contrasts. The curry dishes were okay. Taste wise, the red curry was slightly spicy while the yellow one was a bit sweet. Both had ample amount of vegetables in them. Regrettably, the meats were a bit on the tough side. The pad see-ew was a bit disappointing. While the taste was decent, the flat rice noodles clumped together and the chicken was a bit dry for my taste. Service was excellent. The two young ladies were polite, cheery, and helpful. They checked on us and refilled our water on several occasions. With T/T, the meal came out to about $90, which I thought was reasonable. I'm glad Richard and Judy introduced this place to my brother and I. The food was good overall and the service was very friendly. I can certainly see myself eating here again. Last night I followed Harvey K.'s review to the just opened Stix Eatery located in the far eastern corner of the Park n' Shop center in Concord. Stix took over the space vacated by the previous tenants McDonald's the homeless hangout and the short lived Rock'n Crawfish. Stix is a Thai / Laos BBQ joint. It's obvious that they did little to change the interior since it was Rock'n Crawfish. The picnic style tables and bright florescent lighting. Large big screen TV's had sports on. The menu is has BBQ items as well as traditional Thai items. We ordered the following items: BBQ chicken wing skewers 4 stars 6 in the order =$1 each Fried Calamari 4 stars crispy crunchy Lao sausage 3.5 stars ok a tad bit dry. Minced chicken and basil stir fry. 3.5 stars Sticky rice I learned a little about the cuisine, when the sticky rice came. It was hard a stuck together and hard to get apart with my fork. But the server taught us that it is supposed to be that certain texture and meant to be picked apart with your fingers and dipped with the food. It clicked and made sense, so in the future I'll know better. Service was excellent. Plenty of parking in the big shopping center. I never knew a McDonald's could go out of business until I moved to the East Bay and found out the McDonald's at the Park N' Shop shopping center suddenly closed its doors last April. Then again, this location didn't have a drive-thru and was the pit stop for the many homeless people that roam the streets of Concord as if they were extras in George Romero's Night of The Living Dead. BTW RIP George. So what sat vacant for over a year finally opened a few weeks ago as STIX Eatery (STIX), a Thai- and Laotian-themed restaurant that has no relation to that disappointing fast-food chain known as Pick Up Stix. In fact, the owners of STIX used to own and operate another Thai restaurant in Pleasant Hill known as Savanh. The wife and I came in for lunch about a week ago and had a combination Pad Thai and a Chicken Panang. The Pad Thai was very flavorful and the Panang Curry was ten-thousand tasty. Let's just say, it's been a long, long, long, really, really, really, long, long, long, time since any Asian food in Concord made me happy. Before I progress any further, I will proclaim that STIX is the best Thai food and possibly best Asian food in Concord. Don't give me none of that yadda-yadda Asian-something house/bistro/boat nonsense. STIX is a play on the word sticks and the reason for that is they focus on 40% skewers such as satay, wings, sausage, and meatballs and the remaining 60% consists of non-skewer appetizers and entrees. STIX was so good that I had to take fellow Yelpers Harvey K. and Steve K. to try it out tonight. We ended up getting the Calamari, Chicken Wing Skewers, Laotian Sausages, Yellow Curry, Red Curry, Pad Se-Ew, and Nam Khao that STIX calls Crispy Coconut Rice Salad. While the Pad Se-Ew was not to my liking since the noodles were stuck together like rice cakes, and the Yellow Curry was so-so, everything else was spot on. In fact, I really loved the Crispy Coconut Rice Salad consisting of fermented pork pieces with crispy rice, mint, scallion, and red onion in a lime dressing that was savory and tangy with soft and crunchy textures. GET THIS. Despite some misses, I still see myself coming back for some more because the dishes that were good like the Crispy Coconut Rice Salad, Panang Curry, and Laotian Sausage were fantastic. And once they get their beer and wine license, I can see myself catching a game or two on their big screens while getting my grub on. * Definitely try the Laotian sticky rice when ordering curry. I prefer it over jasmine rice. * The décor for STIX is totally hipster mixed with Golden State Warriors-colored walls that included throw-back metal chairs and wooden tables to mason jar water glasses. * Stix is a welcome addition to the shopping center along Willow Pass Road known as the Park N' Shop, which should be called Get-Your-Car-Broken-Into-While-You-Shop. Located where McDonalds used to be at the Concord Park and Shop, I have been waiting for them to open for quite some time now. It was a nice surprise, when I walked in here with my family, we didn't know what kind of cuisine they were serving. It was a nice mixture of Thai/Loas cuisine and very awesome. As usual when we get to go to a new place, we ordered way too much and tried a ton of food. Tom Kha soup: good flavor, ton of chicken breast and mushrooms. Needs a little more coconut milk in my opinion but still really good. Garlic fried rice: this was the best dish of the whole meal. A real simple dish really, but made very well. Egg and garlic fried rice with a ton of fried garlic on top. Red curry with chicken: very good, not the best. It went great with a side of rice and loaded with veggies. Grill chicken wings entree: think this must be one of the signature dishes. My kids can't get enough of this, it was awesome. Grill pork entree; vety good as well. Just enough grease to cover the meat with tons of flavor. Pad see ew: they had use American broccoli instead of Chinese broccoli like other places. Came with really good. Beef was slice paper thin, noodles were sticking together a bit too much for me. The service was excellent as well, a family run business with a great family feel to it. The staff made everyone feel like home. We will be back for more, will update when we try the other items on the menu. read more

A friend wanted to try this place. I've seen it as I would just drive by. It's located where the old McDonald's used to be. It's a bit strange because it's been McDonald's for as long as I could remember. As you walk in, it looks completely different. Actually looks pretty open, spacious. I like the rustic look of the table tops and the designs on them. Unique. Different. It's family style with good sized portions, we were told. We ordered the sausages, yellow curry with chicken and 2 side orders of white rice. We actually should have just ordered one size order of rice for the both of us because it was HUGE. The sausages came out and they were good. There is one ingredient in them that we just couldn't pin-point, and of course we forgot to ask what it was. The yellow curry was good. It had really good flavor and everything was cooked well. I could have licked the plate. It was definitely enough to feed 2 people, but I admit that I could have eaten the whole thing myself. But I'm glad we shared because I really wanted to try their dessert. We ordered an ube and coconut ice cream macaroon. It was a bit pricy for one at $5, but it was an alright size. I compare it to the ice cream macaroons at Poke Salad in downtown Concord. They're smaller, but you can get 3 for $10. Overall, I liked it. Our waittress was really nice. The staff was friendly. The place was clean. I think as more people find out about it, they'll get even more business. They have a great location. While it does have competition due to other resturants nearby, there are quite a few businesses and tall building housing several businesses, within walking distance. I really enjoyed my first visit here and plan to come back to try the rest of the menu, as I'm sure everything on the menu is delish. read more

I accidentally stumbled upon this place while walking around during my lunch break. What a pleasant surprise! A cute and modern Thai/Laotian cafe. Service was great. Immediately greeted by a very pleasant server with a big smile. The menu has a good offering too, with a separate lunch menu if you don't want to order off the regular menu. I ordered the papaya salad off the main menu. It's sooo good and healthy and tasty. I paid the extra $5 to get 5 pieces of prawn/shrimp as well. This salad was hearty and filling enough for a complete meal. They had sliced carrots, tomato, peanuts, and green peppers mixed in the delicious seasoning. But be aware that it's spicy- I love it spicy though! They served the entree with a small cup of cabbage soup in a chicken broth. Very tasty as well! I would definitely come back here and I'd like to try their wings next time too. If this was in a major metro area with a lot of Asian population I would have given a 4, but due to the location and this catering more towards the daytime clientele, I gave this place a 5. New Thai spot near the Ranch 99. Had the panang curry with tofu/brown rice and it was the closest in taste to what I had in Thailand last fall. The only thing that I would have liked if it was spicy but i'll have to request it next time. There's so many Thai restaurants around that are average at best but Stix is a welcome addition to the area. Price wise it was reasonable at $12 and comes with rice and portion was pretty good. Lunch specials are $2 less. Service was friendly/fast with plenty of seating and a good sized tv. Definitely will be back to try other stuff on the menu. read more

My family ordered food that we picked up last night. We ordered 3 of the curry's the fried drunken noodles, pad Thai, chicken satay and shrimp spring rolls. The curry's were loaded w the vegetables and proteins we wanted and well balanced. I have never had drunken noodles prepared like that and my wife and I loved it, kids didn't like it like that. Pad thai and chicken satay were delicious. The spring rolls were made the way we preferred, I prefer mint in mine and they were perfect. The staff were very kind and friendly. Our order arrived well before the estimate, so well done there. We got the following: -- Chicken satay w/ peanut sauce (four pieces). The chicken was cooked nicely and the peanut sauce was delicious. -- Papaya salad. When I opened the container, it smelled a bit too fish saucy, although the flavors ended up being delicious, the perfect balance of sweet and sour. -- Beef pad thai. Good, although I don't think I've ever met a pad thai I didn't like. -- Fried rice. This ended up being one of our favorite things, which was somewhat surprising since it was intended as more of a side situation. Great flavor with egg, scallion, and diced carrot. Dishes all ranged in the $10-$12 category and our order was easily enough for 2-3 meals for the two of us. We ate the leftovers happily. read more
