I've never dined in person, but I've had delivery from here before--lamb, baghali polo (herbed Lima bean rice), kabob, eggplant, and tahdig (crispy rice). They look like they've changed their menu to be more Mediterranean focused, to cater to more communities. I'll say, among the Persian community in Boston, no one really talks about Stardust, which is strange because they're pretty legit. The quality, taste, and delivery timeliness were all top-notch. I'm thinking maybe their location isn't as accessible, but I'd definitely recommend them as a Persian food option for delivery or takeout. Launched in 2020 amidst the pandemic, multiple food-entrepreneur Allen Zeinswood brings his Persian take on Mediterranean street cuisine. The space is small and intimate but the portions are large and the flavors "inspired." You can order off the menu or create your own. We came for the Gyro experience - but the menu is quite expansive and worth returning to explored more fully. I asked for my lamb-tenderloin gyro "Greek & Spicy" - which is laden with both Tzatziki (strained yogurt, cucumber, garlic) and a red spicy sauce. Normally, I prefer my gyro enclosed in a thick soft warm pita, but Stardust uses a thinner pita - which appears to accommodate a larger serving size while holding it all firmly together, without it falling out in a messy puddle. So I'm willing to overlook this bread issue. All in all, the star is the food, as it should be, and it doesn't disappoint. Allen is a very well-read and international citizen, who is engaging on all things Persian culture and cuisine. Strike up a convo and see where it goes. read more

Amazing food! Walked by this small joint so many times and we finally decided to order from here. We went around to pick up our order and I'm glad we did because we met the owner who was so friendly and welcoming. Wet had a good chat for 15-20 mins and he also gave us a couple of items to try. I'm glad he did because they were excellent and we're sure to order more! We tried the chicken, falafel, tzatziki, hummus, grape leaves and everyone enjoyed everything, which was great! Wow! I hosted a birthday party for 9 people and ordered a selection of meat, rice, salad, and dips. Everything was fantastic! The chicken kebab in particular was juicy and flavorful and the cherry and orange rices were a huge hit. Salads were fresh and perfectly seasoned and dressed. Stuffed grape leaves, falafel, and dips - all delicious. Everything was beautifully presented and the portions so generous, we had enough for two meals. I needed to update this review. I must have caught him on an off day last time, and frankly I was emabarassingly wrong. I got a large order from Stardust today, and everything was great. The food is very authentic and delicious. I ordered nearly everything on the menu, and the lamb tenderloin kebab and beef/chicken luleh (burger) kebabs were my favorite. Also, probably my favorite hummus I have had anywhere. This is a small place, so for large orders call well in advance! The owner is very friendly and does a great job. If you pick up in person the staff is sooooo nice. They throw in little goodies to try and will tell you treats that aren't always on the menu. What a pleasant break from the norm of shawarma and middle eastern grilled plates in Boston. There is SO MUCH variation to the cuisines of the region, but all we ever get i feel like is Greek, and hit-or-miss Lebanese-esque (which, when it's a hit, I do love), and those cuisines are pretty familiar and sadly most places are very cookie cutter. Not here! Stardust has everything I love about Greek and middle eastern food: fresh, not too oily, grilled meats, good rice (or flat bread), refreshing salads, and silky hummus, but it's a little different! "Inspired" even ;) I'll need to come back for some of their signature dishes, but can definitely recommend either chicken plate if you like the kind of meal I described. As others have mentioned, they are hefty! I would note that the spicy chicken is not at all "spicy", but it is "spiced" heavily, and comes with a hot pepper relish Service was fast when I can in around 1pm, and the (I'm assuming) owner hooked me up with some bread and baklava to try. So glad he did because they're both excellent! Bread is like a pita if it was fluffy, and the baklava tastes like nuts (not just sugar like at some other spots *cough*Boston Shawarma*cough*) and was a great end to lunch read more

Yes, just yes. Everything here is fresh, delicious, spot-on, and generously portioned. And, the owner is so nice to boot (even gave us a baba ganoush on the house!). My Shirin Polo plate came with like, 7-8 very large chunks of chicken kebab, hummus, salad, yogurt sauce, and that killer saffron rice topped with pistachios and almonds and candied orange/carrot and barberries. With the closing of places like Jasmine Taste of Persian, Khayyem, and Lala Rokh, there are far too few places to get this rice around here, and I'm thrilled we can find an excellent version at Stardust. But rice aside, everything else was delicious as well. My chicken kebab was marinated and seasoned perfectly with just a kiss of charcoaly exterior, and I could not stop eating the hummus. Even the little salad was tasty, with oregano and sumac in the dressing. And everything else we ordered was excellent- the chicken kubideh was probably some of the most flavorful ground chicken I've had in a while, the sour cherry rice was also yummy, the dolma had plenty of flavor, the spinach pie was crunchy and tasty, the yogurt cucumber dip was refreshing, the eggplant-hater in the house begrudgingly admitted that the (complimentary) baba was really good, the baklava was tasty, even the pita (while nothing special) made for some good bites. Not a bad item in the bunch, here. (Note that the mango lassi is a prepackaged item, so not homemade- nor is the pita, I believe.) The one downside is they don't really have their online ordering up and running, so you need to call- and they get a bit slammed sometimes so you might have to wait. Otherwise, what are you waiting for? Pop by for an excellent, healthy lunch or dinner. read more

We wanted to try this place out, and glad we did. The restaurant is a hole in the wall - not anything fancy, and strictly take out, but the food is very good. We tried the chicken and the vegetarian platters. The hummus (always the litmus test of mediterranean restaurants) is great, as are the grape leaves and even the rice is tasty. The chicken is relatively average, but all told I'm certainly prepared to try a few more items on the menu. I don't know how West Roxbury ended up with such a gem, but this place beats out pretty much every formal sit down Mediterranean place in downtown Boston. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and it is definitely meant to be take-out, but OMG for flavor, freshness, and visual appeal. What take out places garnishes with microgreens? Stardust does! We wanted to try everything, so we had a lamb kabob, a chicken kabob, the rice with carrot and orange, and the beef, eggplant, and dal stew (Ghaimeh Eggplant with Beef). Then the order came with a small, tangy salad, a side of tzatziki, and the best hummus that I have ever had including during a ten-day trip to Israel. The chicken was marinated in saffron and yogurt, which was super yummy. The lamb was solidly good. The next time (and the time after, and the time after, and the time after that), I might request the stew be vegetarian as the eggplant was the star of the dish, and the beef didn't matter. I've walked past this place a lot of times and kept meaning to give it a try, well today I went for it and I'm so happy I did. The grilled chicken was nicely grilled, the hummus is really delicious, and I really loved the little salad that comes with the plates. I'm not normally a fan of pre-dressed salads but this was excellent. I will be back just for that! Ordered delivery and it was easily the fastest delivery I've ever experiences. We have been coming to this restaurant making a 30 mins drive frequently over the past year and have been enjoying their chicken dishes a lot. We went there yesterday and the owner was quite rude and told us that the meat is not halal. We were shocked as we only eat halal food and we have been eating their meat dishes for a year now. The owner was pleasant previously and knew that we are Muslims who only eat halal food but never bothered to tell us before. We are taken aback by this restaurant's false advertising about it being halal and the rude owner. I'm quite particular about the flavor of the falafel balls, and Stardust's falafel has a flavor that's very close to the best of the mobile trucks you might visit around MIT.
