If the food looks good it's because it is! The fries were so good I had to take some home and I don't remember what drink I had but it was similar to a flavored lemonade that was also really good too. Only thing I wasn't a big fan of was their chicken kebab and I ordered a cookie with my meal that never came. Everything besides that was really good.

Pork shoulder pita and lemonade
Meg C.

Tried the pork shoulder pita and it just didn't really hit for me - maybe because it wasn't a gyro. The pork meat is shredded with a lot of liquid and the sauce is mustardy so the pita got soggy and created a puddle pretty quickly, even with the wrapper on. I also got a lemonade, as it was a hot day and it was a bit too sweet for my liking. Prices were a bit steeper than expected but that's everywhere these days. Service was fine, I ordered at the kiosk and they yelled my name and handed me my food. The space was clean and I was able to find a table easily. Overall okay experience but would prefer to go elsewhere for my Greek pita fix.

The frozen yogurt here was so good! On its own and with the Dubai chocolate toppings. Will have to come back to try the food sometime.

Saloniki is an awesome chain in Boston serving up tasty mediterranean flavors in a fast-food style restaurant. I love the traditional yet modern vibes of their atmosphere! With their various locations around the city, generous portion sizes, fast service, late hours, and menu variety, this is always a reliable spot. I highly recommend their chicken souvlaki skewer with some of their tasty tzatziki! They also have great fries and popular pita options. Really, there's nothing here you can get that wouldn't satisfy your greek cravings. It's probably one of the freshest greek spots in the Boston area! Though their flavors aren't the absolute most authentic or high-end, they're certainly a close replica and offer their own take on traditional dishes that's very accessible to all. So, while it's not blow your socks off, it's definitely a great spot that I can't find much to complain about!

Lamb Meatball Pita
Isabella C.

I've been to other locations but never tried any of the main food offerings. I got the lamb meatball sandwich. Although the ingredients were tasty, i thought the proportions of everything were off and they were stingy with the portion. The workers were friendly and hardworking! A fast-casual location to stop by, but I don't think i'll come back anytime soon.

Frozen Saloniki Greek Yogurt with honey, olive oil and salt
Adi M.

Cant talk much about the food because I only had the Greek yogurt but going just off of the quality of the honey and olive oil I know this place is authentic and excellent. Literally came 3 days in a row for the frozen yogurt with olive oil and sea salt and the nice people at the counter also added honey for us each time. Really great for a summer treat. Still thinking about it. Will definitely try the food next time as well! Thank you!!!

Hi! I wanted to share my experience at Saloniki. I went to try their yogurt ice cream and it was really delicious. They also have Dubai chocolate cookies. If you love Dubai chocolate and yogurt ice cream, you definitely need to try it! Service is fast and the ambiance is very nice!!!

Fast and convenient food. I had the hummus and the spicy lamb meatballs, which were not spicy. Everything was decent. Most of the tables weren't cleaned when we tried to find a seat so we had to wipe one down.

Grilled chicken pita 3/2025

Delightful & affordable fast casual option on Newbury Street! The chicken pita is a good option as it comes stuffed with grilled chicken meat, tomato, lettuce, fries, and tzatziki sauce. Service is friendly and quick. The bathroom is clean and spacious. There are sufficient seating for dine in.

Chicken Souvlaki Meal

Stopped here for a quick yet long awaited lunch! I am a die-hard Saloniki connoisseur, as well as a Back Bay frequent flyer, so I was very thrilled to see that a location opened up here! The store is very clean, but a little tight as most dining options are on Newbury St. The service was quick, but the kiosk was a little bit hard to navigate (it was a slightly different interface than other Saloniki locations) and had no option for Apple Pay/card tap, old school. Also, no option for gift rewards using a phone number :( As for food, I went for my regular grilled chicken souvlaki plate, and was super satisfied as usual. The chicken was super flavorful was a tasty sauce coating, the brown rice/pita were pleasant, and the salad was delight and jam packed with feta! The tzatziki and hot sauces were a great compliment to the dish, and brought out all of individual flavors very nicely. I would highly recommend getting these sauces and mixing them. Overall, I'd highly recommend stopping by Saloniki-- it is definitely one of the superior Greek restaurant options on Newbury!

honey cinnamon greek donuts

This review is solely for their greek donuts, which by the way, are delicious! Whenever I'm shopping on Newbury St., I always stop by Saloniki Greek for their greek donuts, specifically the honey & cinnamon. It usually takes around 5-10 minutes for them to be ready. They come out piping hot and are worth every penny!

Decent fast Greek food chain in Boston. Nothing overly special but hits the craving. Wish portions were a tad bigger but still good and filling. The fries are also good! This location has indoor seating, but I took it to go to eat at the public garden.

Crispy chicken pita
Alex L.

One of the best Saloniki I've been to. The staff is very friendly and will bring your food to your table. They try to get to know you as well and are very welcoming. This is a very cozy spot and you can sit by the windows to look outside to Newbury or sit at their cozy booths. If you are a student you can get free fries as long as you show valid ID. For food we had the crispy chicken pita, pork shoulder pita, and fries & feta. Crispy chicken pita: if you want a nice juicy crunch in your pita I suggest picking this on the menu. The chicken was very juicy and flavorful. 9/10 Pork shoulder pita: had mixed feelings about this one. It is very juicy/watery from the pork fat that you need to be careful because the juice will start dripping from the bottom of your wrapper. It is overwhelming with flavor with a slightly sweet spicy kick. 7/10 Fries & feta: always hits the spot when you're craving fries with feta. The fries are very crispy and there is plenty of feta. 9/10

We ordered the meatballs, the souvla of the day and the salad. Everything was so tasty. You can't go wrong with anything here. The table next to us had the huge sampler which was about $240 but was one of every dish on the menu. This is a perfect choice for six to 8 people. Service was super friendly. They left a large bottle of water on the table, which I love. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. Go here! You won't regret it.

The menu refers to these as "Greek cheese bread" but somehow that doesn't do it justice - these were immensely pillowy and cheesy, with an amazing crust, with homemade honey butter on the side. I could have had just these for dinner and been satisfied. They really nailed the bread. My other favorites: 1. Hipiti: spicy whipped feta with crispy potatoes on the side. I don't do well with spice but I absolutely loved this. 2. Marouli: winter lettuce with the most amazing vinaigrette dressing. My only knock to this is, presentation-wise, they serve it with half of the plate empty and the other half with salad. I don't understand why restaurants do this because - one, it only highlights the smaller portion and two, we're just going to mix the salad all around in the bowl anyway. 3. Boudeto: daily catch in a beautiful tomato broth. For a seafood dish at a restaurant in Back Bay, this was priced at a fairly reasonable $28. The only dish that fell a little flat for me was the tzatziki - needed a bit more seasoning. As it was, I was eating mostly just plain yogurt. The table-side preparation was cool, though. The space is its own visual dinner, there's simply a lot to look at (including a drawing of Poseidon riding a surf board). We got the big table in the back, which was a beautiful glass structure with a whole terrarium underneath. We couldn't stop marveling at it throughout the meal. Our waiter was wonderful - very helpful recommendations, came by to check on us often even though we were pretty far in the back, super patient with our questions. Hard to get reservations but worth it! Don't bother driving / trying to find parking unless you're willing to eat a hefty garage fee, it's Back Bay.

The best authentic Greek food in the city!…read more Kava is well known for having incredible food, and it hits every time. It can be hard to get a reservation as you can only book up to 24 hours in advance, but we managed to walk in on a Saturday for lunch as a party of two! Located in a beautiful part of South End with some, but not a ton of street parking, the restaurant has a small space decorated with a "sea" theme with ropes and a big painting of a sailor. The food is the main draw, and the highlight is really authentically Greek dishes. We tried the Pantzaria (baked beets), kolokithakia (zucchini chips), kalamarakia tis skaras (grilled calamari), keftedes (Greek meatballs), and horiatiki (tomato/cucumber/feta salad). The highlights were definitively the zucchini chips which were so crunchy with a yummy dipping sauce or the calamari which were seasoned in this yummy caper oil sauce, or the keftedes which were perfectly cooked. The beets were pretty basic unseasoned beets, but I love beets and really enjoyed this as a low-acid side to the other food. Lastly, we tried the Greek coffee which came in little espresso cups and was soooo good, would highly recommend. We also have a severe anaphylactic nut/peanut allergy and they were easily able to accommodate and so knowledgeable! Overall we had an amazing time and will certainly be back.

Got to head over to Kava for a second round today and try some things I did not get around to last…read moretime, so here are my thoughts: The food REMAINS IMPECCABLE. I was obsessed with the octopus last time and it was once again grilled to perfection with excellent acidity. The zucchini chips were delightful (even as someone who hates zucchini's). The feta psiti was a comfort per usual. What blew me away and I was so excited to try was the lamb chops. They were cooked to perfection, the look was closer to a medium-well (we asked for medium) but the meat was still perfectly juicy and spiced. The mousaka was also lovely, I have only had this dish homemade and it certainly held its own... definitely had a homemade feel with a generous meat portion. The Roka salad was also lovely. As far as drinks go, I enjoyed my aperol spritz and my spicy margarita a lot, I especially like the tsipouro having tried it as a shot the first time, but I think if I were to go again, I might go for wine for a more consistent liquor content. Now let's talk about service. I want to preface that certain things would 1000% be overlooked had we reserved for a busier time, but we went in 15 minutes after opening and by the looks of it, there were more than enough servers for the tables filled in the patio. The first time that I tried Kava, part of the excellent experience was our server. They were such a sweet person who really took the time to bond with us, brought us a round on the house, and just checked on us and made sure we were always doing good. Today really lacked that element. As soon as we sat down, the server informed us that they were out of three small plates, which happens, but not 15 minutes after opening as this was the case. Nonetheless, we were able to order a lot of yummy things, so fine. We then asked if it would be possible to angle the umbrella some way or move to a different table so I would be covered from the scorching sun this afternoon, and our server said "just wait ten minutes, the sun will move behind the building..." I understand that I asked for a patio and obviously you cannot control the sun nor the weather, but I just feel like the situation could be handled a little better -- at least a better response. Then, my dad ordered a beer which was completely warm. We asked for another which was luke warm, so then he just asked for a cocktail instead. The server was kind enough to bring a cold beer on the house later, but again, right at open, you kind of expect things to be in order. Overall, our server was just kind of... there, not super attentive nor pleasant. Another thing, I tried to get around the Resy "day before" policy because the reservations for Sunday opened during my graduation ceremony on Saturday and I wanted to make sure I get my table especially as my parents were catching a flight, so I emailed management in advance per the host's instructions upon calling. We went back and forth rather unnecessarily (with very delayed replies on their part), then I got completely ghosted... Not sure why. I was eventually able to get a table by calling the host after my ceremony on Saturday and they were incredibly accommodating, but they also noted that this was a graduation celebration, yet there was no acknowledgment... I had a graduation dinner last year at a different establishment in Boston and our server went beyond to ensure a great experience and even brought out a hand-written card with our check. These details could really really help the Kava experience in my opinion. Finally, the servers bringing out the dishes were completely confused. Almost every single dish was brought to the wrong table before reaching us and we could see them running around the patio with our order... rather unprofessional. Ultimately, it is the service that leads me to dock a star from my previous rating. Had the food not been as consistently fantastic, I definitely would be docking more.
