View as I was working in a comfy chair by an outlet. They really utilize the space in here to accommodate a large number of people.

This is a great Starbucks! While visiting my friend in Vancouver, I walked here to work one day. While it stayed pretty busy throughout the day, I was able to find a spot to work - first outside looking toward the bay; then inside in a cushy chair by an outlet; and finally, at a table looking out toward the street. Each spot was great for working, and for people (and dog) watching as well! WiFi worked great, though there had to be many people on it. I had breakfast (pepper and egg white bites and a black tea with splash of almond milk - both great!) and then lunch (vegetarian salad) over the hours I was there. Everything looked and tasted great! They even have a water container off to the side of the barista bar so you can grab some water as needed while you're there. Kudos for that! The bathroom was clean, the staff I interacted with were great, and I'll definitely revisit this location when I'm in Vancouver! Updated to add: the friendliness of the baristas bumped this location up to 5 stars for me. They're the best Starbucks team I've ever interacted with... and I've been here at least 3-4 times in the last week. Bravo, team!

Funny and happy baristas. They are fast in taking orders and making the coffee. If it's wrong they don't mind changing it. They know the regulars by names and I never saw any of them with a bad attitude. This maybe the busiest Starbucks I've seen in Van City but hey it's right there smack in the happening area. It maybe hard to find seats but you can just kick it across the street at the little park or beach..

I love my coffees. I admit starbucks often taste burned but I add enough cinnamon and cream and all is good!

My neighbourhood coffee shop. The staff are friendly even when it's busy - I've seen 20 people in line on the weekends but you always know what you're getting and it has a great view of English Bay. Could use better (ie more comfy) seating but I guess they need room for the lineups!!

Being a former Starbucks Manager myself, it's very easy to be critical of cafes and how things are done. This Starbucks completely gets it right. I have been 3 times in the last month, and every time the staff have been courteous at the very least. They are friendly and willing to chat if you start up a conversation. The manager does a great job of ensuring a high quality standard of cleanliness and ensuring that tasks are done to the highest standard. While some people may believe Starbucks is all the same, in my opinion, good people, like the ones in this store, make this Starbucks stand out. I will being coming back, and I would recommend.

I am trying to show that you can see the Water from the view on the corner seat.

This one wins. Can you think of a better location? I sat right by the window and this was my view :) yay!

Dough was very buttery and crispy. I could taste strong butter flavor which stood out. Passionfruit jam dominated over hazelnut cream. It lean on sweeter side. I prefer more hazelnut cream. However, the croissant itself was one of the best. Very delicious. Holiday Chocolate Kugelhopf~ dark chocolate sweet bread studded with chocolate chips, citrus peels, and almond praline, rolled in sugar. I really liked kugelhoph's dough and almond praline! It wasn't too heavy, lighter texture and praline wasn't too sweet. So, sugar coating paired with dough very well. I would like to get this one again! Overall, I really enjoyed both Christmas items. I am writing this review because my email to them went unanswered…read more I am shocked and disappointed at the way I was treated after spending $40. I am a HUGE 49th fan and love their dougnuts and coffee. Whenever I have friends in town, or someone needs a suggestion on where to visit, I always say "49th has really good coffee and doughnuts". Unfortunately, my mind has changed, and I don't see myself ever recommending this location. As an avid coffee drinker, I am pretty picky on where I choose to have coffee and love the cafe culture in Vancouver. My mom loves doughnuts and we had come all the way from Langley for a day in Kits, so I recommended we go to 49th! I spent about $40 on 4 doughnuts, 2 maple sea salt lattes and a drip coffee. The maple sea salt lattes looked beautiful and my doughnut was delicious as usual (big fan of the french crueller). Unfortunately, our maple sea salt lattes were very very strong and had no maple or sea salt flavoring in my opinion. I decided to ask the girl at the register if we could please get a different drink because it was super strong and didn't taste good. I was met with SO much attitude, i was actually shocked. I went into it very friendly and politely asked for an alternate drink as i did spend $12 on these two drinks (and life gets expensive!!). She then goes "well, you probably don't like the taste of coffee then".... I actually didn't know how to respond. But i did say "I'm a huge 49th fan and love coffee!". Then I had asked how many shots are in the small and she said "2". I then had asked if we could get a new/different drink and she goes "I'll give it to you this one time, but next time you'll have to pay." This is NOT the way to treat a paying customer. It felt so rude and accusatory. I very rarely come to Kits, so she wouldn't have recognized me and am an honest girl who works hard for my money. When the customer comes up politely, you offer to make it right. I hope the next person that comes up not satisfied with their drink is treated a lot better than how I was.

Unfortunately, it was not the same. I was glad to see the same amazing pastries and tarts and sandwiches, all fresh and beautifully displayed in the display case. I ordered a croissant and it was superb as usual. I also ordered one of thier baguettes to bring home. My kid and I think SV has the best baguettes in the city. They are crusty on the outside, soft yet chewy inside, and just consistently perfect. This one was as good as all the others we've had from here. Yeah! I wanted an Earl Grey tea which IMO is a pretty basic order. Surprisingly, they did not have it. I got a green tea instead (their tea selection was very limited). And the girl who took my order, as well as the girl who rang me up at the cash, could NOT have been more aloof. I smiled and tried to make a little small talk, especially with the girl at the cash when I took out my debit card and asked how to pay (she just pointed at the tap symbol on the machine but my card is not tap-enabled. I always joke with people about this). This girl would not even look at me. Zero eye contact. No "thank you", nada. I just got really cold vibes from the two of them there at the counter. (At least when I picked up my tea at the beverage counter, the guy there made eye contact and semi smiled). (Side note: the staff at the Yaletown site have always been super pleasant and friendly, and this really makes a difference. To me, anyhow). Contrary to another reviewer's posting, the restaurant and the washroom was very clean when I visited here. No issues there. Honestly, I'm not sure I'll return to this site. There are so many cafes and bakeries around, I'd rather go to one with a warmer vibe. Or stay with my Yaletown SV.
