Every time I place a mobile order, my iced coffee dribks are NEVER READY 10-15 minutes later. I always must wait for the employee to stop serving the drive thru and make my drink(s). The whole point of mobile order is convenience, plus, I've ALREADY paid for drink so mobile orders should take priority over drive-thru. THE STORE OWNER NEEDS TO HIRE A SECOND EMPLOYEE. I think I have been to about 3 different Starbucks in Simi on my weekly day that I work in Simi. I visited during the lunch hour. I visited the restroom first. It was clean. Then I ordered an iced green tea. Necessary for this summer heat while driving around the city. My tea was made pretty quickly and I was on my way. My only complaint is if you have never been here before and you look at the outside of the building, it makes you think this might be a drive-thru only. The only sign on the outside is to the left of it where the drive-thru is and says "Starbucks Drive-thru". And the main door to enter into the shop is not obvious and even looks like it could be part of the Nutrishop next door. read more

It was my first coffee since they lowered the prices to $3.50 for a standard brewed coffee. I haven't gone in more than a month. I was going to reload my card too, because I thought $5 on my app wouldn't be enough. So $3.50 was a pleasant surprise, until I tasted my coffee. It was stale, it was bitter, it tasted like the machine hasn't been cleaned out properly in a year. It's really unfortunate to say I would prefer my coffee from seven eleven- I would prefer it from a local donut shop- I would rather make my coffee at home. Very sad to report this as I was a daily Starbucks drinker since the early 2000 when they were barely getting started. When they had comfy sofas to rest in. When they were appealing. When they didn't attack their employees for trying to start a union. I'd prefer a locally owned coffee place. read more

I'm not usually a huge fan of the massive corporate vibe that Starbucks tends to exude, but this visit was unexpectedly memorable--thanks in large part to Gus. Usually, when I walk into a Starbucks, I feel like just another customer in a chain, but Gus made the experience feel personal and genuine. His friendly demeanor and willingness to chat put me at ease, making me feel less like I was being processed as just another number. And you could tell the influence the elder Gus had on the rest of the team who he was working under. The rest of the staff were kind when talking to them, mostly. That said, the atmosphere wasn't all perfect. The ambient music was way too loud--it completely overpowered the tunes I had queued up in my headphones. It was kind of distracting, though oddly enough, the cacophony added its own sort of energy to the environment. I ended up writing a decent piece of my writing project, and despite the noise, or maybe because of it, the whole sensory experience really worked for me. Overall, while I still carry a bit of skepticism about the big enterprise feel of Starbucks, the personal touch from folks like Gus elevated the experience. I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars--definitely a place to consider if you're looking for a vibrant coffee joint, a bit noisy, spot to work and to get some genuine good will. read more

Wow! To say I have been inside about 100 different Starbucks in the United States, would probably be an understatement. The staff in this location is hands-down, the friendliest I have ever experienced! They are attentive, welcoming, and certainly accommodating. The restaurant was clean and put together, they had an exceptional selection of tumblers, which I am an avid collector of, and my drink and food was made quickly and correctly. Just another good neighborhood Starbucks! I live close by, and frequent this Starbucks location quite often. They are located in a fairly busy complex, but parking has never been an issue for me. The inside of the business is pretty clean, and there are usually empty seats available if you are looking to do some work inside, which is always a big plus for me! Drive through is typically quick and efficient. If I had to bring up one complaint, it's that they seem to run out of certain food items quite often, especially later in the day. I tried to order two of my favorite items the other day, only to find out that they only had the Tomato & Mozzarella sandwich left. Starbucks likes suburbia. There are now close to 30 locations in Simi Valley / Thousand Oaks / Moorpark / Newbury Park in Eastern Ventura County. This location on First Street is just okay. Not one of our favorite locations. We prefer it for drive-thru to going inside, but thanks to the lack of a part for our car's power window (waiting for MONTHS!), using drive-thru is problematic. We stopped by on a Sunday early evening. There weren't many guests in the dining room area. Apparently, drive-thru must have been busy, as it took a long time for our order to be prepared. Kudos to the cashier, who was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Otherwise, the length of time to get the order, coupled with overly loud music, didn't extend the welcome. I love music, and I'm not an older person ready to complain about volume, but if I were there trying to study or get work done, I wouldn't have been very successful in being able to concentrate. Am not used to that kind of sound level in any 'bucks; I think of them as more of an acoustic jazz kind of place. I didn't mind the song selections, just would have liked a more conducive noise level to be able to make conversation with Dear Hubby. As a result, once we got our order, we didn't linger very long. As we weren't anxious to go home yet, that was a shame. They made my drink differently than I am used to, so that was a small factor. It seemed like it was missing an ingredient or two. The food is inconsistent. Some days ok, some days awful. The service is slow and the quality is generally low. If you spend 6 on a drink and another $1.25 to add some cold foam, you expect some foam, but you get is a few bubbles if lucky, and nothing if not lucky. All Starbucks suffer from incredibly inconsistent prep. They never read the directions and serve you whatever they want. The prices keep going up and the quality goes down and the lines get longer. For $20 an hour, get some better people to make your overpriced drinks more consistent. You've pushed me to a stupid Nespresso machine, which ain't cheap, but at least it is consistent and 1/3 the price. Cmon Starbucks, up your game at the same pace you've upped your prices. Ambience is ok but not very comfortable. But what do you expect in the age of everyone can visit for ever even if you don't buy stuff. read more

I don't usually like to come on here and leave negative reviews, but this is the second time I've had this situation recently - both involving the same employee. Placed a mobile order at 5:15am, knowing that the store was supposed to open at 5am (yes, even on Thanksgiving). I show up, no one there. I waited at the window a few minutes thinking maybe it's just one employee and they're in the back or something. Nope. Next thing, one of their staff shows up in the parking lot and the following conversation ensues: Employee: We're not open yet! Me: Why not? E: We don't open until 6 Me: Well I've already paid for my order and your hours say 5. There's even a sign on the drive thru speaker E: Well, it's Thanksgiving Me: Yes, your sign on the speaker says Holiday Hours for Thanksgiving 5am - 4pm He just looked at me like I was an idiot for, you know, following posted store hours. Second time he's done this, acting like I'm there too early when I'm there after their posted hours. I get that people sleep in or forget to set an alarm, but to treat me like it's my fault is totally unacceptable. I work in customer service, and that is horrible customer service. Luckily, I drove to the Simi Town Center location, and the gentleman there was more than helpful. Got my order taken care of, apologized for the other guy's behavior, and told me it's not the first time he's heard this about that location. I stopped by here this morning to pick up my Hot Chocolate and plain bagel. I put my order online and went straight to their drive thru to pickup my order. I thought the drive thru was only open at 5am but I saw when they give me my order that some people were inside. My order was ready by the time I got to the drive thru window, it only took me about 4 minutes to get to the store. My hot chocolate was not the best, it tasted like there was more water than chocolate powder. It also looks like there was some spill on the cup or overfill. The bagel was good like always but I would've hope that my hot chocolate would've been good as well. read more

It's over between me and First and LA... This is easily the 5th or 6th time this year that I'm leaving this Starbucks with incorrectly made drinks in my hands. To make things worse, I've only come to this Starbucks 7 or 8 times... That says something, doesn't it? I talk slow knowing the reputation that this store has to no avail. Employees repeat my drink back multiple times, not sure what purpose this serves because they make it wrong anyway. Today I TRIED to order a WHITE hot chocolate and an iced coffee, black, with a splash of oat milk. The sticker on my cold brew said almond milk. I'm just not sure how this happens, the kicker? The guy at the box taking my order said "Did you say half and half?"... No. I said oat milk. I guess he took matters into his own hands to mix things up with almond milk. I've been to this starbucks several times and have ordered both through the drive thru and in person through mobile ordering. The drive thru is really dependent on how many cars are in line as I've waited 15 mins before like other reviews, BUT I believe this is expected if it's busy! I typically go for mobile ordering and my drinks always come out quick and as exactly I ordered. I'm addicted to dirty chai lattes and always order one here, I always request for either oat or coconut milk and have always received the right milk! I waited almost 30 minutes in the car line . I ordered a doppio con panna, on their menu and is two shots of espresso with whipped cream on top, hence con panna meaning with cream. As I pulled away from the window I opened my doppio con panna to find NO PANNA which I'd half the drink for me . When I walked back to the window I was told I had to get back in line and wait another 20 to 30 minutes just to have my coffee prepared properly as it's listed on all their menus for years. The manager at this location is a total bitch and should be sweeping up a back room somewhere. I tossed my half made coffee at them too bad it didn't get inside the window. It was busy at 10 am on a Saturday morning, but I waited 20 minutes to get a grande chai tea and a cup of water. The water came within 5 minutes but the chai tea (it wasn't a chai tea latte, it was just a cup of hot water with 2 tea bags) took 20 minutes! When I asked the barista to check on my tea order, she said that someone must have taken it because she didn't see my order, however I never heard my name called or saw my order placed on the counter. A minute later she said that someone was working on it. It turned out that the cashier must have forgotten to make it. It seems like the wait for orders inside (vs. the drive thru) is always much longer but this was an extremely long wait. I don't know why I keep going there, but for sure it's the last time. Today I ordered my regular coffee frapp the guy repeated the order and I confirmed it. I pay drive off & what do I get a caramel frapp. It's the 3rd this month it's happened. I finally decided to call, whoever answered the phone I told them the issue & that the employees really need to pay attention. Her response was " oh no" she said she will speak to the employees. not the greatest place for sitting and studying, if that's usually the reason you go to starbucks. staff are all super nice but the music is ALWAYS blasting so loudly sometimes you have to raise your voice so the barista taking your order can hear you, and the music itself isn't really even good. i don't know if it's the baristas' personal playlists or what but the music choice is always crap so that definitely puts a damper on the experience whenever i'm here. also the people who come through here are usually obnoxious and/or rude, which i know isn't starbucks' fault obviously, it's just the fact that the local community is full of a-holes. more about this particular starbucks though, they're often out of stock of high-demand stuff for several days at a time which sucks but again, i know it's not the employees' fault. it's just distribution and shortage stuff, which is understandable, just unfortunate. read more
