The inside dining area is pretty basic -- just tables and chairs with no real décor -- but that's fine for a breakfast spot. What really surprised me was the cost. We each ordered a standard egg breakfast with coffee, and the total came to about $50 with tip. I know prices have gone up everywhere, but $50 for two simple breakfasts definitely gave me pause. The portions were average, and the food itself was okay, nothing memorable. It wasn't a bad meal, just not one we'd return for at that price point. Not terrible, but not worth $50. read more

My hubby brought me in for breakfast. My husband had the All in one and I had the buttermilk Sando. It was absolutely delicious. I had a regular drip coffee and my husband had a cappuccino. We ordered and sat outside at the tables. The staff were super nice and very friendly. They brought us out our coffee first and then our food very quickly after. We will absolutely be back. It was a wonderful experience. We went home with a loaf of sourdough bread. All I can say is WOW. It is soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. This Bakery and breakfast/lunch place has a quiet location on Cochran Street, in Simi Valley. Walking in, one is breathing the inviting air and fragrance of freshly baked breads. Yes, they have full loaves for sale. The dining area is a small space, yet warm. I came here expecting to find a significant selection of small baked goods (as per internet photos), instead, there was a very meager display case of a few items. I chose, the small raspberry pistachio bar (almost $5 with tax). While it had a comfortable bite mixed with softness and crisp, it was overwhelmed by the acidity of the raspberry filling. There was no pistachio taste to decipher, except for my last bite which had a small crumb of pistachio. Excellent overall! I came for the gluten-free pastries but left with a full stomach after enjoying an awesome breakfast sandwich. Their gluten-free banana bread is delicious and perfect. The sourdough bread is among the best I've had in a long time! My only regret is not trying their coffee. I didn't expect to find this place so I had my home made brew with me. I'm looking forward to trying it next time I come. At the time of my visit they offered three options of GF pastries, which is more than I'm used to seeing. I ate the banana bread and took a GF coffee muffin to try later. I hope this place stays here for good. I wish I would've found it sooner. read more

At last I have made it this restaurant: it's been on my list for awhile! I always like to support local restaurants in Simi Valley! And this restaurant is worth stopping in! And the amount of guest pouring in on a weekday morning shows that this is the place to dine in! The pastries are amazing and oh so fresh. Also they have some really unique pastries. Plus you can get breakfast and lunch here. On the breakfast menu, they have beautiful and yummy omelets that are made perfectly. The omelettes come with a little salad on the plate. The lunch menu consist of an array of sandwiches. All look so good so you can't go around. In addition the restaurant has solid hot and cold drinks. At this establishment you do order at the counter. They will bring the food to you. The restaurant does get busy and seating is limited: inside the restaurant there is a communal and an about three or four small tables. Plus there are some tables on the sidewalk! This place is definitely worth visiting. read more

My gf and I went to The Baker's Daughters for the first time and felt the food was underwhelming and overpriced. Two entrees, two iced coffees, and two pastries was $64. My gf got the Avocado Toast and the only standout was the bread. Everything else about the dish could easily be recreated at home, if not, better and it wouldn't cost $16. I got the Croque Madame and enjoyed my food. The bread was great and there's plenty of melted cheese. My problem is the amount of ham inside. It literally only comes with one slice. Seriously? An $18 entree that doesn't include sides or a drink and there's a single slice of deli meat inside? The coffee wasn't too expensive and tasted pretty good, but when you have a direct view of McKenna Koffee, it's easy to feel disappointed. I should've learned my lesson, but I didn't want to give up on the restaurant, so I got back in line to try their pastries. Unfortunately, it was the same story. I got the Caramel Espresso Brownie and Almond Orange Cake. The brownie was hard and crumbly. The cake tasted okay, but was small and unremarkable for $5. Love their sourdough and focaccia sooo much! I make my own sourdough but sometimes I get lazy and would rather just buy it. So I love that I can get the same fresh, homemade taste just down the street at the baker's daughter! The 'sour' taste is very noticeable in both the focaccia and sourdough, which I love. I also come here for their breakfast sandwiches. My favorite is the croque monsieur because I love Dijon mustard. Service is good and the atmosphere is nice. Great food and great service! My family was in town staying at the hotel next-door for my wedding. Myself, my friends and family ate here almost every day! Great service, great food for a good price, and very conveniently placed in a shopping center. Free parking is always a plus! We even brought home some fresh bread and froze the lopes we were not able to eat on time, but they still heat up really well when frozen and last a very long time! so yum! Came here for breakfast. It was delicious. We got the prosciutto and ricotta on sourdough. The balsamic and pesto drizzled pulled it all together. The pastries. I got roped into buying two and will probably come back for more tomorrow. The orange and chocolate tart and the pistachio cookie. I didn't expect the tart to be so soft in the middle so that was surprising but none the less was delicious. The cookie was subtle and was good with the coffee. Omg. Their bread. It is so tasty! So soft, great chew, and super fresh and delicious! I would come back just for the bread!!! I got the second item on the menu, the $16 buttermilk breakfast sandwich which was served fresh, warm, and comfy-filling while not making me over full. It was perfect for me, but I know some people might need more than just the sandwich. I also got their cold brew which was...ok? I got oat milk and vanilla added to it, so I think I'll try it without the vanilla next time to be able to taste the cold brew better. Well staffed, and they all look busy, constantly in motion. I'm really not sure how many stars to give this place. I can only comment upon their baked goods as that is all we have tried. More specifically, we have tried their chocolate chip cookies, a slice of banana bread, and a slice of their lemon cake. They have some strong plusses, but they also have some minuses. For instance, their chocolate chip cookies... the texture is perfection. An ever so slight crunch around the edges, while the inside/center of the cookie is melt-in-your-mouth soft. Doesn't get any better than that. HOWEVER, they are missing something in the flavor, and I think it's a lack of salt, and IF there IS any salt, it's missing enough that my sensitive palate can't taste it. Simply put, it needs more otherwise this cookie will continue to fall flat in the flavor dept. As for the banana bread and lemon cake, I think it's the same issue. The flavors needed to "POP," which they didn't. A pinch of salt goes a long way. The banana bread texture was a bit heavy, and so was the lemon cake, but that didn't really bother me as much as the flavor did. We actually bought their cookies on two different occasions, trying to give them another chance... but my above assessment remains. Sorry. I wanted to like this place more than I did. read more

Baker's Daughter was an easy 5-star breakfast for us. The kids ordered the standard breakfast, and it was clear the kitchen understands Gen Alpha taste--simple, familiar, and done right. The combo of eggs, bacon, and a well-portioned serving of fresh avocado slices was spot on. They turned everything into breakfast sandwiches on the sourdough and finished every last bite. I ordered the mushroom omelette and ended up putting it on the sourdough as well. It was nicely spiced, balanced, and paired perfectly with the bread. The matcha latte was also very good--smooth, clean, and clearly made with quality green tea powder. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but for the quality of the ingredients and how well everything was executed, it felt worth it. A place we'd happily come back to. read more

Stopped by for a quick bite. Enjoyed the Mache Latte, an orange roll and the Buttermilk Sando, without the bacon. The Sando was pretty good, eggs were soft and fluffy. We asked if the orange roll could be warmed in the oven and they did a great job heating it up. Seems better to have a warmed roll rather than just room temperature treat. The restaurant features a walk up counter to order. A large oven is prominent just behind the counter. The cook's kitchen is a bit out of sight. Water crock is up front to serve yourself. Bus your own dishes in the yellow bins. They do bring your food out to your table though. Parking is in a small strip mall area just off the 118 freeway. read more

The food is tasty but on average a sandwich is $15+ Like any decent cafe they serve coffee & tea, but what stands out is the Brazilian matte option and limeade... my favorite "ade". The service is always helpful and patient. I've witnessed plenty of new people come in with no idea what they want and ask a lot of questions about the menu. Cute cafe/bakery/restaurant combo type of place that could easily be in LA with how the aesthetics of the interior are. The people are always friendly and the drinks and food are solid. This time I got a matcha with lavender syrup and the porkalicious sandwich (the name is both awful and amazing lol). This food item is probably the best thing I've tried here by far with the pulled pork having great texture and flavor plus the pickled veg and guava sauce are perfection. I really like having cute local places like this. Not a pro or con just informational: this is not really a read/work type of cafe, there's no wifi. I was working on my iPad but I have a hotspot so I was fine and here during a slower time so wasn't worried about me taking up a table. read more

Small little spot tucked away in a plaza. Definitely a clean, minimalistic vibe. Some outdoor seating. We ordered the turkey BLT, Tuna Sando and the All in One. Brinks we had a Vietnamese latte (hot), iced Vietnamese coffee and a chai tea latte. You order at the cashier, no fuss type of deal. Turkey BLT 10/10: The turkey tasted fresh, the aioli was delicious and added a nice citrus flavor. Tuna 9/10: The tuna was fresh and delicious. It had cucumbers, tomatoes and a spring mix. All in one 9/10: Eggs (how u like), fresh avocado, sourdough bread and my goodness the BACON. I don't know what it was but the bacon was absolutely delicious. Chai iced latte 9/10: clean, fresh and doesn't have that fake syrup taste. Vietnamese iced coffee: This was my first time having it and it was very good. I can't rate it bcuz I have no comparison. It was strong light due to it being made w water. Vietnamese hot latte: my mom really enjoyed it. Not able to compare this one as well. Croissants were flakey and buttery. We had a plain croissant and a White chocolate w walnuts which was delicious. I would of preferred it warmed but it was still delicious 8/10. They bring the food to your table but you clear your own table and plates. All in all everything was delicious. My favorite and notable remarks is the sourdough bread 10/10 which is baked there. It's soft but w a hard crust. Yet it's thin enough to not have too much to bite into. The bacon was soooo flipping good. It wasn't overly salty or greasy. It was cooked to perfection 10/10. I find it completely unreasonable to pay $15 for 2 slices of very boring French toast and $16 for a cheeseburger à la carte. Ambience was boring, table wasn't clean, and above all. The coffee was refreshingly perfect and it even had a citrus flavor to it. The cookie almost had like a salted caramel-like taste to it. I really enjoyed both items. I came here this morning for breakfast. We ordered the Croque Madame, Vietnamese coffee, and two cookies (chocolate chip and PB & jelly). The Croque Madame was pretty good. It was slightly dry from what I'm used to and a little strong on the Dijon mustard. However, it was still good. The Vietnamese coffee wasn't as strong as I'd hoped for. And it was definitely a lot sweeter than most Vietnamese coffees I've had. The cookies were very good. The PB&J one was my favorite. Service was good considering how busy they were. Place looked clean. I would still come back and try other things on their menu. read more

Came this morning for some coffee and breakfast, and what a treat! The place was packed! We ordered the Buttermilk Breakfast sandwich, Cinnamon bun, Cruffin, Oatmilk latte and a drip! The Cinnamon bun was my favorite! The maple cream they place on top was delicious, not too much, just enough! The Buttermilk breakfast sandwich was very good, eggs were cooked perfectly scrambled to give it that soft and silky texture, grilled to the perfect crunch. The Cruffin was very tasty, crispy and light with just enough blueberry preserve for that added sweetness. The Oatmilk latte had just enough sweetness to let the Oatmilk standout. We have ordered their delicious sourdough bread numerous times, and if they have the Olive sourdough, make sure to grab it before it's gone! Very popular! The cafe had some tables with both bench seating and chairs, as well as a few tables outside. The staff and service has always been great, super helpful and welcoming. I am a lover of baked bread. I stopped by this bakery to purchase a couple of loaves today for the first time. One of my loaves was buttermilk, and I had requested to have it sliced to use as sandwich bread. I was told by the sales person that they are unable to slice bread with their slicer machine (beautifully on display just to the side of the cash register) because it is too loud during the Cafe open hours. At that moment, there were two customers enjoying their lunch. Now, mind you, I buy a LOT of bread. I am very familiar with the very machine that they use to slice. I'm also familiar that the time needed to slice through a lovely soft and delicious loaf of buttermilk bread is about three seconds. I am very disappointed that they were unable to do something like this, I found it to be distractingly odd. read more

I was visiting a friend in Simi Valley and stopped by The Baker's Daughter--such a great find! The ambience is beautiful, warm, and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax over good food and coffee. They're known for their bakery and sourdough bread, and I can see why--it was honestly one of the best I've had. We ordered a Lavender Latte and a Regular Latte, both perfectly made and so smooth. For food, we had the Pão de Queijo, which was light, cheesy, and delicious, and the Secret Egg Sandwich with a parmesan crisp, which took it to the next level. On top of the amazing food, the service was great--friendly, attentive, and welcoming. You can tell they really care about the experience. Everything was fresh and full of flavor.
