Delicious cakes! The blueberry yogurt and mixed berry soft cream cakes are amazingly light and not too sweet. My dad is super picky with desserts and even had two slices! The service could definitely improve, whether that means better staff training or stronger management. I'm leaving 5 stars for now, though, to give the team a fair chance since this location is brand new. read more

This is a neat place to visit. When you walk in you grab a tray and tongs and you walk around the bread and pastry displays and pick up what you want. There's a cooler with some pre-made sandwiches, and the like, which can be heated up by the staff after you purchase them. Korean Iced Milk Coffee Not sure which iced coffee to order, the person behind the register suggested this one and I'm glad he did. This is a semi sweet coffee served with milk and half and half. It was perfect - not too sweet and not bitter at all. I enjoyed this one! Turkey Melt This was a really tasty turkey, bacon and cheese sandwich on sourdough. The sandwich is stored in their pre-made cooler and you pick it up and bring it to the register where they will warm it up for you. The sourdough was delicious, turkey, bacon and cheese is probably what you'd expect. Boursin® Garlic Cheese Quiche A delicious quiche and very garlicky. The exterior was a nice flakey consistency while the interior was the garlicky egg with tomato and red pepper. This was a delight and I wouldn't hesitate to get this again. Peanut Crumb Bread A sweet bread topped with peanut crumbs. The bread was soft and just sweetened enough. The peanut crumbs gave it a really nice flavor, almost a buttery peanut butter flavor but without the peanut butter. This was a very enjoyable treat. Their pastries were really good but expensive for its size. The cake slices were around $8 as the cakes were $40 something . We came here for our free pastries and then some. Nice and clean. They need more cashiers though as they also make the drinks which hold up the line. read more

They are really new, and it shows. Everyone seems excited to have Paris Baguette come here to the Conejo Valley, and I believe that they should be successful. However, I would urge that their management team step up and pay more attention to detail, as there's as much lacking as there is to celebrate. We first stopped in last Friday evening, in their very first week of opening. The cases were all picked over. It looked like the end of a very long day for the cafe. Dear Hubby and I took a stroll around, and finding nothing of interest left to purchase, walked back to our car and left. We understood that they were hit hard with guests devouring their wares, and the newness was really pushing them to the brink. We returned today about 5 PM. While they had racks of freshly baked items waiting to go out to re-stock the shelves, they were still in the cooling racks and not out for sale. The actual stock shelves were bare in more than half the spaces. Again, I'm sure they had a busy day, but they had four more hours to be open, and it becomes "What's the point?" if you don't have enough interesting baked goods to sell during dinner time and beyond? I expect that it will take time to understand how much to bake each day for the anticipated sales. Will give them a semi-pass for now on that aspect. As for ambiance, I'm not really impressed. It's very bland, and lacking in any cuteness to add charm. They seem to have a lot of staff members, but no one appears to be in charge of straightening up the dining room and patio. The bistro tables have heavy metal bases, which suggest a French influence. The problem with them is that they don't allow for orderly replacement of the bistro-style chairs back under the table. The bases themselves interfere with pushing in the chairs. That leaves both the dining room and patio areas looking haphazard and uncared for, which isn't a great look for a new place. Still, one or more team members ought to be assigned to circulating through the dining spaces to straighten the chairs and clean the tabletops. That would make a more appealing environment as new guests arrive to dine. It's a shame that they didn't figure out in their budget how to allow for at least a small amount of decor on the tables. Small metal containers with real or faux succulents would be nice. Or small glass vases with either real or faux tiny flowers would add some instant atmospheric brightening. The cafe seems utilitarian and uninspired, aside from the bright blue and white signage. Dear Hubby and I sat out on the patio on a warm early evening. The floor area was heavily littered with a mix of dry sycamore leaves and plentiful amounts of discarded napkins and even cupcake wrappers. That wasn't a very appealing site. Back to taking care of the environment - is anyone assigned to sweep up outside, or are they just leaving the mess to the end of the day? It can be breezy outside, which makes napkins fly. By not having any table decor to hold napkins down, all the more reason they are sailing around and not staying put. And speaking of trash - there are zero trash cans outside to dispose of whatever needs to be tossed after eating. Hoping that's just an oversight at this point? A lot of these comments might seem picky, but it's part of an overall first impression that made us feel like they have a ways to go to get their act together. At the prices they charge for many of their items for essentially a self-serve cafeteria kind of place, they could use a plan to step up their game. There are other similar kind of bakery cafes in the general area where you can have the same sort of experience, but pay a lot less at the cash register. I will say that several of the baked goods we tried were very delicious. Made me wonder how many pounds of butter they go through a day to make the croissants and pastries? Must be a significant amount. I can tolerate cows' milk dairy butter in pastries, but I strenuously try to avoid cheese, as it doesn't agree with my dry eye condition. Many, many of the most interesting looking savory pastries and sandwiches they offer have dairy cheese in them, so no luck for me there. The salmon and Boursin cheese sandwich looked especially delicious. One last note - the cake slices, while looking like little works of pastry art, are quite expensive for a self-serve bakery setting. The full cakes are like an investment at the cost of pushing $50. We wish them well, but DH and I think we will be exploring other venues that have better ambiance and lower prices for similar quality. read more

This location is spacious with a minimalist decor. I came in around 2. Still plenty of breads and it smells amazing. The gurl that helped me was great too. Friendly. However I must say.. for this visit in this location, breads are mostly too well done. Hard on the outside. Darker color, dryer, chewy and smells great. Either stay in the oven too long, not enough worker to manage it or simply oven temp too high. read more

I've been to Paris Baguettes in Texas, so my expectations for a California version were quite high. Unfortunately, for my first visit, it was just an average visit. The bakery has lots of seating indoor and outdoor and shares a busy parking lot with Whole Foods. But the selections were very limited on a busy Friday afternoon and their pasties could have been restocked for a better customer experience. The staff were working hard and keeping the bakery clean, but there were quite a number of empty shelves for baked goods. The quality is very good and is not comparable to 85 Degrees because the selection is so different. The cost is higher but it's because they use quality ingredients. I will give it another try to see if they offer more sweet and savory baked goods in the near future. read more

I'm so glad they opened near by, because I absolutely love light and not-too sweet pastries. It's just my preference, and Paris Baguette has pastries and cakes that are delicate and delicious. I usually get the yogurt cake, but this location had the chiffon blueberry cake, which actually made my mood a bit better that day. It was sooo good!! Perfect 10/10 ~ I'll be getting this for any bdays and holidays coming up, and in between throughout the year. lol...love chiffon! I also had the fruit tart pastry that had pieces of fruits, and the chunk of an orange slice was a perfect bite of refreshing goodness w their yummy custard. Their cream puffs are also very good, I did not see them there at the time though. Anyway, these are the ones I liked most and highly recommend. ***One more thing! I had bought two different types of sliced breads here, and there's a big difference between the milk bread (square shape), and cream bread, (rounded top). A fun new addition to the area! Stopped by on Saturday on opening weekend and the line was wrapped out the door, but moved quickly. Once inside, you pick up a tray and tongs to grab whichever pastries you like. There's a lot to choose from and they're constantly refilling the cases. Our favorites were the croissant donut and the coffee bread, but the sweet potato pastry and croissant were good options too. The only one I'd pass on for future was the mochi donut. There's also sandwiches and salads in the cold case and a wide selection of full size cakes. Our cashier Kelle was lovely and got us checked out quickly. There's spots inside and out to enjoy your meal or they'll pack it in a nice box to take home. read more

Was really excited to have Paris Baguette close to home and wanted to try it, headed over today around noonish and the line was at the door weaving around the display cases and gondolas (which most were empty)to the one and only register. Most everything was gone or picked over and it was t even 1:00pm. Wanted to try something but waiting in the checkout line I was afraid anything I picked out would go stale before I paid for it. Not impressed with this visit, empty cases with long li es at one register did not make a good impression. Will let the "newness" wear off and hope that it's all that it is supposed to be. How lucky are we to have a local specialty bakery in Thousand Oaks?! We loved our experience at Paris Baguette and were especially impressed by the friendly customer service and beautiful cake selection. My kids had so much fun browsing the pastry cases and picking out their perfect treats ... it made the visit feel like a special outing rather than just a bakery stop. Ordered a cake from them two weeks in advance for a birthday. Come day of the birthday I go to pick up the cake, and they don't have it. Said they don't know why it wasn't made, but it just wasn't. Yayy! so happy to have a Paris Baguette now close to home. ordered a variety of pastries and iced americano. they were out of cold brew and another specialty coffee on a Monday morning. service was excellent, the cashier was very welcoming. we took our pastries home and while tasty, they weren't as good as other locations i've been to. nonetheless, i'll definitely return as maybe it had to do with being so close to their grand opening. they were very busy! read more

So my daughter ordered a birthday cake as a surprise for me a week ahead. Day of, they realized the cashier never put the order in so it wasn't ready. They said come back later that day. Still not ready. No one knew what was going on. Very poorly managed. Told her to come back again. Third attempt and the cake was still warm and slid apart! Back again. This time, all they could do was give her a cake she didn't order as a substitute and were so stingy they only offered a discount on a future order! I was really looking forward to this shop opening. Unfortunately, I was sadly disappointed. First time going today and we arrived at 10:30 only to find that they've already ran out of items and had no plans to restock. Both trash areas remained overflowing for the entire time we were there (1hr or so) and the side patio door was open for 20 mins even though employees who were on break walked back and forth. I know that it's only been open for several weeks but if you have a good manager and training then I would expect that items of high demand are kept stocked - especially when you still have the rest of the day left. Keep up with trash receptacles, and watch that doors closed as there are fresh parties sitting out in the open uncovered. There were 7-10 staff members just in the front alone so to keep up and these small things would make such a difference. read more

It's new so not going to be overly critical. Tried it for the first time this weekend and here it is... You walk in and they have tongs and a tray for you to grab items you want. The large display cases and refrigerator sections have a bunch of different things - pastries, donuts, sandwiches. You pick them yourself and pay at the counter. EVERYTHING in pre-made. It doesn't look like any of it is really made from scratch. My guess is par-baked and finished in house. And it tastes like it. Simple concept. Here's where it's odd. They don't make food to order. Only the coffee drinks, smoothies, etc. So, if they don't have the sandwich you want, you're out of luck. Also weird navigating in between people in line while you try to put stuff on your tray. I got a few things: Two different croissant sandwiches, a coffee type donut, a lemon cream raspberry donut, and a sausage link pastry. Overall, it wasn't good. The donuts tasted like oil and the sandwiches had a BARE minimum of meat and cheese, but also had mayo on them which is nasty on a breakfast croissant. As I said earlier, none of it tasted homemade - because it isn't. It honestly felt like an elevated Starbucks. The fact that everything is pre-made is a turn off. If I want a specific sandwich, I can't order it. People are calling it a local specialty bakery and it is not. Not even close. Probably a one and done for me as the food just isn't good. We have two actual French bakeries in this town and I'd rather spend an extra few bucks on that than this version of Parisian grab and go. Decided to finally visit yesterday after craving a Brookie. You walk in and it is extremely clean, which you gotta give props to cleanliness nowadays. Nobody greets you when you walk in, but I'm focused on the food anyways. You grab a tray, paper on top, some tongs, and go crazy. Although I will say I came at around 4pm and little to nothing was there. The stuff I grabbed was the last and there's nobody refilling the cabinets throughout the day. I get there's an 'exclusivity' to coming early rather in the afternoon, but why do all that? I just wanted my brookie. I'd recommend having people fill the cabinets throughout the day so everybody could get a shot at different pastries. Otherwise, the pastries were pretty good but nothing extraordinary. This place has been open nearly two months and they still don't have it figured out. Service is frustratingly slow. The cafe is frequently cluttered and filthy. Cases are often missing product. Staff seem nice enough but wholly unprepared to run a business. Latest malfunction was mislabeled croissants in the display case. We thought we were buying regular croissants, but when we got them home we discovered they were chocolate, which was invisible from the outside of the pastry. The crew needs a lot more training and/or fresh management. This place has a lot of potential but it'll be a while before we go back. read more

On a 1-10 a 4. But they have these cases filled with selections where u can stack up your pastries - take to counter and pay. Coffee u can order at checkout. Did not try. Despite having just opened, the staff was friendly and the display cases were still well stocked with a wide variety of pastries, breads, and sandwiches. The tuna sandwich was a standout for me, and several of the pastries were excellent. A few items weren't my personal favorites, but with such a large selection, that comes down more to individual taste than quality. Overall, it's a great addition to the area with plenty of options to try, and I'm looking forward to coming back and working my way through more of the menu. read more

I have to say. My wife and I came in mid afternoon. My initial impression was more about the cleanliness than anything else. They really need to step that up. Everything was a mess. The tabletops. Trash areas. Floors and specifically at the payment counter. There where items just strewn everywhere. Quite a turnoff. The baguette we bought was excellent. The coffee so so. I was very disappointed. The prices are a bit high and I wouldn't mind that if the pastries were good. But I drive all the way over to Thousand Oaks. They don't have chai for my chai latte. They don't have any other pastries. There are featured on their website and then I buy the only thing that I looks remotely appealing to me. I had high hopes when I attended the grand opening. Some of the problems are probably because it's new but I was amazed at how long it took to check out. At least 6 people behind the counter that were only making coffee and ringing people up. The wait was way too long. The sandwiches aren't made fresh; they are sealed in plastic in a refrigerator. This place is very similar to 85 C in Simi Valley. Although they are not owned by same Company their concepts are very similar. One is from S Korea and the other is Asian. However Paris is at least 35% more expensive. They don't have a working kitchen making hot foods. Everything is pre done, wrapped, and sold cold. I miss the authentic French Bakeries!!!!! read more

We don't do a lot of sweets so I can only comment on the lattes, the grab and go and the service is also always great. Happy they are open here. I'm going to say this with the understanding that this place is brand new and potentially still working out kinks. I'll give it another go in a few weeks and update this review accordingly. First off- do not expect a quick in and out. There was one cashier working with a very long slow moving line. The flow is completely missing from this self-serve cafeteria-style restaurant. Customers zig zagging from one case to the next, because you have to. The cases are not necessarily sequential or in a defined line. 3 employees restocking cases - also very much bumping into a line of waiting customers and still-browsing customers. The setup made no sense to me. You cannot visit all of the cases without leaving (and losing) your place in line. That's crazy. Then, if you grab something like a pizza pastry, which obviously you want warm, you wait again at the counter for them to do that after ringing you up. There is way too much back and forth and handling of items for my liking. Admittedly I'm not typically fond of buffet-style situations anyway but at least with a buffet there are clear lines. The food was very good. I had a pizza pastry and a blueberry lemon tart. But 25 minutes of waiting was most definitely not desirable. Maybe ordering ahead is best. And they need umbrellas on their patio. Definitely hoping for their success. I can walk there from my office so it's great having another option in the neighborhood. But they have to get the flow figured out because right now it's chaotic. Again maybe it's the newness. Is every location this much of a cluster? read more
