The coffee is fantastically good but also very affordable. I don't know how they do it. I love that I was greeted by this very nice lady, who I assume is the owner. I absolutely love stopping by Dr. Conkey's whenever I get the chance. It's such a cute, cozy little coffee shop with a warm, homey vibe that makes you want to stay a while. Today I tried the hot lavenberry latte, OMG!!!! so GOOD!!!! The coffee here is always bold and flavorful, never disappointing. They also have a great selection of pastries and candies, which adds to the charm. Whether I'm popping in for a quick pick me up or just want a calm place to relax, this is hands down my favorite coffee spot in Simi. I finally tried Dr. Conkey's Candy & Coffee Shop on Friday after hearing so many great things from my family -- they really love this place and always speak highly of the owner. The shop itself definitely lived up to the hype: super cute, very organized, and visually so fun that I wanted to try everything. My latte was delicious, and I love that there are a few tables where you can sit, study, or relax with a book. The ambiance is a 5/5 for sure. However, the service during my visit wasn't the best. There were two ladies working behind the counter, and unfortunately they didn't seem very welcoming. It was a fairly slow time when I arrived (no line in front nor behind me). The interaction felt rushed, and there wasn't much eye contact or friendliness -- almost like we were bothering them by being there. It didn't ruin my day or anything, but it did feel like a VERY poor representation of such a beloved establishment. While in the area, my girlfriend and I stumbled upon Dr. Conkey's Candy & Coffee Co and decided to take a trip down Nostalgia Lane with some amazing confections and caffeinated treats. Upon entering, you'll find yourself smack dab in the middle of a very fun old-timey ice cream parlor, meets Willy Wonka wonderland. Tons of old candies (some sold by the pound), amazing home made fudge, truffles, chocolate-covered whatever-you-fancies, and a legit coffee bar serving up some amazing beverages to enjoy inside the shop or on the go. The friendly owner was very kind to walk us through our questions, as we navigated which chocolates to select (she recommended several of the truffles, along with the honeycomb), as well as her "made it herself this morning" fudge options. I went with a white chocolate and peanut buttery masterpiece. Additionally, she helped serve us some of their wonderfully unique coffee drinks. My girlfriend opted for the 32-oz Gorilla Gorilla (only size available), which is 4 shots of Espresso (don't judge), banana and chocolate chip ice cream. I went with a 16-oz Nutter Butter Buzz, which is mocha, vanilla ice cream and peanut butter. The drinks were absolutely fantastic. A perfect "beat the heat" treat to not only start the day with a jolt, but sustain that sugar high throughout. The truffles and chocolate covered candies were amazing. Rich, very flavorful and decadent, each had a unique filling and outer shell drizzle design. Finally, the fudge was out of this world. So many options to choose from and each homemade and delicious. If there was ever an opportunity go relive a simpler time and experience all of the amazing sugary delights of being young again, I urge you to add Dr. Conkey's to your agenda. This guy s absolutely the best old school candy shop with all kinds of fun divinity that is gourmet but the place has a warm, homey feeling. They have candies and chocolates plus there are dozens of different coffee bean flavors for all those coffee lovers out there. Also there is a mini coffee shop in the back that makes cold coffee drinks. They have gummies, jelly beans, taffy and lollies. All of it confection perfection! This is the cutest coffee shop I have been to. I love the old country decor. The chocolates and fudge counter certainly caught my eye but I slowly made my way back to the coffee bar. Since it's September, I have to get the pumpkin goodies. I ordered a PumpkinMallow iced coffee and a pumpkin scone. The iced coffee was just to my liking of not too sweet but sweet enough. The pumpkin scone was a bit softer and fresh tasting than typical scones at other big name coffee chains. While I waited for my drink, I walked around to look at the cute decor that was for sale and then I checked out the different flavored soda bottles and other bagged candies they had. If I was in the mood for candy, I would have purchased some from the chocolate counter. Next time! read more

I found out about this place after talking to a neighbor on the 4th of July. I was excited to try after hearing about it. It did not disappoint! Since my first visit I fell in love. Now I go probably twice a week and I've turned so many other friends onto it that didn't know it existed either. It's such a nostalgic candy/coffee store. They have lots of candy which all the kids love. I have found some hard to find candy here that I can't find anywhere else. I love getting the candy or chocolate truffles they offer, and I add them onto gifts for holidays or if I buy a gift card from this store. Also their coffee drinks i absolutely love. They have a huge selection to choose from. They have seasonal drinks, iced drinks, blended drinks, hot drinks, and even fruit smoothie. Sometimes it's really hard to decide. My favorite is the cappuccino malt. And their prices for the coffee are very good compared to all the other small shops I have been to. Some are outrageous these days. Everyone has been so friendly every time I have gone in. They give you a birthday drink on your birthday which is so nice. And now that all my friends know I love this place, I received a few gift cards for my birthday. One gift card a friend ordered online and it was literally hand delivered to me at my home! What amazing customer service!! One other big pluses to me in a coffee shop is an outside patio. They have a decent patio with tables and chairs to sit outside and enjoy your coffee. I actually go so often now that I know some of the regulars that sit outside every day on the patio! I love this place and I highly recommend trying it! And if they have a line.... Always wonderful to support independent coffee shops! Unfortunately in Simi Valley, independent coffee shops are far and few! Not only is this place a coffee shop, but also a candy shop located centrally in Simi Valley in the same shopping center as Sprouts (next door), Bank of America and Citibank! So you can get all of your errands done and have a great drink to go sit on the patio outside. Or if its hot, you can sit inside among the cute shopping area with tempting house warming gifts! The staff were super warm and friendly as we entered! We were warmly greeted as we entered and as we approached the coffee area. The staff were very opened in suggesting drinks on the menu and off the menu! The menu is extensive and one could get last with all of the choices- but if you tell the staff what you like they will help you find the perfect drink! So cute! We went and got drinks here and have gotten their chocolates before. The kids cotton candy drink really tastes like cotton candy! Their blended chai is perfect and they add that cinnamon touch as well. There are Knick knacks to peruse, little tables to sit and chat with a friend, chocolates and candy to purchase. Definitely a fan of this Simi Valley original. Feels like stepping back in time, or walking into a confectionary on Main Street in Disneyland. I usually head straight back to the coffee bar in the rear of the shop. Once I place my drink order with the friendly baristas, I can glance around at the charming gift items displayed in that section. I love how they update the display bookshelves and walls with seasonal décor. Their merchandising is fresh, colorful, and fun. Am also happy that they have non only non-dairy milk options for the coffee drinks, but also non-dairy whipped cream. That would be an extra star for me to think of those of us who can't handle milk products but still want to have some extra oomph to our ice blended drinks. Their baked goods are also tempting. I've never had anything in the shop that I didn't absolutely love. They have a great handle on what makes my taste buds dance and sing. I'm not big on candy in this time of my life, but I can be coaxed to have a specialty chocolate now and then. They definitely have options that way, too. After ordering our coffees they told us we couldn't use our gift cards because their system was down. They already started our drinks so I felt obligated to continue with the order and pay cash. I was not quite awake so the barista was wonderfully patient with me as I looked at the menu. Got a delicious latte with amaretto syrup! Yum!! always a treat coming in here. Reminds me of a lil' quaint mountain shop with goodies and treats, and always delicious coffees and teas! If you're in the area, you gotta try it out. I went in with my 2 young children to get a piece of chocolate, we walk in and my child points to the candy's he wants and she come around the counter and reprimanded my kid "don't touch the glass, don't touch the glass, dont touch the glass" ... for which I responded, " ok well he's a kid" He's three years old and simply pointed to which one he wanted. I love Doctor Conkey's. They have great service, great candy, and great chocolates! I also love the old school nostalgia of the "old time-y candy shoppe". My son loves coming here and he loves picking out his own candy. They have a mixture of everything; Gummy candys, homemade chocolates and fudge, old school candy (remember those Spongebob burgers from when we were kids?), taffy, etc. All the staff here is also very patient and when it's not busy I try to use it as a learning experience for my son to buy his own stuff. Prices are very fair. My son loves ring pops and they are only $1.10 so he is very excited when we go and buy them. They also have a small coffee bar in the back and it is very yummy. I have had several drinks from them and I like all of them. Honestly, my favorite coffee shop in Simi is Makenna's - and nothing is going to beat them (IMHO) - but I will also never say no to Dr. Conkey's. I know that they also sell their beans and I am excited to get some for my coffee loving friend when his birthday comes around. Went on Thursday 12/23/2021 The two women working the last hour of the store hours were friendly and helpful. The drink was pretty good. I ordered a chai latte with oat milk and cinnamon on top. It was around $5 something for a large. Like two small tables and a booth plus one table outside. It's like a general store which sells soda, candy, stuff animals, Knick knacks pretty much. The truffle is way overpriced $2.75 for one dark chocolate truffle. The outer shell was hard and the inside was melted dark chocolate. It was okay. I've tasted better. read more
