Recently, I got together with two dear women friends for lunch at North Ranch Plaza. After…read moreenjoying our meal and chat at the Italian restaurant, we weren't ready to part yet, and wanted something light for dessert. Tifa! This was the closest location, and a perfect spot to hang out for a while longer. After scoring our small gelatos, we headed out to sit in the sunshine adjacent to the fountain out front. It was just warm enough to be pleasant, and the wind mostly behaved by not chasing napkins away on the breeze. Since I had to give up dairy a few years ago, it's such a pleasure to be able to count on Tifa for having three to four flavors each day without it. The little tea wafers they add to the gelato are delightful for their delicate flavor and flaky texture. Whoever does the hiring for their shops seems to do a great job of finding friendly employees who display warmth in their welcoming greetings. I understand that the real estate prices at this center must be expensive, but it's a shame that the indoor space here is very tight. A number of the other Tifa locations have more elbow room, and encourage lingering by offering games and puzzles to keep the young and young-at-heart amused while enjoying their gelato and chocolate treats. That's the only reason for four stars instead of five here.

Local, organic, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, unprocessed, wholesome chocolates made with love. I actually feel good about eating chocolate! The flavors are so are amazing, my favorites are the Celtic Sea Salt, where opposites attract, delicate cocoa with just a hint of sea salt such unique experience and the Mayan heart, chocolate with a kick, it's truly amazing! Drove all the way from Burbank just to check out Carrara's Pastry Shop in Agoura Hills--and wow,…read morethey absolutely did not disappoint. It's a small, charming café with a cozy atmosphere, featuring old-school car collectibles displayed on a shelf that add a unique touch. They also offer outdoor seating where you can enjoy your desserts surrounded by lush greenery, natural foliage, and a peaceful little waterfall pond. The service was great as well, they were friendly and welcoming and answered all my questions. suggested I definitely I ended up picking up a chocolate and hazelnut cake with an incredibly soft, spongy interior that was perfectly balanced and rich without being overwhelming. I also grabbed a single serving of the blueberry cheesecake, which was light, airy, and still decadently satisfying--definitely worth every spoonful. The rum babas were a standout: bite-sized, soaked in Jamaican rum, filled with Chantilly cream, and topped with a raspberry. So flavorful and unique--each bite was indulgent without being too heavy. And then there was the Velina cake... oh my goodness. A beautiful sponge layered with chocolate mousse and hazelnut mousse, all covered in a glossy dark chocolate glaze. It was so rich and decadent that I had to slow myself down just to fully enjoy every bite. Everything tasted fresh, thoughtfully made, and worth the drive. I'd absolutely come back again.

We were greeted right away, and we let one of the people working there know we wanted to take a look around as it was our first time stopping in, which was okay. The shop itself was empty. We took a look at the ice cream selection, the full cakes, and then the pastries. Everything looked really good. We decided on a chocolate trilogia pastry and a red velvet pastry to go. The transaction went well. When we got home, we ate the goodies. The trilogia was fresh and had great flavor. The red velvet, unfortunately, did not meet expectations. The cake part was dry, and the frosting was dense and had little flavor. Maybe I just ended up getting an older one, but at $8.25, I had expected a much better item. The service was great, but as a red velvet lover, the flavor was not as expected. I would potentially try again but would sample some other treats.

I've been wanting to try Phil's for a while and I am sure glad I finally made it there…read more I met a friend for dinner early - like 3:30 early. The restaurant is quaint with outside seating and a cool saloon type atmosphere in the bar. The menu offers a variety of apps, salads, main entrees and flavors. My friend and I ordered the meat loaf. Upon arrival the slab was a healthy size, sitting on a bed of mashed potatoes and topped with curly onion rings. It did not disappoint. We followed our dinner with their combo cobbler. Yum. Here's the thing, our visit began at 3:30 and I believe we left at 7:30! Phil and staff came by appropriately to check on refills, etc but never "encouraged" us to be on our way. If you haven't tried Phil's you should do so. Food choices and food itself were excellent. Prices are reasonable (there's a cash price vs credit price) and you'll feel like you're part of their family.

We came on Wednesday, May 6 during their happy hour when hardly anyone was in there. Phil was our bartender and he's great! It was now 5pm and another bartender was clocking in. We asked to close out. Our tab was around $50. When I got the check back to sign it was $61. We had been charged $9 for someone else's glass of wine. Ok fine not a big deal we caught it and Phil refunded us $9 cash right then and there. I handed Phil a $20 bill for tip to say thank you (on a $50 tab) and he put it in the staff tip jar. We signed our receipt saying $61 (put "cash" in the tip line) and left. Now here's my issue, when my credit card statement posted it now says $71. So someone took an extra $10! I have worked in the restaurant industry over 13 years and tip fraud is not ok. I tipped you guys in cash and someone took more! I called on 5/8 and left a voicemail. And then called on 5/13 and actually spoke to someone quickly and they said they would call me back, but no one called me back! It's a small business and I know Phil is working hard to make his place great so I know it's not Phil. But hey Phil, check your employees. This isn't cool and the only reason for this review is because I tried twice to solve this issue over the phone. For future patrons, please double check your receipts as well as your credit card statements!!!
