I picked up some sweets and snacks from the shop to gift the hard-working staff at the UCLA Hampshire clinic, and the staff were overjoyed! The people at the shop helped me pick out a wide variety of snacks, and I'm so glad I went with their suggestions! After trying these snacks and sweets for themselves, the staff leader told me that they themselves checked out this sweet shop and also picked out other things as well!! What an amazing local gem! It took me way too long to finally try Newberry Candy. The candy shop might look small, but it is packed with so many delicious sweet treats. It was hard to choose what to get because everything looked like it would be excellent. We were given a sample of the freshly made chocolate covered marshmallow caramel and their milk chocolate toffee. We ended up getting a bag of the milk chocolate toffee, the white chocolate peanut butter golf ball, peppermint patty, chocolate covered gummy bears, and chocolate nougats. Everything we had was fresh, rich, and full of flavor. There were chocolate and caramel covered apples, chocolate covered pretzels, all kinds of chocolate candies, and a ton of Halloween themed treats. We loved our visit here. In a nondescript strip mall along TO Blvd is this beauty and master of baking. This candy shop is one of the greatest businesses in the Conejo Valley. It's a great place to find sweets for an event, coroporate gifts, and for personal enjoyment. The ornate candy apples are my favorite. I love the holidays ones for Chanukah most. The shop is well known for their delicious toffee. The peanut butter cups are nothing short of amazing too. There's also s'mores, chocolate covered pretzels and pecan sweets. Years ago I received a caramel apple from here as a gift and it was so amazing I have been meaning to come back. I finally did and of course I picked up another caramel apple. The ladies working were so nice and offered a sample of their toffee which is what they are known for apparently. Located in a very nondescript strip mall on TO blvd, I've driven past Newberry Candy more times than I can count. In my effort to support local small businesses during the holidays, I finally took the time to stop by Newberry Candy for some sweet treats. Apparently Newberry Candy is known for their toffee. Well I can confirm that the toffee is amazingly fresh, tasty and well worth the calories. Obviously that went into our basket. Along with the toffee, we purchased some large peanut butter cups, some rocky road pieces, and a variety pack of chocolate assortments. All have received great feedback from the people we gifted the candies to. Although a very small store front, there is plenty of selection to choose from. Additionally the people behind the counter were extremely pleasant and helpful throughout our shopping experience. To me Newberry Candy is the definition of small business that needs local support. This shop was crazy delicious. Last week, I went in for a Carmel Apple and ended with so much great chocolate. First, the Carmel apple was great. Apple was fresh and a perfect layer of Carmel, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Then, I purchased milk chocolate waffers, molasses candy, chocolate marshmallows, and a peanut butter cup. Candy apples are not something everybody will like, but I love them and thought Newberry s were awesome! It was like getting my New England childhood served up to me on a stick. Wow! That's my first thought. Wonderful dark chocolate covered cherries that aren't overfilled with juicy center, but a nice cherry with just enough. The chocolate fudge is great, and I don't care for fudge. The dark chocolate covered marshmallow and caramel/marsmallow (think scotchmallow) are very good. The english toffee, which is what the store is best known for is really very good. I believe the owner's name is John and he is very friendly and helpful. He uses real vanilla, butter and delicious chocolate. As a true die-hard See's Candies lover I can honestly say that Newberry Candy is just as good if not better (chocolate covered cherries). Newberry Candy made my entire family speechless - mostly because everyone stuffed their mouths full of delicious treats! LOL After hearing about this local, family-owned shop for a while now - we had been meaning to stop by and grab a few pieces to try. Last week, quarantine was getting to us a bit, and we had been working hard on some projects at home, so even though we aren't making a habit out of going shopping right now, I popped in quickly to surprise my family with a treat. Mr. Newberry and his staff were working away in the kitchen when I arrived and welcomed me with smiling eyes behind their masks. He gave me the history of the family recipes, let me know what they were best known for, and gave me a "tour" of the kitchen from behind the counter. Watching him work while he spoke with me, you could tell he really loves his work and was excited for me to try some of his delicious treats. I grabbed some dark chocolate caramels (+sea salt) + the dark chocolate caramel marshmallows for my mom + me, their famous toffee for my hubs, chocolate covered Oreos for my kid, and some fudge for us all to try. Every. Single. Bite. of EVERYTHING - was absolutely delicious. Everything was so fresh, not too sweet, and just perfect. You can tell that Mr. Newberry takes great pride in his Grandmother's home recipes and that every bite is made with love. You can literally taste it in every single bite. I fear (only for my waistline) that we'll be coming here more often. It's definitely going to be added to our go-to's when we want a little something sweet! I ordered Newberry Candy through Door Dash on Saturday evening. I love their milk chocolate fudge with walnuts as well as the milk chocolate toffee. The candy is always fresh and delicious! I also ordered a Carmel Apple for my daughter. The Dasher called me because they told him that they were out of the fudge with nut(because it was almost closing time),, but that they could substitute plain fudge and I agreed. Therefore, I was expecting the plain fudge. So I was surprised to find a neatly printed and personalized note inside of the bag from John Newberry apologizing for not having the fudge with nuts and saying that I should let him know if I was unhappy with the plain fudge.
