I love that I can create my own ice cream flavor! Each visit I try something new I've created! The servers keep up with the customers unless there's a customer who really can't decide - not the fault of the server although perhaps, suggesting the customer who's ready give their order. It's an ice cream shop so ambience kind of non issue but generally clean with tables inside but the outside courtyard with fountain is the cherry on top of any sundae! read more

We went there yesterday and it was hotter and WAY more humid IN the store than it was outside. We tried to prop the doors open when we left just because of the poor workers but they didn't stay. At one point one of the guys in my party asked if their AC was broken and we were told "no, they locked the AC controls so we can't adjust it." OH COME ONNNNNN. Probably the most costly ice cream we've ever had; that said it's proof that one gets what they pay for. Sure there are cheaper alternatives, but having your desert custom made while you watch is pretty much amazing. Everybody in the family has a favorite, mine being the Founder's Favorite, and its always just right, their fudge brownies are to die for. Whether you pick a paper bowl or one of their wonderful waffle cones, you are in for a treat. I'll admit that sometimes this place gets insanely busy, the wait can be almost like the local In n Out at times, and then there are the delivery people coming and going with pick-ups that make things even worse. We only come a few times each year, this product is super rich and all the ingredients are just as satisfying as the ice creams used for the base of each creation. Sometimes they do make a mistake with the additives, but since everything is added by hand that is to be expected; do be vigilant. read more

Five stars for the young man who took our order and speedily made up our custom creations. He must have very strong wrists and forearms from lots of practice mixing up the frozen concoctions here. Aside from him, the place was a bit dark and factory-like for my taste. There is zero seating inside, so we ended up outside in the cold at a dirty table that hadn't seen any attention in a long time. Speaking of the taste, mine must have changed over the years. I now find the base ice cream very heavy and almost too creamy. It felt like my arteries were complaining over the high fat content. I used to really enjoy ColdStone, but it isn't my preference any longer. The concept of having a custom blend of ingredients created for you as you watch still holds appeal. Just overwhelmed at the density of the product now. Guess I may stick to frozen yogurt. Glad that it made Adored Grandson happy, though. read more

I was being helped by a worker and then this lady (probably the manager) pulls them away when I'm mid-order. I can hear the manager yelling at the employee while nobody helped me for several minutes. I felt extremely uncomfortable and question if the manager cares about customer experience. Then, when I'm finally helped, by the time I paid and was handed my ice cream it was completely melted. Some of the flavors are seasonal, so there are always new ones to try. Sometimes I like to just get one of the Signature Creations and other times, I create my one mix. There are endless possibilities! It is clean and well kept. The employees were very friendly and seemed like they enjoyed what they were doing. They even dealt with the extremely difficult customer in front of us with a smile and no complaints. This location gets super busy. We came on a Tuesday and the line was out the door. I got there at 5 and the guy hadn't even started it yet, so I had to wait an extra 20 minutes. In addition, I paid for extra heath chips. There were 2 in the whole thing, and this was a LOVE IT size! If you're a fan of Cold Stone Creamery, make sure that you join their email list for coupons. I can't remember the last time I actually paid for anything here combined with the gift cards that we've gotten for random celebrations. This Cold Stone Creamery is a bit smaller than others that I've been to, and the flow is a bit awkward. They need to put stickers down on the floor or something to show people where to go because a lot of customers come in confused about where the line is. The service has always been courteous at this location: they greet you, serve you with a smile, and say thank you at the end. They've never gotten annoyed when you take your time with samples, even if there's a line. They advertise three sizes: like it (small), love it (medium), and large (gotta have it); but they also have a kid's size which is about half a scoop in a like it cup. They have a variety of waffle cones/bowls (dipped & not dipped) for you to eat your ice cream creation out of. You can also get a shake, an ice cream cake, or a quart of ice cream. They have a wide variety of "signature" ice cream & add-in combinations to choose from, or you can come up with your own combination. They don't have a wide variety of base ice cream flavors, but that's because you get to decide what you would like to add to it! The ice cream flavors include your standard vanilla, chocolate, mint, coffee, and strawberry, but they also have cheese cake, sweet cream, and cake batter (my favorite). Every once in a while they'll have a special flavor, but it's really up to the store you go to. I haven't seen it done, but from what I've been told by the employees they make the ice cream in the store. They also have yogurt & sorbet, but I have found that different stores have different flavors at different times. Next is the fun part: the add-ins! They have just about every type of typical ice cream mix-in you can think of: various candy, chocolate bars, fruit, fudge, brownies, whipped cream... I just wish they had hot marshmallow. read more

Hi, Al! I'm one of the employees at Cold Stone in Simi. I'm sorry we didn't provide a sufficient service, but I did want to point out a couple of points that could've helped. First the primary reason for us only taking online ice cream orders during this time is because we've been trying to take extra precaution when it comes to the health of our customers and those they interact with as well as for our own health and that of our loved ones, which is why we've sectioned off the small area by the entrance in order to limit potential contaminated areas in the store as well as to keep enough space between us to comply with the Governor Newsom's executive order (6ft between people). Secondly, when it comes to online ordering, there are multiple services that are available for online ordering: Cold Stone's own app/website, DoorDash, Grubhub, Postmates, and Uber Eats. Of these, two of them (CSC app/website and Grubhub) allow for our customers to pick up their order themselves rather than having it delivered. I can also say that most, if not all, of our 3rd party delivery partners should have our full menu available. However I will note that I did check for those items you couldn't find on the CSC app and can say that they should be there so I'll be notifying my manager to see if we can get that updated as soon as possible as well as to double check our 3rd party delivery services to ensure our full menu is available online. I sincerely hope this helped keep you and/or others a little more informed and that we may have you as a customer again soon as I really do try to make the service I provide the absolute best I can. -Josh read more

Very cold and quite flavorful. I really do enjoy it. This particular visit I went with the Cherry Vanilla ice cream with gummy bear mix-ins. The gummy bears froze and were kinda difficult to chew. But, in their defense, they gave me exactly what I asked for. This place is all about trying new things.
