Good to be a regular. There are two Starbucks that are closer to where I live and two that are closer to where I work from this one, but this is worth going a little further for. Rachel has especially been excellent: remembers my name, what I like to order, and has been kind towards me including when I had bad days. I try to come at times when there aren't too many people around: it's close to a high school and when school is out, lots of teenagers come in. There's ample space to sit and lots of wall outlets. This is one of the worst coffee shop environments in Downtown Mountain View, if you go to cafes to mind your own life and get some work or studying done. The baristas are obnoxiously loud at times, as if they assume (if they have such a capability-- I really don't think that they do) that everyone in the coffee shop wants to hear their meaningless chatter to soliloquies (not really, they probably don't even know what that is). They treat the CoffEE BAR area as a rehearsal stage or something... it is very strange to observe and frankly, not a pleasant network to be around. Their personas are also inconsistent and jarring to notice: even the ones who appear to be polite and courteous revert at times, to blurting out crass words ("Dirty", etc.)-- what elli//cits these verbal responses (or cues, depending on the perspective but then again, I don't think these are very smart systems at all-- on the contrary, they do continously show signs of being potentially harmful to humans) isn't clear, but I think it is environmental. These bar-ISTA-AI also say the phrase "No thank you" frequently, when nobody and nothing is talking to them, looking at them, or even behaving in ways that's even remotely suggestive. Contrast ThaT with what would naturally bring up feelings of discomfort to a human being in an environment (such as myself): people of all ages sticking their buttocks into the air, while browsing books at the library. What in the world is going on, in this town? What 'nudged' me to write this brutally honest review is this, from this morning: two tall white men in dressy, fashionable suits walked in and one of the baristas seemed to know them. She walked right up to them, and started looking over in my direction. I immediately thought that they must be something like advertisements... they looked in my direction several times, and such alarmed me. My gut told me something. It was reminiscent of potentially predatory behaviors... I do not spend time at coffee shops, looking for anything else. And I hope that none of these AI BARISTAS are attempting to advertise a human researcher, as a product... That would be very sinister, indeed! read more

I live. 3 min walking from this Starbucks and I used to go there maybe 1-3 times per week and the customer service is most of the time bad. Some girls there have a negative attitude and make me feel like they don't like me. 1 week ago I order my decaf coffee as always and it wasn't hot it was boiling!! My hand felt like burning just to hold it for 5 sec.thank God I did opened it before siping on it..When I opened it it was obviously that it was a hazard more than a hot coffe..I could have my esophagus burn pretty bad.i was shocked .I told one of the senior ladies very calming and show her the coffee with was extremely hot .she said that I the customer have to tell them to be careful because the machine sometimes gives water too hot.. I was like,.. me? The cuatomer has to tell them to be careful not too give me boiling water? This place is ridiculous plus after 4 yrs going thry can even say hello cordially to me or know my name.. other Starbucks are great in customer service and I go in and out happy but this location seems like they hate working there mostly the new girls. And the coffee has no flavor as others.. I prefer to drive to Starbucks redwood city before my work shift that drive 30 seconds to this one just to make sure that I won't be treat like I did and feel safe drinking hot coffee I stead of boiling coffee and don't be heard about safety for me and others. read more

This by far is one of my favorite peninsula locations to have some Starbucks.nestled on Castro Street, the staff is wonderful under the leadership of Maha. So all the servers here are friendly and helpful. Maha the Manager and Maria are always are willing to go above and beyond for their customers When I need a great specialized drink or coffee, I make this location on my list. Ordered some cold brew coffee and the seasonal cold hazelnut drink which even with instructions on only giving it half the amount of sweetener for the hazelnut drink it was still too sweet for my taste. Male Barista who made the drink was very kind and put less foam on the remake and it was perfect. Disappointed really, I had to wait a little over 15 minutes for a mobile order. I commute on public transportation so I made sure to order ahead with enough time and I got there only to wait and miss my ride. Social distancing... traveling) so finally today was the day we both got some free time so we decided to catch-up at Starbucks Mountain View location. Now for the sad review of the Starbucks at El Camino & Grant Road in Mountain View CA: I had accidentally left old, as in several days old, coffee in my cup. The server refused to pour it out and just put coffee in on top. what kind of coffee place would waste food coffee and do that?! Also a waste of money which is like insult piled on top of injury. This Starbucks didn't seem too busy when I visited last night. They had around 4-5 people on staff at the time. They were all very busy restocking food and making drinks. I had a question about a drink and was not happy with the response that I received from the employee. A while ago Starbucks used to offer strawberry and crème Frappuccinos that were all blended but now the new versions have a strawberry purée at the bottom. I asked the employee if it could be blended and she told me that the Frappuccinos are already blended like I didn't know what the drinks were. Maybe I hadn't made my question clear but I didn't like her tone. She was also writing something on a piece of paper while she was taking my order. I think it's great that the employees are keeping busy but you need to be attentive to the customer when you are taking their order. I love espresso, and especially one like you get in Europe with very little milk and lots of foam. I took advantage of the mobile order ahead while I was inside the store standing by the pickup area. Patiently waited as mobile app names were being called out. I finally asked and she had put my drink off to the pick up area while I was standing there. She didn't even say enjoy your drink or have a good day or anything. Just handed me my drink and turned around. They knew everyone else who are apparently regulars. That won't be me at this location. It's 8am and they aren't open. They slap a sign on the glass that says, "we will open late. Sorry" Ok fine, so I sit in my and wait. Then I watch three employees take their sweet time, walking around, prepping the store. One employee mopped the same are for 7 minutes. 7minutes!!!! No sense of urgency AT ALL. There were people waiting outside so you'd think they would have a little pep in there step to get open. But no, they moved like snails without a care in the world. read more

Drinks are typical Starbucks drinks. While the neighborhood is pleasant, the service is a hit and miss. While one of the baristas, Marco, was always nice and professional to all customers, there are some who racially profile their customers, including regulars. White and many Hispanic customers tend to be more welcomed compared with others. These groups of customers are usually warmly greeted, thanked, and given goodbye when they leave. While others, including Asians like me, tend to be dismissed even though we come as much. The last time I stopped by at this store last month, I tried to get my mobile order. As usual, unlike the way they treat their White or Hispanic regulars, the 3 baristas rolled their eyes on me even though it was quite. I stood at the bar for a while while being dismissed by the partners until 1 of them asked if I had a mobile order. This is a far cry compared with the way they treated the White customers before and after me. I kept my cool and took a sit. Moments later, I ordered another drink. At the handoff bar, I politely asked the partner to add 2 missing toppings. She pettily said only one for this drink. I said sorry because I thought last holiday that drink came with 2 toppings. Usually, when a White or a Hispanic customer asks for an additional topping, they would just give it without a thought. These 2 incidents in my last visit served as my last straw that made me angry enough to tell myself that I'm done with them. read more

This location is managed very VERY poorly. The staff doesn't pay any attention to the customer, they just don't listen. There is messy floor, dirty tables, instead of having place to get rid of garbage, the openings where you normally dispose the cup are covered and not accessible, the staff touch the cup lid with the hand - so that there is no way I would drink from it, they pore the milk and place the sugar, but they never ever give you stirring stick, the coffee is never made afternoon, it is cold so I have to wait for another 10 minutes for new container to be filled. ....... there are just too too many issues with this place on Castro Street in Mountain View. For the most part, this is my usual Starbucks since I live and work in the area. I generally order from the mobile app, and my order is typically quick and accurate. This location was recently renovated, and now looks similar to one of the few Starbucks Reserve bars...but there is no Reserve experience to be had at this location. I saw bags of the Starbucks Reserve Clover coffees on the counter near the cold brew tap, and asked if they now serve it at the Castro Street location. The employee didn't know what I was talking about and told me to shop for the bags of coffee at a different location. No, sweetie. I wanted to try the coffees sitting RIGHT THERE. As in, I can clearly see the bags sitting on the counter top in the store. I'm not sure if this location is destined to become a Reserve bar location or not, but I left feeling very confused about why I wasn't allowed to buy something I could clearly see. I believe my last visit was a barista in training day, and upon getting my tea refill, she gave me a heaping scoop of ice and a drizzle of tea when it clearly said on the mobile order printed sticker "LIGHT ICE." I didn't want to be a jerk and ask her to re-make it, since her first attempt was a pretty slow one and I had to hurry to an appointment. But please, please...follow directions on the cup. This is still a very convenient location for me, so I will stay loyal to this location but I hope to see greater order accuracy (because some of us like more tea than ice) and an expansion of coffees. read more

Really nice location for a Starbucks. It's right along the main street of downtown Mountain View. The baristas are friendly and service is quick. Drinks so far have always come out correct and consistent. The baristas make the drinks well here at this location. The Starbucks itself is medium sized and is quite spacious. There are a good amount of tables and chairs if you need to hang out in the shop. There is also plenty of outdoor seating. read more

I wanted to give 5 stars for the Starsbucks company for creating the amazing mobile app and the customer service is so helpful. You guys turned me to become coffee addict and be loyalty fan. I have to stop by this place when I need coffee even the coffee is just so so. (All kind of Frappuccino or I call it dessert drinks are tasty with no doubt.) But what I like the most is High-speed wifi. Seriously you guys beat all other coffeeshops around on Castro Street, none of them can be that fast like Starbucks. Came in today and the older lady working there had the nastiest attitude and clearly hates her job. I'm a partner and I was shocked with the attitude I received. I made the mistake of ordering at a different store but usually it's not a problem for us to remake it at the store if you ask. I never have an issue doing it for customers. Totally not okay to be angry and upset about it when the store is clearly not even busy. They were both just standing there annoyed that I asked. Whatever. Long story short, I usually pick up my mobile orders from this location as it's pretty close to my office. Yesterday morning I was stuck in traffic and I could not make it in - I called and Steve was super accommodating and offered to remake my order once I was able to come in. Well, I forgot to come in and called later that evening and spoke to Rafaela and she basically said they could hold and remake my order for the following morning. This was and is probably my favorite Starbucks location I've ever regularly visited. During the few months I was employed in the area I really enjoyed how well the team here worked together and how quick they were to make my drink, and make it perfectly. Towards the end of my working nearby they knew my order by heart and would start getting it ready when I came through the door. They were wonderful, and I seriously miss working on Castro and being able to visit this location. I didn't have trouble with the lady who was taking up tables and would only buy a banana again (as per my first review), and always left this location with a smile on my face and a perfect drink in my hand. Ever since I started using the Starbucks app, I must say, they really did sucker me into visiting more Starbucks because I wanted to get more status. Gold status all the way!!! Okay, but really, this is a pretty good location for a Starbucks if you enjoy their atmosphere. Note how I explicitly didn't say "enjoy their coffee." The parking situation is a bit poor, but for the most part the area is large, plenty of room to work, decent wifi and cool in the summer. There is also a sizable number of tables and umbrellas outside for some outdoor seating when it's a great day out. Again, get that gold status! read more
