My friend used to live in the apartments behind this locale and years ago it was the de facto place for us to meet. I recently met up with another friend here after a long abscence. After an interesting conversation with the guy behind the counter about Sigur Ros and how Iceland produces some interesting musical artists, we sat and had a nice long conversation. As we started leaving is when the night got interesting. We first got semi acosted by a really drunk guy telling us about his time in the Marines and his daughter and how we were all like a nand of brothers. Then two guys pull up to the store, singing like it was American Idol or something only to find the place closed. After 10 minutes of trying to finish our conversation and avoiding various weirdos we had to call it a night. So I guess you could say this isn't your average Starbucks with average clientele. read more

I frequent this Starbucks since I work around the corner and the service here never fails to impress. The staff is hardworking and friendly and always offers to remake drinks if they don't taste to your liking. Except for the times that the high schoolers bombard the place after school, the service is always quick. Definitely stop by if you're in the Downtown Mountain View area! read more

The two stars are for the friendly and upbeat baristas who have always delivered drinks quickly. This place only gets two stars, however, because the internet is really janky and there's always problem with the connection. The lighting also makes me feel like I'm at a seedy bar or that I'm about to go blind because it's so dim. The bathroom here isn't that great, either, kind of smells the last few times I've been in there, making me a little nauseous. Being nauseous + dim lighting = not a very good feeling. This place does have potential to be better, though. Hopefully the internet improves here! read more

I swore I'd never come back here if I needed a place to work. the wifi is the worst I've seen in any Starbuck in the Bay Area. I just don't understand how, in the middle of SV, in an area surrounded by tech companies, they can have such a terrible and slow wifi service. it's been this way for at years. every six months or so I figure it must have been updated and try again, but no luck. why does every Starbucks around here have Google wifi and this one is still on AT&T??? and twice when I've been here, I've asked for a grande coffee with room for milk and they put it in a venti cup. huh? I asked why and they said they they put a grande amount in a venti cup. I have been to Starbucks all over the world, from Beijing to London to Sao Paulo and everywhere in between and a grande coffee is served in a grande cup. the reason people come to Starbucks is because of consistency. a grande coffee means the same thing in every Starbucks in the world, except at 750 Castro Street in Mountain View. maybe the baristas here think they are smarter than the marketing people at corporate. two stars instead of one because it's a great location and there is plenty of outdoor seating read more

I doubt I'll be back. I go to coffee shops to work. The music in this place is so loud that my noise blocker can't screen it out. I asked them to turn it down. The first person I asked told me that they had no control over their sound system. I had a hard time believing that, but I packed up my stuff and got ready to leave. As I was heading out i told another employee that I was leaving because it was too loud to work. That employee told me "We have to be able to hear the music." Now bear in mind that it was already so loud that we had to stand close to hear each other, so that is a bizarre claim to start with. But if their biggest concern is letting the employees rock their tunes then they have more important things on their minds than my money. read more

Staff were friendly here and I like that our drinks, even though they were pretty busy, were made quickly. The place is pretty clean and I love that there is a lot of seating. There is a huge table and a lot of little tables, also has a counter top area. I had an iced vanilla latte and it seemed to be less sweet and stronger in coffee flavor than the other times I've had it at other Starbucks, which I enjoyed. I did notice that this establishment is pretty busy. There was traffic coming throughout the afternoon. read more

This starbucks is by far the worst. They can't even take a simple order of a drink. All I was asking for one of their traditional drinks without the classic syrup. They passed me down two time before someone tried to take my order. Not to mention as soon I started ordering the Lady walked away from two times... and took the order half way and looked at someone else to take my order. They still got my drink wrong. After asking about it to make sure it's my drink, they were extremely rude. Decided to leave, and asked to get a new straw since the one she gave me was ripped. She tossed the whole tray of the straws to me said you take what you want. Very dramatic experience. I never have bad experiences when I go places and this bar far the most dramatic one. I really hope starbucks take a look at their employees. read more

Starbucks. They are all the same, yet locations can differ in their spacing and when they are most crowded. 1. With its key location on Castro Street, this location can become very crowded. This is especially true at around 3 PM when middle school students overtake it as a studying hangout 2. Parking Downtown Mountain View can be a pain. Now, that I think about it, parking is even more limited than Downtown Los Altos. 3. There are a few tables outside. Similar to the Downtown Los Altos location, this Starbucks is small and a bit of an odd shape. Some of the tables are awkwardly placed, and it can be difficult to move around. Same ole'. I really really like this location in the evenings. It's one of the coziest Starbucks in the area, and it's generally pretty slow around dinner/nighttime, so it's fairly quiet. The service is always really good and the drinks are what you'd expect, though I usually just get tea around that time anyway. (Note to Starbucks: Please don't phase out the Tazo teas in-store!) Sometimes it can be hard to find seating because of the size, but usually only on weekends. EDIT: Added 1 star for the friendly baristas and the Clover. The tables outside can be pretty grody sometimes, but I get Starbucks and their understaffing so I just wipe off and deal. read more

Average drinks, below average service. Been coming to this Starbucks here and there since it's conveniently located in downtown Mountain View. Given that, the parking situation is not one of the best. Their drinks are the same with any other Starbucks obviously, but I personally feel like the taste is inconsistent. Additionally, sometimes my shaken iced tea was not shaken - ironic but true. Other times my caramel macchiato didn't have the crisscross caramel sauce on top. Although these aren't world-shattering imperfections, I don't feel this place really meets my Starbucks standards! read more

I am so surprised that this Starbucks has not been reviewed yet?! Correct me if I am wrong! This one is close to my work and on the way to work and I LOVE this location. There is only street parking which can probably get stressful during busy times but I have always been able to find a street spot in front every time I come here. I like the layout of this location because there are lots of little tables and a bench along the back side of this place which makes it convenient if you are in a group or a single party enjoying your drink. But the best part about this place are the people working here. I have never, ever experienced better service at a Starbucks then this one. When I take my order they are genuine, polite and overall seem like they care even though it's just coffee. There is a gentleman that works there with glasses and I am sorry I don't know his name but GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE! He is so sweet and sincere every single time I come...I love it! The baristas making the drinks always do it right and seem calm and collect even when there is a line. Nothing worst then a stressed out barista in a hurry and screwing up your drink because they didn't want people to wait. Yep, it's Starbucks. We all know how it tastes. This location though is rather nice, with a fair amount of seating and room. Paired with plenty of outdoor seating, I like this particular spot. Also, this one is clean and seems always to be clean which is nice. I expect more from the big chains, so yah! I can be snotty all I want about the coffee which is cool. I feel kind of lame but generally order a: tall iced coffee, only 1/4 of it coffee and 3/4 milk with a pump of sweetener. Granted I get the look like, "You mean milk with a tad of coffee?" *FROWN* Yep, I drink it like a kid and just never graduated to living on the stuff. The staff here is friendly though and upbeat. Ahh the hours/days/weeks I have spent here... ALL of the staff here are an absolute pleasure. No exceptions. Smiling every day at all hours. I have never been to such a happily run Starbucks (and I've been to countless all over the globe). There's always somewhere to sit (even when it's packed), there are plentiful power sockets and even when the line is waaaay out of the door, they get through it quickly, efficiently and you're with your coffee in under ten minutes. The guys will bring you your cake/croissant/panini fresh from their little oven to your table, and always have a little chat with you if it's not busy. Bathroom is always clean and the whole place is kept swept and tidy. It has it's regulars, who I'm sure feel the same way about this place, but perhaps haven't had the inclination to share the love with everyone here yet. A tip top Starbucks :) read more

Everyone from the manager down is amazing and I love having my order (albeit a boring one) remembered. I prefer hand crafted homemade espresso, but since my Italian espresso machine is busted, I split my time between Starbucks and Pete's, but only because they're conveniently everywhere. When I'm in the mood for a bold espresso, I'll visit Pete's, but otherwise, I like taking advantage of my Gold Rewards program at Starbucks and enjoying a mellow Carmel Macciato... it still wakes me up, and doesn't fry my taste buds (which I like to save for drinking delicious wine). You can always count on a superior experience at Starbucks, but don't count on top of the line coffee. Starbucks baristas tend to be sinisterly happy, and will usually listen to a pandering customer without smirking too hard. As with anything in the world, there are Starbucks and there are Starbucks. I am usually pretty happy with the Starbucks (run) Starbucks. The price you see on the wall is the price you pay. The people are invariably friendly interesting and smiling. The food and drinks are usually made perfectly, and if not they will smile and request to make you another one. Then there are the Target, Safeway, and @#$^#% Airport (run) Starbucks. They add tax to the drink price. They are not invariably anything except sometimes sullen and can't be bothered. And the drink making procedures escapes some of them completely. Fortunately this Starbucks is a Starbucks Starbucks. You only have to think about what you want to order. read more

Not sure why I'm reviewing a Starbucks... GOOD: - Friendly Starbucks folk. The standard experience... nice ambiance, they take credit cards, they have their spiffy rewards program, the line moves fast, and they have the great holiday drinks like peppermint hot chocolate and gingerbread latte. - I've never had issues finding street parking on this end of Castro. - Open til 10 or 11, which is reasonably late. BAD: - There's rarely ever seating inside -- I fail 9 times out of 10 -- and it's usually a bit chilly outside. This is more a grab-and-go kind of place. - You're in Downtown Mountain View within walking distance of Red Rock, Cafe Romanza, and Dana Street Roasting Company, which are all great independent coffee shops... seems lame to go to Starbucks. There's also a Peet's nearby. - It's Google WiFi, which is free but isn't too reliable. - The bathroom's not great. read more

I use the cafe primarily for its WiFi and for that reason I rated the Starbuck a 2. For some reason, this Starbucks' WiFi truly sucks. It is slow even when there is not a lot of people and some of the pages do not even load. Dana Street Cafe a few blocks down has much better WiFi and their coffee is better. But they do not provide sockets for charging. read more

One of the worst Starbucks I've been to. I was there tonight and the baristas were way too busy talking to each other to pay attention to customers. The man taking my order acted if I was some nuisance taking up the time he'd rather spend talking to his coworkers, and he was so busy talking to them he seriously messed up my drink, brought it over and realized it was wrong, and had someone else redo it. It got two stars though because when I was there earlier in the year I was introduced to the special coffees! I don't like leaving "mean" reviews but I hate when people are rude, especially employees to their customers. read more
