It's a nice Starbucks to sit in to catch up with friends, sit down for a bit, or work. The Wi-Fi isn't the best, but certainly isn't terrible either. I like their music playlist too. The baristas were kind and efficient! My order came out in less than 5 minutes. I had the Iced Ube Coconut Macchiato. All of the flavors are balanced and the presentation is good too (especially in a grande plastic cup). The toasted coconut bits were my favorite part. I've spent a lot of time in coffee shops, but the crew at this Blackhawk Plaza location really operates at a different level. I was there for about two hours today, and the "vibe" is easily one of the most positive I've encountered. The Standout Service: A massive shoutout to Eric. He was awesome--not only was he incredibly attentive during my first visit, but when I came back later in the morning for a second cup, he remembered my name without skipping a beat. It wasn't just me, either; I watched the staff greeting "regulars" by name all morning. It gives the place a genuine, family-like atmosphere that you don't always find in a busy Starbucks. The Details: * Proactive Management: You can tell the leadership cares. The manager was out on the floor every 30 minutes or so, personally cleaning the windows and door handles. I ended up waiting about 20 minutes for my order, which defeats the purpose of ordering ahead. While I was waiting, the woman calling out drinks was openly making fun of customers names. Pathetic customer experience. My very first morning coffee was ruined at Starbucks, Blackhawk, Danville. As my cup was being filled with coffee, the barista pulled it away, replaced it with another person's order, and made me look like my money was insignificant. Blackhawk Starbucks location is one of the worst as far as service goes. I ordered three Americanos and one bagel cream cheese waited for 20 minutes. They're not busy three people behind the counter. This Starbucks is the slowest, most inefficient store I have ever been to. Today was no exception, I ordered 2 lemonade drinks exactly the same, after waiting 25 minutes for the order, I get ONE! The barista goes to the cashier, she said she said there was a mistake and only one was ordered. I ask if I'm going to have to wait ANOTHER 25 minutes.... there was some ho hum discussion and after I paid for another drink they said they would make it. In my frustration I said quietly.... "This is the slowest Starbucks I've ever been to" The manager Kalela (sp) overheard this and said she didn't appreciate me being rude to her employees. RUDE..... I was just stating my opinion and frustration! When I mentioned the Starbucks across the street as being so much more efficient and friendlier...... she said: "Then go over there..... I hope you don't come back here..." I've been frequenting Starbucks for nearly half a century and this is the first complaint I've ever made. Under-rated location. Interior is modern and clean, the staff are well trained and friendly, and they never get my custom orders wrong. Here's another review about the filth that permeates this store. It's always filthy but, today, they took filth to a new level that even third-world countries would have to work to achieve. The coffee bar was out of napkins, milk and sugar. The garbage was flowing out of the hole and onto the coffee bar. As usual, the coffee bar was disgusting. This is always a problem and indicates the incompetence of the store and district managers. It would take fewer than 5 minutes to wipe down and stock that coffee bar, yet it's always dirty. Take a look at the tables, floor and food prep area and ask yourself if you should be ingesting anything made in this bastion of muck. Beyond the filth, their web order scheme is a disaster. You could walk into an empty store thinking that you'll be quickly served only to find 20 web orders in front of you with another 10 completed orders sitting on the counter. I don't want to web order and I don't want to wait around at the convenience of those who do, and then let their orders sit around for 10 minutes while I wait for my coffee. Starbucks sucks. This Starbucks is located in Blackhawk Plaza, just to the left as you go in the main entrance. If you know where it's located, it's hard to miss, but my wife and I did *not* know this, and went on somewhat of a wild goose chase as a result. Our GPS directed us to turn right as we entered the Plaza, and we went all through the rest of the Mall without seeing the Starbucks. But then we spied it: it was across the street (on the other side of Camino Tassajara)! We figured yelp's address information was a little out of date, and the Starbucks had moved. So we drove across the street and had an enjoyable coffee at what we thought was the Blackhawk Starbucks. We only learned the error of our ways later upon a return visit to Blackhawk Plaza! Moral of the story: pay attention to yelp, not your GPS! Like its sister location across the street, the Blackhawk Starbucks is large with abundant seating (I counted 11 tables and over 25 places to sit). There is some counter seating, two arm chairs and a sofa, and even some outside seating. If you're lucky (as we were), you might happen to see a certain Giants TV announcer enjoying his coffee while relaxing outside. Or take your coffee and stroll around the mall, which is more than beautiful, and perfect for a caffeine walkabout. We saw a number of people doing just that on this sunny afternoon. This place can get busy; there was a long line when we came earlier in the afternoon around lunchtime. But the line was gone in midafternoon, and we relaxed over a perfectly made coffee and pastry. With this Starbucks and the one across street, locals have an abundance of riches when it comes to coffee choices. One advantage of the other Starbucks is they have a Clover custom coffee brewer; I did not see a Clover in this Blackhawk Plaza location. My sisters and I took my son to the plaza so he can play and enjoy the duckies. So we got thirsty and decided to go to Starbucks. We walked in and while we were deciding what to get, my sister had a napkin to throw away so she walked to a garbage can a few feet away from us. All of a sudden, the employee behind the counter, a little boy, frantically chases her, waving his arms and yelling "MISS! MISS!!! YOURE NOT ALLOWED BACK THERE!!! That area is off limits!!" My sister, who's just sweet as pie, walked back confused but smiled and apologized and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't know." But I got annoyed by his attitude and unnecessary panic and asked, "the garbage can is off limits?" And he goes, "well there's a garbage can on that side and there's one on that side" (pointing across the store). I was like "right, but there's also one right next to us. I didn't realize garbage cans can be off limits." So he goes "yes but this AREA is off limits past this line (walks over there and dramatically draws an invisible barrier with his arms) and the garbage cans are pushed past that line." So of course, I'm irritated by his drama and not letting it go lol. So I was like "oh ok, is there a sign that says that area is off limits?" And he goes "well no but..." and I interrupted "so how are we supposed to know that that area is off limits?" And he didn't have anything to say... Everyone was looking at him like "chill" lol... so all three of us just walked out, left the plaza, and went across the street to the other Starbucks and enjoyed our drinks and food over there. Definitely will not be going to that Starbucks in the plaza again! *smh* Moral of the story: if you go there, make sure to ask if you're allowed to use the garbage can if you don't want a little boy chasing you and making you very uncomfortable. I feel compelled to post my experience at the Starbucks at Blackhawk Plaza. As I waited for my order to be completed, I stared at the signs everywhere stating that I have to show proof of vaccination if I wish to enjoy my coffee in their store. I realize it's a policy being enforced by the county so I can't blame Starbucks and I will spare everyone of my political rant. It's when my order was completed is where I have an issue. The barista called my name and then proceeded to pick up my drink from the top of the lid. The same lid I am suppose to be sipping my drink from. And the barista did this with every drink! I am not a "germ phobe" but there is something wrong here. So while it is considered unsafe to drink coffee inside the store unless showing proof of vaccination, it is apparently fine to sip coffee from a lid that has the barista's palm prints all over it. I don't give it 1 star only because I enjoy Starbucks coffee. That said I've had several bad experiences here from the staff primarily including the manager. My latest experience was par for the course and makes me believe that I'm judged racially here. I arrived and waited at an empty register with roughly 6 customers already seated. I waited for about 5 minutes before someone finally acknowledged my presence at the register. All the while the 4 employees walked back and forth and smiled cordially but never helped until finally one employee said "Oh how can i help you?" So I place my order of a grande Cafe Latte, a Double Espresso, and a grilled cheese. When my double espresso arrived I asked politely for whole milk. Was told "sure, hold on one second". I waited with my cup open for about 3 minutes while others came in behind me and asked for other things like ice water and a banana and they were helped immediately. Out of frustration I walked over to the condiments car and poured myself non-fat milk. I walk back over to spot where you pick up your order as they called me over for the Grilled Cheese. As I grabbed my food an older white lady asks for whole milk and was served immediately. I was frustrated I left without looking in the bag. In the bag was someone else's order and not my grilled cheese. This is the third time in a row I suffer poor service. The last time i was here, the manager came over and was of no help, instead made me feel ashamed of asking for my order to be corrected. I will no longer return to this location. read more

Months ago while I was pregnant, I had crave for caramel frapp everyday. So I mobile I ordered caramel ribbon crunch cream frapp, that was the happiest moment everyday. One day, the drink tasted like coffee based, so I walked back to the store and asked. A very young lady told me if I want the one without coffee, I should order the cream base, which was I order exactly. In mobile app you have all the order records. She ignored my response, and "offered" to remake my drink, ignoring all the customized items like coconut milk etc. Months later I'm breastfeeding, been ordering caramel crunch cream frapp everyday again. 3/10 times I would get it with espresso shots. Today I saw the same young lady again, again told me if I don't want coffee I should order the cream base. And she remade me one with lots of whipped cream at the bottom, and outside the cup was so sticky with caramel sauce. Funny. Girl, you definitely need better training. It's been months and you still can't read the mobile order label of cream base or coffee base frapp properly. For people who cannot take coffee it's a very serious issue. read more
