4+ This location is at the City Center - the shopping center that feels like San Ramon's de facto downtown area. If you've been to a Philz, then this place is pretty standard - and I mean that in the best way possible. Came here with my nephew to get some beverages because I needed a bit of a pick me up. There's always a good variety of specialty drinks as well as the staples you usually find in a coffee place. Service was friendly, we came in and I ordered the seasonal tiramisu beverage (hot). I thought it was really tasty and as delicious as expected from a Philz. This location could get a little hectic, since it's one of the most high foot traffic spots in the San Ramon area, so parking gets a little busy as well. If you don't mind walking a bit, I've always had luck in the parking structure near the top. read more

I usually order ahead on the app--it's convenient, and it's how I discover their new drinks. Most recently, I tried the Caramel Cardamom Karma and didn't make any modifications because I wanted to experience it as intended. Unfortunately, it was way too sweet for me. Given how pricey the drinks are, I actually got out of my car and went back inside to ask if they could remake it with less sweetness. The staff was accommodating, and the drink was definitely better the second time--still a bit sweet for my taste, but more drinkable. A couple days later, I went back and stuck with my usual Mint Mojito. I know what I like--no idea why I stray from it sometimes! I like to sit outside if possible and people watch. My husband and I went to this location for the first time today after eating udon. The baristas were rude. The cashier seemed annoyed that we were even placing an order. The barista Jenna needs to project her voice louder. Could not hear our orders being called out in a busy noisy coffee shop. Also she did not place the name labels facing out, so it was very difficult to tell where our orders were. We love Philz- it's our favorite Bay Area coffee chain. We frequent Philz often and have our regular orders (soul train for me, philtered soul for him- sweet and creamy for both). Unfortunately the coffee is not consistent and the last few times we've went, we've had horrible experiences- specifically with a barista named Alex. Every single time, the coffee comes out like coffee-scented water. We've asked him to have them made again and they're no different. I wish we were able, especially in the app but also in person, to select the barista we'd prefer. Coffees nowadays are not cheap and it's disappointing to frequent a popular chain that doesn't offer consistency and varied qualify depends on different baristas. Our favorite breakfast item is their sausage burrito. Soooo good with the cholula, but please make the portions bigger!! This should be twice the size for the price. read more

There's a lot of seating in here and free wi-fi, however not many outlets so definitely come with your devices charged. Lots of windows so it's well lit. He then pushed it back onto the counter, into hand spilling it on my hand and arm. He didn't apologize nor offer a napkin. When I asked for one, he nodded his head and said, by the register. I miss having a Philz in my neighborhood ever since they closed down all the stores in the East Coast. Since I was in the area, I knew I had to stop by at least once to get one of my favorite drinks. I got a MOCHA TESORA which wasn't too sweet and hit the spot. I liked that I could taste the espresso pretty well through the strong chocolate flavor. This is one of the newer and nicer Philz Coffee in the Bay. Lots of natural lighting from windows and actually spacious shop. Delicious drinks and clean shop. Solid customer service, but the wait is much longer than most average coffee shops since it's always busy. It usually takes 15-25 min on average from order to pick up. read more

I am in San Ramon everyday and I started going to this Philz when it first opened. It was good for a little while amd steadily started going downhill in both service and quality. It became so bad that I simply deleted the app. and got my fix elsewhere. After a couple years of this I finally tried one more time today and was reminded of why I stopped going here in the first place. The service is slow, and disorganized. The barista that is supposed to be making your drink is very rarely the person that puts your drink on the bar. The baristas are not courteous at all. I could look past all of this if the coffee was good/the order was correct but that is rarely the case. I do visit other philz locations from time to time and they don't seem to suffer from these problems as much. This location is a bit of a bummer and there's other options around that I don't need to deal with it. read more

I stopped by this Philz Coffee location hoping to get work done and it was honestly not the best location. Though they have free, fast WiFi and plenty of tables, most of the tables were occupied when I arrived. Only one table was located near a power outlet and the group that was seated there looked like they had been camped out there all day. While the background music in the cafe is not particularly loud, the sound of conversation from so many different groups is definitely a distraction if you're trying to get deep-work done inside. That said, there are a few tables outside that are significantly quieter if you're trying to hop on a Zoom call. I would definitely recommend bringing along your noise-cancelling headphones along if you intend to sit around for a while indoors. There is a single bathroom stall near the back and while it's not the cleanest, it gets the job done. Overall, if you're in this area and are looking for a spot to get some work done, I would walk a few shops down and head to Fieldworks instead. read more

I've been to Philz a couple of times. And their coffee and service has been top notch both times. The Iced Honey Haze with whole milk is my favorite. And the flavor profile for the Mint Mojito is weird, but good. When u pick up ur drink from the coffee bar the Barista will ask u to take a sip to make sure the drink is to your liking... and they are serious about remaking it for u if it's not right. read more
