Came here 2 days in a row and notice the following: The lady was handling cash and bagging bread with the same glove with customer. The next day, same lady was ringing my order and had a glove in one hand but she was touching the gloves with the other hand while touching the computer. Then she takes the hand with the gloves bagging my bread. Lots of cross contamination. Food tongs for customers were not washed and reused! Food trays are not wash. I ended up using the parchment paper to grab the bread. I think the workers need to be train on food safety. It is not safe for workers to be handling cash and transactions using the same glove like this with food. read more

I discovered the smaller size Anderson Bakery in the market place of San Ramon . Which is the original Anderson bakery inside Stoneridge mall . There are all kinds of goodies inside . Japanese bread like melon pun and sesame black bun . Fresh cream cakes and fruit pies . Meat pies like beef empanada. There are drinks and other snacks too . The bakery is not warm , probably due to few customers, unlike the one in Stoneridge mall . But this is at a very convenient location and save us time to drive and then look for parking in Stoneridge . Lady staff is nice . She is the only one there so she gets busy in the back baking . It is next to a Trader Joe. You can use their restroom if you have to . I would like to try the prime rib sandwich next time ! read more

Always a pleasure going to Anderson bakery for their yummy breads and sandwiches. We love this market place location and this time we tried the spinach and mushroom empanda and chicken curry pan and both tasted really good - wish we had warmed up a little more. Highly recommended!! read more

The turkey avocado swiss, BBQ chicken & turkey fresh mozzarella are really good! $10-$13 for a sandwich that I can get two meals out of is a great deal. Ana, the manager there always goes out of her way to make me feel welcome and makes sure that my order was done right. I paid $7.50 for a Too Good To Go surprise bag and what I received was shocking--everything was stale, dried out, and clearly past its prime. The food was so old and unappetizing that I had to throw it all in the trash. This is not about expecting gourmet quality at a discount--it's about basic food safety and integrity. I was so excited to see this restaurant so close to work but was very disappointed. The turkey avocado Swiss sandwich was just bad. The sourdough bread was very hard and tough to eat. The turkey was slimy and flavorless and there was almost no Swiss cheese or avocado. I even thought they had forgotten it. The one bite of cheese I did get tasted off. The sandwich was quite large but just not tasty at all. I was going to order an iced tea but they were already made and the ice had melted. No thanks. The store is set up as self serve style. You grab a tray and tongs and select what you want from the displays. I usually only go to get the white bread and most recently I tried their sourdough. Both came out really I about $12. Although white bread isn't the healthiest for you I really like the consistency of the one here it's really chewy and smells divine. They don't bake the bread at the store it gets shipped into the locations and stored in the displays. I wish they did bake onsite as it would have made the store smell like fresh baked bread lol I can't speak to all of their little pastries because I didn't pick any up but the breads are stellar for sandwiches. Not really that impressed. It is kinda over priced for what you get. Got the cheesy pesto bread, cream cheese Danish, and a soft bread roll. They are sorta competing with 98 degree bakery, Paris Baguette chains. It was just ok. They are located in the same center as Trader Joe's near the Cold Stone ice cream shop. Parking was pretty easy. I've been to the other locations but this is a new setup to pick your own pastries. This location is much smaller/cramped. One table inside and rest are outside. I was in the neighborhood and just wanted to try it. I got my usual, jalapeño bread and clam chowder soup to go. The lady at the counter was sweet. PASS on the clam chowder soup next time. It looked disgusting. I opened it, it was clumpy and oily. I don't know why but I tried it and it was sour and spit it out immediately. Good God, we needed a place like this in San Ramon. (And, how convenient, practically next to Trader Joe's which I go to 3x/week!) Desserts, breads, sandwiches, salads, soups, coffees -- oh my! About a dozen other locations, I've only been to the one at Stoneridge Mall, Pleasanton. Comparing this one to that, it's not as impressive, and is much quieter. But what they do have is bodacious, and quite delicious at that. I shared a half sandwich with the gf, a turkey/swiss/avocado on a wheat sourdough. It was of the highest quality, loved the turkey and the bread, so delish, and at an amazing price, $9.75. I also tried the cheese danish [4.5 stars], dulce de leche roll [3.5 stars], and the strawberry shortcake [3.0 stars]. Not amazing overall, but still, very worthy. PS. Found this place yelping while hanging out at Bishop Ranch Center. This bakery is not too far from the city center. It's located next to Trader Joe's. This bakery has a variety of different pastries. I ended up getting the pesto cheese bread, the fruit pastry, and walnut cheese pastry. All of them tasted very good to me. The fruit pastry was good because all of the fruits were fresh and also the dough had those nice air gaps made it soft. The walnut pastry was decent and you can taste the walnut in the dough. The pesto pastry is better when warmed up, though I feel that the cheese could have been more flavorful or at least had more saltiness but instead was more neutral. The service here is ok. The two people that were there the day I went were friendly, though for one English is their second language and it was hard for them to understand what I was saying when I tried to converse with them. But that's ok. Prices are average and typical of what other bakeries in the Bay Area are pricing pastries these days. BTW they open at 8AM which is a bit inconvenient for me because I typically like to start my day earlier and I would end up not being able to go here until I get off work. Overall all the pastries were good, probably not the best I've had but for the area and for the convenience being not too far off the freeway I'd say this place is very decent. read more

Hmmmmm...what a disappointment. Staff was very rude. My hubz went yesterday and purchased a few items. This afternoon, we came by to support a new business again. The two female employees were rude and they were out of most of their items. I understand it was a little later; but, the small interaction I had was a disappointment. I will say understand your customers and demographics. They were friendly to two older haole ladies; but, dismissive of others. That is not tolerable. I'm happy to see the Japanese brand Andersen Bakery here in San Ramon. This store is located at Market Place on Bollinger Canyon. They have Japanese style bread variety such as an pan (red bean paste bun) and curry pan, but also carry a lot of other general baked goods too. The matcha brioche was extremely inviting. Their fruit pies are really good - they gave us a free sample to try their delicious fruit pies and we totally fell for it and bought one. I also really like their Cream Cheese Walnut - so cheesy, creamy, nutty and sweet. Staff was very nice and friendly, and the customer service here was top notch. Highly recommend. read more

I ordered a California BLT with mozzarella (paid extra for it) and got a sad little sandwich with two slices of bacon and no mozzarella. My husband ordered a seasonal sandwich with sourdough but they had none of that so had to switch to white bread. I also ordered a tomato ravioli soup. When i picked up my order, i was told it was unavailable (after i had already paid), so i went with the clam chowder...don't order, not great! Super disappointed. Just opened today and it's wonderful! Guava Panna cotta! Fresh bread lots of it interesting flavors and standard loaf available too. Great addition to local area to have a bakery that has daily fresh bread, croissants, and even jalapeño cheese bread. The space is really light and bright and is a good option for sandwiches. Take your business elsewhere and go to either Paris Baguette or Tous Les Jours. The shelves were empty.
