First time at country waffles and probably the last time i bring my family here. The service was not bad but it was not fast either, our waiter of course kept making sure we were okay while we waited for food. It was hard to enjoy the time, it was quite a busy morning and it was very loud, also very tight space. For me at least it's not my cup of tea. My wife and son were unbothered. My family enjoyed their food, I did too, until i reached the center of my waffle, it was raw. A decent experience that turned sour pretty quickly. Have been several times before and it was OK. This time was the last time. Food was just acceptable. Service was bad, possibly language problems. Asked for a glass of water and they brought tea - that sort of thing. On the next table was a group with a man wearing a t-shirt with the most offensive slogan that I cannot repeat here even with asterisks. Just horrible. Any decent establishment would have asked him to cover this up or turn it inside out, or leave. I have been to a Country Waffle before but never this one. The Dublin location is small but cozy. They are very quick and efficient. Since it is a small location, the noise level is a little high but tolerable. Hubby had the chicken and waffles with sugar free syrup. (Darn diabetes). I had a California omelette. Couldn't figure out where to go for lunch. Wanted something quick and decided to go to Country Waffles. Been there for plenty of breakfasts. So we get there and not a lot of people, our very friendly waitress sat us and took our drinks order, great then we were pleasantly surprised by the lunch menu! Service is definitely slow. The server was very friendly, however, did not see him often. Would see him walking around to other tables, not too attentive to ours. Brunch items we order tasted pretty good. Definitley a very good value to money compared to Denny's, Ihop, and other big chains breakfast places. Too expensive for what you get. The ambiance is spooky themed for halloween which was a cute touch but it's generally the same as always, nothing to complain about. Service was pretty okay, but didn't check on us through the meal. I got the florentine eggs benedict with avocado, for $20 I was pretty underwhelmed. We have been here many times, but never again. The last time we came, the food was just not good. It did not taste good, and it did not feel good. This was very different than the previous three times we were there, when the food and the service was very good. I ordered the Fish and Chips. A third of the plate was covered with chopped pale lettuce with some shreds of tomato and green onions. No dressing, no flavoring. The french fries were unseasoned and had little flavor. The three small pieces of fish were mostly a thick brown batter that enclosed them, and also had no real flavor. I do not know what happened, but we were very unhappy with our meals. I visited this restaurant on the 22nd of June after picking my friend up at the Oakland airport. We both enjoyed our food so my friend wanted to go back again before leaving to fly back home to Southern, CA. We came back Sunday, July 6th to have breakfast again, what a HUGE mistake! Customer service was lacking BIG TIME and when I asked to speak to the manager, I was told the manager wasn't there. I ordered a garden omelette (it was UNCOOKED) in the middle. Raw egg is not appealing to me. We were asked when we were first seated what we wanted to drink. We both ordered water and my friend ordered coffee. No coffee was ever served. As our water glass was going down from us drinking our water, nobody ever came by to ask if we would like a refill. Nobody came by with a pitcher or did they ever serve my friend the coffee she ordered. Finally after waiting quite a while, my friend waved a waitress over and asked if she could have a refill on her water. I figured they would bring a water pitcher over and I would ask for more water, but the waitress picked up my friend's glass and took it away and poured more water into her glass. When she came back to bring the glass of water I asked for more water and the waitress looked at me as if I had asked her to do some kind of monumental task. The restaurant wasn't that terribly busy so I was surprised at the poor customer service. I highly doubt that I will ever return to this restaurant again. Classic diner the likes of which are fast disappearing. Don't expect chic or trendy here. Food and atmosphere are old fashioned grandma's house and it shows. Lots of actual grandma and grandpa diners. Sort of like a homestyle version of IHOP or Dennys. Loved the hashbrowns. Ordered crispy and they were perfect. Well browned on the outside, tender on the inside. Loved the bone-in ham. Very rare on menus nowadays and generous portion to boot. Scrambled eggs and pancakes were fluffy. Also good was the plain brewed coffee. Sometimes just want hot coffee, nothing fancy. Guzzled down the free and frequent refills. Mom loved her hot chocolate. Not watered-down but very chocolatey. Drinks were hot but some of the food could have been hotter. Also didn't care for the corned beef hash from a can. Even with the outside sear, overall texture was mushy. Really really love this place! They've got standard dinner fare in a cozy all-biiths setting, that's thankfully been redone on the inside since some of the pictures from 2-3 years ago. But I love the flavor of the menu specials -- chorizo omelettes, Baja and Mexi specials, that always have plenty of veggies to add to your typical meat, eggs, potato breakfast plate. The chorizo omelette pictured here is my favorite. They've also got great fresh coffee and french vanilla creamer at the table, even though the don't have newer trendy iced coffees and espresso beverages, that's fine for me. One warning though - the pre-pandemic photos must've been under old management or something, because nowadays the potato side is far less crispy and sauteed with peppers and onions. You add ketchup and it's still yummy and frankly much healthier - but that's what I went there for so at first was a bit disappointed. Finally, the size of their menu is excellent. They've always got plenty of breakfast and lunch options, and I've had their BLT with soup and salad, which was a nice light lunch. We like to go on Saturday mornings, as it's not too crowded like other breakfast diners. read more

I'm glad that even after not having been there in a loooong time, they've stayed true to their great food. I tried the hangover this time around. I liked it. First of all good luck calling in to order a Togo order. I called in and the lady says please hold but doesn't put me on hold and I can hear her asking someone else to take the phone order and she said no, and the lady I was talking to said me either. Then just let me hear all the kitchen noise for approx 10 minutes. I hung up and called back and a constant busy signal. My dad tried several times and finally got through, gave the phone to me to place the order and again she doesn't know how to put the order in and gives me to another person, a man. He takes the order and tells me 15 minutes. On arrival the parking lot and inside is packed (11:30am on a Sunday). I go up to the cashier and tell them my name and they can't find the order. The young man I was talking to was trying to track down the order and eventually finds it. Once I get back to the hotel, the food was correct and hot, no side of jam as requested. Mother order Biscuits and gravy with bacon cooked as ordered. Father ordered a senior breakfast with 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns and sourdough bread, he said eggs were small but everything otherwise was good. I ordered The Joe. scrambled eggs, hamburger, spinach, mushrooms, cheese & onions, country potatoes and sourdough toast. Despite the so so reviews, I decided to give it a go since it was nearby and I was craving diner food. Sometimes bad diner food can be so good! But I have to agree with the bad reviews on this one. Salad was bleh, chicken was dry, and waffles were ok. I think it's time this old diner upped their food game. Nothing tasted good. I love this place! I don't understand the bad reviews at all. I went there on Saturday for lunch around 12:45 pm and decided to order breakfast food. I ordered the Porky Pig Skillet which came with a side of Half Pancake. The Skillet was wonderful; it was hearty and filling and delicious. It came with ham, bacon, sausages and eggs on hash brown (or country potatoes if you wish) topped with a generous amount of shredded cheese. And I thought it came with either a toast or a biscuit but they offered also a side of half pancake, so of course I had to go with that.... :) the pancake was just okay, it was really just the shell, the inside was super hollow, it seemed like they didn't put enough pancake batter there. The pancake was topped with butter and came with maple syrup. The skillet was less than $10 which was awesome. The service was great.
