Croissant breakfast sandwich with sausage, egg, and pepper Jack cheese

What a pleasant surprise! We've been passing by this place for some time and during our morning walk we decided to finally try this place and so glad we did! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is so clean and well equipped.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were so kind and welcoming and provided us their favorite recommendations based on our interests. We ended up getting a breakfast croissant sandwich and a pork chop banh mi with an iced Vietnamese coffee. Everything was delicious! I'm so glad all of my favorites are in one place and this will definitely be a staple of ours.

Pretty delish! Stopped by to pick up a quick bite and it was a pretty solid turkey sandwich. Would come back to try another bite with cream cheese next time! Also, very nice people who work there.

    Perfectly balanced.

My 4th time here. The bánh mì was perfection again--buttery baguette - crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, fresh crisp veggies, and just the right kick. THE BEST BAHN MI in the East bay hands down. Paired it with an iced Vietnamese coffee that was bold, sweet, and dangerously addictive. Service is top notch and just as lovely as the food is delicious. I cannot recommend this spot enough. Skip Starbucks. Skip Jersey Mikes. Support this wonderful small-business instead.

The best bagel shop in the entire Tri-Valley. The best service, the best ingredients, and the best flavors. I honestly feel like I could live to 100 if I get to eat your food every day. Starting my morning with your delicious croissant sausage egg sandwich makes "working hard for a better life" feel so real and achievable. Every time I walk in and hear "Welcome back! What can I get started for you? No rush, take your time," those simple, caring little phrases fill my whole day with kindness and good energy. Thank you for being such a wonderful presence in our community.

Oops pork banh mi, half way point!

    - parking in plaza plenty - such a friendly smile every time - prices reasonable - food always tasty - croissant sandwich nice and flaky - pork banh mi: with mayo, bread has the perfect crunch and I would get this again and again

Wow, so this is long overdue but Bagel Cafe has some of the BEST bagels I have ever had! I am a bagel freak and always on the hunt for a good one and this is definitely at the top of my list right now. My sister and I stopped by on our way to the bay during Memorial Day weekend and I am so glad she found Bagel Cafe. It's located off Main St in a plaza that is easy to miss if you're not from the area. We had to loop back but there's plenty of parking which I'm always a fan of. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside of the cafe is clean and spacious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There are many options on the menu to pick from but I always stick to my go to unless I'm really in the mood to try something new. The service was wonderful, the owner was there and it's definitely true what they say - she always has a smile on her face! Our bagels were brought out rather quickly and after we tried our first bites, my sister and I were so content and happy. I say this often but I will definitely be back when I'm in the area!

Bagel Cafe is an Isla Vista classic that never disappoints! I have been. couple times and am surprised that I have yet to leave a review! I try something different each time I go, but I would have to say one of my go-to orders is a toasted garlic bagel with chipotle smear! SO GOOD! Service is super quick and the people working are always so helpful. The Emma and a classic BLT of pesto bagel always hit the spot too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A chill, laid back spot to hit the get your day started or for an afternoon pick me up![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

By the time I remembered to take a photo, I was almost done with my sandwich. This is the turkey croissant sandwich.

It's always a pleasure to support and dine at Bagel Cafe. The ladies that work here are always so friendly and hospitable. The sandwiches are HUGE, so my Nana and I shared it. We ordered a turkey sandwich with all the fixins' on a croissant. The turkey and proteins are so fresh. The croissant is so light and just perfect. I think it is baked fresh daily. We enjoyed our turkey sandwich. Also available is a big assortment of bottled sodas, juices and teas. This place is frequented by locals and the ladies always remember their regulars by name. I will definitely return. I love the food, freshness and hospitality.

My sister's favorite bagel spot! She's become quite a regular and I tag along with her a few times :) I've really enjoyed each experience going to this bagel cafe. I typically get the salami sandwich on an everything bagel - they definitely give you the most in these bagels!! They make sure to stack it so you're really getting your fill. I think the bagel is soft on the inside and a little crispy on the outside which is perfect. All of the ingredients flow really well together, as the ratio is great, and I love eating these bagels every time. The customer service is absolutely so wonderful and sweet! So friendly every time we go, and they are just so fun to talk to! I always feel welcomed right when I put my first step through the door. They have a few seats and the interior is comfortable. Parking is not an issue as well, since they have a lot. Definitely will be coming back! Excited to try even more bagels :)

The menu has something for everyone.

I have been coming into this amazing shop every day for the last two weeks sometimes TWICE A DAY! Everything is so fresh and full of flavor not to mention filling. I am so spoiled to come into this shop to be greeted by the sisters who say my name with the biggest smiles on their faces. I love all the freshly baked sweet treats, especially the cherry sticks and the beautifully baked banana walnut muffins. My family is big fans of their special sandwiches and teas.

You can tell when someone truly cares about what they do, and it shows in every bite. The flavors were bold, perfectly balanced, and somehow even better than I imagined. It felt like every detail was done with passion and pride. And the person behind it all? Super kind, welcoming, and clearly talented. Watching someone put that much love into their cooking is rare these days. I walked in expecting a normal meal... and left completely blown away. If you ever get the chance to try their food, do it--you'll understand why I'm still talking about it!

The lox croissandwich was good, however, I asked for tomato because I needed an added flavor profile and the saltiness of the lox made me want more hydration in the bite. I usually don't like capers but today they were fine. Croissant was toasted nicely. Service: excellent. A pretty woman greeted us quickly and because it was such a beautiful day, she was coming out to bring our meals and drinks back and forth. She brought us our drinks. My drink was supposed to be with almond milk but I suspected it may have been regular milk. Although I disclose that I rarely order black sesame; it was very very sweet so I ended up not taking a chance and drinking it. My husband and daughter had vanilla lattes and lemonade with their breakfast bacon sandwich and salad. My daughter wanted to go there again today. (Posting a day later). The ambiance was very nice. I had never been to this downtown area. We were across the street from a really cute historic gas station. Great seating for people watching and enjoying the warming heat of summer on the patio. Really lovely experience at Bocado.

Not sure how long this burger joint has been here, but I've always known of it by passing by many, many times over the course of 30+ years. But only tried just recently. There's seating both inside and outside. Inside the walls are totally covered with pictures of classic cars/trucks and interestingly enough of horse racing culture, since the county fairgrounds are super nearby. Pics of horses from past generations and their jockeys and owners. I thought that was an interesting local imprint. Mushroom Swiss Burger ($11/4*) So 'giant burger' is in their name. Even though the patty itself isn't monstrous, maybe a 1/3 lb at most, it is quite sizeable, much bigger than most fast food versions. After scarfing down my burger, I'd say I was slightly fuller than eating a double at In & Out. But this was also almost double on what I'd pay at In & Out. But since I'm a quintessential old schooler myself, I'll pay this price of admission here, no prob. The Burger Patty: Nice and juicy. Good quality and just flat top griddled. I had to season my patty with a little salt n pep from those packets. There's a special sauce that flavors the sandwich, a mayo/ketchup blend is my guess. The Produce: They use shredded lettuce and everything was quite fresh. Just very messy as lots of things will spill out on each bite. The cooked mushrooms were a little light but still noticeable in most bites. The Cheese: The 'swiss' labeled is basically a white colored American cheese, super soft and gooey. Not my fave, but a burger may be the only time I welcome American cheese. The Bun: They use basic sesame American buns. Super factory quality, but again for the basic American burger experience, I think this is fine. Just wished they toasted it more, as it became a mushy mess after even just halfway through. I'd say the bun was my least favorite aspect of this burger experience. Onion Rings ($7ish/5*): My friend said he saw them use a frozen product to drop in the fryer. But damn this was one of the best onion rings I've ever had from a burger joint. Super crisp, just oily enough and no artificial factory flavor. I could taste the onion and the crisp batter, and that batter stayed crisp for the whole meal, even after it cooled a bit. These are a must here. Fries: I tried a small handful from my friends bag as we were sharing our sides. They are of medium thickness and they crisp them nice. They also salt them with a good shake, and the oil they use seemed very clean. Even at Mc Donalds I'll often get grossed out by fries cooked in old oil. Blech! Not here, quite proper. I'm throwing them a fiver, just to show that a fiver doesn't have to be mind-blowing or life changing. Just has to fulfill expectations with a smile, and make me leave satisfied and happy. Check, check...and check!
