After an incredible road trip to Redwood National Park and San Francisco, we were heading home and craving fresh donuts and good coffee. We searched online for a donut shop off I-580 East and found Donut Basket because of its outstanding reviews. I'm happy to say those reviews were absolutely right! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine smiles and friendly service. The staff took the time to recommend their breakfast sandwiches and let us know that fresh donuts had just come out around 10 a.m. We couldn't resist trying the ube donuts, red velvet donuts, and cronies and every single one was amazing! The donuts were incredibly soft, fresh, and full of flavor. The breakfast sandwiches were just as delicious, and the coffee deserves a special mention. We're pretty picky when it comes to coffee, but this was one of the best cups we've had in a long time. What really made our visit memorable was the atmosphere. We originally planned to grab our food and continue our drive, but the welcoming staff made us want to stay and enjoy our breakfast there. While we were eating, several locals came in, and it was clear they had built real relationships with the staff. They even shared how much they love coming here, which says a lot about the place. To top it all off, the staff surprised us with some filled donut holes to try, and they were absolutely delicious! If you're traveling to or from San Francisco, we highly recommend making a stop at Donut Basket. Everything is fresh, delicious, and there's an impressive variety to choose from. The outstanding customer service made the experience even better. We'll definitely be back next summer during our annual Northern California road trip. I ordered apple fritters(3.25), French crueller (2.75), blueberry old fashioned (2.20). -definitely tasted fresh. Cruellar melted in my mouth, fritter crunchy texture, apple essence, old fashioned slightly dense, cake like. -not over sugared like others. Quick, courteous, efficient service. Flavas lacked pronounced definitions. Still ok. 4ish stars for now. If I can get up early one day, it'll be 5 stars to taste the super sellers. read more

So many close by, heard rumor they're related, this has been many years- they're all open even in poor economic times! Service is quick, atmosphere- it's still a donut shoppe. But years smaller and Landlord must of worked with them, expanded next door for more seating. Why i lose my taste buds when eating and a poor review but they all taste the same!. Cozy, no frills "donuts plus" shop with warm, friendly service and good quality donuts and other offerings. This first time was definitely focused on trying their donuts, including excellent versions of chocolate twist, maple twist, cinnamon roll, ube chocolate, and pink sprinkles glazed donuts, as well as glazed donut holes. While not a donut, we had to try their croissants which were large, flaky and buttery. The apple fritter had great flavor but was just a bit heavy in texture for our preference. Saw this doughnut shop with 4.8 star rating so I have to try. And yes it was definitely an above 4 star spot. Asked for best seller as it was our first try, was told the crumb cake(?) and the original glazed. So we got one sugar crumb cake, one original glazed and one chocolate glazed. To top it off we also got 6 doughnut holes. The doughnuts tasted similar to Krispy Kreme but bigger and a bit less airy. The cake was wonderful and not too sweet, like sugar coated croissant but a bit drier. We went 30 minutes before closing so it was not busy. The things that I like and appreciate about this donut shop are that there's quite a bit of variety, and they also serve sandwiches smoothies and custom coffees. These donuts are impressive to look at, and they also taste really good. I think the chocolate flavor needs some more cocao. They have all of the classics and some very unique ones as well. What I didn't like was that it was a very slow going pace. I was taking them to an event, and since we were second in line, I really did not expect the whole experience to take so long. Young man helping us did not seem completely dialed in. That being said, I like to see the youth working rather than staring at their phones so I hope that he picks up the pace or sharpens his skills with more time and experience. My daughter grabbed two of our donuts from the counter, but the bag was lying sideways, and when she picked it up, the donuts fell on the floor. The staff didn't say anything and we threw those donuts away. I'm used to places that have more of a mom and pop attitude. I know the young man at donut King would have given me two free donuts after he watched my donuts fall to the floor. The donuts were very popular at our swim meet, and they didn't last very long. I came across this place because my sister was visiting and when we did our usual Starbucks run!! We didn't want Starbucks pastries.. this donut shop is ran and owned by a husband and wife who are so kind and have great customer service!! The mini glazed croissant is a must try!! We got 4 doughnuts (a pink cake, a chocolate cake with sprinkles, a chocolate twist, and a glazed buttermilk...not all for me, don't judge) for $13 which includes tip. The chocolate cake wasn't bad it just wasn't what I was expecting. Not a particularly strong chocolate flavor. This is what the missing star is for. It should be a basic solid doughnut at every shop IMO. The buttermilk was good, I didn't sample any others. They were open at 11:50 with a case full of every flavor which is really nice. Driving through from out of town and got it in my head that I needed a donut (it's been a while). We stopped in and my husband got an egg bacon and cheese croissant sandwich (he said it was good) and we also got one cake donut with white icing and these dot-like sprinkles and one maple bar. I didn't quite like the taste of the dot sprinkles, but the cake base was okay. The maple bar I thought was too much dough, not enough maple icing.
