I was looking for a tiny cafe/coffee shop with specific items for my temporary special diet and ChaiAum had it here. Lots of public parking spaces on the huge lot conveniently located. It's nothing fancy, but very casual, cozy, soothing with a good music soundtrack, and it had two good sized public restrooms available. Nepali Himalayan flavors/East Asian Indian owner Rani. We sparked each other with common topics and she was very inviting and polite as we chatted. I knew I had to try them out. Good service as needed. Toss your own trash. For this type low key casual tiny cafe/small business, it's actually legit and good quality here. Good menu options. I had the delicious avocado toast on sourdough. 5/5 outstanding. It turned out very fresh and perfect for my tastebuds. Simple and good in presentation. I ordered a hot cup 12oz. Organic Golden Tumeric Ginger Tea and ended up with a large teapot to enjoy. Perfect taste. Loved it. I purchased a bag of organic chamomile flower herbal tea leaves from the gift shelf with my order. Soothing. Inexpensive. All beverages/pastries/teas/coffees/boba drinks looked good and I'm sure they taste very good too. Overall experience was very good. Again, not fancy and not luxury here. Plenty of seats and tables indoors and outdoors. All positive. Himalayan food items are worth trying. Amazing. Looks like a place worth stopping when convenient in Pleasanton, CA. Nice. Props to Lauren for handling the whole cafe by herself during the day back in February. She was friendly to talk to and offered a complimentary Chocolate Jaggery cookie for being patient with her. I came here to try their most popular menu: Himalayan Chiya (hot) w/ almond milk- less sweet, not too much spice, yet comforting to drink since I had a dry throat earlier. Frankie Wrap in Paneer- flaky Himalayan wrap with paneer bits, and vegetables paired with the green sauce, which was my favorite. Nimki- it's like salted pita chips that I recommend dipping it in Chai Chocolate Jaggery Cookie- chocolate chip cookie with brown sugar topping- it was too sweet that I had to take some brown sugar away unless paired well with plain hot chai If you don't want to deal with people while working/studying, come from noon to 3 pm. Cute and cozy chai shop that's tucked away in the BACK of Pleasanton. It's not a place you would stumble upon. But if you live in the neighborhood, I would definitely stop by. I was welcomed warmly and the lone staff member Lauren enthusiastically explained the menu options. I decided upon the traditional options which did not dissappoint: Himalaya Chiya Masala Tea - refreshing, mildly traditionally spiced Himilayan Frankie Wrap - lovely baked roti stuffed with delicate potatoes and spices along with a sprinkle of fresh greens Chocolate Jaggery Chip Cookie - perfectly baked with a traditional sweet sugary topping The food and tea were delicious and the ambiance is perfectly welcoming. The interior was bright, modern, and comfortable. Soft ethnic music played in the background. There were several smaller tables as well as a central seating area with cozy armchairs and a low table next to a welcoming wall filled with games and books to borrow at leisure. Great customer service here with plenty of options available. I love that it's very spacious and there's one the of seating. Kind of a hidden gem in the area and located in a plaza. New cafe alert!! ChaiAum is located in a quiet corner in the Raley's plaza on the opposite side of Jim's. I loved the space and friendly staff; definitely stop by if you happen to be in the downtown Pleasanton area and want tea specialities! I believe their Himalayan Chiya is their most popular menu item. The owner (I think she was, lovely lady) explained that they make the chai fresh every two hours because it tastes the best that way. Unfortunately that means they dump what doesn't sell :( It was in the 90s when I visited so I opted for the iced chai latte, but you bet I'll be back for the hot version. Himalayan Iced Chiya Latte ($6.50 for 12oz): I normally drink my tea and coffee without milk to get max flavor, but I quite liked the Chiya taste. Oat milk (extra $1) was recommended but I went with the whole milk at no cost lol Very cute serene area with board games and relaxing music. I tried the Himalayan chai with almond milk. It wasn't sweet but it was tasty. It was about $8 including tax for a 12 oz. I think I'll try the matcha next time since they had 3-4 choices on the menu. Came in after lunch and ordered an Iced Chai with Oatmilk- medium sweet and a chocolate chip cookie for my kiddo. Got my order pretty quick. The chai wasn't strong enough for me but still had a good taste to it. I'm more of a HOT DIRTY CHAI typa girl but it was hella hot outside and I needed something cold. This place is cute, but it took over 20 minutes for 2 drinks. One being a drip coffee and the other the house chai. I think they need more staff since there was only one lady working. Every party ahead of us went up and asked how long it would be... which should have been a sign. It's good, but if you don't have a lot of time I would skip it. read more

The chaiya and the hibiscus mango cold brew were good! I tried the veg puff and it was a lot of puff with little filling and it wasn't fully warmed so I didn't enjoy it that much. The chaiya took a while so it was a longer trip than expected. I am curious to see how the cafe is in a few months because it felt like they were still getting their groove. I needed a pick me up and I didn't want to drink coffee in the afternoon. ChaiAum caught my eye and the chiya did the trick. The owner explained the organic ingredients and the Nepal style tea's level of detailed preparation. I hadn't planned to come into this cafe but I had scheduled a meeting with my daughters tutor and we tried the Peet's at Ralphs becasue the Pleasanton Library says they prefer we keep the noise down. When we arrived at Peet's it was too loud so we walked around and found this cafe that was recently opened. I ordered a chai with oatmilk and light ice and immediately as soon as I sipped I could taste the native and unique spices of Nepal. The Himalayan Chai is similar to a Nepoli Chai and Lauren suggested I try the Nimki becaseu it is a staple Nepal. I thought it was a perfect choice! I am not one to leave a bad review and would avoid it if possible . To add to it I love supporting small business and seeing them thrive . But unfortunately this place since it has opened has kinda just been disappointing. The only incident I'd like to talk about here which has finally made me not want to ever go back is the fact that we recently got their chicken momos , which were basically straight out of the freezer and just simply reheated , as I saw barista do so. As it was a to go order when I got home and we opened the box the top part was all burnt brown and the whole skin of the momos were too brittle to even chew . When I went back to give feedback so they are aware and not repeat it , I was told by the owner that the barista may have not known how to prep the said food item ???like really then why would you leave that person in charge and the second thing she told me which was really off putting was that "we atleast get to eat the filling" . Like is that the kind of food they want to serve which she very sweetly put across as " gourmet " . I hope they learn and improve upon their food service and also how they deal with paying customers when they mess up . read more

I was happy to see ChaiAum open up in my neighborhood and bring in some more variety. I walked over with my young kids the other weekend and ordered a couple of Chais, hot chocolate, strawberry milkshake, salmon toast, spiced toast, and chocolate jaggery chip cookie to go. I figured it take a bit of time to make the food, but not too long since there was only one other group in there and they already had their drinks/food. So to pass that time I took my kids to Raley's to do a bit of grocery shopping. When we got back to ChaiAum, I was kind of surprised the order wasn't ready yet, and we waited around for longer than it took us to go to Raley's and back till it was ready. I'll chalk this up to a new business "figuring things out." When our order finally came, I was surprised the chais and hot chocolate didn't come with lids, nor was I told where to find them. I had to look for them myself. Additionally I don't know how the owner expected a single adult with two young kids and a stroller to walk out needing to hold four drinks without any drink carrier. Not very considerate. Luckily the drinks/food were much better than the wait and service! One thing I thought was a bit weird was ChaiAum advertising boba with their chai, however once I drank the chai, it immediately made sense. Their chai is on the sweeter side, and sits between a milk tea and a spiced tea. You still get a nice spiced flavor, but it's definitely sweet. My wife and I enjoyed them. The hot chocolate with little marshmellows was a hit with my older child, and she devoured it on the walk home. The strawberry milkshake was rather unremarkable, and I bet their mango one is better. My wife and I both thought the salmon and spiced toasts were good. Both had rich and vibrant colors and looked great. One common theme between both of them were they were a bit too salty. There were these pretty bits of rock salt sprinkled all over the toasts which visually looked nice, but is a bit too much. The spiced toast was the clear favorite between the two with rich flavors and the textures on top also made it stand out in a remarkable way. Lastly, the cookie was solid. I really liked the fine crumble on it, which again added a nice texture that upleveled it. My younger child in particular came running back for more. So food/drinks-wise I'd give ChaiAum 4 stars, and if they sort out their service and hospitality will be a solid 4 stars all around. read more

Do you every feel need to have some soothing tea or coffee in a cozy corner, well this is what ChaiAum is about! When I walked in, I was greeted with a cordial smile. I look upon the menu in which had tasty-looking option. I went with the Himalayan Chiya and the Matcha Raspberry. I got a deal for a Samosa with the Chai. I got the chai quickly and so for my Samosa. Then I got my Matcha. The Chai had a warm, cozy taste and the Samosa was not too spicy! Then my Matcha was sweet with the raspberry in it. Overall, my experience was great, I recommend going here if you're dropping your kids to a class or just pass by. read more

She also explained the uniqueness of their menu with organic ingredients and freshly prepared food and drinks. I was lucky to go just before they got busy! I stopped by ChaiAum Tea & Coffee Shop today after noticing their grand opening sign on my way home. I ordered a Himalayan Iced Chai Latte--and wow, it was absolutely delicious! To top it off, I also tried a samosa, which was such a nice touch. The tea was amazing, the customer service was excellent, and the whole experience was great. I visited 3 times to try and get a thorough experience. I've ordered a latte, a iced Himalayan Chai Latte, and a Dirty Himalayan Chai Latte in addition to a couple of the pasties. I had the same barista all 3 times and he is very friendly and super patient. When I asked for a dirty chai, he knew exactly what i was asking for, but there was no way to charge it on the register, after asking the owner I ended up paying an extra $3 just to add 1 shot in my chai. The reason I wanted the the extra shot was because the chai was super milky and was not strong enough for my liking. Even with the $3 shot it was still a bit milky. I really enjoyed their spinach & feta pastry, but wish it had a bit more filling. It's pretty hollow inside and more of a spread then a filling, but the pastry is super flaky, buttery and delicious. Overall I'm glad to have a new small business coffee/chai shop in town. Hopefully they can adjust the chai recipe and not charge $3 to add 1 shot of espresso, and happy to see they're open late. read more
