I've been going to Qatra since they first opened, and I've always enjoyed their coffee and matcha, even though the prices can be a little high. Unfortunately, I had a really disappointing experience this morning. I placed a mobile order around 7:30 AM because I was on my way to work and specifically wanted to save time. I arrived about 15 minutes later, but there was no employee anywhere to be found. I walked around the entire premises trying to find someone, and when I finally found the worker, he was on his phone and my order hadn't even been started. I understand that delays happen, but this was especially frustrating because the whole purpose of ordering ahead is to have your drink ready, or at least being prepared, by the time you arrive. I ended up being late to a work meeting because of the additional wait. I've had good experiences here in the past, which is why this was so surprising and disappointing. If mobile orders are being accepted, there should be someone available and paying attention to them. read more

The coffee was okay. The orange blossom latte was pretty overwhelmingly floral and sweet. Like drinking perfume. The salted maple latte was a bit better, smooth flavor though all the salt was at the bottom of the drink. Pretty spacious interior. Staff didn't seem to have much customer service enthusiasm, and unsure of cake stock. No. This place is not good. I visited on a Friday around noon. Location: Pretty random location honestly. It's not an area I'd go out of my way to visit again. If the food, drinks, and service had been worth it, maybe I would. Drinks: Not good at all. We tried ordering the qaimogh chai/sheer chai, and the person at the register initially told us they were sold out. I literally paused and asked, "How?" She then said it might've been a system error and went to check. A minute later she came back and said they actually did have it. For a café that had only been open a few hours, it was strange to almost be "out" of tea and milk already. Considering their website says, "offering tea is the first gesture of welcome", you should probably have the tea available in the first place. The qaimogh itself was disappointing too. It wasn't rich or fully developed in flavor at all. It was thin and underwhelming. From the other reviews regarding drinks, it's clear that the employees aren't well trained in making drinks especially coffee. Food: Honestly embarrassing. Any good food establishment, regardless of culture, serves fresh food with care and pride. A lot of the items on display tasted store bought, stale, cold and reheated, or just not freshly made. The prices they charge makes no sense. It's unclear what is actually baked fresh there because nothing tasted fresh. Their website says, "every cup and every bite are prepared with intention, using the best ingredients available, and always served with care." That was definitely not my experience. Wait Time: This part made no sense. When we arrived, there was only one group of about 4-5 people finishing up and maybe two other customers working on their laptops with their drinks already in hand. Yet it still took at least 25 minutes to get our drinks. It seems like it's the standard to wait at least 25 minutes even if there is not a lot of customers. The food items (which were already sitting on display) came out at the same time. She basically just grabbed them and put them on a plate. That wait time was ridiculous considering nothing seemed freshly prepared. Customer Service: Beyond everything I already mentioned, the service overall was lacking. While we waited, ate, and even as we were leaving, the tables from previous customers still hadn't been cleaned. Atmosphere: The best way I can describe it is "culture presented for a Western audience." It didn't feel warm, inviting, or authentic to me at all. Definitely not the "you'll always feel at home here" vibe they advertise. Especially with customer service (and food) that's cold. I wanted to leave as soon as possible. They were also playing really depressing Ahmad Zahir songs in the background the entire time. Reviews from Others: From the reviews from people other than friends/family of the business- it wasn't just me who left with a bad taste. People do want to support the business but would appreciate honesty, integrity in their food and drinks, and good customer service. Advice: In your website or in the cafe, please describe in some way where the food items are sourced from and if they are actually prepared and cooked fresh daily. Listing the ingredients is also important. Many places will indicate something along the lines of "house made", "made fresh daily", "cooked from scratch", "from a local baker", "made with ___", etc. read more

Quiet place to have some of the best matcha & coffee in town. I do wish they played a little bit of instrumental music in the background just so it's not sooo quiet but it's a really cool spot. There's a pool table & an area to pray as well. There is plenty of space to work or study. First, we came on a Saturday... the entrance to the cafe is on the back side of the building, they have a separate entrance from the main entrance to 6701. Once inside, the place is spacious, clean, and nicely decorated with relaxing music softly playing. We came around 10:30 in the morning and the hours said they open at 8 but their were chairs still up on tables as though they were just opening even though the hours say they open at 8am on Saturday, I thought that was a bit odd. There were already a couple other customers seated, we walked right up to the register and ordered. We ordered a pistachio latte, a biscoff latte, and a cream roll from the pastry case. Given the low number of customers inside, we were surprised that it took 20 minutes for our drinks to be ready. When we ordered we asked how long they had been open, we were told they opened 6 weeks ago. Maybe they're still finding their groove but 29 minutes for two espresso drinks seemed excessively slow. Everything tasted good, the biscoff latte tasted just like the biscoff cookies you get on the airplane. The cream roll had cream filling and what looked like pistachios on the ends, it was a yummy sweet treat I might go back again in a bit to see if the speed improves. A friend suggested we visit a new coffee place in Pleasanton. I'm always up for trying new food places. When I checked on Yelp someone mentioned it's located in an office building so I was prepared. But it was still a bit difficult to find. My suggestion is to look for orange umbrellas! The place is very spacious and comfortable. I tried their Iced Pistachio latte and their breakfast burritos. The latte was delicious, it was a tad sweet but I didn't ask for less sweet so it was my fault. The breakfast burrito has egg, potato and beef sausage. I didn't realize that it was spicy, a friend tried and she said it was spicy. But it was fine for me. I think the sausage had some heat in it. The burrito is quite yummy. What an awesome little cafe! Their drinks are so beautiful and their taste matches the look! I loved my orange blossom latte which wasn't bitter at all and not too overpoweringly sweet. We heard about their soft opening and had to go! Qatra is located as part of an office complex so there is ample parking. When we got there the cafe was packed! Lots of indoor seating and it was full! Loved that there were games like table tennis and pool for people to play. Also loved the decor and vibes. I stopped by this place around 945am, because I was craving a different coffee other than my usual spots. There was a couple people sitting down having their coffee, and I was the only one at the register. I ordered the pistachio iced latte. The cashier started making my drink, but then stepped away, so I was under the assumption that the drink takes some time to make. 10 minutes passed by and she still hadn't came back to the register to finish my drink. I finally go up to the register as another lady walks by the coffee making machine and I was like hey I'm still waiting for my coffee. It's been about 10 minutes. She apologized and then proceeded to make my coffee for me. The younger lady, who was the cashier forgot about making my drink. The lady was apologetic. She said the cashier asked to go on her break and must've forgot to make my drink. Weird. This threw me off and it almost made me not want to go back. But I do want to go back and try their other coffees. The establishment is just outside of a business building so it can be hard to miss. My latte was too sweet for my liking, but strong enough. Hopefully next time I go I have a better experience, and nobody goes on break in the middle of making my coffee lol read more

I was here with my friend after her son's suggestion. The ambience gives a cool vibe not just for the youth but also for seniors. I saw a mixed of crowd here enjoying the company of their family and friends and some playing the pool table and some on their digital devices while sipping the coffee and eating the delicious snacks and dessert. We ordered for pistachio and rose latte with avocado toast. The service is great, it's very crowded so sometimes you will have to wait to see who is getting off or else you can sit outside as well if it's not raining. Our order came in after 15-20 minutes the buzzer went on and I went and grabbed our trays of latte and avocado toast. It was delicious and loved the evening out here. Stopped in with a friend to do some studying on a Friday afternoon and we're pretty excited to see that there was plenty of space to sit and it was pretty quiet. We both ordered an iced latte and that was the biggest disappointment, both lattes came out suspicious light in color and that's when I knew the taste would be off. Neither of them tasted like they had any espresso in them at all which is pretty dissapointing when you pay $7 for a glass of cold milk. I visited Qatra Cafe yesterday and it was sooo good!! The location is a little odd, but once you're inside it's really nice and spacious. We ordered the beef samosa, potato bolani, dragon fruit refresher, and sher chai. The line was pretty long and it honestly took forever for the food and drinks. After about 15 minutes, our buzzer went off... but not for food. They told us they were out of beef samosas, so we switched to chicken and said no problem. As we walked back to our table empty handed, I overheard another customer mention they were also out of the dragon fruit refresher, which no one had told us. I sent my husband back to ask, and sure enough, it was sold out. We replaced it with a mint lemonade. After another 15 minutes, we finally got our food. The potato bolani was really good, although the sauce on the side was barely half filled in the container. The mint lemonade was super refreshing and delicious, and the sher chai was incredibly smooth and creamy. I'm giving it four stars mainly because the service was slow and everything took a while. That said, the food and drinks were solid. This place is definitely going to get very busy during Ramadan, so I'd recommend coming earlier to avoid the wait. read more

I love all the Afghan themed decor, and how Afghan music is always playing subtly in the background throughout the spacious, warm and welcoming cafe. The staff is always asking for feedback as they are fairly new, and it really shows how much they value their customers. This is a family run business so it's so sweet to see the hardworking family running each aspect together so seamlessly. Qatra Cafe is officially my new favorite café in Pleasanton. The owners are genuinely so sweet, and the vibe is peak. They have pool tables and ping pong, which makes it such a fun place to hang with friends, but it's also the perfect study spot when you really want to lock in. Samaa helped us with our order and she was amazing. She took her time explaining everything to us, was so patient and kind, and honestly made the whole experience even better. You can really tell she cares, and that kind of service goes a long way. The Saffron Rose Matcha is hands down the best matcha I've ever had, like actually unmatched. The Qaimoq chai is so comforting and flavorful. And don't even get me started on the cream rolls, they are literally the BEST EVER. Being that this is their first week and got a few unfair reviews based on some sensitive people, but I still came from Fremont to give them a shot on New Year's Eve and coming around 9pm it had a good amount of customers, but not packed. I found them from TikTok videos of their opening and many people had great things to say. The WiFi is very fast here and did a speed test running at over 170mbps The ambiance is chill and very conservative and felt like I was at the university break area ( which is great) I ordered the Qaimagh chai and Bakhlava both were delicious. The wait time people for me was only 12 minutes. Staff was welcoming and friendly and paid attention to orders. Overall, a perfect spot for any occasion! Decor The decor is nice, plush and cozy. It is a small place and they have crammed it with ping pong, pool and foosball tables. Food Have been to almost all the new, fad Yemeni coffee places and also a few times to Qatra. This is by far the worst amongst all the new places. Also, they have introduced another fad : the realistic fruit cakes. They are very intricate and look like the real fruit but ridiculously overpriced. Service The service is the worst of the the three criteria. The first time I went they gave me the wrong order. Second time, got only three fourths of a cup of coffee. Today, had asked them for one to go and one dine in and she gave both in to go cups.She had also botched up the orders of a couple of others before me. So this was actually my second attempt at visiting this cafe. Google mentioned it was open on the weekends but I should've known when it said it was open until 1 AM that it may not be accurate lol. We arrived and doors were locked mid day on Saturday. Once we saw it was in a business center we knew before we even walked up. So if the owners reads this, please update your hours on google lol. Anyways I was able to drop by on Friday and really appreciated the girl rushing to make my drink so I could get to work on time. I wasn't aware that it would take some time to make the samosa I ordered. When she informed me I think she noticed how stressed I got about being late that she hurried and got me my order quickly! Wow! This place is truly an amazing gem! Upon walking in, one is greeted by a warm display of antique goods from Afghanistan. In combination with the warm environment, well lit seating, and the pool and ping-pong tables, this place from a decor perspective is absolutely outstanding. Very tastefully done. As far as drinks and other food items, all I can say is that no other cafe in the greater Bay Area has anywhere near this type of selection. It is abundantly clear that all ingredients are fresh and painstakingly hand-picked. The sheer chai is a personal favorite of mine, as is the mint lemonade. The matcha is also excellent. Food item wise, the samosa is absolutely delicious, as is the white sauce it comes with. Menu items such as the tacogak are new to me, but my family ordered and enjoyed it very much. Third time I came to this place and I think I can give a review. Pros Decor decor decor so beautiful! Big place with plenty of seating Pool table Tons of parking Outside seating Pastry items are good Cons I got the biscoff latte for the third time and it's very inconsistent. First time they never mixed the biscoff in the espresso, second time it was good, third time the drink had a really bad bitterness taste, this is due to their espresso machine was dripping the espresso instead of it flowing like a waterfall. As well as I saw the barista who was making my drink poor the espresso on the ice giving it the shock effect which makes it bitter too instead of pouring it into the milk. Wait times are way too long. You have two people making drinks one person at the cashier and one person doing nothing. If they have 3 people making drinks instead of 2, when they are that busy, wait times should decrease. They do not have the cold foam prepped which would save them time. Also their cold foam was made from whip cream... I think there is room for improvement definitely. I hope they improve. read more

This place is such an asset to the community for the reasons below: 1) coffee is amazing, I don't feel like I'm grabbing a Starbucks drink made with no thought and effort. I got the Biscoff latte which was a 5/5 for me and I've tried sheer chai. Both were not overly sweet. 2) the gaming area is cool while you wait for your drinks or just to hang 3) many coffee shops can get too cold when you're working or too loud, and it wasn't either for me 4) the samosa is very good, and such a plus to have a halal selection.
