I placed my order about a week before our big event with our Unofficial Run Club as we were about to celebrate our ONE year anniversary. So glad we decided to order all our donuts here, all our runners were super impressed with all the Strava themed details on the donuts. I mean, Strava themed donuts? It needs to go viral. And to all the Mom's out there with younger kids, skip the cupcakes and order donuts from here for your bday child's classroom, all the kids will love it. Make a BIG donut for ur bday child on his/her special day. Apple fritter: lots of apple chunks, soft on the inside with a perfect crisp and glaze on the outside! Not overly sweet. Bonus points: still served warm!!!! Maple bar: huge bar so fresh and soft filled with deelish custard topped with their deelish maple glaze! Hubby paid $8 and some change. Good sizes and price. We drove 20 minutes to this place after all of their recent social media attention. We HAD to try the banana fritter. Unfortunately, it was incredibly disappointing. As we placed it on a napkin, immediately we saw how oily it was. It tasted soggy and overly cinnamon flavored. The crisp on the outside was non existent and the center was mushy. We also tried a blueberry donut, which was also oily and crumbly. The chocolate old fashioned was just okay. Their coffee was standard coffee shop coffee. The cafe was incredibly dirty. Their air vents were visibly caked with dust and there was clutter and out dated decor everywhere. The employees were kind to all customers. The idea of a banana fritter is great. I went to the donut shop to try their banana fritter. It was a flavor of a fritter that I have never heard before and I love banana so I definitely had to make a pitstop. The fritter was very moist. It was soft and a slightly hard exterior but so chewy and moist after your first bite. I love an apple fritter donut with its crispy/crunchy exterior with fluffy interior with chunks of apples. When I heard Dough Boy's Donuts had a banana version I made sure to make a visit. Dough Boy's Donuts offer 2 sizes which I like...the regular size ($3.85) fritter and a mini one for $2.75! Decided to try the mini one to sample first as I tend to be a fritter snob...it's all about the texture and rough edges to get that crunch with a thin veil of glaze. Some spots have a thick glaze making them cloyingly sweet and almost inedible (for me). I would say Dough Boy's Donuts do a decent one but more cake-y and not enough varying texture or nooks and crannies for me. Banana flavor with a light glaze but didn't get any pieces of banana. *** 3.5 stars for the fritters *** Service was straightforward...pick and pay for your donuts and off you go. There are two different sizes for each fritter; large or small and the price range is from $2.50 (S) and $3.50 (L). The banana fritter is my ultimate favorite. It has a subtle outer crisp and the mashed banana blends perfectly with the dough. The texture of the dough is soft and pretty moist. I've never seen a banana fitter before so this is truly unique. I would definitely heat this up and eat it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for next time. The apple fritter was pretty good too but I've had a better one somewhere else. This is delicious and the ratio of apple and cinnamon is just right. I do wish it had more of a crispy outer layer with a buttery soft dough but overall, this was good and definitely a top 3 apple fritter for me. The banana fritter defo lives up to the hype--I much prefer it to the apple. There's banana inside the fluffy dough and glazed exterior that makes the texture so enjoyable. It reminds me of banana bread, but better because it's fried and sweet (but not too sweet) and a doughnut. Their glazed doughnut was delightfully light and fluffy with a classic exterior. The buttermilk bar was amazing!!! Potentially the best of the bunch. Perfectly dense, but not too dry--chef's kiss. Will definitely be back for more!! I saw Dough Boy's go viral on social media and had to come try their Banana Fritter! It was soooo good. Same crunch as a normal apple fritter but with sweet bananas instead. I'm not usually a huge fan of cakey donuts, but both the apple and banana fritter had a fantastic texture. Imo, crunch is the most important part of a fritter. They weren't oily, and they're huge. I recommend getting the mini sizes instead if you want to try both flavors. I made it through 1/4 of the full sizes before having to tap out. They're pretty sweet, but I think it's perfect if you're having a cup of coffee. For the price, they are a 5/5. For service, it was very speedy, which I appreciated. Been a while, and was in the area, so dropped by around lunchtime for an afternoon snack. Picked up one custard filled chocolate covered donut and some donut holes. Donut was well filled and chocolate glaze well covered. The custard was a little on the thin side and not as flavorful as expected. The donut holes were above average size, and glaze was adequate.
