A small was $5.90 which was steep for how small it actually is, but I think this is what's expected from coffee chains now. The service was excellent, but the docked star was from them not having anymore pistachio milk. I was getting so many ads (I got sucked in!) for their new Pistachio Rose Latte and Pistachio Matcha Latte, and I was disappointed they ran out. The kind cashier offered to put pistachio syrup instead but it's not the same T-T There's a lot of two-person seating inside, but for larger parties there are probably two options inside and more outside. From the ordering I could immediately tell the staff who took my order was not trained. She was all over the place, very disorganized, and didn't even ask for my name (which caused issue later). I told her my name myself but she didn't input it with my order anyway... The baristas were absolutely ridiculous...I believe they forgot to visit the class trainer and learn the skill "chat while working"...there were two people ahead of me when I entered but the place soon filled up and they finally stopped chatting ONLY and started working...it took forever for drinks to come out. The guy ahead of me went checking with the baristas multiple times. When my drink finally came out, guess what? Nobody knows whose drink it was since it was the season drink which everyone ordered and there was no name on the drink... luckily my light ice, less sweet option label saved the day. Though normally I would never read to a coffee shop of 5. Unless the service is exemplary. However, I live in San Ramon and have for many years. And we are very lucky to have at least 3 locations in the city of San Ramon. Of all 3 locations, this is by far my favorite, and it's truly the most consistent store of all 3. Are they perfect? No. But with the exception of a hiccup or 2, they are by far the most consistent in all aspects. It would also appear that they have their pastry ordering unlock. Because every time I come in, no matter what day part, they always have a selection for something to choose from. Whereas most locations have an empty case by 3 o'clock. Every time I walk into this Peets I notice that the temperature is always controlled. So it's not too hot or too cold, the baristas are always so sweet and kind and greet me. They're also excellent with recommendations. The ambiance is so light and refreshing and doesn't feel hurried or stiff. This company prides itself on the quality of their beverages, and they do not disappoint I do frequent all locations in San Ramon. Depending on where I am located, any given part of the day. The service is TERRIBLE! I placed a mobile order and there were at least 5 girls behind the counter talking and doing random things. No customers in line or orders ahead of me. After about 7 min I asked the woman who must have been a shift manager that I placed a mobile order and she looks at the screen and says I have your food (which was hidden and not on the mobile pickup area) but your drink is in queue and will be out shortly. I step back and wait. No one is working on making any drinks and i wait another 5 minutes and ask again who is working on the drinks she says someone will be working on it, we are having shift changes....IDGAF - then set expectations accordingly. Shift changes aren't that chaotic where all business stops to wait 15 minutes for you to figure out who is doing what. After my complaint, same girl who was there the whole time starts my drink - which was basically seltzer water with iced tea poured into an iced cup. It took her less than 60 seconds and then she just placed it on the counter without any label or announcement whose order it was. Yet she kept yapping on to some other person about whatever she couldn't stop talking about. No eye contact or any customer service. No complaints here. This is a professional and efficient Peet's store. I was staying at a nearby hotel for a conference and stopped by a couple times. All of my orders were accurate and ready within ~5-10 minutes. Service was friendly too. Flavor-wise, the items are exactly what you'd expect. I personally prefer them over Starbucks but I'm sure other folks might disagree. If you're looking for a "go to" item, consider trying their standard latte. It's very tasty. read more

I love me some Peet's coffee. After all, it's my coffee product of choice at Costco for Major Dickinson coffee, a 2lb bag for about $18. With any store location, it seems so rare to find vs. the number of Starbucks, even Philz, more common in the Bay area. It's also way more expensive for beans. This location is in the Whole Foods / Target / Homegoods center of the Bollinger and the 680, across the street from City Center. Quick, efficient, and pleasant is the service. Great product. Parking in the AM is good, but tough once the other businesses surrounding are open (ie. Crumbl). read more

I'm going to address two main issues in this review: their inability to handle dietary restrictions, and their employee's inappropriate behavior towards my service dog and me as a disabled customer. DIETARY STUFF I am celiac, and know to ask if the syrup I want at a coffee shop is gluten free before ordering. So I asked, and the barista had no idea. He grabbed the bottle, and I saw it and said "usually that brand is gluten free-- there should be a mark under the ingredients that says gluten free with a little picture of wheat". He looked at the bottle and said "it's not gluten free, I don't see that" and I reacted with surprise. He went to the back and asked his manager and the manager also said it's NOT gluten free. As I was informed of this, the bottle happened to tilt in my direction and I saw the telltale gluten free marker on the bottle: a large symbol of wheat with a line through it, and bold capital letters that say "GLUTEN FREE". It is easy to see. I said hey it says it's gluten free on the bottle. I pointed to the symbol. He was ASTOUNDED. It was just kind of tiring to be in a shop where not only do the employees not know what they even stock/sell, but also have no reading comprehension. Like that was confusing to me. Ok maybe you're new to the job but the words gluten free are RIGHT THERE. SERVICE DOG STUFF Then, the barista looked at my service dog and said "is that a service dog?" I assumed I was being asked one of the "two questions" that businesses are allowed to ask legally. I said yes. He then asked what my dog does for me. I thought he was asking the second of two questions he's allowed to ask. I told him this is my medical alert service dog. THEN--GET READY-- he asked what's my medical problem, that I need a service dog? Now this, folks, is an illegal interaction in violation of the ADA. businesses are not permitted to ask that. I avoided the question because a) I don't want to share my medical history or disability status with a stranger, and b) it's none of his business and a REALLY rude question. Grown adults should know better than to ask strangers (other grown adults) their medical history, and Peet's should not be training their employees in a way that makes them think this is ok behavior. So I repeated he's a medical alert service dog. The employee continued to push, repeatedly asking me what was wrong with me, what my dog does for my medical condition, what my medical condition is, what I need him for. Keep in mind I was very politely trying to communicate that these are not appropriate questions that I felt comfortable answering. The AUDACITY of a fully grown adult to ask this more than once after I repeatedly dodged those highly personal questions!! I felt soooo uncomfortable. The employees there were all nice enough, but this interaction made me feel unsafe, uncomfortable, and goggled at for being disabled. God forbid a person with a wheelchair or something comes in and is accosted by this employee asking dumb questions like "what happened to you" "why do you need that" etc. so inappropriate, and I'm VERY disappointed that Peet's didn't train their employees to know better. I just want to note as well that I work as a teacher, with children. When children ask me these questions (because of course they do, they're children) I say "that's not something I usually tell other people" and then explain jobs that other service dogs do with other people. This is how I interacted with this employee, just with adult words. Here's the kicker: when i do this with KIDS, they respect my answer and move on to other questions like "how do some service dogs learn to do that". This barista didn't get the memo at all, just kept pushing about my medical history, and that really botherEd me knowing that even kids can see this boundary and respect it! read more

I came to this Peets almost daily for literally about twenty years. It had excellent coffee, good baristas, nice for here ceramic cups and a good rewards program. It now has none of those. Whoever bought the company ruined it. Baristas are not trained to make an espresso coffee. No ceramic cups so generates tons of garbage and the "reward" has become a worthless joke. So back to my drink... this isn't my usual Peet's spot. I recently moved therefore the Sunset store is the closest one to me now. Usually when I order my cappuccino in person, I order it BONE dry. When I order via the mobile app, there is a Dry option but it usually doesn't get prepared dry enough. I've been to Dublin, Oakland, Pleasanton, Castro Valley, Bollinger, Palo Alto... They all make great coffee drinks but my cappuccino turns out more like a latte with more foam. The Sunset store TOTALLY knows how to make a cappuccino!!! I ordered it dry and it was made BONE DRY! With so much foam as oat milk can make. I applaud this store for excellent barista skills!!! And the cappuccino was delicious! Because of COVID-19, you cannot enter the store. They have a pick-up counter blocking the entrance but it is still as welcoming as can be. The counter person is super friendly and you can tell he is smiling behind his mask because his tone is pleasant and polite. I love it! When I picked up my order, he ended with "Have a great day!" This Peet's is located at the Shops At Bishop Ranch. This is a relatively busy area, but there is usually plenty of parking here. The employees in the morning are pretty friendly as well, they more often than not will greet you even when they are making drinks. This is a good spot to get some early morning reading or work done. The drinks are just okay, I do not particularity like their Matcha Green Tea Latte, but it is decent when I want to get some work done here.
