[[HIGHLIGHT]]A beautiful location that I will have to try again because my experience sadly wasn't ideal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (3.5) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the option to eat inside or outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were excited to try the best croissant in the Bay Area. I drooled at the cases and planned to eat something there and to take some treats home. I ordered the turkey and egg croissant and orange juice to eat for brunch. Loved the crunch of the pastry but I was expecting a bit more flavor with the turkey and egg. The fresh OJ was yummy. (3.0) We also dove into our bags and I loved the cannele and the vanilla and chocolate marquise. The latter two were our favs with the rich cream filling. (5.0) We also tried the plain croissant that we were excited about. But maybe our expectations were overly high and it wasn't our best we have tried in the Bay or the world. We like our croissants crunchy on the outside and flaky on the inside; the outside was a bit soft for our liking and more bready than flaky on the inside. Maybe it was just us. I expected to have a snack when I got home with my purchased plain croissant, almond croissant and almond croissant, but when I opened the bag, I found three plain croissants. What happened? It wasn't very busy when we arrived but was when we left. Lesson learned, check your order before you leave. I will return and hope to get my almond and chocolate croissants next time! Update: I warmed up my plain croissant at home in the toaster oven and it was more to my liking.

Another amazing time at Mai Son Benoit. We got some different foods this time a brioche Au sucre, strawberry cookie, Bayonne, and chocolate chip scone. Everything was delicious. I would say the only thing that was really annoying was that the girl that was helping us kept saying anything else anything else anything else? Anything else and I was like yes please stop asking. We're gonna tell you what we want it was really annoying. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience was good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everybody was happy to be there and they have all the windows thrown open for the beautiful day![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Oh, I also got a caramel latte with almond milk iced and it was so good! We sure love this place!!

These pastries are expensive and while they are flaky, I got the chocolate croissant, and I was appalled to see that the chocolate was in literally 1% of the croissant. The saving grace was the sandwich which was good and how flaky the croissant is, but honestly, the chocolate croissants should be called croissants because they lack chocolate

If you're looking for a charming French bakery in the East Bay, Maison Benoit is definitely worth the visit. Everything looked incredible in the pastry case and you can tell the pastries are made with care #1 in SF area for their croissants, which are buttery, flaky, and perfectly baked. You can watch the bakers through the window outside. What we tried: Honey Bear Latte ($6.25) - lightly sweet and comforting Almond Croissant ($7) - flaky with a generous almond filling Egg & Turkey Breakfast Bun ($6) - simple, savory, and satisfying Chouquette ($2) - light, airy, and the perfect little bite Kouign-Amann ($6.75) - crispy, caramelized, and buttery goodness Quiche Lorraine ($11.50) - rich and flavorful Chakchouka Croissant ($8) - a fun savory twist with bold flavors [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space feels cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for brunch or a coffee break.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating is first come, first serve, so it can fill up quickly on weekends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff members were so accommodating helping me with the adjustment of the sweetness of my latte. Tina's Tip: Ask for your pastries warmed up and order them "for here" - it makes a huge difference! Follow me @tinathaotravels for more Bay Area eats, lifestyle, travel, and adventures.

Two Marquise custard puffs (2.50 each) and a huge vanilla bean flan (7.50)

We tried their Pain Suisse today with a large Americanno on a rainy day. Flavor and texture was good but there was no custard inside. It melted away and looked like melted butter inside (see photo). The chocolate had also completely escaped the bread so it was just a hollow piece of bread with dried chocolate hanging on the bread. Will come back to try other items but they should put a little more care/love into their pastries.

Croissant and an Almond Chocolate - 5 stars!

Visited the bakery today (2/12/26) to grab some canelés, lemon meringue tart, vanilla flan...and of course that almond and chocolate croissant! All wonderfully delicious! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I'm definitely a fan! Plenty of street and lot parking nearby. _______ A friend treated me to some of the most wonderful croissants without having to cross the bridge. What one expects from a well made croissant with its rich, buttery, airy, soft interior with flaky exterior, Maison Benoit makes these so calorie-worthy and worth the price tag! I do have my favorite spot in Albany/Oakland but the almond chocolate croissant has me craving more. Oddly, I'm usually not into chocolate croissants but Maison Benoit makes a good almond chocolate ($7.50) with chunks of quality chocolate vs a paste piped down the middle resembling a tootsie roll...not good. Looking at the Yelp pics I may have to make a trip and pick up a bunch of goodies! I'm eyeing a ham and cheese, caneles and of course, anything with custard!

Met a friend in Danville for a quick run and decided to grab coffee afterward. She mentioned a new café/bakery called Maison Benoit, known for their delicious croissants. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a beautiful display of pastries and sandwiches--and a line of eager customers, which is always a good sign. We ordered two lattes and croissants, and wow... it honestly tasted like we were in France. Everything was fresh, buttery, and perfectly made. Definitely a spot I'd go back to again.

I was here last year and had a slice of Galette Des Rois. It was delightful and delicious! I didn't know it was seasonal!!! Well, here I am. I ordered a 6-person cake before Christmas and picked it up today. I. Am. Prepared. I can't wait to eat a slice!!! To tide me over, I bought an éclair chocolat and a Paris Brest for the family to share. Because my New Year's resolution is to enjoy life! I live to eat!! The service here has always been great! There's usually a line but patience is a virtue. They have a system and if you follow along, you'll be out of there quickly. I try to pronounce the name of the pastries in French but if it gets butchered, it's all good. The staff can probably guess what you want. If there is a line, there might not be a place to sit. They have indoor and outdoor tables. Everything here is amazing! They have savory bites as well. The baguettes and loaves of bread are fantastic! The owner is French and his bakers are French who are trained in France. The butter and cheeses are imported from France. So you're practically French when you walk in the door! Can't say enough good things about Maison Benoit.

Kouign Amann: Flaky, but a tad tough and dry, needs more flavor. Pain aux Raisins: A bit anemic, needs more flavor. Canele: Dry, no carmelized taste, no custard. Needs more flavor. Spinach and Feta Quiche: Flat, not fluffy or silky. Waited for it to come to the table for a like warm bite. Matcha Latte: Barely any matcha and was lukewarm. Needs more matcha and flavor. Great spot for Danville, pastries look great, but disappointing overall. I expected more deliciousness and decadence or some wow factor. The name was captivating. Very average.

Maison Benoit has become too trendy given the quality which is just so-so. Expect long lines. The butter croissant is $4.50 and the croque monsieur which was always traditionally an affordable French meal is $13.50. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating is limited.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed with a mix of new customers and patrons. My eyes were delighted with their yummy pastries display. The line moved too quick I wish i couldve have more time to decide so i ended up getting more than I wanted. We got there Chocolate croissant, brioche, Flan Vanille, macaroons, marshmallow, 2 tuna sandwich, ham and cheese croissant and the croque monsieur. Although everything was pleasant our favorite was the Flan Vanille and the tuna sandwiches. The Flan vanille is my new favorite dessert going forward. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I know it was a busy day and the staff was busy with the orders and service making tables available however they could improve in checking their bathroom and trash bins. All bins were too full even one by the counter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We notice that the staff continously wiping the counter but didnt notice the overflowing trash bin.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Other than that i couldnt stop bragging about Mason Benoit on my social media. We will definitely come back.

Came back here recently with the parents to grab some ham and butter sandwiches, croissants, salmon quiche, and a Matcha latte. This place is always pretty lively and crowded. Of the times I've been there's always been a line. But the folks behind the counter are very friendly and efficient. The line was pretty fast. Another great visit. One of my parents' favorite places.

Is this a good spot to work on a laptop while enjoying a cappuccino and french pastry or lunch? How's the wifi? Thanks

For me yes! Especially the outdoor seating.

What hours are you open Christmas Day?

Hi Melinda we are closed on Christmas Day and open 7am-12pm on Christmas Eve. Same for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day!

    What are your Thanksgiving hours?

We are open until noon on Thanksgiving Day!

Does the fruit tart have any nuts in it?

I don't think so, but it's always smart to ask first

How do I order something in advance for a party?

Hi Stacy! We are about to launch the website at maisonbenoit.us but in the meantime (and for large or special orders anyway) the best is to send me a text at 408.618.1683!…

Are there any pastries made with almond flour? Please have labels for any nut product as many children may be allergic to almonds.

Hi Daranee There is some almond flour in our lemon meringue tart. Not sure if you were asking in general or in our assortment at Maison Benoit.…

    Do you make cakes?

Yes we do! Chocolate cakes (Royal), Paris-Brest, tarts… our website will be up shortly too

Can I order online and pick up to avoid the long line?

    Are there gluten free items?

I asked the same question. I was told that they do have gluten free bread.

The location is easy to get to, with lots of parking behind in a lot, and it's very clean, with lots of chairs and tables; yet all were filled this Saturday evening, which is a good sign. There are too many pastries, treats, and drinks to even cover, and we spent a few minutes trying to find our choices, which you mainly pick from cabinets using a self-serve tray and tongs. For drinks and cake (whole or sliced), you order those at the counter. We decided on some pastries, some cake slices, and a drink. And S'mores was the predominant theme today. We ordered a raspberry fruit bite, 2 chocolate supreme croissants, 2 S'mores Belgian waffles, a sugar mochi donut, a coffee donut croissant, 2 slices of S'mores chocolate marshmallow cake, and a slice of rainbow cake. We also got the cream cheese puff and the crème brûlée bombolone ... quite the name! And, of course, a S'mores frappe! The server helping us at the register was polite and efficient, but there was only one register open and a long line. As such, other folks were helping gather the goodies from the cake case, and as we were taking these to go, we did not realize until we were home that the rainbow cake was not a rainbow cake, but a THIRD slice of S'mores cake. Ugh. That one was chosen by the 8-year-old, who was understandably not happy, and the additional insult of paying extra (above the cost of the S'mores) for a cake we didn't get made ME unhappy too! Paid $8.29, got a $6.99 cake slice. The pastries are generally good, with some very good and some more of a "meh." Among the best were the raspberry fruit bite and the coffee donut croissant. That coffee one was a surprise, as it had a soft liquid filling we didn't realize when buying, and the taste was very coffee, which I loved. Will get that again for sure. The S'mores chocolate supreme croissant was also popular. The crème brûlée bombolone was different, with a light pastry and a filling different from what I usually find in crème puffs, and it was tasty. The waffles were not a light and airy as we would have liked, but the flavor was good. The mochi donut was a bit dry as well, not up to true Japanese bakery standards, and the cream cheese puff was all puff and short on the cream cheese (see photos). And the S'more cake was good for flavor, very rich and S'morey, but the presentation really is lacking. Not that I normally compare one chain to another, but for example, when we get Crumbl, the product is very close to the advertising. Not so with the S'more cake, and I am not even sure all the layers were there and in the proper order or proportion; check out the photos and see what I mean. However, the flavor was spot on, and that is the ultimate goal, although the "eyes eat first," as we Yelpers know! And the highlight was not a pastry or cake, but the S'more frappe. It was layered beautifully, fresh-tasting, and very S'morey (yes, a new word I now love!). We even got a second, as we had to eat this there so it could be shared by the group, and it was calling us! Definitely hope it is available next visit, and Starbucks could take a lesson in quality versus price point. Some of the pastries here are really not worth the cost for the product (would skip the cream cheese puff, for example, and the mochi donut), but everything else was very good. Other than an error in fulfilling the order correctly and a couple a poor pastries (quality), it was a good first visit, and we all would come back when near a location.

I originally came in for Dubai inspired chocolate pistachio cheesecake but was instead greeted so warmly by head pastry chef Nile! She is full of life and so passionate about her baked goods. I almost wanted to buy one of everything after hearing about each item. Desserts: *Blueberry Ube Cheesecake *Pistachio Ricotta Cake *Dubai Pistachio Chocolate Cake with Biscoff Cookie Butter *Red Velvet Cheesecake Cup Nile just baked the Dubai cake and mentioned she would have a slice for herself that night. It was sweet and decadent for sure. Definitely perfect for sharing! I loved the blueberry ube cheesecake and so did Mom! I was looking for my leftovers and they disappeared from the fridge. Creamy and slightly fruity with that thick buttery crust-- amazing! Pistachio Ricotta cake was light and moist. Perfect when you want something delicately sweetened for tea time. Red Velvet cheesecake cup was just ok for me due to the cheesecake frosting. I think I would've preferred a whole slice of cake instead. This bakery kiosk is a part of Turkish-Mediterranean restaurant Moussaka. Interior has the cutest cafe tables and chairs. Love the grey with baby pink + mint green color scheme. Step inside and go directly to the dessert display to place an order. They're also on DoorDash. Can't wait to see what Chef Nile comes up with next!

Even better than how it looked, was how it tasted! The person we were celebrating is Gluten Free and the cake was gluten free and vegan. I didn't have huge expectations of the taste based on past experiences, but i would have had no idea. The cake was perfectly moist and dense snickerdoodle flavored. The icing had that perfect texture and was cinnamon sweet. It was amazing! I live in Seattle and it was for a baby shower in Oakland. I was nervous because I've never ordered a custom cake before, I was doing it at a bakery I don't know in a city I was visiting and needs it dropped off. Alexandra eased any worries I had and made the experience memorably wonderful. The shower wasn't going to help traditional - not a drop of pink or blue so I wanted to give some direction on what I was hoping for. I sent some images as a reference and Alexandra offered input to make sure we were aligned. She then created something that went with what I was thinking, but it was even more beautiful. I know I am gushing, but I can't help it. If you are looking for a special cake that tastes as good as it looks, use Salted Holiday!
