Went to check out Muffin Lab the other night at Armistice Brewing for a Friday pop-up and it was such a muffin suprise. The owner, Janneh, was super friendly. Walked me through the menu with all smiles and serious enthusiasm. I had my eye on the Mushroom sandwich since I love wild mushrooms and thought it was unique, but it was already sold out (DAYUM I missed out!!). So I went for the classic Bacon, Egg & Cheese with a Hash brown Crisp because you can't beat that breakfast sando staple. My friend got the Smoked Tri-Tip one and yea... gorgeous. Also, can we talk about their English muffins? I asked if I could just buy a dozen to go because they look that good. The bacon, egg & cheese had microgreens, and pickled onions (that pickled onion hit with the acidity). The tri-tip had that slow-smoked flavor and a fried egg on top. Overall: great food, great energy, excellent service. Janneh making sure everything was right. Come early to get your pick of the best muffins in the area! My husband and I arrived near closing time at the farmer's market, but were fortunate to get the tri-tip breakfast sandwich. "Oh yes we know the muffin man, his name is Janneh!" We are big fans of Muffin Lab in this house. I have a picky husband and an even pickier toddler and I can tell you that both have regular muffin cravings. We get to see Janneh at the San Ramon Farmers' Market and the focaccia muffin is my favorite to have ala carte and they reheat at home beautifully. I occasionally treat myself to the tri-tip sandwich. I rarely get to eat it though because said aforementioned toddler steals enough bites that it basically becomes his. And as it turns out, little kids want to eat *really* delicious food just like we do. The food is great and the family slinging muffins are super nice! I'll end on a this note. Went to the Farmer's Market in San Ramon Sunday to try the Muffin Lab. They were wonderful, our new favorite.

The things one craves for. We had their muffins at Berkeley Humane's awesome Pints for Paws® event last Sat and hubby has already submitted our first delivery order: decadent and delicious. These are not for sharing (ok, you can, but I have no idea why you'd want to - even with the love of your life!) The folks were also just amazing; it was busy, and I'm guessing they always have a steady line, but they took time to answer questions and were so friendly; you'd like to chat with them all day. Highly recommend finding one of their pop ups or splurging for an online order. read more

Muffin Lab = A Morning Win These muffins have become the highlight of our mornings. My kids actually run to the kitchen for breakfast now -- no reminders needed! They're super easy for the kids to make on their own too -- just 30 seconds in the microwave and done. Only problem? My son gets pretty annoyed when his sister grabs the last one (which happens more often than he'd like). Safe to say we've learned to stock up. Also, shoutout to Muffin Lab's customer service -- friendly, fast, and just as awesome as the muffins. This place is super casual set up in a pop up style tent canopy. I've eaten from Michelin rated restaurants to roach infested holes in the wall. Beef Wellington to tapas to tacos. So, I look forward to trying new food items. You will probably remember me as the guy who said, "Where's the Sweet Bay Rays BBQ sauce? You said, "I'm gonna put you out! Ok, jokes aside, I'm serious about my reviews and I have to be up front and honest. $12 for a muffin with one piece of tri-tip and some fixings ain't gonna do it. Sure, the taste was on point as far as the meat and such. But the English muffin is NOT an English muffin. It was more of a greasy biscuit than an English muffin. In fact, my daughter totally rejected the "muffin" and left much it behind for the trash bin stating it was way too greasy. The owner was very friendly but when asked about sampling the focaccia bread from the word go, he ended up being too busy. This is something the "daughter?" could have gotten. I should have gone with the Roam Burger for more meat satisfaction at $2 more. read more
