So we came to this outdoor shopping mall to take the kids to a kids play area and as we walked around, we ran into this little candy/bakery shop. we thought it looked very European and cute as we walked in. We noticed tables of candies and a whole wall of candy that you can choose from each candy was labeled with different countries where the candies came from which I thought was pretty cool. The people asked us if we need any help to let them know. We did notice that the prices were pretty high. So for 1 pound of candy in the bag it was $25. However, the girls did pick out a couple pieces of candy for each and we spent about $4.50. This place is definitely cute and provides a lot of different types of candies, but it is kind of pricey. I've frequented the Hayes Valley Miette over the years and have always loved their cupcakes. This Bishop Ranch location is smaller by comparison and offers much less variety. Staff engagement here is hit or miss. On both of my visits, the staff was friendly at the register, but there was little interaction beyond that. The cupcakes keep me coming back time and time again, though I'd say the other sweets are fairly average. read more

The staff here is so sweet. I really love coming into this cute shop and browsing the delectable looking displays. Although I love a good bag of milk chocolate sea salt caramels or Turkish delight, my favorite area is the cookie display. Came in looking for a gift but honestly, I was kinda disappointed. Not a lot of options as a bakery and quite expensive at that. Most of the stuff in the shop is candy that they purchase. Definitely not worth it, even for the homemade stuff. I've been to the SF Ferry Building location in the past that seems to have a lot more homemade stuff, and less candy. We came here after stopping by Boba Guys. It's a cute, boutique candy shoppe with different candies and taffy in glass jars lining the walls. I liked that they had French and Italian hard candies in tins, with rose, lavender, and violet flavors. In addition to candies, they have macarons, and cookies (including lavender cookies), ice cream, Turkish delights, and cotton candy that the clerk will make for you in the spot. It reminded me a lot of the British candy shop that used to be in San Francisco, but there weren't many British old-fashioned hard candies. The location is convenient, the store clerk was knowledgeable, and the selection unique and diverse. However, it is also very pricey. I love floral flavors like lavender, rose, and violet. So this would be a place I would stop by periodically if I lived nearby. There are also sweets from other countries I may want to try out and then order online in bulk for less. The French mint lemon candy was my favorite nthe flavor is a little bitter at first. The Italian Miste Disstanti is a mixed bag: lemon, lime, violet was OK but the pink/orange/red ones were unpleasant. The lavender cookies have a distinct lavender flavor, best with a simple black tea. I would recommend at least stopping by once to check out the selection. read more

I was in the area for a meeting and did a google search for the nearest bakery. Miette came up as a top hit, which was nice since I did want to stop by Bishop Ranch. I found the staff member to be friendly and helpful, but I was highly disappointed with the variety of pastries, cakes, etc. that Miette had to offer. Miette calls itself a patisserie and confiserie, but it was hardly a patisserie. I was hoping to find an assortment of petits gateaux, which I would typically find at a patisserie, but the only French-style dessert available was the macaron. That being said, there was only ONE macaron flavor to choose from. They did offer different flavors of cupcakes, but cupcakes are American baked goods. I did arrive around 3:15pm in the afternoon, so maybe they ran out of other items. The place lived up to it being a confiserie though. They had bags of chocolates, candies, and other confections around the store. I decided to satisfy my sweet tooth anyway, so I bought a gingerbread cupcake with cream cheese frosting and a macaron. The cupcake was fine. The crumb was soft and moist, and I enjoyed the cream cheese frosting. I thought that the ginger flavor was lacking. The flavor of the day for their macaron was matcha. The texture of the macaron was great, but I did not get the matcha flavor at all. read more

This used to be my go-to spot back in the SF working days and it was good to be able to try them out again. The niece takes tutu classes in the area so one Saturday weekend, we came in to check it out, and lo and behold, they were offering free cotton candy. I opted to get blueberry and it was delicious. We opted to order their chocolate cake for the niece's birthday. It was the perfect size for the family and it wasn't overwhelming sweet. It was just right. Beautiful brand new patisserie/confiserie in San Ramon! I'm so glad Miette has expanded to another east bay location, I've been a fan for over 10 years since I lived in San Francisco. On their grand opening day the shop sign was still missing so it may be hard to spot but it is right next to Roam burger, George, and Salt & Straw. You can't miss the pastel green walls and all the brightly colored candy inside! I got their macarons which are always a hit, as well as the cookie sampler box and fleur de sel caramels. I love that the macarons are natural with no artificial coloring. I'm excited to have this shop close by for the occasional dessert and even catering for parties in the future. Next time I'll get their cupcakes and loaf cakes to go, their candy selection makes for awesome gifts too. read more

This candy and baked goods store is extremely bright and adorable and super inviting. I couldn't resist going in and picking up some candy. They had a lot of sour flavors which were my favorite. I picked up some pineapple, strawberry, and grapefruit shaped ones along with some colas. I don't know how much is a pound but what was about less than a cup of candy came out to $8ish which is not cheap! I was pretty disappointed because my candy did not taste like either fruit nor were they sour. It was just chewy gelatin and had a fruity aftertaste. The best ones were the cola and cherry cola but I can get a couple packs of Haribo for a better deal. I'd consider coming back to try their baked goods, but I don't think the candy was worth it. read more

I was so excited to have another option besides Sprinkles for cupcakes so close to my work. Thanks to other Yelpers, I found this cute shoppe (cute enough to spell it the fancy way) tucked in right across from Mendocino Farms (my go-to lunch spot). There's a large supply of candies (some bulk bin and others nicely pre-packaged), pre-made mini loaf cakes, candies, and cookies (packaged beautifully and would make great "just because" gifts). Also an assortment of adorable party supplies and decorations. The cupcake selection was small, only 7 flavors. And only a few of each flavor in the bakery case. This was shortly after they opened for the day, so I assume there's more in the back and they don't want to overcrowd the case. I went with four: -Yellow cake w/Strawberry buttercream: cake was on the drier side and frosting lacked strawberry flavor. Frosting felt greasy like shortening, not very buttercreamy. -Chocolate w/ Italian Meringue: this was my favorite. Very moist and chocolatey cake, Italian meringue was silky and perfectly sweet complement to the richness of the chocolate -Chocolate w/ vanilla buttercream: again, moist chocolatey cake. Frosting was better than the strawberry frosting, not overly sweet and didn't seem as Crisco-y. But still not a great buttercream IMO. Serviceable enough; hubby enjoyed it -Carrot cake w/ cream cheese frosting: loved the cake, it has walnuts in it! Frosting was good too. But it wasn't very appealing seeing the heavy grease stain this cupcake left in the box. The other cupcakes didn't leave much of a mark, only this one I was also disappointed that my cupcakes were put into a very cute box but weren't held in snugly by a cupcake insert. By the time I got them home, they had slid and scrunched frosting into the side of the box. Such expensive cupcakes ($4 each) deserve to be packaged better. I didn't do a whole bunch of research, but from glancing at the website, the ingredients are organic. I appreciate that. And that explains why the macarons are not tinted unnatural colors. About the macarons... they have a good almond flavor to them, but the fillings were very mild, maybe even overpowered by the almond. I'm guessing this place is more for the order-ahead crowd. Their website seems aimed at advanced order customers. For me, ordering a full cake without being able to know what it tastes like beforehand is too risky. Especially since most of the cakes start at $45 for a 6-in. I saw some cakes for $35 (carrot cake and gingerbread) that have cupcakes of those so you can get a taste for it before committing to a cake. Super cute bakery and candy store. I have been to their store in the Ferry Building in SF many times when my children were little. This location is darling, they have a generous supply and variety of candies, some nostalgic, as well as bulk. They macarons in the bakery case, and both times some very moist and delicious cupcakes. We got a vanilla and a chocolate, my daughter enjoyed the macarons. Service was quick, and there was no line due to the time of day, and the workers answered our questions. This is the Miette that used to be in the ferry building in SF. Same items, which are small desserts, cakes, and fancy packaged candy. If you go early enough, they also offer small free cotton candy to guests, with a lot of flavors to choose from. The macarons are my favorite, and that is what we usually get. It is easy to buy one and smuggle it into the nearby movie theater if you are doing to watch a movie. read more

Mmmmmmmmm!! Super happy to have a Miette in City Center now! My kids adore the bulk candy selection- the sour candy isn't overly sour imo and perfectly sweet and sour balanced. They have a fun selection of international candies. We just got back from Europe and I was THRILLED to find my fav Smarties from Europe in stock here! (Not the sugary smarties- more like better for you m&ms). The macarons are delish- not overly sweet and no artificial colors which makes me so happy! I loved the moistness of the chocolate cupcake and the raspberry buttercream on top was perfection. I only wish that they were open later than 6pm on weekdays as my kiddos always want to stop in after dinner. I'm considering purchasing the cookbook that is in stock as well, I love it here so much. The cake here was really poorly made, comparing to the Miette store in Oakland. We tried two different cakes from San Ramon location, the tomboy and the birthday cake. Both cakes were really dry, tasted like it was not freshly made or over-baked. The cakes we had at the Oakland store were very moist and much tastier. Do not recommend this location. read more

I visited Miette on a trip to city center with my sister and our small children on 6/22/23 around 1:00 pm. I had a terrible customer service experience that I'd like to report. This review is based on the service alone. I can't speak for the products as I purchased some things for a gift. At the very least, management should be aware of this. We were the only ones in the store. I selected a few items. One person came in and got a few things out of the case of cakes and during this time I decided I was ready and stood behind that customer to wait to pay for my 3 items. Right after that customer was done, the lady working there got a phone call and answered it. I didn't think anything of it at first and continued to wait to pay for my items. She proceeded to answer a bunch of questions over the phone about the different cakes that they offer, descriptions of the cakes, her favorite cakes, the most popular cakes, etc. She even got out a pen and paper and said she will take an order for them! At this point, it had been about 5 minutes since the customer in front of me had paid and was long gone. I started to get incredibly irritated and asked this lady, "can I just pay for my items?" at which point she held her finger up, signaling for me to wait!! A moment later, she asked the person on the phone to hold and rang me up. I was absolutely appalled by this. I was there, in person, waiting in line, before this person on the phone even made their call. And somehow that person took precedence over me? I left the store feeling all the negative emotions about this business and wishing I had just walked away instead of spending $36 on 3 measly items. I hope this review is seen by someone higher up and can maybe offer a bit of guidance and training on how to respectfully handle your customers. read more

Their other offerings are diverse, including different brands of high quality chocolate bars. The employees and manager were all very helpful and friendly and the ambiance is lovely.
