I love this place. It's quiet and if the ladies ask you if you want a design, just say yes. They are amazing at creating beautiful unique little flowes or whatever else. Today I watched a perfectly few handed snowflake painted on my toes. Gorgeous! read more

I absolutely love this place. The people are nice and do a great job every time I go. Thw last time oh was there the girls were helping me find the perfect color for the wedding I was attending. Such a talented group. read more

As for many of the reviews of this shop, I must agree that the work is inconsistent. I have visited this nail shop for the past six months and I would say I've been completely satisfied about half of the time. The other half, I have encountered issues such as cutting nails entirely too short to the point of pain, not painting nails close enough to the cuticle causing them to look a few days grown out, too many coats on pedis causing them to chip prematurely, and designs that look extremely amateur. Today I came to the realization I must look for another salon when the lady didn't ask my preference for the nail shape and proceeded to cut my nails on the side making them a a coffin shape. I was honest when asked about my experience and informed the cashier of my dissatisfaction and his response was that next time I should time specify beforehand. I did not consider that an appropriate response and decided a 50% satisfaction rate is not adequate for this place to keep my business. read more

Lady was really sweet but took two hours on my schlak polish, made me bleed on four different fingers from ripping of my "cuticles" and the schlak was falling off within the first hour. Did an awful job on my nails and ended up charging me twice what the sign said for a manicure. read more

WARNING: DO NOT PATRONAGE this business. I am visiting and dropped in early for a pedicure. There was no wait so I was happy about that. However the man who did my nails wasn't good. They don't even use soap in their water. I got the European spa pedi and there was no foot scraper for the callous remover. The used a pumice stone which I've never seen before. That should've been my warning. He cut my nails too low and not evenly. A lady came behind him and fixed it. When she finished my paint I said thank you and everyone left. I asked where the dryer was - THERE WASNT EVEN A NAIL DRYER. they said you sit there and let it air dry. WHAT??? I would NEVER recommend this place. They're not good at their craft and don't even have the necessary equipment. They should inform customers this is a gel only salon or something. I don't understand how they're operating. Save yourself the trouble. read more

First of all we had an appointment took him 25 minutes to get us seated and we had to sit in the pedicure water for 45 minutes end up getting cold did the pedicure started the manicure and they took someone that came in way after us before us mind you we got there at 12:40 for a 1 o'clock appointment and we were there until 6pm and they were taking people that came in after us while we were still sitting there did not do my nails correctly and overcharged me ,overcharged me bad !!!!!!they charge $20 for gel (they do not tell you the price, every place is always charge $10 for gel and I don't mind paying that but they did not tell me it was $20 for gel )and I ended up paying $100 for toes and nails!!!!! I have had my toes and nails done by diva nails in Chula Vista for a long time they are so wonderful and I have never paid even close to the amount that I paid here &I've already ripped off my nails I've already taken them off because I don't want them on because they're so ugly I will post a picture before I tore them off !!!!! I Rarely leave bad reviews but this one is worth it do not go here do not go here if you can hear me now don't go here they're horrible and I promise you will regret it I know I do read more

Decided to come here for a manicure and pedicure with my moms. She offered to take us so I was gun ho. My mom had made a reservation so the service was extra attentive, we both recieved excellent manicures and pedicures. I especially enjoyed my pedicure because they had used a green tea treatment that had made my tan come out on the legs while making my feet and calves crazy soft! Also, the price for the gel here is really inexpensive compared to a few other places I have been too. read more

This place has screwed up my pedicure the past two times I've been there. They carefully go to put on my shoes and then bump my toes against the shoes. Won't be back after I'm 0 for 2. read more

They did an alright job on my nails. But my cheif complain is the disrespectful behavior. I felt so bad for the lady doing my toes. Other employees were walking by the chair I was in and throwing their trash in the bowl. Granted I was done with the bowl at this point, having my toes painted. But literally throwing garbage. Lollipops half eaten, used gloves from other patrons etc... this is disgusting for me and not ok to do at all! This was my first time coming here because my normal salon was way busy, but I will not be back! read more

I've been to this place many times. I've spent a lot of money here. For the last year I've not gone because I was ill. Finally my daughter and I went for some pampering and to get out of heat. I'm not only disappointed, I'm angry. I feel like I just spent 136$ to get lousy service and lousy attitude. They wouldn't even wait for my pedicure to be finished before they asked me to pay. Wow...I was there to relax. I'm also disappointed in my nails. When I tried to let the girl know they were not matching lengths and I kept saying no to her upselling was when the attitude started. I am never going back there again. read more

They were a big waste of time. As a widowed single mother, I finally had someone to watch the baby for a little pampering time before running some errands. They told me it would be a 30 minute wait. 55 minutes later I started to a walk out and they stopped me and promised it would be 5 more minutes. 15 minutes later I left without getting any of my coveted pampering. They wasted very precious time for me today. It's OK if a place is busy, but don't just keep saying things to keep someone there. An accurate wait time would have been nice. Instead they just kept screwing with me. I'll never go back. read more

All i wanted was a pedicure and BASIC manicure. They hustled me the whole way through and when i went to sign my receipt it was $80! They were nice, and i didnt feel "rushed" like others mentioned, but i sure as hell left feeling like I got robbed. Then the gel polish on the "upgraded" manicure they gave me didnt even last 24 hours! Chipped and peeling. Im mortified that I have to go somewhere else to get them fixed after I paid that amount of money. Wont be back read more

My family and I always go here to get our nails done, they are the best! Always ask how I want my french tips done and are sure to get it right. Not pushy with selling the upgrades, and very kind. Love this place! read more

I must have got lucky looking at some of the reviews on here because my pedicure I got was awesome! She did try to upgrade me and I fell for it but it was worth it! I got the $30 service for my pedicure. There was a heel treatment and scrub and I left there walking on a cloud! I work in the same shopping center so I think I just found my new place! Thank you read more

Had been to 2 other salons in the last 2 months and was very disappointed. Decided to try Star Nail at Trolley Center and I'm so glad I did. The technician, Sophie did an amazing job. I got the more expensive gel pedicure with extra massage and it was awesome. Sophie took her time and made the experience so enjoyable. Sophie at Star Nail will be my salon from now on. read more

I have been going to Star Nails for approx. 7 years ~ I have always gone to Cindy at this location; she makes appointments for me and does my nails, toes, eyebrows and eyelashes! A few weeks ago, I noticed some changes in the place....a little more open and cleaner! I found out New Owners came in and they have really taken this place above and beyond. One of the new Owner's greeted me as I walked in and checked with my gal to see where she wanted me. I was offered water while I waited for my gal to get done ( I was a little early). I truly like the personal approach at Star Nails. I have gone to other places and did not receive the same service. It is centrally located for East County for easy access. Good going girls ~ nice job! read more

I live in AZ and came to San Diego for a family event at the nd of April 2016 that was also my birthday. Our motel was nearby and I stopped in for a facial wax and splurged on a new full set. They try to upsell for the wax and normally I'd just say "no thanks, just the brows and lips today..." But it was a mini-vacation and birthday, so what the hell! They did a great job. If you don't like being attempted at an up-sale, just be prepared to politely decline. They still do a great job. read more

I've come here twice to get a pedicure, the first time was amazing, honestly the best pedi I've ever had. We came first thing in the morning and it was empty, clean and had really good ventilation - great experience. The second time we came in the afternoon; it was packed, they had a really sad variety of colors there were five of us and they didn't make any attempt to seat us together. They tried to upsell every one of us and argued when we said no. Within a week every pedi was chipping or otherwise messed up. Some had chipped off by the day after the pedi. Terrible experience. I don't think I'll be coming back which is disappointing because after the first time I thought I had found my new pedi spot. read more

Came to this salon with my mom & sisters back in January and An did my nails and have been going to ever since! She is so sweet and gentle, takes her time and is affordable since I need a gel manicure every 2 weeks with being a hairdresser my nails get jacked up lol. Usually my gel manicures wouldn't even last 2 weeks! Thank you An!!!! read more

It pains me to say this because the people who work at this nail salon truly are very sweet, but please don't go here. They don't clean their tools. I went in yesterday at 3pm for a pedicure, and by the time I went to bed I had a red, pussy, and painful toenail. I talked to a professional and it was clear that I had an infection. read more

Went here today for a pedicure and left very disappointed. At the start of the pedi the girl was nice, talking, smiling and happy. Then she handed me the paper and tells me to pick what service I want. i told her the basic pedicure was fine and she told me no, I needed the more expensive one. Why? She proceeded to argue with me insisting I needed the most expensive pedicure. I said please just give me a "basic" which did not set well with her. She started talking to the other workers in her language and they all laughed. She never said another word to me for the remainder of the time. I'm sure they thought I was cheap but why do they have to up-sell everything! Just give me what I am asking for. Will not return to this shop as there are way too many other places to choose. read more

Never going there again. Wanted to move quickly to get people done, not taking the time to do a good job. Didn't put nails under a dryer or even offer too. The one exception is the lady who did my daughters nails was very sweet and caring. If I was to go back I would only ask for her. The rest of the staff had terrible customer service. read more

Worst pedicure ever!! Filthy dirty and everyone was extremely rude!! Do not go here, 2 thumbs down!

Spider webs all in the corners and when I asked the tech to cut my natural nails flush with my finger she said she would file down and I left with much longer nails then I wanted. I asked for gel nails but they didn't have the color I picked out so I had to settle for a different one, and then I told her there was a piece of fuzz at the end of my nail and she painted over it.... thanks. read more

I've been a regular here for quite a while and I'm always happy with my mani/pedis. They are very friendly and have an amazing selection of polishes, and gels sometimes making the decision on color difficult to choose!. The salon is clean, has a pleasant decor and they are very conscientious about the customer needs. I've noticed a steady increase in clientele since I've been coming here so I know I'm not the only one happy with the service! I can highly recommend this salon! read more

My sister and I usually come here for pedicures and they do a nice job. Although this last time I came into star nails I got my nails done with gel. A lady said hello when I walked in, and then told me where to sit and wait for someone to do my nails. This man took my hand and started working. He didn't say two words to me. Then this other lady was next to him. And they were like trading off. I didn't understand what they were doing. When I left I did not like my nails at all, they were so bumpy. I had then redo one of them bc it was so bad. But they didn't even care, they just wanted to be done. It totally rushed, and they were not very polite.
