Do not bother asking for anything more than the most basic pedicure because they will not do any of the "extra" but will charge you for it. I decided to treat myself and my step mother for Mother's Day and asked for the deluxe pedicure for both of us. We were seated 20 minutes after our appointment and sat with our feet in the water for another 25 minutes before someone came over to start the pedicures. The deluxe pedicure is quoted for 45 minutes and gives a mask and an extra 10 minute massage which is what I was excited for. The lady working on my pedicure rushed through my entire service, was roughly pushing and pulling my feet around, and did not do any of the extras that I paid for. My "massage" was not even 2 minutes. Right before the 30 minute mark I was literally pulled out of the chair with her telling me she was done and she sat another client where I had been not even a minute before. If you are charging me $56 for each of us I would like everything I'm paying for. My step mother's pedicure was not much better. Wonderful service for mothers on Mother's Day. I interacted with Kate outside, and she was really nice too. Not happy. About the only good thing is that they pay attention to keeping it clean. I was ready for the prices to jack up for callous removal, but they did such a half assed job. Rushed painting the nails, and rushed us out the door when out toes were still totally wet. Scuffed them on the way home. Heels still dry and calloused. Toenails clipped way too short and crooked. There is NO service, just a bulk-mani/pedi operation where they try to get as many people through, as quickly as possible. Would have complained, but they were already on to their next client/dollar. I have never had a more horrible experience getting my nails done! First the lady cut me three times which, normally I am understanding but three times! Then she didn't even clean the cuts she just kept going blood and all. I got shellac done and it came out uneven in spots and had bubbles from the nail dust! I asked for an accent nail to be glittery white and she did it silver even after I asked her to fix it! :/ I have never let without tipping and I was so frustrated I just left after paying! This place is a rip off. First of all they cut my niece's finger until it bled and then proceeded to simply paint her nails and charge 61$. That's more than I pay for anything I get done and top of the line pedicure. I wouldn't recommend this place. Had an amazing time here! My friend recommended Cindy or Quyen. I got the deluxe mani/pedi, it was so worth it for the extra massage. I bought my own polish sonce I liked the color, Quyen did an amazing job on my manicure. I have small nail beds and fast growing cuticles and she did a great job of shaping the nails and nail beds for a professional look. As it was my first time I didn't realize it was cash only for tip. I offered to run to the atm but she insisted I just pay her next time. It was busy on a Friday afternoon so I highly recommend setting an appointment. This is my second time here for a pedi, both times I have come here I have a great service and my pedis turned out nicely. The decor is rather odd with a giant half boat on one wall and a "crashing wave" above where I sit. Its not ugly, it just feels out of place like I should be in a preschool or VBS. Their sanitization practices are very good as they use a liner in the foot spa; however the salon is a bit unkempt and has a lot of clutter. The lady that gave me my pedi was very sweet and meticulous in her work (which I appreciate). Overall the experience was good, nothing over the top or spectacular. After 3 visits, & tipping fairly well ($10 total each time), I'm rating 1 star for 3 reasons: #1.) Upselling is usually due to management so I don't fault employees, but specifically stating what you want shouldn't be followed by at least 3 instances of upselling on each visit; sometimes more. Promoting gel nails over a standard manicure & then being put on the spot with "Why" is overkill considering the price difference & the upkeep cost, unless clearly stated while being upsold. While the employees have always been very pleasant, not using A/C in E.County during late summer is not pleasant. #2.) Being charged $12 for a basic manicure that literally lasted only 5 minutes since polish wasn't requested ($2 tip this time) is unreasonable when the massage portion lasts barely 1 minute of the 5. The older of the 2 gentleman working there should have reduced the cost considering a massage is said to be included, especially considering he initially agreed to keep the nail shape after trimming, but then said he wasn't able to. This resulted in a much shorter length than expected, however, the pedicurist fixed the shape. The same gentleman, although very nice, gave me a great hand massage 2 days earlier since I paid almost double the basic cost of $12, however, the nail shape wasn't consistent & the polish was thick & uneven & chipped within 1 day. #3.) If toenail polish smears prior to leaving a salon, it would be nice to have it fixed then & there. It was busy, so that wasn't the case, however, the pedicurist told me she would fix it when I went back shortly after leaving. It was busy & maybe that's why she seemed perturbed when asked to repaint the nail in lieu of just painting over the existing polish. The latter would have resulted in chipping. I don't expect perfection by any means, & most of my ratings are 5 star. I realize the precision plus the long hours required in this profession. But with upcharges, I've spent between 50-100% more at Star per visit than other salons, I hold it to a higher standard. To end on a positive note, location is convenient, hours are a bit later than nearby salons, & Star is spacious & clean. A busy salon or bad day can be stressful , but a bit more attention to detail would be sincerely appreciated. read more

The new management here is condescending towards the team. I got my nails dipped and Sophie kept telling me that the rest of the ladies don't know how to dip nails. I find it rude that she tells customers this. Maybe she should teach them how vs. talking negatively about them. I have been going to this salon for years and whenever I walk in she asks me if I'm new to the salon. While the rest of the team says hello. As for many of the reviews of this shop, I must agree that the work is inconsistent. I have visited this nail shop for the past six months and I would say I've been completely satisfied about half of the time. The other half, I have encountered issues such as cutting nails entirely too short to the point of pain, not painting nails close enough to the cuticle causing them to look a few days grown out, too many coats on pedis causing them to chip prematurely, and designs that look extremely amateur. Today I came to the realization I must look for another salon when the lady didn't ask my preference for the nail shape and proceeded to cut my nails on the side making them a a coffin shape. I was honest when asked about my experience and informed the cashier of my dissatisfaction and his response was that next time I should time specify beforehand. I did not consider that an appropriate response and decided a 50% satisfaction rate is not adequate for this place to keep my business. read more

They don't even use soap in their water. I got the European spa pedi and there was no foot scraper for the callous remover. The used a pumice stone which I've never seen before. That should've been my warning. He cut my nails too low and not evenly. A lady came behind him and fixed it. When she finished my paint I said thank you and everyone left. I asked where the dryer was - THERE WASNT EVEN A NAIL DRYER. they said you sit there and let it air dry. WHAT??? I would NEVER recommend this place. My mom had made a reservation so the service was extra attentive, we both recieved excellent manicures and pedicures.
