I've been seeing Nikki for close to decade now and she consistently does amazing work and really gets to know her clients and what they like. I'm the kind of client to give you an idea and let you run wild - and she hits the mark each time. Santee Nails also doesn't play this weird new-gen game of charging you for every little thing under the sun. The photos attached are only a couple out of, like I said, about a decade's worth of nail sets (and don't even include all of the pedicures done by Twin - AN ABSOLUTE SUPERSTAR!). The ladies were initially nice; however, as they worked, I was asking that they fix a couple things: 1) there were little hairs/cotton strands under some nail polish which they applied on the nail, 2) one of them was not applying the top coat on all my nail, and 3) the edges of the nails were smudged. They kept saying they will fix it, and they didn't. I called someone else to come and apply a top coat on the entire nail instead of half of it cause the lady helping me wasn't listening to me, and she came and applied very thick layers of top coat and wouldn't fix the smudged parts, but instead added more top coat to cover it up. I kept telling her it doesn't look good and it won't dry it when it's that thick, but she kept arguing. Eventually, I told them I won't pay for this service because they're not fixing what I've been asking them to fix all along. The lady then started yelling at me and saying she did her best and I can't accuse her of not fixing things if I just don't wanna pay. I told her to stop yelling several times and she wouldn't stop yelling and started going to the other customer wanting to prove me wrong to which I said I won't engage in this and I need to go. Below are a few pictures. My nails immediately got dents in them because the layers of polish were so thick and wouldn't dry out. Terrible customer service and work ethic. Would never go back.i asked to speak to the manager and the lady said the manager wouldn't respond. Last picture is how my nails look after they did a "manicure". Every time I come, they do really well! Nikki is amazing at her job. She's so sweet and friendly, and really helps you make decisions. Often times I show her photos of how I want my nails done, and she gives me a bunch of colors/options. I tell her to choose for me which looks best, and she never disappoints. I had come here for a fill from a different nail salon, and the nail shaping and paint job was horrible, but Nikki made it work and gave me beautiful nails. It's a family and friends owned business, and they are probably some of the sweetest nail techs I've met. They have never been rude or seemed angry and seem like genuinely good people. I prefer going here over other places due to not just the nail quality, but the personality quality as well. read more

Got a mediocre French tip gel pedi. Wasn't busy inside but all the lines on the French tip are of and quickly became stained with the dye from the socks I wore the next day. Cost me $50 and I tipped well but I won't be back :/ I hear better things about their full sets tho! read more

I went there 3-4 times. I wasn't happy even once Most of the time I got acrylics they always messes up with it. They made it tick like toe nail on my hands or the nail drill messed up the shape and they didn't fix the shape for me! And the last time I got just jell color because I knew they did bad job for acrylics they filed my nail in square and round! But they were very careful in removing the previous disaster of a set of nails I had to where she had to soak my nails and slowly chip at them. It's my fiancées and I first time trying Santee Nails out. 1st off the bat I like that this establishment is very clean. You could hardly smell the fumes of nail polish in the air. They use a fresh plastic bag in the water foot bowls for each individual person that gets their pedicure done, which is very sanitary. The pedicure massage chairs are huge and comfy. They hand you the remote and your relaxing with a massage on your back. After clipping the nails, they soak your feet, scrub your feet underneath the foot, they massage your leg and calf which feels amazing. They buff out your nails it's a good experience here. Took my daughter's here to get their nails done today, as a treat before school starts. My oldest daughter's nails turned out thick and unnatural looking. When I told the nail tech in the yellow apron Mai we didn't like them and they were too thick, she said it was due to the color. Ok, fine what color wouldn't look like that? She said she didn't know, so she just sanded the polish off and then didn't have "time" to re-polish her nails. According to her all the colors would look like that and my daughter's nails were done correctly. She did my friends daughter's nails (today also) and they looked ok, as far as I saw at least. We left before she was finished. I guess it's just hit or miss here. I wouldn't recommend this nail salon to anyone i know. My youngest got a different nail tech and liked her nails. She didn't get acrylics though. Below is a picture of the thick acrylic nails my oldest daughter got here. So thick and unnatural looking, they looked like skittles. The picture speaks for itself. I had to take her somewhere else to get them fixed (reshaped and polished) and the color had nothing to do with the issue here. This nail tech just didn't shape the nails correctly. I'm ok with mistakes as long as they're fixed. This lady did NOT want to fix her mistake and even blamed the polish "color" for the way the nails looked and then had the audacity to blame my daughter due to not telling her she didn't like them before she was done. So unprofessional. I'm sure there are some good nail techs here, that stand behind their work, at least I hope. This lady Mai is definitely not one of them. She may just be inexperienced with doing shorter acrylics, which is fine, just say that. Instead of blaming the color or even my daughter for not saying she didn't like them before she was finished. Ridiculous! I'd prefer to give my business to people and businesses that stand behind their work and handle mistakes a little more honorable. read more

Pros: * No wait (late morning during the week) * Seemed clean * A good pedicure * Reasonable prices... Kind of... You get what you pay for. Cons: * Poor selection of non-gel colors. There was not a wide variety, and one color I liked looked like it was liquified--very watered down. It looked like there was water or maybe clear polish in there. * The worst manicure I have every paid for in my life. I got my manicure and pedicure done at the same time. During both, I was zoning out. Why? Well, it's nice to zone out and relax every once and awhile. Also, I guess I TRUST that the work is being done well and that I don't have to analyze every detail. (I was wrong in that assumption.) The manicure was done super quick--record time. I really didn't think anything about it since pedicures usually take longer. Towards the end of the pedicure, I looked down at my nails. They were terribly done (see pictures). First of all, there was polish and clear coat all around the nail bed. I then realized that the technician did not take the 3 extra minutes to clean up the edges with remover/a brush. The color I got was really light, so maybe she thought I wouldn't notice the sloppy work? Or maybe she just forgot? Either way, I was pretty upset. Next, it looked like this technician did not trim my cuticles. I realized that she, in fact, did NOT trim them. She simply removed my previous polish, filed the nails, buffed them, did a micro-mini massage, and did the sloppiest paint job I have ever seen. Annoyed with myself for not paying attention and catching this lack of cuticle trimming sooner, I decided to just tell them to clean up the edges of the extraneous paint and top coat. I told the pedicurist as she was finishing my toes, and she asked another worker. The technician who originally did the terrible job was busy with someone else, so the pedicure technicians had to clean up her mess. The original tech insincerely said "sorry" and kind of laughed about it. Another issue with this place is that while they seem to be very close with regulars, which is good, they did not seem to care about new customers. I am not saying they needed to ask me my life story, but they should have--at the very least--done a good job in their work. This place has good reviews, so I gave it a try. It looks like SOME of the employees may care and do a good job--especially on gel, nail design, etc. However, on a basic manicure, it did not seem like they cared, and they were clearly incompetent with two huge mistakes. I never knew that a manicure could be done so terribly. I can trim and file my own nails and crappily paint them myself at home and save $12. If you need a basic manicure, DO NOT COME HERE. I do not recommend this place at all. The pedicure was solid: No parts were skipped and the tech actually seemed to care. Good massage too. Despite this, I will not come back to this salon ever again since they can't seem to do a basic manicure. read more

Yesterday was my first time trying Santee Nails. I called in the morning and made an appointment for 1:30pm. I arrived 10 minutes prior to my appointment and was seated right away. The place itself is kept very clean. They have a tv and free WiFi. My nail technician was Nikki and I loved her! She was so nice the entire time and patient with me because I took forever trying to decide on a color and design. I got a full acrylic set, coffin shaped, with crystals. I am soo happy with how they turned out!! The shape is perfect and I love the design too! I also got a pedicure too. Their prices are so good here and so is their customer service! Ok let me start off by saying this place is cheap and good. They are friendly...sometimes. I've been coming here for a long time now. They do an amazing job in waxing and doing pedicures. Now, when we are talking about hands that is a different story. One of my recent visits I had to wait a while (which I'm ok with since they were really busy) and they did an amazing job on my pedicure. When it got to my nails not even a full day my two middle fingers (I know hilarious, the irony) chipped; I would understand if I was doing strenuous activites. All I did was have dinner at a friend's house and went to bed. Let me continue, when I was in the salon they were rushing to get me out because it was close closing and forced me to drop my purse and mess up one of my thumb nail. When they "fixed" it it looks worse now then it did when I smeared it. I can't believe I didn't pay attention when this happen. I'm going back this morning for them to fix this. **Update** I went this morning to fix my nails. I will have to say: they fixed it for free, and they apologized and they did an AMAZING job this time. I'm so happy I went back there for them to fix it. I will be going back. read more

I'm not gunna lie, when it comes to getting my nails done, I am extremely picky. I have gone from nail salon to nail salon in search of a place that does them the way I like. Finally a coworker of mine took me to this place last year, and ever since, I've become quite the regular, even though it takes me about 25 minutes to get there. The lady who helps me does my nails exactly the way i like. For some reason, other places I've gone to will not do them as short as I want them to be, but at this place I always leave very happy. I like them to be long, slight flared but more squared and thin. I usually get my tips glitter powder (so they would last me longer, But this time, I've decided to change it up!!..Katy Perry has a line with O.P.I "teenage dream" which is such a beautiful nail polish color! It's glittery, soft pink, a bit peachy, but a very refreshing color..And so much GLITTER..being so gurly i can't ever get enough of GLITTER!! Jenny did a really good job with my nails..I've gotten sooo much compliments since I've got them done. She was clean and very careful when she was working with my nails.
