I've gotten my nails done here before multiple times and there's not one time I've been disappointed. Everyone is so nice and welcoming, and always doing a fantastic job on my nails!

Dent in nail because of thick layers of polish which wouldn't dry

The ladies were initially nice; however, as they worked, I was asking that they fix a couple things: 1) there were little hairs/cotton strands under some nail polish which they applied on the nail, 2) one of them was not applying the top coat on all my nail, and 3) the edges of the nails were smudged. They kept saying they will fix it, and they didn't. I called someone else to come and apply a top coat on the entire nail instead of half of it cause the lady helping me wasn't listening to me, and she came and applied very thick layers of top coat and wouldn't fix the smudged parts, but instead added more top coat to cover it up. I kept telling her it doesn't look good and it won't dry it when it's that thick, but she kept arguing. Eventually, I told them I won't pay for this service because they're not fixing what I've been asking them to fix all along. The lady then started yelling at me and saying she did her best and I can't accuse her of not fixing things if I just don't wanna pay. I told her to stop yelling several times and she wouldn't stop yelling and started going to the other customer wanting to prove me wrong to which I said I won't engage in this and I need to go. Below are a few pictures. My nails immediately got dents in them because the layers of polish were so thick and wouldn't dry out. Terrible customer service and work ethic. Would never go back.i asked to speak to the manager and the lady said the manager wouldn't respond. Last picture is how my nails look after they did a "manicure". I removed the nail polish and my nails don't look neat and my cuticles hurt.

I absolutely love this salon! Everyone here is always so kind. Every time I come in with an inspo pic, I leave with my nails looking better than the inspo!!! They really take their time to make sure you get what you want. They ask if you like how it's looking throughout the process and they're understanding and willing to fix anything you don't like!!! This salon is always so clean and well organized. I definitely recommend this salon 10000/100 !!!!

Been coming here on and off for years. They're one of my favorite spots in this area. I try other places just to see what's around and to have options or if I'm recommended a place I try it. But they were very careful in removing the previous disaster of a set of nails I had to where she had to soak my nails and slowly chip at them. Once that was off she (Mai) put on a whole new set and it didn't take her long at all! They have lots of regulars that go there, very friendly and affordable. Try them out!

Every time I come, they do really well! Nikki is amazing at her job. She's so sweet and friendly, and really helps you make decisions. Often times I show her photos of how I want my nails done, and she gives me a bunch of colors/options. I tell her to choose for me which looks best, and she never disappoints. I had come here for a fill from a different nail salon, and the nail shaping and paint job was horrible, but Nikki made it work and gave me beautiful nails. It's a family and friends owned business, and they are probably some of the sweetest nail techs I've met. They have never been rude or seemed angry and seem like genuinely good people. I prefer going here over other places due to not just the nail quality, but the personality quality as well.

I went there 3-4 times. I wasn't happy even once Most of the time I got acrylics they always messes up with it. They made it tick like toe nail on my hands or the nail drill messed up the shape and they didn't fix the shape for me! And the last time I got just jell color because I knew they did bad job for acrylics they filed my nail in square and round! Some of my nails are square some of them are round And that would be the last time for this place.

Be mindful WHO is doing your nails in this salon. I am not going to generalize the whole place but the lady who did my nail does not know how to cut and di nails! They were cut uneven and was not cleaned properly. I was going to get gel here but right when I saw how she cut my nails and how uneven it was, I changed my mind! I shouldve done my own nails if it looked just like this shit.

I've been going to Santee Nails for years now and always leave with the best set of nails! Nikki consistently kills it whether I'm looking for a simple color or sparkle or am ready to celebrate the holidays! The space is always kept clean and the whole staff is nothing short of sweet and warming! Their pedicures are also so soothing, not to mention they always have something good to watch!

I love my nails and she really took her time and attention to detail, unlike so many places I normally go to. I 100% would recommend and will be back, My nail tech here was so down to earth and chill which as a 17 year old I loved being on the same level with. Everyone here was very friendly and funny and I overall enjoyed my experience and results 10 out of 10.

I went to Nikki consistently every 3 to 4 weeks for almost a year and a half and she always did an amazing job and helped me choose what design to do next. She is patient and does a great job with shaping and design.

Just went here for the first time and loved it!!! Mai did my nails. She was super sweet and did a lovely job. 10/10 will go back!! *Update* I went back and got a full set done by Nikki. She took her time and paid close attention to detail, and I can honestly say that i've never had better nails!! They are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!

OMG!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE MY NAILS!! JENNY YOU ARE AWESOME!! I got a regular full set with my tips polished and gel, only $24. I'm extremely picky when it comes to shaping my nails. I like them to be long, slight flared but more squared and thin. I usually get my tips glitter powder (so they would last me longer, But this time, I've decided to change it up!!..Katy Perry has a line with O.P.I "teenage dream" which is such a beautiful nail polish color! It's glittery, soft pink, a bit peachy, but a very refreshing color..And so much GLITTER..being so gurly i can't ever get enough of GLITTER!! Jenny did a really good job with my nails..I've gotten sooo much compliments since I've got them done. She was clean and very careful when she was working with my nails. I will definately go back to see her for my fill. Thanx Jenny!! Your the best!! read more

First time here and I was very happy. I came in at a good time as everyone was headed out so the lovely Jennifer was able to take care of me right away. She was very sweet and gentle and most importantly, she did a great job! The real test will be to see how long these puppies last ;) It was $27 for my gel fills so the price is pretty average. This is a convenient location for me so I'm hopeful these will last as long as when I used to get them done by another lady (whom I loooved, but she sold the business). Overall, I'm glad I stopped in here. update as of 10/17 The nails held up ok but needed filling within 2 weeks :( as they started to lift and crack. read more

Staff is so nice and they did a great job. New set,shirt with french tip pink and white along with my pedicure with french tip came up to $60 total! Did an amazing job with my cuticles both hands and feet. They know what they are doing and is willing to go above and beyond. My friend xame with and had to pick up her daughter by a certain time, we let the staff know and they rushed to make sure they were done before that time frame. I think i found my new location! read more

I went in there on Monday evening and my nails are already chipping (it's Friday). They started chipping yesterday morning but I didn't have a chance to go back to fix them. Now they're way worse! Feels like I have wasted my money getting my gel mani done here. read more

Don't go even if you're desperate. The younger girl is very rude and disrespectful. Plus we had to go back to have her redo our nails within 2 days. The older women did my nails the second time and the younger one did my friends and within another couple of days my friends nails had come off again. Not worth a stop. Try somewhere else. read more

This review is long over due. I have been coming to Santee Nails for years for my gel manicure and regular pedicure. Nikki and her mom Mai run a wonderful nail salon. Every customer feels welcome. I love this place! It's really a mom and pops establishment. Everyone is very nice. I'm Vietnamese so I understand Vietnamese and they never say anything mean or bad about anyone. They just talk about work like who is next and get that pedicure chair ready for that person. Pedicures are $20 and you get salt rub on your feet and legs and a massage for both. They take their time and my feet have always looked good after and up to 3 weeks after. There may be a wait sometimes cause they don't have a lot of nail techs but call ahead of time and they'll tell you approximately how long it will take. They'll tell you the truth. Not like other places that tell you 10 min and it's over and hr and you're still waiting. The lady does eyebrows is really good too. She makes my sparse eyebrows look full. Try them you will like them. read more

This was my 1st time coming to Santee Nails and most likely my last - The girl who did my nails, was very nice. She was very quiet, but very nice. Since I was new, you would tend to think that you would get great service seeing how they'd want you to come back. Yeah- No, not so much the case. I went here specifically because they do Cal Gel nails. Its a manicure that lasts longer than the average, with some fancy la la gel and nail polish combo - that will not chip off, break your nails , smudge, blah blah .. when applied correctly - it works and its AWESOME. So the girl was 1/2 way through my appointment when some old heifer walked in wanting a pedicure, so her slave driver of a boss , starts screaming at her in their language, so then she starts to hustle and ends up doing a shitty job on my manicure and nails. She didn't even file my nails properly, She didn't even use cuticle oil or lotion, 2 kinda key parts of the manicure. The gel was already set and in place, she didn't even go to the nail line, she applied 2 coats, should of at least done 3. Its uneven in the polish and I'm just completely not satisfied. When finished, I said in a very nice way , if you had another appointment I could of come back, she said no I didn't know. So I said oh OK, well I wont be back . I'm not one who even usually gives a crap about my nails, at least not in the last 5 yrs or so, I used to have mega crazy acrylics for years... Maybe I just got spoiled with the white girl shops - seems to me its not such a sweat shop for nails and they take their time and if they talk shit about you its behind your back and not to your face while in the shop. I have been to this place twice and both times have been very satisfied with the outcomes! The lady who gave me pedicure really took her time and was super precise. I like my nails cut really, really short and she managed to do exactly that. The polish came out perfect as well. Massage was A+ I also had my eyebrows done. Now I never get my eyebrows waxed anymore (always threaded) so was already a little bit apprehensive about getting them done. My jungle woman eyebrows left me no choice, however, and I decided to give their waxing service a try. My eyebrows came out so beautiful! I was so, so, so happy with them. Too bad I don't live in San Diego anymore otherwise this would be my go-to nail place. read more

The ladies who work at this salon are not only professional but extremely talented at their trade. As a woman who has been visiting salons since her pre-teen years I can assure you that the prices are unbeatable, especially considering the quality of work. If you suffer from ingrown toenails or could use a killer leg/foot massage, ask for Lynn or Linda. If you enjoy a fabulous set of perfect acrylics ask for Jenny or Mai (pronounced "My"). And lastly, if you want stunning results from your wax job, Mai is your girl! Remember to tip well (20% is standard), these ladies don't work for the joy of your company (although I'm sure you are a titillating conversationalist!) read more

So ever since I moved to San Diego, I've been on a mission to find a new nail spot. Unfortunately, I must have hit all the horrible ones before finding a place worth sticking to. I don't live or work anywhere near Santee, but let me tell you, if I hear you have good reviews, then you can be sure I'll be driving my ass to Santee. I called Santee Nails and made an appointment for 5:30 when I was off work. The location is easy to find and the parking is plenty. I went on a Tuesday night and the salon wasn't empty but it wasn't packed. The girls greeted me and sat me down right away. Everyone was super friendly. They had a big flat screen in front of the pedicure chairs with Anthony Bourdain on (that's how I knew I'd like this place) I didn't get the lady's name who did my nails, but she was wonderful! Best pink and white since I've moved to San Diego. I've only had them on for a couple days and I've had so many compliments already. The reason I didn't give five stars is because the atmosphere of the salon. I use to go to the salon to relax and be at ease, but this nail salon isn't very "spa" like. With that aside, you can be assured that I will definitely be making my way out to Santee every few weeks! read more

I was excited at first to try to find a good nail place in Santee but Was very disappointed after coming to this nail salon, I did research after and realized that the reason my gel nail polish only lasted 3 days was because the girl who did my nails only put a thin line of the gel base she did not put it all over my nail and only did a thin strip in the middle of nail so I guess they purposely don't want to use the product the customer is paying for, not coming back. read more

Walked into this establishment today at 3pm, they close at 5. They basically said they don't have time for me and that was that. So in 2 hours you don't have time, mind you there was nobody waiting on the couch. So i headed down the street to Lux Nails where they were much more busy but accepted me and said to give them 10 minutes. read more

Went here for the first time last weekend for a gel manicure ($25). Two nails were chipped the next day. The next day 4 nails started to lift. Didn't even get a full day of nice nails. Won't be going back. Would rather pay $5 more for a manicure that lasts at least a week. read more

I made an appointment here based on the good yelp reviews it had. The ladies working here are very nice. I got a spa pedicure and gel manicure. The pedicure was great, nice massage and even put exfoliating scrub on my legs at no extra charge. They don't have a large nail polish selection but I didn't mind. Total cost was $40 for gel manicure and spa pedicure. The cheapest I've ever paid for both services! will be returning! read more

I have had my nails done many places none of which come close to turning out how I ask for them, and all of which left me critiquing the nail "artist" as she glued my tip on crooked or left bubbles before I left shop, or as often happened cut my skin to the point of bleeding. NONE OF THAT HAPPENS AT SANTEE NAILS! I have 2 kids and no longer regularly get my nails done however I call Mai to make an appointment and she immediately knows who I am and asked how my husband and daughter are. I am amazed at their ability to come as close to perfect as they can. I have never left this salon unhappy and if anything happens they are happy to fix it. Mai and her girls are not afraid of a challenge and always leave me ecstatic with my full set. They work wonders on toes and can do wonderful design work as well as get those pesky ingrowns out without hurting you. I love this shop and feel stupid going anywhere else as I always end up right back here. I do recommend an appointment as Mai values her time and will not rush her customers to fit anyone in :-) read more

Not so sure about this place. The inside layout and decor was a bit off and the color choices for Polish were near the back, kind of in an awkward spot. I came in unannounced Wednesday afternoon, and was sat quickly just for a gel polish removing.($5.00) I was assisted by two girls, one got up and walked away and a totally different gal sat down a couple minutes later. Not offended at all, just a tad weird. Getting down to removing the gel from my nails she uses the electric file they usually use for the acrylic nails, and she kept hitting my cuticles with it and OUCH. what?! I've always had my nails wrapped with cotton and foils to break it down. They also let my hands sit in acetone. Another ouch. Not so fun. Glad I got the gel off my nails but I don't know that I'll be back. read more

I've been here twice now, and each time i was very pleased with my choice in nail salons! The first time i went, i got a full set of pink and whites , which was A LOT CHEAPER than what i'm use to. I usually pay around the 40 to 45 dollar range for them, and here i was only charged 33 and that was including the gel coat on top! They didn't take very long to do my nails at all, and were quite pleasant and didn't hurt me one bit (sometimes manicurists can get a little rough). The second time ( which was yesterday) i got a fill to the previous set that they had put on. I was able to wait about 3 weeks in between , which i haven't been able to do for quite some time ( its hard to find a nail place that does work that good! ) The lady that filled my nails was an absolute joy to be around! She was very funny and cracking jokes, and just having a good time doing my nails, and then before i knew it she was done! It was quite nice to have a pleasant distraction while my nails were being done. This time i was charged $17! Not bad at all!!! I definitely will be keeping this place as my new nail salon! I know that there is a place like a block away from me, but id much rather drive the extra 10 mins to get them done here!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!! oh, and i almost forgot to mention... the quality of work is AMAZING as well... its hard to believe that you get such great work for so cheap!! read more

I love my nails. I only say this because a year ago all I did was bite my nails and I got tired of how raggedy they looked so I decided to grow them out. I had gone to Santee Nails for nye and the service was amazing. I love that they take their time. I love if their is an issue they are quick to fix it. I even adore how they are honest with customers if they are busy. I have been to nail salons that tell you just wait 10 mins, and 30 mins later you are still waiting. They recently did some upgrades so new pedicure chairs and manicure tables, and they added a ton of new gel colors. Alright and the reason for this post is for the awesome Mei. For awhile there I was seeing Jen, who was amazing but she went back to school and the schedules were conflicting so I switched over to Mei for convince. I adore them both but Mei well her nails make me happy. I get tons and I mean tons of compliments on my nails. What I'm asking for isn't no easy job either and she has always always risen to the occasion. These aren't tips just my natural nail with gel and art. They are shaped well, the polish last till I go back, but most important they make me smile. Mei deserves an awesome review for her awesome service. read more

I wanted to finally find a nail place that I could go to regularly and unfortunately I won't be back. I went in for a pink & white fill. All the nails on my left hand were filled and all the nails on my right hand were redone with brand new tips and acrylic. Within one week all the nails on my right hand were lifting and by two weeks I had two nails completely come off. The nails on my left are beginning to lift but still haven't fallen off. I can always go 4 weeks between fills and am very disappointed that two weeks later I'm losing nails. As for other reviews... The owners 4 year old daughter was in the shop. She was not disruptive, however the other employees were taking care of her. read more

Very pleased! I rarely get pedicures because (1) I feel like I can do it myself (2) why pay the money and (3) haven't found many places that don't make you feel like they are talking crap about you in their language. But I digress... I had a vacation day and after 2 days of moving decided it was time for pedi. $18 = spa pedicure with scrub, massage chair, foot and leg massage, callus scrub & polish. Jenny was very nice and did a great job - and speedy, too! They had a flatscreen TV set up across the chairs tuned to the Travel Channel, which was cool. Though it's not the most posh-looking of nail salons, they do a good, clean job, at a great price. Also, although the ladies were chatting in their own language, I didn't get the impression that they were angry and talking smack. All of them were very friendly and kind. Will definitely be heading back! read more

One of my friends just graduated so we decided to stop in here to get mani-pedis before their graduation ceremony. Overall: IMO, Inconsistant quality. 1st and 2nd times were good gel coat manicures. Same person. 3rd time, different person, Gel Coat, This time, Not very good, girl was distracted by looking and talking to co workers, while working on my nails. Results were Lack of coverage to nail bed and sides and globs of excess and areas of less color. She wanted to put 2nd coat, I knew that would not fix it. So I paid and left. I have been a long time client at Santee nails. Nikki is always very accommodating and very personable. My nails are always so beautiful when I leave and the prices are very fair for the quality of work. I'm always impressed by how clean it is ! Lina had a great solution and did an amazing job matching it with an acrylic extension--you can't even tell in the photo. That said, if you're in a similar situation, I'd recommend asking for Gel-X instead of acrylic. The acrylic ended up feeling loose and didn't hold well, so I had to come back before leaving for a trip. To their credit, Sunny Nails squeezed me in the very next day. Another technician quickly assessed the issue, removed the acrylic, and replaced it with Gel-X (a full, strong nail--not just a tip). The result was flawless--she shaped it beautifully, and I was able to enjoy my trip with perfect nails. The only downside was the experience during the fix. The technician seemed frustrated, didn't respond to my thank you, and abruptly turned off the blue light and walked away without acknowledgment. It felt a bit uncomfortable--especially since I had already paid extra for the initial service and had to come back. Overall, they made it right, and I appreciate the quality of the final result--just wish the customer experience during the correction matched it.

I had confirmed an appointment well in advance and confirmed again via phone call the morning of but it didn't matter. While I can't say much about their work, it seems that scheduling appointments gets rather disorganized around the busy times/holidays. Pretty disappointing.

I know lots of places get busy and forget about the overall look, not this place. Their prices are also very fair. They have manicures ranging from 20-52 depending on the type and if you want gel. I was also told it was due to my natural nails, but I've had my nails done at other salons and never experienced these issues, so I don't believe that's the case. I really appreciate their willingness to fix the work, but I'd prefer a place that gets it right the first time without needing adjustments. Especially since those adjustments aren't the best either... Getting your nails done should be a fun, relaxing experience, not one where you're worried about the outcome each time.

I have to say to start with this is the 3rd time I have places this review. I placed it 2 weeks ago and within a few days it was down. I placed it last week and it was down. So here it is again. Not sure why the review is being taken down..... 8/17/2010 This is the WORST place ever. I would not take my dog here. My friend and I went in for a fill and pedicure. We both stated several times that we wanted just the basic spa pedicure. The place is very small, hot and old looking and there were only 4 pedicure chairs. You would think the workers would have had the good sense to seat the ladies already getting pedicures next to each other in case someone came in with a friend. We had wanted to get pedicures together not 2 seats apart. We asked if we could wait and were told no because there was an appointment scheduled for 30 minutes later (no one showed up 30 minutes later) The lady who trimmed my toe nails cut me and tried to blame me for moving which I did not. The pedicure was very fast and very little massage. I had wanted just a basic red with a flower and when I looked down they had placed glitter over the red. I didn't ask for this nor did I want I want this. I guess I should have been watching her a bit closer. At this point between not sitting with my friend, the cut toe, the glitter and how hot it was in the building we decided to skip the fills. We went to pay and the best part was they attempted to bill us for the deluxe pedicure claiming we said we wanted it. We had both specifically told them basic pedicures. Needless to say I refused to pay the extra and left with no tip. We will NOT be back read more

I wrote this last week and now it seems to be gone hummmm...I am giving 1 star only because I have to. I have been getting my nails done for over 10 years and this is the worst worst place in Santee. I have no idea how are why anyone would give this place a good review. First off I went in with my daughter and we could not sit together as they only have 4 pedi chairs and they had other people sat in every other seat..ok no biggie I guess but still annoying second they did my fill at the same time as my pedi which i hate Third they were playing a rated R movie that had full nudity with no regard that my preteen daughter was there. Forth a roach crawled across the floor. Ok so now its a couple of weeks later. This nails lifted like crazy and the girl that did the fill did not fill them all the way down and by week 1 it looked like it had been 2 weeks. When I was at 2 weeks it looked like 4 weeks. The polish on my daughters toes wore off in less than a week and the gem they put on fell off the same day. This place is just awful... read more

I'm super picky with the grinder tool and sterilized towels and tools, and this place is great. I got a pink and white full set and I showed Jenny a special design I found on google of a Hello Kitty and she was totally up for the challange! Aaaand it was all only $35! I'm also super tough on my nails, I've been working so crazy I havent had a chance to get in, its been like 3 weeks and no breaks!!! I recently moved to Santee & I've been to this place before & it was ok but I believe in 2nd chances. Some of the the girls don't speak English very well but then the other girl would translate. They did a great job on my toes & gel mani. I like how they treated me as if we were friends & were very friendly...(even though the girl working on me spoke very little English) Also, I was in a rush to get out & the girls worked as a team to get me out ASAP.
