I loved it. I got the best steak that I've had in a really long time. My husband ordered the ahi tuna, though it was a bit of a small portion, he liked what was there. We each got our favorite meal. We havent thought enough of this spot for dinner despite frequently finding it a great spot for lunch.It will not show up on tourist radar, (thank goodness!)but the food is great and service friendly and atmosphere in a booth was cozy. Try the broiled brussel sprouts- the outside leaves are just the right crispiness & the sauce compliments without overwhelming. The corvina a mild flaky white fish was cooked perfectly over creamy grits. Wednesday is half price wine night making this an even greater value. Enjoyed a lovely meal at Stack's last night. Our foursome enjoyed fabulous starters - tuna nachos and calamari. For our mains we loved the cornmeal crusted flounder with grits and butter beans and strip steaks special with truffle mashed potatoes and delicious brussel sprouts. Our high backed booth allowed us to be properly separated from other diners. Owner greeted us and staff were masked and provided friendly service. We will be back! read more

Stack's is my hidden gem in Mount Pleasant. Not that I keep it a secret, but because it is not well known yet. For the longest time my friend who works there kept saying, "I am working at Stacks tonight" and I was like, "where is this pancake house you keep going to?" Until finally, I went there to find out it is fresh homemade deliciousness and no pancakes are on the griddle! There are two different sides to the restaurant: Stacks Coastal Kitchen and Stack Evening Eats. Coastal kitchen is open during the day until 3 and I have to say I eat lunch here at least once a week with my friend Susan. We normally just text each other randomly and say 12:15? and do not even question where we are meeting. I always order their turkey and avocado sandwich sub sprouts for the baby spinach and it has never let me down. All the ingredients are always fresh and everything is made in house. I was as equally impressed with their dinner side also! The meatloaf is to die for and the tomato basil soup could make any rainy day a little bit better, but make sure you ask for the crackers! read more

All I noticed was that everyone, and I mean the bartender too, was busy texting and doing everything except waiting on his customers. I had take out from stacks 6/10/2020 and as always food was good. I'm disappointed and wont return due to their lack of good virus protection practices. The employees did not wear masks, the people sat next to each other at the bar and no social distancing, while SC virus numbers continue to go through the roof. I'm very disappointed with them because many other restaurants, Burtons Grille/5 loaves, etc all have employees in masks and gloves..............sorry but won't be back read more

This was my second time to this restaurant. Let me just say the food is excellent. However, last night we had a very unpleasant time as this restaurant struggles to get food out if the crowd approaches 30. After waiting over an hour for our entree we asked the female (extremely short haired surly bartender) where our food was. She immediately became extremely condescending and launched into "bartendersplaining" how everyone had had to wait an excessive amount of time for their food. As you can imagine by that point we had not expected a lecture from the bartendress. The rest of the staff has always been very nice there...and thankfully a manager took charge and comped our wine. Went to Stacks for lunch with a friend, ordered the "Special," Mahi mahi on salad with candied pecans, red onion and carrots with Green Goddess dressing; $9.50 for this. I was sorely disappointed. The Mahi Mahi portion was all of about the size of 1/3 of a dollar bill, I estimate a 2 ounce portion.... no candied pecans. Basically, I got a very small slice of fish on top of lettuce for $9.50. We live on Daniel Island and this was our go to place at least once every two weeks. They had the best meatloaf sandwiches! We haven't been there in the last two months, because the meatloaf recipe has changed. The first time I noticed it, I tho't it was an off day. A couple of weeks later, I got the same. We went to Stacks for a birthday dinner. We were greeted warmly and the service throughout or meal was excellent. We were pleased to find out that bottles of wine are half-price on Weds., so had a nice Sauvignon Blanc. There were 6 of us and all of the dishes we had were delicious, fresh, and creative. The seared tuna nachos were incredible! We also really liked the unique white bean dip they served with bread. The pork chop was thick, perfectly cooked (juicy!) and served with a flavorful bourbon sauce. The cornflake crusted flounder was crunchy and served with creamy grits, butter beans, and an interesting sauce. We left very full and happy! It is a lovely gem of a restaurant and we will return. The name is a bit confusing, because Stacks makes me think of pancakes or sandwiches, however they serve upscale, modern, southern dinners. Stacks is apparently the owners last name. read more

Had the pastrami, wife had the tuna mini burgers, kids had tuna fish and BBQ shaved pork. Everyone loved their food. They lose 1 star because we were the only ones there and it took about 15 -20 minutes to get the 4 sandwiches. They lose another star because of pricing. 4 sandwiches, no chips or anything, 1 water and 3 fountain drinks was over $40. To me that's a little pricey for sandwiches. Again, though, sandwiches were very good, so if you don't mind a little wait and a slightly over priced sandwich, this is your place. read more

On family vacation in Isle of Palms. Our first time here, so finding great places to eat was a high priority. We visited Stack's for lunch and was so pleased with the meal that we went back a couple days later for dinner. The boys both ordered the grilled ribeye with smoked gouda mac & cheese and loved it. My wife ordered the pork chop and based on the few bites I stole, it was likely the best pork chop I've ever had. I ordered the tuna and it was as good as the best I've experienced. The food is very fresh and uniquely tasty. The service and ambiance were both fantastic as well. I highly recommend Stack's for lunch and dinner. read more

After hearing rave reviews about Stacks from friends, I was eager to head over and give it a try. I arrived before my friend and was served a drink while I waited. The table had a film of sticky residue. That, combined with the fact that I was the lone occupant of the place surprised me. I expected to have to wait for a table due to it's apparent popularity. My friend arrived and we approached the cashier to order. They had just run out of the corn and crab chowder so I opted for the salmon salad. You pay ahead and I optimistically, left a pretty nice tip on my credit card slip. When our dishes arrived at the table my salad had a pile of shredded salmon, some pink, some grey, on the top of my greens. Expecting more of the typical filet presentation, I asked the woman if they prepared the salmon from fresh, there in the restaurant. What I was really asking was, "Did this come out of a can, because that's what it looks like." She went back to ask and came back quickly to tell me that no, they receive it pre-smoked (and macerated, I presumed). As gross as it looked I was willing to give it a shot until, before she had even left us I spied a strange sort of root or branch like object peeking out of my baby field greens. I grabbed the end of it and withdrew the 4 inch freakish appendage from my salad. No sooner had the word "What..." escaped my lips as she rightfully whisked the offending plate away. Ok, so far, not so great Stacks! Now, I should have just asked for my money back and gotten the heck out of there because my friend was just about done with her soup so why stick around!? But I was starving, so I changed my order to the pimento cheese sandwich and upon it's arrival, asked the server how we would resolve the disparity in cost between the salmon salad and the cheese sandwich. Now, I didn't expect them to comp me, or give me a slice of one of the yummy looking desserts to try on the house, but it would have been a nice gesture. Instead what I got was a dollar and some change dropped into my hand to make up the difference. Of course, they kept my tip! Now, things happen and I'm not holding the creepy root/branch salad against them but I have experienced first had what it's like to own a business where pleasing the customer is priority one. It doesn't take much to smooth over a mishap. In this case, the main offense was the fact that, no effort what so ever is given to make me want to ever set foot in Stacks again or recommend it to anyone...ever. read more

Traveling from Southern California and had heard about this restaurant from a friend, we had to try it while in town. First impression as you walk in is great looking decor from the lighting to the tables. Huge bar with great woodwork and granite counter top. Very much like a place that my wife and I would call "our spot" if it were back home. Friendly staff as we were seated right away on a Friday night (yes we made reservations and I do recommend that you do as well). Ordered drinks and a few appetizers. Tuna Tataki, Ravioli stuffed with Butternut Squash and an order of assorted Olives. Next up was the Tuna Nachos (don't let the name fool you, Heaven was already taken). Onto the Ceasar Salad. And for the entrée, Grilled Salmon over house made Spinach Fettuccine with sautéed spinach, tomatoes, olives and zucchini. This was by far one of the best meals my wife and I have had in the 25 years we've been together. Oh yeah, we finished the night off with an amazing chocolate brownie with a cream cheese top. On our trip to Charleston last month we had the opportunity to have dinner here. We were a party of four (3 serious foodies) who had checked out the menu online in advance. We were seated promptly and drink orders were taken with a full bar and great wine selection. We knew for sure we wanted to try the seared tuna nachos we had read about which were amazing, as well as the pan seared scallops and mussels. We devoured our appetizers which were nicely prepared. Two of us ordered the corn flake flounder (I subbed my grits for the Gouda Mac cheese) with butter beans which was a delicious and filling meal. The other two in our party had the grilled ribeye which they both enjoyed as well. We were too full for dessert but they make them on site so next time we return it will be for drinks, appetizers and dessert!
