This Vinnie's is huge and has a fantastic book section. It's definitely the one I go to when I am craving a good book thrifting day. They have good prices across the board and I can almost always find something I like. The people who work here are nice and always friendly. The parking lot is a bit chaotic and can be hard to get through when it's busy. The bathrooms are not coded and are clean. This is definitely one of the better Vinnie's stores in the area. read more

I was dropping off a few items to donate at the store today. I noticed an item that had been dropped off earlier and casually said to the attendant,Leon. I've been looking for one of these. He told me, He would check to see if someone could price it quickly. So while I was shopping he found me in the store and said he was able to price it. I was so surprised that he went to so much trouble for me. He provided excellent customer service. He was polite, thoughtful and so considerate. Went in with my partner & a friend, who are Mexican -- I am white. Multiple people were in the store, but I bet you can guess who the staff decided to follow closely. St. Vinny's prices have been rising in absurdity for donated items, and to racially profile people who ended up making purchases is abhorrent. I love a good thrift store! There's nothing like a great bargain, and saving money means you can buy more stuff. This store is huge and has a large amount of product in it. I don't mind this store, it's not my favorite, but it's not bad. I went in randomly with my husband recently when we were on this side of town to eat at Izzy's Pizza. Had I not been in the area for other things, I wouldn't make a special trip to this store. I wandered around the store. The book section is pretty big. Housewares is large as well, but it feels cramped in this area, and it can be hard to really search for anything. The isles are small, so it's hard to get around. I found a shirt that I really liked, and it had the 25% color tag on it. The employees seem pretty nice, and are helpful. They are always friendly, never going above and beyond to help or do anything special, but they are OK. I've never had a problem with anyone, they just aren't memorable. It's not a store I frequent all too often, just because it is so far away from where I live and work. I only stop here when I am in the area. read more

St. Vinnies has a huge problem with crime and theft in and around their stores. To deal with the problem, the organization hires employees who are supposed to double as ad hoc security in case of any of a myriad of unforeseen problems they may have. The way this is done creates many problems. To put it bluntly, they profile their customers. Meanwhile, all the crime continues on unabated. If you visit this store, which I used to be a customer of for around 20 years, do yourself a favor, and pay attention to your surroundings. Ask yourself if you think you are in a safe environment. Maybe that day, there's nothing sketchy going on, but in the many many years I was a customer at their stores, I saw quite a few occurrences that really shouldn't have been allowed to happen. Meanwhile they rag on some of their most loyal customers and try to passively aggressively drive them out of their stores. Without a specific negative behavior, they won't throw you out of the store, but they will make you feel very very uncomfortable to be there if they have your number. Keep your head on a swivel if you visit this store! read more

My husband and I just came from the Seneca St. Vincent Depaul. What a wonderful, wonderful place. Such a great array of things nicely displayed, very nice employees, the hardest part of using the place is finding a cart because everybody nowadays wants to claim that they are seniors and disabled and I'm both of those! So, we really needed a cart. It's a great place to go and the gentleman named Jim at the cashier was such a sweet, sweet wonderful person. Thank you for a great time there! read more

I wish I could give a negative star. I purchased a small table that was outside, and forgot to grab it on my way o because I was having a day im sure you can all understand that. When I realized I did not grab it I called them about 10 times with no answer. So I couple days later when I was able to I drove There and told them what happened. They had sold it to someone else, and the manager refused to give me store credit because "it wasn't there" so she accused me of trying to steal 10$ from them in store credit. I've spent so much money at this store and have donated so many items. I would not support this store. They for something for free, doubled their money then would refuse to listen to me and avcused me of being a thief. read more

Recently, they decided to stop sorting their clothing and shoes by size, now, they sort by style and color instead. Bad idea! There is a reason pretty much every other store in the universe sorts by size. What customer would want to waste hours sorting through the entire store when only a small percent of it is actually their size?! Who has time for that?!! Also, they've recently decided to raise their prices. Interesting, considering they were already overpriced... I'm pretty much over St. Vinnie's until they put things back in size order. They still sort by size, but they sort by color within the size. Sometimes there's a wrong size stuck in accidentally, but overall, they do a pretty darn good job. They also alphabetize their books, that are separated by category, which Goodwill doesn't do. I haven't checked the shoes lately, so I don't know about that. I'm a popular size, so have a hard time finding shoes my size there anyway. The prices are still sometimes a little high, and they do take out really nice items and price them higher. Overall? It's a lot cheaper than buying clothes new, and you can find things there that are new, with the tags still on them. They're a good deal, and I've found art supplies, great books, clothes, purses, furniture... I usually shop at the one on Division, and I really like that one. I don't think the other reviewer who claimed they weren't sorting by size anymore really was paying attention, because she's right, that would make absolutely no sense whatsoever. It does get confusing with the colors within the sizes, and you have to pay attention to the signs to see what section you're in. There are also tags on the racks (the round plastic ones) that indicate the size section you're in. They're a great place to shop, and they have other services they help provide to people in need through their main office. read more

I always like St. Vincent's. Even though it's disappointing how over-priced some things are, it's still a good ole' thrift store when it comes to books and shirts and kitchen stuff. And they have the 50% off sticker rotation which is fun and thrifty. I think sometimes they forget that their stuff has been donated. I don't understand why they charge so much for video games, for example. I guess the obvious reason: because they can... but usually thrift stores have cheap prices so it kind of doesn't make sense. The same game will generally cost less at a used video game store. Once in a while they do put one out for cheap which is nice of them :) Also, I have been able to haggle a little at this location which is much appreciated. I am a book-a-holic. The library sections at all of the locations are wonderful. The books are organized and cheap. I love the half of sales. I always find books at the Seneca location. The staff there is helpful. I shop there about once a week. When I needed a new dryer I shopped at the Seneca location. I found one I love for about $150. It works great for a very reasonable price. Again the staff were helpful in selecting the right dryer for our needs. read more

Great little store to find treasures. Has fair prices. I think this store is better priced then most of the other stores it owns in town. Definitely worth stopping into. Has clothing, furniture, households, books and much more. I always leave with something. Has a sign that show what the discounts are for the day. Normally color coded. *This review is for St. V's Appliance Dept. in general - the item came from this location. I just bought a $359.99 refrigerator. I was told by at least 5 employees in calls to several stores and in person shopping that their appliance people "have a long list of things that is checked on every appliance before they're put on the floor". So NOT True: It looked pretty clean on the inside, little details on the outside were paid attention to - the handles were spray painted. I hauled it home myself because they couldn't tell me when it could be delivered and it'd already been 3 days of no cooling in my full old one; blocks of ice will save food only for so long. They got it in my truck, but apparently weren't allowed to help me situate and tie it down - even tho I'd been told they would and I'm a 68 yr old woman on my own. After getting it home, the horrible smell of the extremely scented dryer sheets in both compartments took over my kitchen; several hours washing with borax and vinegar the inside, the baskets, bins & shelves was necessary. (FYI: that smell is not just a harmless odor.... it's toxic chemicals that should not be breathed or absorbed by your food; so whoever's idea that is.... it's a bad one. A few cases of baking soda couldn't cost that much.) Finally, plugged it in, Yay!, I can save some of my food! However, pretty quickly noticed It was too loud and vibrating more than should. Pulled it back out, took off the motor cover - 2 mins. & a screwdriver - to find the entire underneath was disgustingly filthy with not normal household dirt. Everything, the coils, wires, tubing, fan, and motor were full of mouse shit and wads/balls/bits of shredded insulation. They had chewed most of the foam covers from copper tubing as well. And the compressor vibrates. Obviously, as in without a doubt, this fridge had been picked up (for free) from a very dirty garage or outbuilding, plugged in - 'yes, it turns on and gets cold', had the shell and inside prettied up, and price tagged for $360. Yeah, that's a really long list of things checked....NOTHING else was done. So great! they'll take it back! So all my time shopping, transporting, getting favors unloading it, cleaning it, discovering that if I use it, it'll be blowing contaminated dirt all over my floors (so nice when my crawling grandbaby visits!) Plus now all my food lost and how many more days before I can eat normally with a working refrigerator. And, do I have to load it up and take it back??? I'm angry and upset because I was lied to. I made a big decision and paid what to me is a high price for a 16 yr old fridge because I trusted it would be reliable and trouble free; I believed it had been thoroughly checked out and anything not working fixed or replaced. I've been a fan of St. Vincent de Paul here since the '50s. When I have anything to donate, they're the first place I go. I always wash or clean everything I donate. While I was still working I would always take my elderly wealthy clients treasures there. They're usually the only place I shop for used items. I've donated to the family shelter. I'm elderly, I have some serious health issues, this has been a taxing and unnecessary setback for me. read more
