I have the Green Bag service which is convenient. However, if you aren't paying atten6tion, you are getting ripped off. It seems that their fee is just not enough for them. Every time I drop them off, (like every other month), I usually have 4 bags, filled completely full. The first couple times, I thought, this count doesn't seem to be coming out correct as when I refund my own cans I get about $10 a bag, 80 to 100+ cans per. Well, their count is more like 60 per bag, which means, I lost a bag? hmm.. Well, I sent them a message and I eventually got refunded properly after a few weeks. A small note: This is only happening when I go to the Eugene bottle drop, Springfield so far has been pretty accurate, maybe a few missing, I can handle that. So now, I thought, why not count them as I take them from my can bins to the bags so I know exactly how many to expect. There, perfect, my bags had 90, 90 , 90, 110. Nice even numbers. But wait, how did they only count 60, 85, 84 & 75?. There's that missing bag again(almost) because that leaves 76 cans unaccounted for. Then I thought, if they do this to every customer @ $7 - $10 a pop and lets say a modest ~15 customers per hour, someone is getting over $800 in a days work of ripping all of us off. That's pretty good money. Maybe instead of college, I should have invested in a bottle drop and hired me a couple of those quick moving punders they got back there. Then I wouldn't have these student loans to pay off, but a solid daily cash flow coming in, 'off the books' and I wouldn't have to do any math or reading or be respectful, & especially wouldn't have to know how to count. Just make a guess, flip a coin or something, and go with it, divvy up out back b=just be fore dusk and call it a day. The upstanding citizens, either running this establishment, or working there (I admit, it could be either) down there at the bottle drops, are doing it now, and they have been for some time, they are ripping you off too, I guarantee it. There are plenty of psycho's, right there, right within your own little footprint, you walk buy them, and you say hello every day. Trust me. The homeless are not the biggest problem in this city, they are just a scape goat for everyone to look down on. To pass pre-dispositioned, judgement based on pure fabricated nonsense at, just for people to make themselves feel relevant, and overall, better about their own worth. Well it's the only place near me and all the homeless flock there, they might even live out back. The employees were friendly. Don't do it, the clientele is just to insane, talking to themselves and such. I couldn't wait to get out of there and never come back. read more

This is a Great process and how can anyone complain....???. Just buy the bags they offer and fill them up and all you have to do is drop it off. They take their cut and you don't have to deal with long lines, broken machines, stinky environs, etc. I've been just recycling my cans and bottles the last few years cuz I couldn't stand dealing with how much of a pain in the butt it was to return deposits. And was feeling guilty that I paid for the deposits and just throwing them away! But this place is awesome and worth the Efforts!! read more

The clientele at Bottledrop is, almost without exception, the destitute and the homeless. They have spent their day scrounging bottles and now they need some cash. Don't go there in the hour or so before closing, or you will have to compete with them, and trust me, they will have more bottles and cans than you do. Bottledrop is well-managed; my only complaint is with the company you will have to keep to do business there. I always feel like I should donate my cash to the guy feeding bottles to the machine adjacent to mine. read more

When I was in college, I had quite the Orange Crush habit. In an attempt to offset the cost of this habit, I would save cans and bottles in my dorm room. But not having easy access to a redemption center (and no car, bike or cart with which to move my ever-growing collection) I often found myself sleeping and studying next to an aluminum mountain, which would accumulate for weeks and months on end...Needless to say, my roommates hated me. These days, all I have to do is throw all my redeemable bottles and cans into a durable, green BottleDrop bag, wait 'til it's full, and take it over to Eugene's BottleDrop Oregon Redemption Center, where I have the options of 1.) My first visit to the Eugene BottleDrop was several weeks ago with a few shopping bags of cans and bottles in my trunk. After driving through a blocks long homeless camp along W Broadway, I pulled into the parking lot where a number of sad individuals were waiting in a very long line to redeem their cans and bottles. I was unwilling to go through that process so I gave my bags to someone in line and left. Determined to give Bottle Drop a second chance, I returned to the BottleDrop website where I set up an account and found a more attractive option - Green Bags. After downloading the app and with another trunk load of cans, I drove past the W Broadway scene comprised of the desperate and homeless and into the grimy parking lot. Walking into the Bottle Drop facility was chaos. The atmosphere was that of the pound but noisier and dirtier. All of the machines were cranking away. A man was yelling about being cheated out of his deposit money. A bouncer was stationed at the door. I couldn't wait to get out of there! Now to get my bottle drop card. The one-time code that I was supposed to enter at the kiosk had expired making it necessary to begin the process all over again? Fortunately, a helpful employee simply asked for my account number and ID and gave me a box of bags and stickers. I went back to my car and loaded two full green bags and applied stickers. I scanned my card at the reader by the metal hatch on the outside side wall and tossed my two green bags in. Now, several weeks later my account shows that only one green bag out of the two were checked in. My account balance is $1. Today I called Bottle Drop Customer "Service" for assistance with my account. I waited 20+ minutes before automated message asked me to leave a message. Now I wait. This system, while employing tech effectively, following a logical flow and implementation is seriously inadequate. To think that these few Bottle Drop centers are going to serve a community the size of Eugene - Springfield is ridiculous. I assume that most citizens, in order to avoid this nonsense, are now recycling their cans and bottles curbside which undermines the vision and goal of Oregon's bottle bill and lets our beverage bottlers keep tens of thousands of dollars in un-redeemed deposits every year. read more

This place is fine. Always long lines Esp. because of COVID. I was just in there again today, I had signed up for the green bag special. So I'm in there trying to figure out their machine to get my card n stickers. No idea what I'm doing or how. Younger woman at the physical return counter is watching me, tries to help. Basically gets almost angry cuz idk their program or how to use it. I told her idk what I'm doing on this at all. After all was done she frustratedly scanned my new card n gave me bags. I'm sure I'm not gonna be her worst patron today. All n all my worst experience there, in the many I've came n pop them return machines. Total newbie and needed a complete rundown of how things worked and what to do. I HATE the task of returning bottles and cans but this place made it more than tolerable. Absolutely will be back! Other than the stale beer stank that probably cannot be avoided in this type of place, it was a very good experience. It was Super Busy with Many people in line, but they have lots of machines which are so quick that the wait was only a few short minutes. Staff were Great! Informative, very kind, pleasant and helpful even for us, no longer clueless, newbies. This place could get sticky and nasty fast but the staff are very mindful of keeping things clean for customers. Don't drop your cans off!! Do it yourself!!! This location steals your money!! 3 bags in a row now that I physically counted before I drop them off have been shorted by $2-4! I have dropped many bags off before and it's always the same amount, starting seeing red flags so I finally counted. The customer service phone number I call is great and always make it right but this location is stealing or don't know how to count!! Be aware, count your cans/bottles!! Just save the hassle!! Every time I drive by there, early at 8 am, midday, or in the afternoon, there's a huge line of people out in the hot heat Waiting, There seems to be no good time to go to process the bottles without waiting a long time, it's pretty discouraging. I have tried to get a bottle drop account but don't have a cell phone, so how does that work? I'd like to just take all the cans and get them done but it's going to require several trips. At first I was really cheesed that we couldn't take cans and bottles back to the store where we bought them. Wasn't that, like, a law or something?? If they sell the can and charge the nickel they have to be willing to refund the nickel. Well anyhoo, most of not all can and bottle recycling has been centralized at the Bottle Drop location, located in sunny Timbuktu.. err.. West Eugene. Returning bottles WAS getting really hard. It was hard to feel safe, it was hard to walk through clouds of smoke to get to a bottle return, it was hard to get the supermarket employees to address concerns or assist with broken machines. Now that it's here, I'm grateful for Bottle Drop! The Bottle Drop location is clean and well organized. Dedicated employees mop at least once per hour. They are on hand to help with malfunctioning or jammed machines. They are there to hand-count returnables that the machines reject, though some are more liberal with what is returnable than others. As an added bonus, and for a small fee, I am able to drop off my bag of cans and bottles for the staff to process for me and add to my account. If I use my Bottle Drop balance at a listed retailer, I get a 20% bonus added to my balance- that's more for groceries. Bottle Drop also has labels available for nonprofits such as Eugene Area Gleaners or Burrito Brigade, so that they receive the donation. read more

What an amazing place. I run a program that relies on donations. We ran a fundraiser collecting cans/bottles and Bottledrop was so helpful! They accommodated us and we're so polite and helpful. The line goes very fast even if it's busy. The machines take everything and don't give you nearly as much trouble as the ones at Walmart or Safeway. Parking isn't too bad. The place smells exactly how you would expect but they do their best to keep it nice and clean. The employees were very helpful. Overall I would say this place is great! read more
